Yes, I guess this is in response to the recent roleplay secrets post and it's to try and clarify any concerns people might have and to concrete unsaid rules we've put in place regarding the gods and god-like characters.

1. You must have a permissions post and you MUST always run viruses, afflictions and all other ailments by the players involved before it happens. ALWAYS.
This one goes pretty much unsaid and counts for all players anyway. Godmoding will NOT be tolerated here and you will be reprimanded if you continuously do it. God's may be in the name but please remember that all characters are capable of this. All of them.

Permission posts/Crit posts are NOT mandatory but they are HIGHLY encouraged. We have an HMD every three months and we definitely would like you guys to participate as much as possible.

2. You may be playing a god but toning down needs to happen.
Not to say they dont have them but being this is a game primarily made up of characters who cannot effectively retaliate, we are humbly asking (not requesting I'm afraid) that you tone your gods powers down so they are not entirely 'all powerful'-- this mostly goes for gods who do not have a predefined set of powers, as opposed to god-like characters with a strict canon.

For example, not all gods can do all godly things. When I had Eros, I picked two primary powers for him and stuck to them. those were flight and shapeshifting. He could not affect weather like Apollo, he could not control the dead like Hades, he had his set, 'canonical' power. We ask that you put thought into your gods and pick 2 or 3 powers that you feel they represent and contain it to that. Anything extraneous can be attributed to plots, but it has to be realistic, or events that are preplanned between players and mods. Any extra powers needed for a specific plot can be taken on a case-by-case basis, but still keep in mind not adding in too many powers just for the sake of it.

Which brings me to my third point!

3. Gods can have hobbies too!
It's a trend I've been noticing personally, but gods and god-likes tend to be played more as plot points than characters. Plot points in this case means that they are mainly being played as a being with powers who can generally antagonize people, turn them into animals or switch their gender, etc.-- This is all well and good but please remember you apped a god with a personality. Play them. They all have their own weird little quirks and hobbies and it would be nice to see that represented more. I'm sad to say this seems to be a problem primarily with gods, not just with everyone-- but it is a suggestion to everyone to think about what your characters hobbies might be and how they might be able/willing to share them with the community!

Finally, as this is not a rule but rather a suggestion, another issue that seemed to come up with was gods having one-track posts-- yes, they have egos, keep that in mind but I agree that it's time to branch out of the box and find some more varied things for them to talk about. As I remember how hard that could be, I am suggesting this post ALSO be a GOD/GOD-LIKE PLOTTY PLANNING POST-- and remember EVERYONE can suggest stuff here! Maybe something the gods could get involved with that WOULDN'T be antagonization or just some other personal plots that wouldn't be bandwagon'd or what have you. Heck, throw out everything you got, it'll help them have more for you guys to respond to and I think getting some communication flowing would be healthy for the group as a whole.

And, just as an aside, I want you all to know that you really CAN come talk to us about stuff you dont feel comfortable with or things you are frustrated about-- we're always here for you, okay? We love you guys and we want the best for you and even if we dont agree, we wont judge you for how you feel or think of you any less. ♥

IMPORTANT EDIT:
Sorry! I forgot something that needs to be clarified not only for the gods but all super powered creatures/robots/everything-- your power is always contained to your world. You have no direct influence over ANYONE ELSES, no matter what, unless agreements are met between the players involved. If you would like to do a plot that affects the community as a whole, we can talk that through but as it stands, please watch yourself. Thank you again fff. 8)

Let's play nice

I already had all of this , but just in case:

Permission (http://chaos-godess.livejournal.com/803.html), future plots (http://chaos-godess.livejournal.com/1859.html)and things Eris cannot do (like erase memories and such), abilities/hobbies + concrit (http://chaos-godess.livejournal.com/681.html)

The problem with my muse is that her hobby is to caus chaos :/ but thanks to Zeus she has a canon-movie to use as reference.

Here's an idea I had... One of the things that Coyote does, when he's not hanging around, traveling, causing trouble, or running away from the trouble he's caused, is watch movies.

A lot of movies.

So I was thinking that maybe he could start posting "reviews" of movies, or TV shows, or whatever. Just whatever strikes his fancy, whenever it strikes his fancy, in true Coyote fashion.

The fun part in this is that they'd be the movies or TV shows or whatever of people on the community.

Of course this means tons of fourth-wall breaking, so I'd ask for volunteers to offer up their character's canon for "movie reviewing." If any of you have ever seen the Nostalgia Critic (http://thatguywiththeglasses.com/videolinks/thatguywiththeglasses/nostalgia-critic) (and if you haven't, I thoroughly recommend that you do), it would be kind of like that, only no video.

So yeah, a lot of fourth wall shattering, but I'd ONLY do it for the people who volunteered, and for the canons with multiple characters in DDD, there'd have to be a consensus between the players about whether the movie could be reviewed or not. I wouldn't break any fourth walls that didn't want to be broken.

Does that sound okay?

Dude.

I am all for Coyote reviewing any of the Bourne movies.

Hobby wise, I've had Pele doing story telling posts (only one so far, granted, but still >_>). Story telling is a big part of Hawaiian culture, and it also stems from her need to share how ~wonderful~ and ~~superior~~ her culture/family/friends are compared to everyone elses and I thought it was a cute idea at the time And she does a lot of boar hunting offline. She might be a short tempered, raging "DIAF! [/SMITES]" kind of woman, but as her power kind of stems from Kilauea she's severely depowered in any other world. If she can't smite people, she'll go for the next best way to vent! Also because I'm often too chicken to ask about smitings ._.

I've actually been worrying about not doing any real plotty stuff since picking her up. Aside from her random small get togethers with various people. XD; But if anyone wants to plot with her I'm open to ideas!

But...but...the whole reason Yukari is even here is antagonize people! She's like Haruhi only she knows what she's doing hasn't destroyed the universe because it is intresting to her.

Well...I was thinking of having a "Yukari tours the multiverse" plot, where she goes to alternate universes that haven't been represented on this community. Problem is that it...involves antagonizing the characters in some fashion. "So I took this girl back to my world, and you might know her very well" or "You alternate reality sucked".

Of course if its a problem, we could say she was just making it up and not really abducting alternate reality versions of a character's friends (who probably needed to be abdducted) or even traveling beyond her house in Gensokyo...

As for powers...Like I said, its manipulation of borders. Just one power...but it can do almost anything, really. Which probably defeats the purpose.

Anywho...I've been studiously avoiding using Yukari to just jump into a character's world and making a mess of things, although if anyone would like her to pop in, I'm all ears.

I'm not certain "continued" is the word you're looking for in the edit. ;)

Hi, I was just accepted and wanted to drop a word or two here...

Athena probably won't use powers much, if anything I'm hoping it'd be something a long the lines of a guide or counselor of sorts when needed (she's really into heroics and interesting, talented people, which DDD has tons of! She's a fangirl, um, a serious-tempered one that is). In canon she does a lot of "making people temporarily more attractive/unattractive/more physically skilled in some way" as needs see fit, so if anything she'd do stuff like that (which would be with both OOC and IC permission).

A thought. Does that mean, let's say Org XIII- would they still be able to use their various elemental powers on worlds outside the KH-verse? I mean, that's what we've been assuming I think, but your wording could make it look otherwise.

[identity profile] protagonus.livejournal.com 2009-06-16 05:38 pm (UTC)(link)
Hmmm, it probably depends on where the power source is. for the gods, I personally assumed the faith is what gave them their ability to do things, so when Eros went to different worlds, if he was there for a day or so, he'd be fine, but after that his powers would start to wane and possibly disappear.

Now, if someone has an ITEM that gives them their power, and they bring that, they can make it their choice of if that item still works or if they feel it would start to wane as well (I believe Jack Frost gave someone a magical gift that lasted only temporarily in another world)

All in all, I'd say it'd be fine for short periods of visits, but should they stay there, say a month or so or long visitation periods? They might feel their powers start to lessen. :>
