Character: Eris Wasmayer Fandom:Trinity Blood Character Notes: History: Eris has not had what one could call a good life. She's a "witch"-- in the Trinity Blood world, this means that she's the descendent of someone whose DNA was genetically altered by pre-Armageddon scientists. Extraordinary abilities usually lie dormant in such descendents, but in some cases-- such as Eris's-- they inherit the full powers of their ancestors, among them pyrokinesis and ESP-related powers. Even now, there is a huge stigma against these witches. During the war between the humans and the Methuselah, the original witches were hunted almost to extinction by both sides, and their descendants are seen as monstrous and dangerous. In canon, Eris is shown to be capable of contact telepathy-- she can transmit thoughts and intentions to other people through touch, and she can use this to control them. (Based on the description of witches' powers it's hinted that she would also be a pyrokinetic, a psychokinetic, and a mind-reader, though she's never shown using these powers in canon.)
When Eris was young (an undetermined age), she was molested by a priest, and as revenge, she used her powers to make him stab himself to death. Her parents were the only ones who knew that he hadn't killed himself of his own volition, and soon after, they formed a suicide pact because they couldn't handle the shame and responsibility of having a witch for a daughter. Eris was packed off to a foster home, where she presumably lived happily until her foster father found out the truth about what she was and tried to kill her. In self-defense, she made him turn his gun on himself instead. Next, she was sent to an orphanage. During her stay there, eight boys stabbed each other to death. Her motives for these killings were never revealed, but based on how her earlier ones went, it's probably safe to assume that she was provoked in some way. Somewhere along the line, Eris was kidnapped by a group of vampires, who presumably knew about her powers somehow. They took her to a safehouse, where she used her powers against them in order to save herself from whatever fate was in store for her. The vampires literally ripped each other apart, causing such a bloody, gory scene that Eris was shellshocked into silence for days after she was rescued by two of the Vatican's AX Agents, Fathers Abel Nightroad and Tres Iqus.
After a little over a week in a Vatican bunker, it's decided that Eris will be moved to a convent in Rome. Abel accompanies her to the train station to meet one of their nuns, but she uses her telekinetic powers to knock him out and escape. Abel finds her again, but not before they're both chased by a mysterious figure with a gun... who turns out to be none other than Tres.
Though Eris had tried to keep her powers as secret as possible, Tres had looked into her past, noticed the string of mysterious deaths that followed in her wake, and realized the truth about her. Once he reported his findings, he was given orders to kill her, so that she (and her powers) couldn't fall into the hands of the Vatican's enemies. Abel opposes him-- and by extension their superiors-- in order to continue to protect her the way he had promised to. He manages to get her on the train just before it pulls away. Tres orders that it be stopped at the next station so that she can be apprehended, but strangely, one of the station employees tells him that the train isn't going to the next station-- it's out of service and on its way to a repair warehouse. It's at that moment that the real representative of the convent in Rome shows up, looking for Eris. Obviously, they were tricked-- the woman who showed to pick her up originally was a Methuselah, not a nun from the convent. She reveals that she has orders to bring Eris to the Rosenkreuz Orden, the secret organization run by the Contra Mundi. As Tres and the Vatican higher-ups had suspected, the vampires plan to use her as a weapon against the humans.
