They return to search for Lizzy together, joining up with Grell and Pluto. After they find Lizzy, thankfully unharmed, the toymaker uses puppet strings to control her into attacking them with an axe. Sebastian manipulates Grell into helping to stop Lizzy safely, telling him that he can tie cherry stems into knots with his tongue. Sebastian attacks the puppeteer, and they discover that he's nothing more than a doll himself, his head stuffed with straw. Then they confront the doll's master, only for him to turn out to be a doll controlled at a distance. Through the doll, the master tells Ciel that he wanted to erase him from existence, as he is defiled and unclean (the implication seems to be that Ciel was raped by those who killed his family and tried to use him in a ritual, as he's shown naked and chained, with many hands upon him, holding him down. At the very least, he was spiritually defiled by their satanic ritual). Aaand, they're unable to figure out who nearly turned Lizzy into a doll, but there's implication that Angela may be behind it, oh noes!

Not long afterwards, Ciel and Sebastien meet an Indian prince named ~~Naveen~~ Soma and his attendant Agni. Agni is actually a match for Sebastian in combat and everyone is impressed. Sebastian is suspicious, and a little jealous. Soma claims to be searching for one of his servants, a woman named Meena who was taken to England by a nobleman. It turns out Agni is sneaking out at night, and Sebastian follows, along with Soma, Ciel, and Lau (a Chinese opium dealer who has a friendly relationship with Ciel). Agni appears to be working with the nobleman who took Meena, and attacks Soma when confronted, on the orders of the nobleman.

Sebastian confronts Soma in the middle of the night, "retraining" him by telling him that he never lost anything and has no right to be whining, because as a prince, he never had anything to lose. Everything he had was given to him by someone else, and those who told him they loved him, and would never leave him, were only giving him lip service. Without those advantages of his birth, Soma is nothing but a weak child. He shocks him out of his selfish brattiness, and Ciel tells him a bit about his own past, admitting that if it weren't for the torture he went through, he would be the same. The pair teach Soma that he has to pull himself up and make his own decisions, rather than relying on those around him and blaming them when things go wrong.

Curry is made. Sebastian and Agni battle for the rank of top curry maker. For some reason, chocolate in curry sounds like a good idea. Japanese mangaka like puns. Angela interferes in the curry challenge by giving the no-name competitor a bag of spice that turns everyone into zombies. Meena is a bitch. Japanese voice actors can't quite sing "God Save the Queen" without making me lol. The kind power of Sebastian's curry defeats zombies. And Sebastian makes his first friend, in Agni.

Ciel and Sebastian investigate an old castle which is said to be haunted, but which Ciel has purchased and wishes to turn into a hotel. The ghosts of King Edward V and his brother Richard, who were assassinated as children, turn out to be haunting the hotel. Edward plays chess with Ciel for the right to have Sebastian - and wins. Ciel orders Sebastian to serve the royal brothers wholeheartedly until they are satisfied, which he proceeds to do, making Ciel feel neglected and extremely jealous, as Sebastian pretends to delight in serving the boys and treating Ciel as merely a guest. Sebastian manages to be around whenever Ciel needs help tying his shoes or getting into a locked room, however, though he continues to tease Ciel and claim it's only what is to be expected when anticipating a guest's needs.

However, when Ciel gives Sebastian a serious order - to retrieve the skull of Richard's corpse and place it in a particular spot to allow the ghosts to move on to heaven, Sebastian follows it as he should, and only smirks at Edward when he grows angry that Sebastian is no longer following his orders. Ultimately Ciel helps the ghosts to move on, and progress on the restoration can continue.

The actual plot begins to show up again after a rather long hiatus as the Queen's butler Ash Landers shows up to give Ciel another task to complete. It seems a nearby monastery has begun preaching heretical doctrines, developing into some kind of doomsday cult which worships a magical book that records all of one's sins and virtues, and are plotting to overthrow the government. Ciel and Sebastian visit the Undertaker to follow up on a lead, and run into Grell, who reveals that he's been sent to investigate the theft of several Cinematic Records (the record of a person's life which unfolds like a movie reel upon a human's death and allows the Shinigami to judge them). Turns out that these Cinematic Records are recorded in book form, and that one of these books is likely what the cult is worshipping.

The foursome join forces, and the Undertaker attempts to smuggle Ciel, Sebastian, and Grell into the monastery. Their attempt fails miserably, but the three are welcomed in anyway. The theme of filth and uncleanliness is brought up again, as the new "recruits" are accused of being unclean and told by a nun that when they were initiated they would be purified. Sebastian seduces the nun and gets information out of her about the religious sect while banging her in a nearby barn (yes, seriously, and rather graphically). She tells them how young boys are being selected to join "Heaven's Choir" and that their voices are always heard from the Founder's bedroom *wink wink nudge nudge ew*. Ciel is the obvious choice to ~~be molested~~ infiltrate and get close to the Founder so they can find out more. Sebastian appears to be able to smell the taint of angels throughout this monastery.

They attend a mass which appears to work rather like an exorcism, as two people's sins are put on display and they are purified. Afterwards, Ciel is told that he's been chosen for Heaven's Choir. A couple of nuns try to strip him to clean and purify him for this honour, but Sebastian manages to convince them to let him do it, using the power of his extreme sexiness. Master and demon have a bathtime heart to heart about what they've learned so far. It seems that Ciel believes that this cult is connected to the death of his parents, as the exact same symbol displayed in the church was branded onto Ciel's skin during his imprisonment.

AND THEN THINGS GET CREEPY. The Founder turns out to be a freakish golem formed of parts of Ciel's mother and father. Ciel calls for Sebastian to kill the twisted thing, and Sebastian shows up and dramatically does so, only for Ciel to be kidnapped by Angela, who is finally revealed to be an angel. Angela attacks and binds Sebastian with the Cinematic Record book, and Grell is reasonably useless at preventing her from escaping. At the last moment, Sebastian and Grell manage to leap into the portal Angela created, following her and Ciel.

Angela attempts to rewrite Ciel's memories of his past, pretending that her goal is to give Ciel peace from his torment and remove his sins. Angels are able to make a person's past seem good, even the bad stuff. Ciel rejects this, preferring his pain and hatred to an artificial happiness. Meanwhile, Sebastian and Grell arrive at the Library of Shinigami, and join up with William T. Spears, who isn't pleased about letting a demon in, but is even less pleased to have an angel running around. The two Shinigami and one demon hurry to rescue Ciel. When they arrive, William tells Sebastian that he can't intervene, because if the rewriting of Ciel's Cinematic Record is halted halfway, Ciel will wind up damaged. Sebastian is horrified that his soul, which he's nurtured, is being purified. Thankfully, Ciel manages to break free all on his own, leaving his soul nice and tainted with hatred. Sebastian gives Ciel a rare moment of honest praise, telling him that he always exceeds his expectations.

Sebastian, William and Grell all stand between Angela and Ciel, preparing to do battle with the angel. Unfortunately, they get distracted and Angela manages to escape to Earth, claiming that she will purge the world of the unclean at the monastery. She traps them all inside a barrier, trapping them inside the Library. Angela goes to the monastery and begins to suck the life out of all of the people there. Thankfully the Undertaker is in the Library, and he manages to rewrite one of the Cinematic Records of one of the nuns (the one Sebastian fucked earlier) to cause Sebastian to appear suddenly beside her, thereby freeing him from the barrier.

Sebastian and Angela begin to fight, and William and Grell show up to back Sebastian up. The Shinigami pin her to the ceiling with their extendable weapons, and Sebastian throws knives at her. Unfortunately, Sebastian gives in to the urge to play with the trapped angel for too long, and she begins to glow and give off a powerful cry that causes the church to collapse. Everyone is forced to run, and Sebastian leaves thinking that he's killed the angel, but obviously that would be too easy.

Believing that his revenge has been sated by the death of Angela, Ciel offers his soul to Sebastian. Sebastian only smiles knowingly, and Ciel realizes that there must be more to the story after all. Sebastian goes to one knee, asking to remain in Ciel's service for a while longer, and they return home together. The Undertaker has one last curveball to throw, however, as he tempts Ciel with a peek at his parents' Cinematic Records. Ciel refuses, and when Sebastian asks him why, he claims that he doesn't like to disturb the dead over and over, though it appears he also doesn't want to witness his parents' death again.

Ciel and Sebastian are then tasked by the Queen to look into the murder of another of the Queen's underworld agents, John Stanley. Ciel is told not to catch the culprit, but only to retrieve an item Stanley had on his person. The item is missing from the corpse, so Ciel and Sebastian goes to Lau at one of his opium dens to try to find out more about the circumstances of Stanley's death. Lau tells them that there's a new drug in town, which is causing him trouble, and it may be linked to Stanley's death. The weird thing is, the drug is called "Lady Bran", and Angela's human persona was "Angela Bran". The plot thickens!

The new drug turns out to be morphine, which is being distributed wrapped in Funtom Company candy wrappers. Amazingly, the candies are being given away, and Sebastian and Ciel only find out about it when the other servants reveal that they were given some by a woman on the street. Sebastian and Ciel hurry towards the candy factory to try to find out how their candies are being swapped for drugs, but Ciel is arrested before they can get there. It turns out that the Queen's butler double-crossed Ciel. A large amount of opium - to be refined into morphine - was found at Ciel's factory, and the efforts Ciel had made to lure out Stanley's killers were turned against Ciel. The police Superintendant, Lord Randal, is knowledgeable enough to separate Ciel from Sebastian.

Sebastian is taken to a dungeon. Ciel manages to pass orders to him not to resist, and to wait until Ciel calls for him. He is tortured brutally (as you can imagine from this being Victorian England, it's not nice at all). Angela makes an appearance as well. She taunts him, seeing that it's been a very long time since Sebastian last ate a human soul, and therefore must be incredibly hungry. Then she tries to convince him to give Ciel up, as Doomsday is coming and there will soon be many souls for Sebastian to eat. Sebastian refuses, saying that all he wants is Ciel - he's tired of his old existence, only living to feed on the souls of humans and little more than an animal. He will only eat the finest souls now, such as Ciel's. Angela grows angry, relishing her chance to whip and torture Sebastian as he's chained, helpless in the grip of his Master's command. Yet Sebastian relishes the pain in his own way, as spice that will only make Ciel's soul taste sweeter.

Ciel runs around for a while without Sebastian, and discovers who is behind the morphine in his candies - learning that Lau was involved from the beginning, and was the one who killed Stanley in the first place. At that point, Ciel calls for Sebastian. Sebastian hears his command, breaks his chains, and murders the man who tortured him, then hurries to his Master's side. He takes out the people attacking Ciel, then Ciel orders him to take out Lau. He warns Ciel that this isn't an order he can take back, and Ciel responds that he can't have play pieces that don't obey him.

Somehow - idek man - Ciel and Sebastian take over a castle on the Thames river and fire cannonballs at the ship on which Lau is attempting to make his escape. Sebastian surfs a cannonball over to the ship with Ciel in his arms, then gets sidetracked fighting Lau's sister, Ranmao. Ciel confronts Lau directly, and learns of a plot by the Queen, to embroil all of Europe in war using morphine. But he doesn't know whether to believe his former friend or not.

Lau attacks Ciel and he calls for Sebastian's aid, yet Ranmao tries to interfere. Suddenly a young police officer who had befriended Ciel - Aberlin - comes out of nowhere and takes the blade intended for Ciel, despite the fact that Ciel had told him to stay out of things. Sebastian gets there before Lau can strike again, stops the blade and kills Lau. Aberlin dies, telling Ciel that he can still have a future, but Ciel knows that this isn't true - he traded his future for revenge. Ciel slaps Sebastian, telling him that he was too slow, and Sebastian reveals that he knew Aberlin was there, and would save Ciel's life, so there had been no need to be faster. Ciel strikes him again and then calls Aberlin an idiot - a sentiment with which Sebastian agrees. So long as Ciel is safe, Sebastian doesn't care how many innocent people are used and get killed along the way. That's the nature of a demon.

As a result of Lau's intelligence, Ciel and Sebastian travel to Paris to attend the opening of the Eiffel Tower. Ciel is still pretty pissed at Sebastian, though he denies it. At the expo, they hear a rumour about an angel on display, but it turns out to be a monkey with wings stapled onto its back. However, the monkey suddenly attacks Ciel and then extinguishes the lights. Sebastian sends Ciel to safety while he takes care of the monkey, so the two are separated in the darkness. Ciel winds up at the top of the Eiffel Tower with Queen Victoria, who reveals she is in league with the angels, and intends to purify the world of the unclean, including the Phantomhives. Victoria turns out to be weirdly young, and Ash tells Ciel that he's made her into a chimera like Ciel's parents, joining Victoria with her dead husband. The "London Bridge" song continues to be creepy.

Sebastian saves Ciel from Ash's sword, and informs Ciel that this could be the moment he's been waiting for - the moment of revenge against those who killed his parents. Ciel gives the order to kill both Ash and the Queen. Sebastian and Ash fight, causing damage to the Eiffel Tower and causing parts of it to plummet to the ground. Ciel stops Sebastian because they are causing too much of a scene and endangering innocent people, and Sebastian points out that they're 'only humans'. Ciel orders a retreat, and Ash takes the opportunity to take the Queen and fly away.

Sebastian is pissed off and resentful that his moment to take Ciel's soul has been delayed once more. He confronts Ciel, suggesting that he's grown soft or hesitant about his revenge compared to the day they made their contact. Ciel claims that he has not, that he isn't loyal to the Queen, but becomes frightened as he glimpses Sebastian's true self in his eyes. Sebastian then resumes the mask of the gentle, dutiful butler, and tells him to forget everything, and have sweet dreams.

The following morning when Ciel wakes up, Sebastian has vanished. Though the seal is still on Ciel's eye, no amount of calling produces a response. Ciel is helpless without him, but somehow manages to get dressed, get robbed and get back to England without Sebastian's help and without actually getting raped (probably). Too bad that by the time he gets to London, the entire place is on fire. Ash abandons the Queen, because the bits of her body that are her husband are rotting, and she refuses to be purified, clinging to the her memories of her past love.

It turns out that Sebastian is also in London, hanging around with Ash, watching London burn. Sebastian watches Ciel from afar while Ash asks him if he'll help out. Sebastian claims he only acts on his master's order, and that right now he has no master. Ash tries to convince Sebastian to "become one with him", which is pretty gay, but Sebastian's not terribly interested. Apparently Ash believes a union of opposites will create a being that's whole and more desirable to God, whether it be man or woman, or angel or demon, which is why he's been stitching people together like a creeper. Did I mention that Ash Landers and the angel Angela are the same person? Mind = blown. Ash takes off his shirt and has boobs, and offers to fuck Sebastian as a women if he prefers that. Or something along those lines. Sebastian basically tells him/her to go fuck him/herself.

Meanwhile, Pluto is being controlled by Ash, and is the reason why everything's burning. The other servants are trying to take him down with tranquilizers or bring him back to his senses but it's not working. Ciel meets up with them and orders them to take Pluto down with real bullets, thereby impressing Sebastian once more with his renewed resolve. Ciel goes to the palace to confront the Queen, but she's already dead, and Ciel is accused of her murder. Ciel is shot once, but is determined not to die like this, but to give his soul to Sebastian alone, and Sebastian finally shows up to protect him, their contract renewed and once again in full force.

Sebastian and Ciel boat down the Thames towards the half-finished London Bridge. The makers of Sherlock Holmes appear to have watched this show, since the look is quite similar. The bridge is destined to be the site of the final showdown between ~~Holmes and Blackwood~~ Sebastian and Ash. Ciel gives his final order to Sebastian, to kill Ash, and the demon and angel fight above the bridge. There are thousands of souls embedded in the bridge, sacrifices to the angels, and they rise up out of the bridge to harry Sebastian, making it difficult for him to fight. All of the souls of those who died in the fires surround Sebastian, giving the angel strength and binding Sebastian so he can't move. Sebastian points out that Angela is a dogfucker (she is), and Ash/Angela longs to penetrate Sebastian (yum). Then Ash cuts off Sebastian's left arm (ow).

Finally the Shinigami start doing their job and sending on all the souls, thereby halting Ash's occult ceremony of purification and freeing Sebastian. Ash flips out and sprays feathers everywhere, and Sebastian protects Ciel with his own body, taking a dozen feathers in the back. He asks Ciel to close his eyes, because he wants to show his true form and as a butler, this would be unseemly. Ciel does so.

Ciel is blasted nearly off of the bridge by the force of the attacks, and hangs from a girder by one arm. Sebastian asks him to live for a count of ten, and in that count he destroys the angel. Then Ciel falls, dying of his gunshot wound, and plunges into the Thames. Sebastian rescues him and calls him a liar, since he'd said he could live for ten more seconds. Ciel acknowledges that he lied and Sebastian takes him to the demon island to eat his soul.

On the island, the pair have a tender moment while Ciel asks Sebastian to leave his body for the crows when he's done with it, and Sebastian tells him he's kind to think of the ravens. Ciel asks Sebastian if it will hurt, and Sebastian promises to be as gentle as possible, but Ciel orders him to make it as painful as he likes, to engrave the pain of living onto his very soul, and Sebastian moves in to end Ciel's life.

Unfortunately, because his severed arm bore the seal of his contract with Ciel, another demon named Claude is able to steal Ciel's soul at the moment that Sebastian moves in for the kill. And thus begins second season. I'm going to summarize these last 13 episodes extremely quickly, because this app is getting seriously retarded long.

Basically Alois Trancy is, like Ciel, a young nobleman (or posing as such) and has contracted with Claude. Alois believes that Sebastian, under a previous contract, had killed his younger brother (along with burning down his entire village and killing everyone in it) so he wants revenge on Sebastian. He had Claude kidnap Ciel's soul.

Sebastian is able to restore Ciel's soul to his body, but Ciel has lost all of his memories of what happened in first season and still believes that his revenge has yet to be fulfilled. Everyone is ordered to act as if nothing is wrong, while Sebastian constructs a scenario that will allow Ciel to believe that his revenge has been fulfilled, so Sebastian can try to eat him again. Meanwhile, Alois attempts to take Ciel from Sebastian, because Sebastian by this point has an 'unnatural attachment' to Ciel, and they figure that taking Ciel away is the best way to hurt Sebastian.

The two demons gamble for possession of Ciel while Sebastian convinces Ciel that Alois and Claude are his family's killers. For a time, Claude manages to get Ciel to fear Sebastian and believe that Sebastian was truly the one who killed his parents. But Ciel refuses to make a contract with Claude and actually allow Claude to win the battle. By this point, Claude has realized why Ciel's soul is so highly prized by Sebastian. He begins to cast Alois aside as inferior, a cruel and petty person who is corrupted, while Ciel's soul has remained pure despite his long association with a demon and therefore far more tasty. Alois, desperate for love and affection, declares his adoration and servitude to Claude, who kills him in disgust.

Hannah, the demon who actually killed Alois' brother (by contracting with him and ultimately eating his soul) is a servant in Alois' household. She loves Alois, despite his cruelty towards her, partly because his brother resides within her. She is also the keeper of the demon sword, a weapon that can kill demons. She arranges for Alois' soul to be implanted inside Ciel's body and the two battle for dominance. Alois sets up a game to test Claude's devotion towards him, and Claude and Sebastian battle to get to Ciel's body first. In the end, Alois discovers Hannah's devotion and makes a contract with her.

The only way to fulfil the contract and get Ciel back is for Sebastian to kill Claude. The demons fight with the aid of the demon weapon, and Sebastian defeats Claude, however then Alois and Hannah deliver their coup de grace. When Ciel is delivered back to Sebastian, free of Alois' soul, he is no longer human - but a demon. As he had previously ordered Sebastian to be his servant until he could eat his soul, and Sebastian had of course accepted this command, Sebastian finds himself bound to an immortal (and soulless) demon, never to be free of his contract, and bound to obey a demon Ciel for eternity.

Bummer.
