First Person (entry type):

Hello everyone.

My name is Melissa Quackenbush. I think that some people here might know my daughter, Candy?

I found this laptop on her desk awhile ago. I generally don’t like to poke into Candy’s personal life too much. She’s a good girl and she deserves every bit of trust she’s earned.

Lately, though, she seems a little… off. Normally she seems so cheerful but she’s seemed a little down lately. She doesn’t get along with kids around her very much so I thought I might take a look at the laptop and see if she had any other friends she’d met online. Then I found this website…

It seems like there’s a lot of you, especially that talk to her. Could anyone possibly tell me how she’s doing? I just want to make sure she’s all right.

Or maybe you could just introduce yourself? I wouldn’t mind getting to know some new faces as well.

Third Person:

It was rare that Melissa ever found a moment to herself in her household. The young ones were always keeping her busy with their arguing or Bill would be shouting for her or something in the house would need cleaning or Candy would have procrastinated another homework assignment she needed help with…

Honestly, just thinking about it all tired her out. But that’s what a mother did. She handled everything that needed her attention for her family. And more often than not she did it happily, at least for the children. Sometimes she couldn’t help but resent the Lump as he lay around all day and did nothing. But getting him to do something was a battle she lost long ago.

Instead Melissa learned to delight in the little free time she had. Her days were always filled with work of some kind, but her nights were hers.

Late into the night Melissa would leave her husband’s snoring side and slip downstairs to step out onto the porch. She had a rocking chair set up there for these moments. When she would just sit down and watch the quiet world go by.

No longer did she think on what she missed as she did this, though. Instead she watched the world go by and saw the endless possibilities that opened themselves up to her children. For their future.

And she would just smile.
