Character: Noah Fandom: Soul Eater Character Notes:
No details are known of Noah’s personal life or history prior to his introduction into the story. All that is known is that Noah at some point got his hands on a legendary book, The Book of Eibon.
Created by Eibon, one of the Eight Powerful Warriors, a group who protected the world eight hundred years before the series began, the book represented a great deal of power as it contains an entire dimension of its own. Noah began using it to draw items and beings into a collection, deciding to collect everything that he valued and then, once that was complete, destroy the rest, essentially making him the ruler of the world. With this ambition to ‘become everything’, he set out to manipulate events to reach this goal. He at some point either modified or created the boy named Gopher, granting him a superhuman magical body, and now uses Gopher as a willing slave. He has gathered all sorts of creatures and objects into his collection, and has even added an as yet unnamed being who was also one of the Eight Powerful Warriors to the book.
Taking on the name Eibon for himself in order to capitalise on the ‘brand recognition’, he somehow became involved in the machinations of the organization known as Arachnophobia, a group lead by the witch Arachne with the goal to find and steal the power of the Kishin (an obscenely powerful Demon God of Madness). He was apparently trusted by Arcahne, and he worked together with her to complete her transformation from a being of flesh and blood, instead into a being of pure madness energy. Why exactly he allied with her is unknown (although likely it was to learn the location of the Kishin), but when he is introduced in the story he has possibly already betrayed her. When first seen, he has ordered the guards of Arcahne to leave their posts, claiming that she no longer has any need of them. However, since this was during a siege of Arachne’s base in which she is the target this left her wide open to a direct assault.
Because of this, Arachne’s most trusted servant, a vampire named Mosquito declared that Noah was up to something, revealing that he was aware that Noah was not the true Eibon. Explaining that he found the name Eibon charming, and going on a rant about the power the book gave him, he killed Mosquito, telling the vampire that his real name was Noah just beforehand. This entire exchange was seen by Death the Kid, whom Noah immediately captured and added to his collection, taking the powerful magical artefact known as ‘Brew’ from him at the same time. Now in possession of the two great artefacts of Eibon, Noah left the castle and simply allowed the siege to continue, apparently not caring about the defeat of Arcahne.
When next seen, he has formed a group consisting of himself, Gopher, Justin Law (and his clown) and Giriko, and apparently lives in a church of some kind. He spends his time interrogating Kid and sending his underlings out to attempt to assassinate Maka Albarn and take her soul. Justin never gets to his target, and Gopher fails-upon returning, Noah is not upset about the failure, but is angered by Gopher revealing details about himself to Maka. During down time, he creates a magical belt that boosts magical power, but wary of it, he gives it to Gopher to test by destroying a village-it explodes, and Noah is relieved he didn’t test it himself. When Gopher takes out his frustrations by torturing Kid, Noah becomes angry at the damage to his ‘possession’, and sends Kid to the furthest depths of the Book of Eibon.
From there, he notices when the Shibusen members enter The Book of Eibon, and co-ordinates Giriko towards some targets. When other Shibusen agents assault his church, he easily overpowers them with the aid of Justin, but before he can finish them off, Kid and Black ☆Star escape the book, bringing with them the rest of the original team. What follows is a short fight, ending with Noah probably dying in a giant laser blast from Kid.
Personality: Noah is, first and foremost, a collector. Once he assigns value to something, he wants it and will do anything to add it to his collection. It doesn’t matter to him if it is an object or a person. If he thinks it’s worth existing, he wants it in his book. This is linked to his twisted desire to ‘become everything.’ He wants to rule the world, to control everything based on his own desires and eradicate everything that goes against his personal preferences. He refers to things he doesn’t want as ‘unnecessary’ and claims they should just die. He wants to be the one who judges all things that exist, creates the rules and set the values of all things. And his justification for this is simply ‘because I want it.’ He cannot see any real distinction between wanting something and it belonging to him. His tastes are also quite strange-in a rant on his values, he puts people and treasures in the same list as candies. His desires are not calm and collected; despite the façade he puts on, and will often enter into twitchy psychotic rants on the subject of his collection.
On that topic, he usually acts extremely calmly and in a refined fashion. He talks intellectually, is very hard to upset, and is almost always seen with a confident smile on his face. He is usually quite respectful, using honorific’s for his underlings. He similarly uses them for enemies, but he does this in the form of veiled insults. When Kid looks at his soul, he claims it feels extremely calm, and so this is not entirely an act, but he also claims carries with it a sensation of bottomless terror, proving his more maniacal impulses are always present. He rarely loses his cool in normal situations, instead logically thinking things through-he is not angry at Justin or Gopher for losing their battles because they were fights they were not strong enough to win, something they couldn’t help. But he does get angry at Gopher for revealing Noah’s name to his enemies, something he could help. However, his intellectual, sophisticated demeanour does not come to him entirely naturally-when alone, he uses phrases such as ‘geeze!’ and in the privacy of his thoughts, he is much more causal. And when not being watched, his facial expressions are a bit more varied, even featuring sweat drops. He also childishly wishes that Medusa’s experiments were failing just because his were.
Additionally, Noah is completely unaffected by the madness attacks or presence of a Clown-meaning that he is already insane. He appears to be extremely cruel and sadistic, bursting into gigantic smiles when the prospect of murdering an opponent appears. But, equally, he spared Liz and Patti Thompson on a whim, even complimenting Liz on her beauty before leaving.
He claims he has no connection to any one name, and is fine with using an alias for most things. He doesn’t seem to want respect or recognition-just to rule with an iron fist. However, he does like people to ‘know their place’. He doesn’t mind enemies insulting him, but he feels his underlings should show him proper respect, and claims that Gopher has no right to emotions as he is just Noah’s tool.
Other: I’ll be taking him from the same canon point as the majority of his cast mates, not after death. So that’s whilst Kid has been kidnapped, but before the fight.
Also, he’s likely to come up with some sort of alias and use that in place of his real name. Additional Links: Pew pew. (http://souleater.wikia.com/wiki/Noah) First Person (entry type): Greetings.
I thought I would engage you all with a particular philosophical conundrum that has existed for some time. It’s a simple question, but strangles all attempts to answer it.
‘What is art?’
Something you may wish to consider before you answer is that elusive concept of ‘context.’ Can context give something a new value? What happens if we take the Michelangelo’s ‘David’? Because it is on a pedestal, we know it is ‘art.’ But if it is locked in the back of a storeroom, does it cease to be art? What happens if we take something otherwise worthless and place it on the same pedestal, does it in turn become art? Tracey Emin’s 1998 piece ‘My Bed’ is a work that consists of a bed and miscellaneous items in a messy state. Would it be art if it were in a bedroom? Is it art outside of it?
Tell me then-what is your opinion?
Third Person:
The dry sliding noise of paper on paper persisted. Flip. Flip. Flip. Just a tiny effort from a brown thumb sent a page tumbling over, and yet that page contained a whole world. In the chapter of Gluttony, the page held not only words but truly the items themselves. A Hershey’s NutRageous bar. From some time ago-the longer, more flat style. And just below it, another from a day ago. The packaging had changed, along with the shape of the product.
Noah stared at the page containing these treats for some time, considering all the implications of the entry into his collection. He’d been having a few doubts about this recently. Two of the same product, and yet different. One had to be superior to the other-one had to appeal to him more. One had to be ‘the best form of a Hershey’s NutRageous bar.’ Which should he choose? Which one deserved a place in his world? Which one should be banished never to be seen again? “Sheesh…” The mage reached up, tipping the brim of his hat down his face a little, as if shielding his eyes from some invisible sun that wanted to blind him. “These are the kind of hard decisions I hate…”
A few moments later, the book slapped shut with a noise signalling a definite ending, followed by the tearing of thin plastic and a crunching noise, smooth fillings breaking out from under a hard shell.
