Character: Pavel Chekov Fandom: Star Trek XI Character Notes: History: Pavel Andreievich Chekov was born in 2241 in Saint Petersburg, Russia to a Russian father Andrei Dimitrievich Chekov and a Russian mother, Larisa Irinova Chekov. The two of them noticed their son's natural aptitude for math and learning in general early on while they lived on Luna (the Moon), enrolling him in school as soon as he could talk. Later on, this age gap caused some tension between his schoolmates and himself as he moved through grade levels faster than others his age would. The family was close, since Pavel was the only child of his parents and they indeed had no hope to ever have another, sadly, when he was nine years old Larisa died in a shuttle accident. Pavel distanced himself from his father after this incident, feeling responsible for her death and worried that his father would blame him for it.
When Pavel was thirteen, a recruiter from Starfleet Academy came to Russia with the hopes of him going. Andrei, always a supporter of Pavel living his life to his full potential encouraged him to go and so Pavel did. Completing his training in the normal four years, Pavel gained the rank of ensign and was assigned to the U.S.S. Enterprise as their navigator due to his skills in that particular field. On the Enterprise, he managed to save Lieutenant Hikaru Sulu and Cadet James Kirk from death by falling by transporting them back onto the Enterprise; a technique he tried to use to help save Spock's mother but failed. He also devised a way for the Enterprise to sneak up on the Narada undetected by coming out of warp in among Saturn's rings. Upon James Kirk's promotion to captain, Pavel retained his position and is now on the five year mission to boldly go and what not.
Personality: Pavel is quite mature for a seventeen year old male, a trait that came from being forced to grow up as fast as he did. There are times when he does act every bit his age, like when he excitedly screams "Yo mayo!" after saving Sulu and Kirk, but for the most part, he is easily embarrassed due in part to the fact that though he is a Starfleet officer, he is also a gangly teenager. Around his friends and in his personal logs, however, he is talkative and a great deal of fun to be around. When it comes to following orders, he will obey them, albeit sometimes begrudgingly, because really someone else can say vessels and every other v word so he doesn't have people make fun of him for his mispronunciation.
Other: Pavel's background is taken from TOS sources, with only the age being the difference, since the TOS Pavel was born in 2245, which would make him 13, not exactly the best age to be an ensign and navigating a starship. Also, depending on the number of "w"'s in my posts, I might write out the accent.
