Scott Pilgrim - Scott Pilgrim - Reserved - 3 / 4

Personality:

Scott Pilgrim, at the highest level, is a video game playing slacker. He's that kid at school that nobody likes because they think they're really cool, but they're not. They're the opposite of cool. Scott doesn't seem to notice that, in conversations, or things like that. He's the sort of guy to bring up videogame references and tropes in day-to-day life. Which fits his world, even if it makes him sound like even more of a dweeb than he is. Not saying he's not a dweeb, though!

Shown by the short-related-to-the-movie, Scott Pilgrim V the animation, he's still the same sort of jerk he was in the comics, beating up poor young Simon Lee to get Kim to date him. And, implied by the scenes being simliar, he got drunk and started a fight with Envy, which caused them to break up. Thus, he is a jerk. In the movies, he still covers up his mistakes and the bad parts of his own personality, but it is harder to see. He paints himself as the hero of his own movie, not really caring about other peoples' stories. As long as he gets what he wants.

Though being 22, he still acts super-awkward in front of girls, like some kind of teenager. This is painted-over, but it's true. He's quite selfish in the way he acts -- he doesn't seem to care about other peoples' emotions, unless it helps him. This is illustrated in canon, when he starts to date Knives in the very close future, only for his own gain.

However, reading this, you might think he is a bad guy. And at the start of canon, that can be a good analysis. However, Scott does not think of himself that way, and that is reflected by what is seen in the movie. He's impulsive with his actions, and this affects a lot of people.

Other:

Though I'm taking him from the movies, I am referring to backstory canon used in the comics. It's been stated on the commentaries for the DVD that the comics backstory is still mostly canon for the characters, unless it causes conflicts with the movie.
