The Ichijouji was grief-stricken and Ken decided to try making up for his brother’s death and become like Osamu. The dark spore he had been hit with weeks earlier took effect and he was suddenly good at sports and school. But the spore also made him grow cold and apathetic. He was charming and cool to others; however, Ken only saw them all as nothing more than insects. In the Digital World, Ken went from being the kind gentle boy that his partner Wormmon met to a tyrant bent on taking over the Digital World. The Chosen Children and their partners came to fight him. Ken finally resorted to building the Ultimate Digimon, a partner worthy of him, as he had now saw his loyal partner, Wormmon, weak. He created Kimeramon from the data of different Digimon but the creature rebelled. When the chosen children and their partners came to fight him, they were losing and Wormmon sacrificed his strength to help them save Ken from himself. After Kimeramon was defeated, Wormmon died, and Ken realized that the Digimon were real creatures, and not just data in a computer game as he had thought. He broke down when Wormmon died and returned home. After a period of time, searching his heart Ken learned another lesson of the Digital World, Digimon never die, and they are just reconfigured. Ken was reunited with Leafmon and found his Crest of Kindness and vowed to become who he used to be before the spore hit him. He started rebuilding his life and relationship with his parents who realized what they had done and were trying to make up for it by changing their priorities in raising their son.
Ken meanwhile, was making up for his actions by knocking down the Spires he had made in the Digital World making its inhabitants unable to evolve. The leader of the Chosen Children, Daisuke noticed the change in Ken and asked him to join the Chosen Children. Ken declined at first not feeling comfortable with them. He tried helping them against Arukenimon and Mummymon, two Dark Digital Creatures.
Arukenimon was using the spires to create faux Digimon, creatures that resembled the Digimon but have no heart. His willingness to destroy these imposters made the Chosen Children questioned if he had truly changed, until the partner of one of the elder chosen witnessed the creation of a fake digimon and told them. The youngest member of the new generation Chosen Children, Iori was the last to be convinced and he and Ken didn't get along for some time. But the importance of urgent action in saving the Digital world finally brought them together.
In the Digital World, Arukenimon had used 100 control spires to create BlackWarGreymon. Unlike the others he had a heart and mind of his own and he questioned his purpose. Believing it was to fight and destroy he started attacking the Destiny Stones, items that anchored the balance of the Digital World. This was their new mission. Eventually, the Destiny Stones were destroyed and BlackWarGreymon learned what he was, a creature made of control spires, and fled in anguish. Ken learned that Arukenimon had tried to use him to create the spires in order to set off the balance of the Digital World Eventually Ken and the other Chosen Children, met Oikawa, the man who had created Arukenimon and Mummymon as well as the dark spore that infected Ken. He had met Ken at the funeral of his brother Osamu and encouraged him to dominate the digital world. He had only been using Ken as a tester for the spores and Oikawa was now implanting them in other children.
Ken became determined not to let the other children be drawn into darkness as he was. Oikawa turned out to be an old childhood friend of Iori's father Hiroki. He and Hiroki were obsessed with the digital world, Oikawa only more so. He and Hiroki made a promise that they would go to the digital world together. Hiroki became a policeman who died in the line of duty shortly after Iori was born.
Oikawa was stricken by grief, angry at Hiroki for abandoning him and desperate to enter the Digital World. MaloMyotismon, the older Chosen Children's last foe, approached him offering a chance and Oikawa took it and allowing MaloMyotismon to take over his body. But in attempting to enter the Digital World, Oikawa and the spore-infected children instead wound up in a strange dimensional pocket between the two worlds. MaloMyotismon revealed himself to the Chosen Children and destroyed Arukenimon and Mummymon devastated attacked him and was killed. MaloMyotismon used a mental attack on the Chosen Children, trapping them in world of their desires. Ken witnessed his tyrannical Digimon Kaiser persona being tortured by Digimon in retribution for his crimes when he overtook the Digital World. He was then approached by a form of his brother and offered to be freed from his troubles but Wormmon told him it was fake and Daisuke and the other Chosen Children rescued him and Ken finally realized that he had paid for his crimes and didn't need to live in the past any longer, and that he had friends that cared about him. He helped the Chosen Children beat MaloMyotismon and helped the other Spore infected children gain their confidence after realizing what had been done to them. Personality: As the Digimon Kaiser, Ken is a ruthless and cold evil genius. He is very egotistical and considers himself perfect and everyone else to be maggots. In the real world he puts on a façade as a humble young genius but finds everyone around him to be insects. He is cruel to his partner Wormmon despite Wormmon’s loyalty and dedication to him. Ken himself is quiet and seemingly shy but very smart and rational, but his defining trait is kindness and he has a gentle nature as pointed out by Wormmon, his Digimon partner and Osamu his older brother. He is very considerate and thoughtful. But can be a force to be reckoned with when he wants to. He tends to think thinks through (especially in comparison to his friend Daisuke). He had a sense of nobility and loyalty and is clever. Ken has gained a determination from his adventures with his friends in the Digital World. To most he appears very shy and nearly always quiet at first glance and very serious but overall quite friendly. He has an even temper and unless you are a force of evil it’s generally difficult to get him mad. He has become very close to his family after his experiences and is responsible and obedient to authority figures unless he has a good reason not to. He is extremely empathetic and if given the chance can prove that even without his dark spore he is bright for his age.
First Person (entry type): I'll admit , whoever made this virus infested “community” is very clever, but my patience is wearing thin. If I do not figure out how to fix this I will make every member of your little community very sorry. I strongly suggest whoever is responsible to come forward now and make it easier on yourself.
Third Person: There were a lot of people present, offering their most sincere condolences to the grieving parents. They were all dressed in their finest, in dark somber shades of black gray and white. Osamu Ichijouji, a fairly well known child prodigy died at the hospital after being hit by a car. The father said a quiet thank you while the mother tried to contain her tears. They didn’t seem to notice their younger son who was staring sadly and guiltily at the photo of his older brother.
“I’m sorry nii-san.” He said in a whisper, “I didn’t mean I wanted you to disappear I was just mad. I’m sorry”, he looked over at his parents. His mother was trying not to cry because of his wish, his parents were devastated. He wondered, would anyone notice if it had been him?
