APPLICATIONS: 2011; 001

Important Rules
  1. You must be at least 15 to play.
  2. No original characters or real people.
  3. You may submit two applications each calendar month, and that's it. Deleting applications to get around this rule will lead to an applications suspension and automatic rejection.
  4. We have a character limit of 9 and a fandom limit of 3 (that is, three characters from a single fandom per person.)
  5. Please realize the difference between catchphrases and copying material from a book or script. The former is a saying your character often uses, which is perfectly acceptable, while the latter is copying lines directly from a book or script, which is grounds for automatic rejection.
  6. Lyrics will not count to your word count.
  7. Should we request another sample, you have a week from that request date to supply one before the application is automatically rejected.
  8. We do reference IP addresses on this post and this is to avoid people getting around our application rule or those few banned players we have getting back in. We don't mind if you use a sock puppet account in general but if there will be complications, please contact us. Additionally, no one can see your IP address but moderators.
  9. If you are re-apping a previously dropped character, feel free to link your old entries for a first person sample. However, if it is your first time applying, please write a new sample for your application, rather than linking to an entry in another game.
Check before applying
  1. The taken characters list
  2. The Reserve Page, to see if someone has reserved the character or if you, yourself would like to. See the page for more information about reservations.
Etiquette
  1. Please don't be presumptuous. Mods reserve the right to reject the application of anyone announcing their acceptance prematurely.
  2. Do not bother the moderators about your application. Asking for a verdict in PM or otherwise will result in an auto-reject.
  3. If you feel you've been overlooked, post a comment with a link to your application and we'll make it our priority. Being overlooked and reposting your application will not count to your two a month limit.
Contact
  1. If you have any general questions about applications or how the application process works, feel free to contact any of the moderators/modpoles.

Click this link for an explanation of our application. Worth a read for a refresher even if you've applied twenty times before!
Click this for an explanation of what we consider plagiarism
A convenient word counter. We encourage using this to confirm your samples meet the require word minimums before posting.

The Application

Prompts -- These are not mandatory, but merely offered for your consideration. It's often hard to tell whether or not you've got the character's voice down from a simple intro post, so these prompts are some food for thought if you're not sure what else to write about. Feel free to draw from them for first or third person samples.
  1. You've lost something, and have no idea where it is.
  2. How do you feel about the most important person to you?
  3. There's a wallet on the sidewalk. What now?
  4. The weather today is horrible.
  5. You didn't do as well as you thought. Or, you did much better than you thought.
  6. You're on a trip to somewhere you really enjoy.

We strongly discourage conversations on applications. A comment here or here is fine, but please reserve all 'celebrating' for intro posts.

We check applications every few days.
They are always open.

If you write an intro post for your sample, it's going to be very hard to judge you, and we're probably going to ask for another one.

The previous application post is here.

Character: Jade Harley
Fandom: MS Paint Adventures -- Homestuck
Character Notes:
History: As I'm sure you know, Jade's canon is a) still ongoing, b) constantly added to with new complications, and c) centered around time travel and stable time loops. To quote, "every effect is also its own cause". This will be a challenge, then, both to write out and to read through, but I'll do my best.

Jade grew up on an island situated in the area of the ocean where Google Earth glitches up and can't see anything, with only her grandfather, her radioactive super-dog Becquerel, and a bunch of weird highly advanced scientific gadgets and souvenirs from Grandpa Harley's world travels. When she was a child, she received a package from a stranger claiming to be her friend; the package contained a shirt with a blue symbol and a few packs of pumpkin seeds, and from then on, she wore blue despite preferring green and grew to love gardening so much that she got her own greenhouse. This was actually sent as a birthday present to her future self, who sent it back in time to create a stable time loop, one of many that Jade would find herself facilitating in the future. At a later point, her grandpa is mysteriously killed (which ends up being all Tavros' fault, but we'll get to that), and without any more in-person human contact, she takes it harder than normally; she has him preserved like a dead animal (stated to be a "family tradition", for some reason or another) and continues to act like he's still alive.

When the comic actually begins, Jade is thirteen years old and about to send said package to herself. Her friends, three gamers who are the only people on her IM friendlist (although she's blocked four times that many due to getting a bad impression of the trolls), are all about to begin playing a game. This is a brand new and highly promoted game called Sburb, a cross between an RPG and a simulator, only "highly immersive". In this context, that means that you get to actually build and alter your friends' real-life houses, actually fight monsters, actually build things... and actually cause the end of the actual world. Yeah, that suddenly sounds a lot less fun, doesn't it? After a ridiculous amount of tangles and tie-ups, what's supposed to be a two-player game ends up as a four-player game, with Jade and her friends John, Rose, and Dave all acting as servers and clients for one another and creating a chain instead.

Jade's mysterious precognition, gained through her dreams, made her aware of all the problems the party would face -- or, well, most of them -- but her narcolepsy presented the biggest problem on her end, and she would randomly fall asleep. She had a robot controlled by her dreamself -- that is, a robot fueled by an "extra life", in gaming terms, because that's really what's going on, but it's a bit more complicated than that -- to pick up wherever she left off, but she would often screw up more and have to be woken up anyway. Her other challenges included being caught and dragged back home by Becquerel every time she snuck out to facilitate more stable time loops and being lectured (in her mind) by her (now dead and preserved) grandpa. Her biggest mistake ends up being that she tries to send a package to John, but it ends up in the wrong time period and in the wrong hands... which will come back and bite everybody later. But we'll get to that.

Anyway, at the same time, John's adventures lead him to create himself and his friends. Huh? It turns out that every other character in this comic is their own clone due to John being a massive derp and creating everyone in a lab by blindly pressing buttons. So Grandpa Harley isn't even Jade's biological grandfather, he's more like her father, except not really, and he just picked her up when she mysteriously appeared one day in the wreckage of one of his factories and named her after his boat. Except that Grandpa Harley was also created in the same lab and sent further back in time, appearing in more wreckage from more mysterious meteors. This also makes John and Jade unknowing siblings, because he also cloned himself and created himself from the same people. Does your brain hurt? My brain hurts.

Character: Wendy Watson
Fandom: The Middleman (TV show and its comic supplement)
Character Notes: Some spoilers for the TV series.

Wendy is the assistant to the Middleman, the legacy hero who is charged with defending the world against 'threats infra-, extra- and juxaterrestial'. Should something happen to the Middleman, Wendy would become the next Middleman.

History:
Wendy Watson is a twenty-something 'abstract expressionist' artist, struggling to be successful. She lives in an illegal sublet with her best friend, Lacey Thornfield, who also attended art school with her. Her mother is Cuban (and possibly Puerto Rican) and lives in Orlando, Florida. Her father was a Douglas DC-7 pilot disappeared in when she was fourteen.

When we first meet her in The Middleman, she was working as a temp at a genetics laboratory. Unfortunately, there was an accident causing a tentacled monster burst out of the wall and attacked her. She was able to fend off the monster with a letter opener, until a man wearing an Eisenhower jacket arrived and zapped it. He immediately asked Wendy not to mention the truth to anyone, as it might freak the 'normals' out.

Wendy was later fired from the temp agency she worked for, as the 'official' reason given for the lab accident was a fire, linked to her lucky lighter. After fruitlessly searching for a job for the rest of the week, she was contacted by the Jolly Fats Weehawken Temp Agency. When she looked into it (after a rigorous set of tests), the office turned out to be a front for the guy from the lab incident – who introduces himself as the Middleman. He offered her a job as his sidekick, fighting all sorts of comic book villains, science fiction dangers, and supernatural threats.

Though Wendy initially turned him down, she decided to take the job because she realized her life was kind of boring and the idea that she could help the world in such an exciting way was attractive to her. (Plus, she really didn't have much of a choice.)

So far Wendy has faced: mind-controlled, genetically engineered mobster gorillas; a terra cotta warrior bent on bringing a thousand years of fire upon the world; luchadores with a deadly grudge against Sensei Ping, the official martial arts trainer of all Middlemen and their Middle-associates; a TV therapist who hunted aliens for sport; zombies with a taste for trout; a boy-band that actually consisted of five alien dictators; a cursed tuba who caused anyone who heard it to drown in the icy waters of the North Atlantic; a not-so-typical haunting of a sorority; vampire puppets; a journey into the middle of Ida (like the Fantastic Voyage, or Die Hard… in an android); a mirror universe where every guy had a beard and her other self was evil; and a billionaire who used his company's flagship product to warp reality in order to save the Earth from humanity's waste and wanton misuse.
And that's just what we've seen on screen.

She was trained in martial arts by Sensei Ping of the Clan of the Pointed Stick, an experience she enjoyed more than she thought she was going to. It turns out that despite the initial problems between Sensei Ping and Wendy (which resulted in luchadores kidnapping Sensei Ping and the Middleman having to fight a cursed wrestler called Cien Mascaras), Sensei Ping was impressed with her. (The Middleman and Wendy are his favorite students). Wendy is also a good marksmen due to large periods of time playing first person shooters. She can also fly a plane due to learning from her father before his mysterious disappearance.

As far as Wendy's friends and family know, Wendy works for a consulting firm that deals with strange and difficult problems for companies and individuals. She's pretty happy with her new life – she gets to save the world and is greatly inspired in her art (she's painted everything from tommy-gun wielding gorillas to zombie brides to a representation of her dark side.)

• People:
Lacey Thornfield – Lacey is a confrontational spoken word artist. She tends to get into trouble because of her protests, including an incident involving protesting 'mercury-laced' sushi and taking off her dress during the protest which, of course, got her arrested for public nudity. Of course, Wendy bailed her out, but was also mad about having to continuously do so (because it wasn't really helping anyone and was stretching their already pretty tight budget). Despite bumps in the road like this, Wendy and Lacey are fast friends, know more about each other than anyone else, and would do anything for each other.

The Middleman – The latest of a long line of heroes who have protected the world from 'exotic problems' for an extremely long time. He dresses in an Eisenhower jacket and lives his life dedicated to his work. He is a former Navy SEAL who was recruited by Raveena Rao (his Middleman) into the Middle Organization. Eventually, he and Rao fell in love, but Raveena died from T-cell polymphocytic leukemia, prompting him to change his uniform and to swear an oath to live clean, forsake all vice and profanity, and do his work without failure in hopes of seeing her again when he dies. He also fell in love with Wendy's roommate Lacey, though he was forced to give her up as the 'ultimate price' for using the power of Chac-Mol.
His relationship with Wendy is that of an older brother or a father figure, and Wendy looks up to him a lot.

Ida – The android who acts as mission control for the Middleman. Her personality chip has been stuck in 'domineering school marm' mode for ages. She's grouchy, sarcastic, and enjoys making fun of Wendy (usually by calling her some variation of 'pothead' while telling her how to do something). Ida also sometimes spies on Wendy, such as when Wendy and Tyler were making out. Despite this, Wendy does care about Ida and gets upset when she and the Middleman think that Ida is going to be destroyed because of alien nanobots.

Noser – Another tenet of the apartment building and good friend of Wendy's, Noser is a virtuoso musician (and ventriloquist). He usually hangs out in the entry way by the elevator and greets people by quoting or referencing songs.

Tyler Ford – A talented musician and Wendy's boyfriend. Tyler was a prospective recruit for the Middleman, which means he has a lot of the same skills and talent that Wendy does. Tyler shares Wendy's love of all things zombies.

Others – Her previous boyfriend Ben broke up with her for a video project. Pip, the son of the guy who owns the building they live in, attempted to steal her art for his own art show (the Middleman stopped him by setting off a truth bomb in the gallery). Roxy Wasserman is the Middleman's supernatural consultant; she and Wendy don't really get along very well.

Personality:
Wendy is very genre savvy and is usually unaffected by the strange and the bizarre. She's got a near encyclopedic knowledge of comic books, movies, TV shows and literature, and, her personal favorite, zombie-related media. Her first and foremost love is her art, though she enjoys her job a lot more than she might want to admit.

Wendy describes her sense of humor as 'ironic, not cynical' (thus the Live-journal name), often dealing with the stresses of her life with humorous retorts, especially when she and the Middleman are in the most ridiculous situations. She able to take the jabs at her from Ida without really taking anything personally, and usually shells out counter-jabs.

She is friendly, but won't necessarily go out of her way to make friends. What friends she has, she is loyal to beyond measure. She would gladly risk her life (and even her art) to make sure that her friends, the Middleman and even Ida are safe.

Wendy can be rash in her actions, being a little too gung-ho at times. She can get very frustrated and tends to take it out physically, as demonstrated with her interrogation training. That poor Interro-droid, he didn't even see that kick coming. She sometimes gets distracted by whatever is going on her personal life. She has to deal with self-doubt and some self-esteem issues, which is why she tries to keep things funny. When it comes down to it, though she is reliable and able to get the job done.

Character: Ezra Fitz
Fandom: Pretty Little Liars

Character Notes/History: (Hope it’s okay to combine these.) Ezra Fitz is 22-years-old and a recent graduate from Hollis University. There he earned his degree in English with a double emphasis in education and literature. After he graduated, he secured his teaching credential and was hired on as an AP English teacher at Rosewood High School in Pennsylvania. There he encountered a student in his class named Aria Montgomery, with whom he had a previous relationship without knowing that she was underage. His bad history with women goes back further than that. He was engaged to Jackie Molina, his off-and-on college girlfriend, but was dumped not long after he gave her a ring. He lives alone in a studio apartment, writes bad poetry in his spare time, and tries his best not to think very hard about Aria.

Personality: Ezra struggles with maturity and is very much a little boy inside. On the outside, he’s put together and always tries to do the grown-up thing. When he’s alone however, he does things like sit around in his Superman boxers while eating cereal straight from the box. He’s a flirt but tries not to let his heart get involved too quickly, since he’s been hurt in the past. He is extremely passionate about writing and encourages creativity in others, often mentoring them when asked. But while he loves his teaching job, what he truly wants to be is a writer. However, he lacks the courage to really go after it with his whole heart. It’s a struggle that will last most of his life.

Additional Links: This is my fanfiction.net account (http://www.fanfiction.net/u/2800527/proantagonist), which has additional examples of my writing from Ezra’s point of view:

(part two of application to follow)

[identity profile] mrezrafitz.livejournal.com 2011-04-10 08:03 pm (UTC)(link)
First Person (entry type):

(Journal entry)

More than anything in the world, I wish I was a better writer.

It’s frustrating to have all these stories and images in my head and lack the talent to capture them in words. The text always falls short of my original vision.

My best friend from college just secured an agent, and he teases me relentlessly over the fact that I took the easy way out with my teaching job. He’s in discussions over how sizable an advance he can get for his first novel, while I’m grading high school English papers. I mean, I’m thankful for my job, but sometimes ... yeah, I do think I took the easy way out. The cowardly way, as per usual.

I met a pretty girl in a bar once, and she told me that she writes only for herself. It was pure passion, I told her. I envied her - wanted to pick her brain and remember what it felt like to have that creative freedom. She made me feel like I didn’t need a book contract to still do what I love.

Did I mention she was pretty? Breathtaking, really. The kind of girl that makes you forget where you are when she smiles.

See? My writing is getting better already. Must be the good company.

Third Person:

Ezra always felt self-conscious when writing on the chalkboard.

It wasn’t just that his back was turned on his students, where they could openly make faces and angry gestures at him. (He had just handed back midterms, so anger in general was a high probability.)

The chalk slipped methodically across the board as he outlined the main themes of To Kill A Mockingbird, but though Ezra’s voice was steady and never once wavered from the lesson, the entire scenario felt very surreal to him. It was strange to be standing up there at the front of the classroom, wearing a necktie and writing on the board, when he was so used to being the one in the desk taking notes. Perhaps the feeling would fade the further away he got from college, but often he felt unqualified to teach this class when he didn’t feel very much older than his students.

“Please turn to chapter four of the text,” he said - and was somewhat amazed when almost everyone listened and did as he asked.

Setting the chalk down, Ezra turned to face the class. His eyes met with Aria Montgomery’s briefly, and he saw that she was the only one not opening her book. She stared straight at him, her expression unreadable. Ezra swallowed and looked elsewhere, feeling like she was the only one who had figured out he wasn’t grown-up enough to be the teacher at all.

Character: Agito/Akito/Lind Wanijima
Fandom: Air Gear
Character Notes:
History:

This history section will be REDOLENT WITH SPOILERS for Air Gear. I apologize.

First, I am going to share a few terms that are important to this history section, as Akito/Agito's history tends to weave prominently through it.

Air Treck/A-T: Essentially, these are godmode rollerblades. They have been mechanically enhanced to allow the wearer to do crazy tricks by manipulating wind, air pressure, and other quasi-scientific (read: completely unrealistic) elements to make people sort of fly. There's an entire culture of people who use A-T in battles and for fun. A-T users are called Storm Riders.

Gravity Children: The results of a bioengineering product by the original creators of A-T, Gravity Children are genetically engineered people raised in a zero-gravity environment, trained in use of A-T from birth, and given physiological enhancements to allow them to withstand extra pressure, and sense their surroundings more thoroughly.

Brain Chargers: "Artificial" Gravity Children, if such a thing is possible. Brain Chargers were created by the same people who created Gravity Children, in an attempt to replicate the abilities of Gravity Children without the expense of raising them in zero gravity etc. The process of becoming a Brain Charger replaces the person's original personality with one chosen by the creators of the Brain Charger.

Akito/Agito/Lind Wanijima // Air Gear // Reserved

[identity profile] bycoincidence.livejournal.com 2011-04-10 10:51 pm (UTC)(link)
* The Wanijima boy was born with an unknown personality - his mother, Gazelle, a well-known A-T rider who was also a Gravity Child, died while pregnant with him. He was taken from her body and underwent the process of becoming a Brain Charger. His original personality was wiped out before he was able to properly develop it, replaced by the personality of his mother. The resulting child was named Lind, and given to his biological father, Kaito Wanijima, who took him under his wing and raised him. At the point I'm taking Akito/Agito from, he will not be aware of this development, as it's only been pretty recently revealed to readers of Air Gear.

* The stress of the experimentation performed on him, the erasure of his personality, and everything else endured in the Brain Charger experiment caused the first fracture of Lind's personality, with Lind withdrawing until the body was mature enough to handle him, leaving Akito as the dominant personality. Because Akito emerged so early, Kaito generally refers to the boy as Akito by default.

* Akito was raised as Kaito's younger brother rather than his son, and trained very hard from a very young age in the use of A-T. Kaito was a police officer, albeit a horrible one with a complete lack of morals in every way possible, and used Akito to help him track down people who were misusing A-T for various criminal purposes, including underground parts battles, smuggling, and other criminal activity. Kaito trained Akito like a dog, and referred to him as his pet. The training involved a great deal of physical abuse on Kaito's part, as the man is shown frequently to shoot Akito/Agito with rubber bullets and use a bullwhip on him, as well as keeping him in a spherical cage.

* When Akito was forced through this brutal training to start seriously hurting other people, he became extremely stressed and alarmed, which resulted in the second fracture of the personality. Agito emerged, created to protect the pacifist Akito from having to deal with the consequences of the violence he was wreaking, and to avoid the consequences of trying to quit or leaving Kaito.

* Agito became more dominant during the time in the Wind G-Men, Kaito's police division. During this time, Agito became close with a fellow star member of the Wind G-Men, Udou Akira. The two worked together closely until Akira fell in love with a girl who betrayed him and became the subject of one of the division's missions. When Akira defected from the Wind G-Men to stay with the girl despite the betrayal, and ended up taking Agito's Fang Regalia (the special, higher-powered A-T owned by Kings - masters of various special ways of riding A-T), Agito's ability to trust and make friends was severely damaged.

* At some point before the start of the series, Kaito and Akito/Agito were relocated to the town that the main protagonist of the series, Ikki, lives in. They were transferred to help keep the misuse of A-T in check in the area, as it is rather out of hand in the City. As soon as they were set up (which was relatively quickly, since they live in a motorhome and subsist off of instant ramen) Kaito started working as a Wind G-Man again, entering Agito into parts wars and then busting them once they're underway.

* It is during this initial time period in Ikki's town before Akito/Agito meets Ikki that I will be taking them, and will subsequently play through his canon. He currently thinks of Kaito as his older brother that he loves/hates, and is unaware of his own history before becoming Akito. At this point, he believes that Akito is the first personality.

Personality:

This character is essentially MOSTLY a two-in-one, but technically a three-in-one due to the character having multiple distinct personalities. I will do a personality section for each of the main personalities, Akito and Agito, and a quick rundown of Lind, as he is barely ever in control of the body.

Character Notes:
History: Izumi was born in Japan, but spent two years in Italy. Just before the series begins she moved back to Japan with her family. Due to cultural barriers and her own independence, Izumi had a hard time fitting in and making friends. One day she received a strange message on her cell phone that directs her to the train station. Along with Takuya, Tomoki, Junpei and Kouji, she travels on a Trailmon into the Digital World. There they discover that all of the data is being stolen by Cherubimon, and the world is falling apart. They meet up with two Digimon, Bokomon and Neemon. Bokomon tells them of the story of ten legendary warriors who once fought an evil Digimon called Lucemon. They find that they can work together with those spirits to bring an end to Cherubimon’s destruction of the Digital World.

As the group travels along they each find their own spirit which they use to evolve into Digimon. Izumi evolves to become Fairymon, a Digimon with wind-based attacks. As Digimon, the children fight together against the remaining five warriors who have been awakened and corrupted by Cherubimon. Following instructions from their digivices, which were once their cell phones, the children travel to a palace where they meet Seraphimon. Seraphimon explains that after Lucemon’s defeat, he, Ophanimon, and Cherubimon held peace over the land. However Cherubimon was corrupted by evil and locked Ophanimon away and began to destroy the Digital world. Just as they meet however, the corrupted warriors arrive and beat Seraphimon. His data stolen, the children escape with his digiegg.

They also discover that each warrior has not one, but two forms. They have a human-type spirit and a beast type-spirit. Without the beast spirits, they are no match for the other, evil warriors. Soon the children start collecting their own beast spirits so that they can keep fighting. When the group finds themselves at the ocean they are discovered by the corrupted spirit, Ranamon. Evolving into her beast form Calmaramon, Ranamon attacks the group. Hidden underwater, Izumi finds her beast spirit and evolves into Shutumon to fight Calmaramon. Out of the whole group, Izumi is the only one who could control her beast spirit properly on the first go. She scares Calmaramon away and the group is safe.

Soon after everyone finds their beast spirits, they are confronted by the warrior of darkness, Duskmon. He is much more powerful than any foe they had faced up until that point. He easily defeated them all. However they were able to retreat and hide from him. After that, they are trapped by another corrupted warrior, Mercurymon. While trapped, Izumi comes face to face with Ranamon again. Ranamon was able to trick Izumi into eating an apple that made her see that everyone hated her. This plays on Izumi’s insecurities that grew while she was living in Japan. She is able to overcome that insecurity because of her new friends and defeats Ranamon. Eventually the group is able to defeat all of the other warriors and collect their spirits except for Duskmon. Duskmon returns to fight them. However, it turns out that Duskmon is not a normal Digimon like the other four warriors they defeated. He is actually another human who was corrupted by Cherubimon to do his dirty work. Duskmon was really Kouichi, the twin brother of Kouji. Kouichi realizes the truth and joins the group as they continue to look for Ophanimon and defeat Cherubimon.

Current Characters: RUFUS, CROSS, FISCHER, LARSA AND TRISH.

Character: Petros Orcini
Fandom: Trinity Blood
Character Notes:
History: There is nothing known about Petros's past. We know that he was born in 3034 AD and what is known is that he once was a monk before he became Brother Petros Orcini Ph. D, the Chief of the Inquisition and the Head of the Inquisition. The Inquisition, under his command and lead, staged massive purges of Methuselah and other non-humans.

He's battled Abel and AX during a pivotal battle in Carthage. Whilst the other Inquisitors look on, Petros sings the praises of a man that fought with honor. Of course, later on he gets blown up and ends up in bandages only to fight alongside with Ion to bring down Radu. Ion promises that once he kills Radu, Petros can kill him. Of course, Petros, seeing the WARRIOR WITHIN THE SHOTATASTIC BARON, cannot.

He isn't seen again till the Mark of the Saint, where it shows that he's still quite the inquisitor, but there's been ... a change. He seems to find compassion in the heretics that he once hated. Of course, when he shows up again in Albion (England), he's there in full cretin mode. He antagonizes Esther and makes sure that the Pope is tucked behind his behemoth of a body. He's last seen getting into all of his battle gear and getting prepared to fight the Rozenkreuz Orden.

THE KNIGHT OF DESTRUCTION, PETROS ORCINI (TWO)

[identity profile] inquisitorish.livejournal.com 2011-04-13 12:37 am (UTC)(link)
Personality:

On the whole, we don't know much about Petros. We know that he's the fearsome Knight of Destruction: when he got the title or how he go the title, we don't know. What is known is shown through his personality.

To best describe way to describe Petros is to treat him like he has layers. The more you learn about Petros, the more he reveals himself to be deeper than a man that only fights for his God and the Vatican. An omake states that he has his doctorate degree and a love for animals, yet he's such a harsh man in battle.

On the whole, he's a Vatican loyalist. He blushes when the Pope even looks at him and he has a little fanspazz whenever he's around him. He's part of the militant arm of the church, but he isn't as extremist as he makes himself to be.

➜ member of the inquisition

When Petros is first seen, he's arriving with the entire Inquisition in response to an attack on Caterina. He's overconfident in his skills, noting that he would even take down Abel, a member of the Vatican for getting in his way. To him, a friend of a the Methuselah is an enemy of his.

➜ Terran > Methuselah, yet he will do anything to do accomplish his goals.

As the fight between Abel and Petros enfolds right outside Ion's bedroom window, Petros shows that he believes that the Methuselah are unholy creatures that need to be slain by the holy sword of the vatican. It's a reflection on the racial tensions between the humans and the vampires. He acknowledges that his opponents have extra-human powers, he would even go as far as to inject himself with a substance that allows him mimic their acceleration. It's a hypocrisy, but soon it would be revealed that Petros would even inject himself to win a fight. His weapon, the Screamer, is his pride and joy. He truly looks the part of a knight and it's been imbedding into his psyche that he is one.

➜ the honor of a warrior > the outcome of a match and honor as the individual > species

Even though the fight ends and Abel is believed to be dead, Petros doesn't gloat in his victory. He congratulates Abel for being a worthy opponent and that he does deserve respect. Later on, after he gets blown up and he gets healed by AX, he states that Tres is a worthy warrior. Additionally, when Ion does the brave thing and ask Petros that in exchange for his life, if he would help him stop Radu's rampage, Petros doesn't take it. He regards the small Methuselah with honor and respect: he doesn't take Ion's life, but he gained respect for him.

Despite the fact that just a few hours earlier they were enemies, Petros values the individual as a warrior because of the connotations that comes with it: courage, honor, duty, perseverance, loyalty and integrity, there is nothing unholy about such things.

As the series progresses, you see that Petros has defrosted slightly. He's more open to the other race (only slightly, though), especially when Esther is kidnapped by Suleyman's niece. He doesn't assume it was just as simple and starts to mistrust those within the Vatican.

Finally, for a man as stern as he is. He has a soft spot for children and small animals, but he won't let anyone know. It hurts his pride too much to let people know that he is willing to adore the small and the cute.

Current Characters: Aria Montgomery, Ginny Weasley, Haldir

Character: Rose Lalonde
Fandom: Homestuck
Character Notes:
History: Rose' life began thanks to the ectobiological machinations of her future friend John Egbert, who created himself, his friends and their guardians during a session of SBURB so that they could grow up to learn of and play SBURB.

As any fan of Homestuck will know, predetermination has quite the significant role in the characters' lives.

Thus Rose was created, genetically related to her Mom (with whom she would grow up) and Bro, who would go on to teach Dave not quite enough of what he needs to know to be a cool kid. She was then sent on a meteor to Earth, where she was found by Mom and taken in as her own.

For as long as she can remember, Rose's relationship with Mom has been one of antagonism and one-upmanship. She has always interpreted Mom's actions as being insincere, whether it was the funeral held for her beloved cat Jaspers when he died or what Rose perceives as a feigned interest in wizards to counteract her own, genuine interest. In all her years growing up, it never occurred to her that her mother might genuinely care for her, that her interest in wizards may have been genuine or that her mother had gone to such extravagance over Jaspers' funeral because she thought Rose might appreciate it. No, to Rose's mind, all her mother cared about was drinking and one-upmanship.

Though she does her best not to show it, Rose cared deeply for Jaspers and loved to play at psychoanalysing him. It was through these sessions that she became aware of a secret Jaspers was trying to tell her; before she could figure out the meaning, he disappeared and showed up dead. In time she forgot all about it, though her dream self never did, and Jaspers became just something else for her and her mother to compete over, as would be apparent to anyone who saw their fridge.

Over the course of the following years, Rose became friends with three people she met online: Jade Harley, Dave Strider and John Egbert. She also became even more interested in psychoanalysis and wizards (writing purple prose-filled fanfiction of the latter) as well as picking up interests in playing the violin, the bestially strange and fictitious - horrorterrors and eldritch abominations, in other words - and, thanks to a birthday gift from John, knitting. She also has at least some interest in video games, although it is hard to discern if her enthusiasm for SBURB in particular came more from Jade's implication that it would help her bring Jaspers back to life.

Ah yes, SBURB, the biggest influence in Rose's life thus far. The adventure began on April 13th, John's birthday and the day she began playing the game in question. She'd previously been bugging Dave to play the game with her but he was refusing to so much as consider doing so; when John received and installed the client disc for the game Rose was more than happy to act as his server. And so she and John began to explore the game of SBURB, though it soon became clear that neither was quite sure what they were supposed to be doing. Compounding the issue, Rose's connection to the game depended on her internet connection and laptop battery power, neither of which were particularly stable, and this meant she sometimes lost connection at crucial moments. Nevertheless, she managed to get John into the medium (after venturing to the observatory to get a stronger connection) before the meteor that was aiming for his house made contact and killed him.

Re: Rose Lalonde || Homestuck || Reserved || 2/?

[identity profile] knittedfluthlu.livejournal.com 2011-04-13 06:03 pm (UTC)(link)
Now aware of the gravity underlying the seemingly innocent game, Rose found herself simultaneously trying to help John get to grips with the Medium, updating the GameFAQ walkthrough she had published to try to help others who had started the game and pestering Dave to connect as her server player so that she could escape the onslaught of meteors that were coming ever-closer to her home. During the course of her time prior to entering the Medium, she was forced to try and outmanoeuvre her Mom so she could get to the family mausoleum and connect to the emergency back-up generator. Then, when that failed, she made her way to the nearby laboratory (whose internet connection she'd been using) and made off with one of their power hubs - but not before investigations led to her discovering a mutant kitten she named Vodka Mutini, trying and failing to appearify Jaspers (since this would have created a paradox) and discovering what appears to be a little girl's bedroom (strongly implied to be Mom's). It is from this point that Rose adds a scarf to her ensembles.

Mindful of the ever-decreasing countdown which she strongly suspects is counting towards impact time of the meteor, she teleports out and back to her house, specifically what she had thought to be her Mom's room. The meteor impacting with the laboratory and the ensuing fire forces her to flee upstairs, where she does all she can to assist John as she waits for Dave to get hold of his Bro's copy of SBURB and get her into the game. He eventually does so and Rose enters the medium, prototyping her kernelsprite with the princess doll her mother bought for her (which has been Eldritchified by Rose) and Jaspers before she does so.

Rose finds herself in the Land of Light and Rain, with the title Seer of Light. As she gets to grips with killing enemies and discovering more about the game, she finds herself in increasing contact with the Trolls - an alien group of players who blame the kids for ruining their session. The main troll she encounters is Kanaya, though she also converses with Terezi and Tavros early into the session. Additionally, she learns about her dream self from Jade and of some writing that apparently appears on her walls. In Rose's case, this is simply MEOW over and over, the secret Jaspers told her. Eventually it turns out that this is in fact a genetic code - the very code used to create Jade's guardian/pet Bec.

Before Rose can figure this out, however, John is tricked by Terezi into skipping to his seventh gate and is subsequently killed by his Denizen. Dave and Rose spent the next four months trying to learn as much as they could about their doomed session before Dave, the Knight of Time, decided to skip back to before John could make that mistake. He suggests Rose goes to sleep, with the intent being that her past and future dream selves would be able to somehow connect. The future dream self persists until Rose falls asleep (as per Jade's advice) and awakens her true dream self. As promised in the future, her dream self goes to alert Dave's dream self of the fact that he is already awakened, just not aware of it.

While she is asleep, Kanaya has her "first" conversation with Rose - who is actually John using Rose's computer. This leads Kanaya to suspect that Rose isn't all that intelligent, leading to confusion in later conversations where she encounters what she refers to as “Smart Rose“. John also ends up leaving his adopted salamander Casey behind (to later be renamed Viceroy Bubbles Von Salamancer by Rose) and takes Mutie (later Dr. Meowgon Spengler, thanks to John). When Rose wakes up, she goes to find John but just misses him and instead decides to alchemise some useful tools and weapons. The most significant of these are the needlewands, created by combining needles and a wizard statue, which first gave Rose the power of magic, and the Thorns of Oglogoth, made by combining the former needlewands with her Grimoire.

Character: Aang
Fandom: Avatar: The Last Airbender
Character Notes:
History:
► So a long long time ago-- like 112 years ago (+ 3? for AU Yeah) Aang was born-- at the same time Avatar Roku died and given to some monks at the Southern Air Temple where he would be raised. 'Cause Airbenders don't do that parent thing-- but basically Monk Gyatso, the coolest monk with an ancient technique for cake making, was Aang's main monk daddy. He unknowingly revealed himself to be the Avatar, master of all four elements aka this world's sorta Jesus, to the monks by picking four Avatar relics out of thousands of toys.
► Being an Air Nomad, he traveled all over the world and made friends in every nation. At six he went to the Eastern Air Temple with other airbender kids to choose a sky bison to be a life-long companion. He chose Appa!
► Aang is a airbending prodigy! And completely mastered the entire art by ten. He then went on to add to the art, creating his own moves for airbending.
► Because there was the possibility of a war, the monks told him he was the Avatar at age 12 instead of the traditional 16. This was quite a burden since the other children thought he had an unfair advantage in any of their reindeer games and left him out--- which he wouldn't be allowed to join in anyway if they hadn't because of the monks, minus Gyatso, insisting he do nothing but practice bending. Gyatso was the only one understanding of this (probably because he was also bros with Aang's past life Avatar Roku) and treated him as if he was a normal boy and giving him a balance with fun. The other monks were against Gyatso's view on this matter and felt he was too soft on Aang so they decided to send Aang away from Gyatso to the Eastern Air Temple to train there instead. Aang got scared at this and ran away on Appa. They got caught in a storm however and plunged into the sea, where Aang in a semi-unconscious manner entered the Avatar State, accessing all the power of the past lives, and froze Appa and himself in a big ball of ice...
► ...Until Katara broke it open 100 years later at a time where the Fire Nation has been trying to get complete world domination for a while and had committed a mass genocide on the Air Nomads. D: Not as planned.

Aang || A:tLA || Reserved || 2/?

[identity profile] chicken-dance.livejournal.com 2011-04-15 09:51 pm (UTC)(link)
► Welp. He befriends Katara and her brother Sokka, who decide to travel with him to learn waterbending at the Northern Water Tribe after a crazy encounter with, the master of Avatar stalking, Prince Zuko who just happened to be near the Southern Water Tribe at the exact time Aang just happened to fall into a booby trap on an old Fire Nation ship. Talk about destiny!
► Aang, Katara, Sokka, and Appa, who will be known as the Gaang from now on, travel while avoiding Zuko the entire time. The visit the Air Temple and see skeletons and add the flying lemur Momo to their party; They meet a village of chick ninjas; They catch up with Aang's crazy old Earth Kingdom BFF King Bumi; And liberate some Earth benders because Katara had the hots for Haru.
► While helping a village that was getting attacked by a giant panda, Aang got into the spirit world (which Avatars are totally bridges for) and met Avatar Roku's Appa, a dragon named Fang. He gets told through the power of visions that he needs to go to a temple on Crescent Island in the middle of the Fire Nation to visit a statue of Roku so he could talk to Roku. Because talking to your past life needs to be difficult the first time. So the Gaang travel there after the panda lets Sokka go and after some complication with traitorous monks and more Zuko, Aang gets to talk to Roku via statue. Roku tells him that Aang needs to master all the elements and defeat the Fire Lord before the end of summer otherwise Sozin's Comet is going to come grant all the firebenders enough power to take over the world. No really. This is something he will worry about for the rest of the entire show.
► Back to traveling to the Northern Water Tribe! They have a run in with pirates because Katara has issues; Meet and tell off Jet and his merry men; Solve a 100-year-old argument between two tribes with lies; And tell backstory during a storm.
► And then Sokka and Katara get sick so Aang goes to fetch a cure of frozen frogs and got captured by General Zhao, douchebag extraordinaire. Luckily The Blue Spirit aka Zuko had training as a ninja and broke Aang free so Zuko could later capture him himself. Yeah.
► Then more traveling! Aang gets hit on by a fortune teller's assistant; Hides information about Sokka and Katara's dad; Burns Katara accidentally; And freaks out about industrialization.
► Then they reach the Northern Water Tribe! Where they find a waterbending master, Master Pakku, who... hates girls and thinks they should stay in the kitchen and not learn waterbending. But Katara changes his mind because he liked Katara's GranGran and they get taught waterbending by him until Admiral Zhao (yeah he got promoted) launches an attack on the Northern Water Tribe. Aang gets overwhelmed by this and goes to ask advice from the Moon and Ocean spirits, which are there as koi fish endlessly circling each other in a pond-- but he didn't know that at first so Spirit World Trip! He learns that they are the fish from the face steeling spirit Koh but-- can't go back to talk to the fish because Zuko kidnapped his body. Crap. Aang gets saved by the Gaang + Southern Water Tribe Princess/Zuko's New Girlfriend Yue but they are too late in the saving to prevent Admiral Zhao from KILLING THE MOON SPIRIT. The moon is the source of all waterbending so waterbending no longer exists. Also not existing: 90% of tides, eclipses, bright nights, and werewolves. This pisses Aang and the Ocean Spirit off so they merge and wipe out all the Fire Nation in the area. Hurray. Sort of. Yue sacrifices herself and becomes the new Moon Spirit. It's rough for Sokka. They leave the Northern Water Tribe with Katara as Aang's new waterbending teacher because she was so determined she mastered it.
► They go travel to an Earth Kingdom base to be escorted to Omashu to learn Earthbending from King Bumi. Due to a misunderstanding with the General who tries to force the Avatar State out of Aang by putting him in emotional distress they ditch the escort idea and travel to the Omashu themselves.

Tohru Adachi | Persona 4

[identity profile] touchmy12inch.livejournal.com 2011-04-18 12:18 am (UTC)(link)
Character Notes:
History (which i have c/ped from his first app from forever ago): Throughout the course of the game, Adachi is seen as a rookie detective helping to investigate the serial murders taking place in Inaba. He spends a lot of the time apparently doing very little work on the case, and can often be found hanging around at the local supermarket instead.

However, all is not as it seems. After the Investigation Team spares the life of Nametame, tha man they originally thought to be the killer, they soon deduce that Adachi is the only one with the means to have carried out the first two actual murders. The group confront him at a hospital where he is currently overseeing the transportation of Namatame. Adachi is tricked into revealing his link with the murders. He fails to bluff his way out of it and instead flees into the TV world.

The Investigation Team follow him in, and they end up in the reality created by Mayumi Yamano when she entered. Here he reveals that he was in fact responsible for Mayumi's death - using his position on the police force, he took the opportunity to be alone with her and try to make an advance on her. When she rejects him, he grows angry, very different from his normal bumbling personality, and pushes her backwards. This is how he discovers it's possible to put other people into the TV world.

The next victim is Saki Konishi, a student who finds Mayumi's corpse. Adachi questions her rather more than necessary and eventually ends up alone with her in an interrogation room. Again, he attempts to make a move on her and upon rejection, purposely throws her into the TV, knowing full well she'd end up dead.

Nametame, the previous suspect, had realised that those appearing on the Midnight Channel end up dead. When he phones the police, Adachi takes the call and is able to manipulate Nametame into kidnapping people and continuing to place them in the TV world. In this way, Adachi sets up a game that he can watch from outside, getting his kicks this way.

But when a schoolboy, Mitsuo Kubo, is taken in for questioning, assumed to be the one behind the killings, Adachi sees his game about to end. So he puts Kubo into the TV himself, telling the rest of the investigators he'd let the boy go home.

The Investiation Team track down Adachi within the TV world, navigating his world which is a maze of broken roads and police tape. Before their battle, Adachi tells them that he doesn't care what happens to the real world, and that people would be better off as Shadows, unaware of themselves and everyone else. He himself feels hard done by, sent to a backwater town for what he says was a 'small' mistake.

Battle follows, and Adachi is defeated. It's then revealed he'd been manipulated by Ameno-Sagiri, but the detective admitted he'd wanted to fill the real world with fog, and so was not absolved entirely of blame. He's taken back and thrown into prison, agreeing to abide by the rules of the real world.

In the true ending, there's one last communication from Adachi, in the form of a letter sent to the main character. In it, Adachi writes that something about the case still bothers him and wonders if there was someone else behind it all. That's all he has to offer and he's not heard from again.

Thanks to DDD, Adachi got out of jail with the help of William Birkin and Franken Stein. He spent several months on Creeper Island until it was blown up and then headed over to Gundam 00 world to hang around with Regene and generally be useless.

Personality: Once, Adachi was a man embittered by his lot in life. Having worked hard at school to become a police officer, he always felt that the world owed him something more, especially when he found himself transferred to Inaba. He often acted like a goof - because he is one, really. He still has fairly childish elements to his personality despite his age (pushing thirty): for example, when Souji goes to Junes and finds Adachi there, considering whether to buy a magic set meant for kids. He could be immature and often came off as rather incompetent in his job, though perhaps the fact that Dojima never got rid of him implies that Adachi at least got the work done.

➜ Grew up in a household with an abusive, alcoholic father, and a “frigid bitch” for a mother. Once he met Michael Novotny after moving to Pittsburgh when he was 14/15, he spent most of his time at Mikey’s house.

➜ Brian later become one of the most well known ad exec’s in Pittsburgh, making enough money to pay for an amazing loft style apartment and to buy all his clothes from big names such as Prada and Gucci.

➜ Brian gives sperm to one of his best friends Lindsey, so she can have a child with her partner Melanie -- Gus is born on the same night that Brian meets Justin, which inevitably sets into motion a massive change to his life.

➜ Since Justin and Brian continue to have sexual encounters, Justin’s parents soon find out. Justin’s father doesn’t approve, finds Brian’s name, and ends up beating him up outside of Babylon. After this, Justin leaves home and moves in with Brian.

➜ Brian ends up refusing to give up his parental rights to Gus, even after he promises Melanie and Lindsey that he won’t.

➜ Justin accidentally leaves the door unlocked to Brian’s loft and he’s burglarized. Brian kicks Justin out and he runs to New York, after which Brian and the gang go there to find him. They all bring him back home and after some “discussions” between all parties, Justin eventually moves into Michael’s old room in Debbie’s house.

➜ In an attempt to push Michael away and get him back together with his boyfriend, Brian throws a party for Michael, where he outs him to his co-worker and tries to destroy their friendship.

➜ Later, Brian actually finds out that his father has died and a funeral is held, however intensely uncomfortable it turns out to be. Brian later, has his own ceremonial goodbye to his father, throwing his bowling ball out into the street and saying so-long in the only way he knows how.

➜ Brian’s chosen ad exec of the year, and tells everyone he’s got a job in New York and is going to leave. Soon enough, the position is passed on to someone else, much to Brian’s intense displeasure.

➜ Justin begs Brian to take him to his prom and Brian refuses until he eventually gives in and shows up at Justin’s prom. After having a spectular time and dancing in front of everyone, while Justin is walking away from Brian’s car, he ends up being attacked from behind by a boy he goes to school with. Brian rides with him to the hospital, completely distraught and shown crying for the second time of the show.

➜ After Justin’s bashing, Brian refuses to outright visit him in the hospital. However, he does go daily so he can look in on his recovery process. He also ends up winning a hero award for saving Justin’s life.

➜ Once Justin is released from the hospital, Brian and Justin struggle to continue their relationship. Justin still has PTSD and Brian, in an almost uncharacteristic display of gentleness, tries to help him through it, even though his Justin’s mother at first tries to keep them apart. Inevitably, Brian is the only person who can help him through it.

➜ When Justin and Michael end up working on a comic book project by themselves, Brian ends up becoming heinously jealous over the entire thing, ruining a large amount of their work. After having another heartfelt talk with Debbie, he ends up recreating it, continuing to offer up his loft as a work space.

Re: Woody Pride (2/5)

[identity profile] ironysoul.livejournal.com 2011-04-21 06:54 pm (UTC)(link)
Character Notes:
History:
+Woody’s character originated in Woody’s Roundup, a puppetry show for children that aired in the early/mid fifties. It ended in 1957, quite abruptly, with the launch of Sputnik. Woody the doll was manufactured as merchandise.
+ Little is known about the intervening years. Andy’s mom refers to Woody as “an old family toy,” in TS2, and John Lasseter has said that he was passed down Andy’s unpictured father. (Where’s the daaaaa~aaad?)
+ Woody was Andy’s favorite toy and the de facto leader of the toys in Andy’s room until Andy’s sixth or seventh birthday, when Andy recieved a Buzz Lightyear action figure as a present. History has ways of repeating itself.
+ Feeling jealous, Woody tried to “lose” Buzz behind Andy’s desk, but the plot goes awry and Buzz is knocked out the window. Seeing this as an intentional assassination attempt, the other toys threw Woody out after him.
+ Woody manages to follow Andy to Pizza Planet, Buzz in tow, but the Space Ranger leads them into a claw machine where they are toynapped by Andy’s (evil, toy abusing) next door neighbor, Sid.
+ Trapped in Sid’s house, Buzz finally realizes that he’s a toy and experiences something of a psychotic break. However, Woody manages to convince him that the job of a toy is just as important as that of a space ranger. Together, they escape and follow the moving truck to Andy’s new house.
+ Not long after (presumably the following summer) Andy is preparing to go to Cowboy Camp with Andy. However, at the last minute, Andy accidentally tears Woody’s arm and chooses to leave him behind.
+ Soon after, Andy’s mom collected the unused toys for a yard sale. Among them was Wheezy, one of Andy’s other toys. Woody embarked on a rescue mission, and while he was able to successfully return Wheezy to the room, he fell off and was mistaken for a yard sale item and found by Al of Al’s Toy Barn. Although Andy’s mom refused to sell him, Al was persistent, and ended up stealing Woody from the garage sale.
+At Al’s condo, Woody met Jessie, Bullseye, and the Pete the Prospector. They introduced him to Woody’s Roundup, the TV show, and he learned that he, along with the rest of Al’s collection, was to be sent to Japan to be displayed in a museum. Although initially resistant to the idea of leaving, Woody eventually changed his mind and decided to stay with Jessie and Bullseye.
+ During his stay, Al had Woody restored. His ripped arm was mended, his cheeks made rosy again, and Andy’s name painted over on his shoe.
+Meanwhile, Buzz and the toys from Andy’s room made their way to rescue and retrieve Woody. Obviously, they (especially Buzz) had serious objections to Woody going to Japan, but eventually they were forced to abide by his decision.
+As they left, Woody reconsidered and realized Buzz was right. Toys were meant to be played with, not shut away in museums. He decided instead to go back with Buzz, and invited Jessie and Bullseye to come with him. However, Pete strongly objected to this and forced all the toys back into their packing. Al took them to the airport, Buzz et al following close behind.
+ The fight continued through Baggage Claim and onto the plane, but Buzz and the other toys manage to transfer the Pete into a little girl’s luggage. Still, they weren’t in time to stop Woody and Jessie from being loaded onto the plane. At the last possible moment, Buzz and Bullseye rode up, and catch Jessie and Woody as they jumped from the hold.
+ All the toys made it back to Andy’s house, where he played with all of them. Until, of course, he grew up. Most of the toys were donated, but Woody was one he kept until the end.

Character: Kuja
Fandom: Final Fantasy IX
Character Notes:
History:
-24 years prior to the beginning of the game, Garland created Kuja as his angel of death - a Genome powerful enough to incite war and chaos on the planet Gaia. This was so that the flow of Gaian souls would move quicker, allowing Garland to replace those souls with ones from Terra, the planet which he watches over.
-Garland, realizing that Kuja was a defect, creates Zidane; this Genome will grow up naturally, in order to develop the emotions necessary to reach trance. Kuja, because he never learned emotions, was difficult to control. He fails to tell Kuja what's up with that new Genome of his.
-Kuja, feeling threatened by the new Genome, ends up abandoning him on Gaia. If the child Genome survived, Kuja figured he'd just destroy the whole planet anyway, so it wouldn't matter. Because of this, Garland bans Kuja from Terra, in order to protect the Genome Mikoto, who is planned to become the new new angel of death.
-10 years prior to the game's start, Kuja destroys the village of the summoners, Madain Sari. He doesn't share Garland's fear of the Eidolons; instead, he becomes curious about them, and eventually starts to pursue his interests, hoping to use them to increase the death toll on Gaia.
-Kuja begins to form a plan wherein he'll use Alexander, the most powerful Eidolon, to kill Garland and assume control over Terra, in order to prevent himself becoming a soulless Genome vessel when the time came to give the Terran souls bodies.
-In order to do this, Kuja uses Queen Brahne of Alexandria, fostering feelings of greed and hate so that she might go after the crystal shards in the neighboring kingdoms, Lindblum, Cleyra and Burmecia. He also entices her to extract the Eidolons her daughter, Garnet, possesses, in order to use them to destroy the kingdoms she's fighting.
-The events of the game begin, and Garnet is "kidnapped" by Zidane and his friends, in order to go to Lindblum and ask Regent Cid for help with her mother.
-Kuja supplies Brahne with Black Mages, soulless puppets created for war. Some Black Mages will later defect to the Outer Continent.
-Eventually, the party makes their way to the Iifa Tree, where the souls of Gaia and Terra are switched (though they don't know this). They managed to defeat the tree's guardian, stopping the flow of Mist, which Kuja used to incite anger and war on the Mist Continent. Kuja no longer cares; he has gained possession of the powerful Terran ship, the Invincible, and uses it to control Brahne's summoned Bahamut, killing her and destroying the Alexandrian fleet.
-Garnet is crowned queen, and Kuja returns to Alexandria to kill her and gain her crystals so he might summon Alexander. He summons Bahamut to destroy Alexandria; Garnet and Eiko, however, manage to summon the powerful Alexander, who defeats Bahamut with no trouble. Kuja attempts to use the Invincible to gain control over Alexander, but Garland uses the ship to instead destroy Alexander and the entire Alexandrian kingdom. Frustrated by this, Kuja is now determined to find an even more powerful Eidolon.
-Zidane and his party eventually make their way out to Kuja's desert palace (because discriminating megalomaniacs always have palaces with obnoxious minigames); Kuja captures the party and uses their safety to force Zidane to go and retrieve the Gulug stone from a place where no magic is allowed. While Zidane reluctantly attempts to find the stone for him, Kuja attempts to kill the friends Zidane had to leave behind. They escape, just in time for the Gulug stone to be taken from Zidane and Eiko to be kidnapped. Kuja and his crew of Black Mages take off for Mount Gulug, in order to do an extraction spell on Eiko.

[ff9] KUJA; 2/4

[identity profile] liberationis.livejournal.com 2011-04-22 08:33 am (UTC)(link)
-The extraction spell goes wrong and Mog, Eiko's guardian moogle, enters trance and reveals herself to be the Eidolon Madeen. Kuja realizes two things: trance is far more powerful than any summon could be; and, in order to enter trance, all a soul must do is experience a surge of powerful emotions. This is how to beat Garland, he decides, and he makes plans to return to Terra.
-Zidane and company manage to open the gateway to Terra, found on the Shimmering Isle, and enter the new planet unaware that they've just opened the way for Kuja to arrive as well. While Zidane is having one of the most epic identity crises of all Final Fantasy history, Kuja is commandeering the Invincible and absorbing the souls within it in order to reach trance.
-When Zidane and his friends beat Garland, Kuja appears, informing his former master that he is now in control and will rule Terra and Gaia with his unadulterated love. He then proceeds to beat Zidane and his friends up like a middle-school bully, entering trance and nearly killing the party with one Ultima spell.
-He kicks Garland off of the tall tower of his castle and rejoices that he's finally free to rule as he sees fit, immortal and not controlled by anyone but himself. Garland's spirit, however, manages to inform Kuja that he is not immortal; he was only built to last until Zidane reached maturity and could claim his title as the true angel of death. The news of his mortality drives Kuja mad and, as he realizes he's nothing more than a pawn, just as worthless as he deemed the Black Mages to be, he decides that it would be unfair to let the universe exist without him.
-Kuja destroys Terra with the power of his trance; Zidane evacuates the Genomes and his friends on the Invincible, back through the Shimmering Isle. Kuja enters Gaia once more and goes to the Iifa Tree, which he corrupts into emitting so much Mist that it covers the entire planet.
-Zidane and his friends enter Memoria, the world created around the Iifa tree and powered by memory. Here, they learn that all life was originally created out of one source: the Crystal.
-Zidane finally confronts the mad, tranced Kuja in the Crystal's world; Kuja plans to destroy the Crystal and eradicate all life in one fell swoop. When Zidane and company defeats Kuja, he casts Ultima - supposedly killing the group. His fear and anger and need to kill everyone brings about Necron, the great destroyer, who confronts Zidane's party even as the Crystal's world and Memoria begin to collapse. To Necron, Kuja's actions prove that life's ultimate goal is death. Of course, Zidane and his friends defeat Necron, which allows the universe to continue to exist.
-Kuja, wounded and dying, uses his power to teleport Zidane and his friends out of the Iifa Tree as it begins to collapse; Zidane, however, returns to save him. Kuja admits that he's sorry for causing so much death and destruction, and Zidane explains to him that he might've done the same if he'd been in Kuja's shoes. The Iifa Tree collapses with Zidane and Kuja inside.
-The Genomes vow to keep Kuja in their memories, ensuring that he'll live forever, because he taught them that they could defy their fate as vessels if they so chose.

The game, of course, fails to mention if Kuja is alive or dead at the end.

Character: Sam Oliver
Fandom: Reaper
Character Notes:
History:

When Sam Oliver turned 21, the Devil came to him and announced that he had a contract for Sam's soul. He told Sam that for the rest of his life, he would work for him collecting escaped souls and sending them back to Hell. Eventually when he died, he would be remanded there as well to spend eternity. Never being a religious guy, this all came as quite a shock, not least of all his parents' betrayal. He went to them for an explanation, and they told him that before he was born his mother was very sick. They made a deal with the Devil to trade her health for their first child's mortal soul. They never intended on having children after that point, but the Devil tricked them into having Sam.

Sam works at the Work Bench, a hardware store in Seattle. He works there with his best friends Benji and Sock. He also lives with them and spends every waking moment with them, or nearly. A girl named Andi he grew up with also works there and he starts falling for her. He tells Benji and Sock about his deal with the Devil and they help him to reap souls throughout the series. After moving into their new apartment, the three men meet a gay couple that lives across the hall. They're great cooks and a lot of fun besides, and so they spend a lot of time with Tony and Steve from then on. That is, until one day they walk in on Steve and Tony filing their horns. Discovering two of their best friends are demons is kind of terrifying and they aren't initially sure what to do about it. Soon enough it comes to light that Tony and Steve are leading a rebellion against the Devil and are in fact, fallen angels. All they want is to be readmitted into Heaven and the five men become closer than ever.

However, Steven dies in a demon rebellion, Tony and Sam barely escaping with their lives. Plagued by guilt, Tony tries to kill Sam but can't go through with it, and they repair their unwieldy friendship. Sam asks Tony to look over his contract and goes to collect it from his parents. However, his father seems very shifty about the whole ordeal though he eventually agrees and hands over the book--which is surprisingly thick. Tony and a friend of his pour over the contract looking for any loophole that might get Sam out of his deal. What they discover instead is that every page referring to Sam's biological father has been removed.

Tony begins forging a plan to murder Sam. He collects a giant cage he tells Sam will bind the Devil, only on the night of their grandiose plan Sam and his father get trapped inside the cage. Steve had been appearing to Sam in the Work Bench, first as a water stain and then on the camera - though when Sam looks around there's no one there. After getting some advice from Andi, he asks the water stain what Steve wants. Steve comes to him in person and tells him to ask Tony about Cancun. When Sam does mention Cancun, Tony saves Sam, leaving his father trapped underground. It is revealed that 'Cancun' is an euphemism for Heaven, and Steve is in fact an angel again.

Sam Oliver | Reaper 2/5??

[identity profile] hasaqueasysoul.livejournal.com 2011-04-23 06:56 pm (UTC)(link)
Sam mourns his father and more, coming to terms with the fact that his biological father is the Devil. In season two, he meets his half-brother Morgan and starts training him to be a better reaper. The Devil tells them that the one who wins will be the Antichrist and bring about the end of days. Wanting no part in being the Devil's right hand man, Sam tries to set it up so Morgan can win. Somehow, Morgan screws this up each time simply by being so horrible at completely even one day's worth of work. Sam eventually wins which leads Morgan to lose all of his wordly possessions, since the Devil gave him all of them. Also in the second season, Sam's father comes back as a zombie--unable to die because of his deal with the Devil. He lives in Sock's mom's garage (since they move in with Sock when their lease is up on their apartment). Later on his father goes to Hell to discover a way for Sam to regain his soul.

By now, Sam and Andi are very much in love and have dated, but they decide to not resume their courtship until Sam gets his soul back. Meanwhile, Benji is dating a demon named Nina and Sock is dating his step-sister. Tony starts a religion based upon Steve, and demons gather in his house to watch old videos of Steve and try to follow the path of Steve. Nina is part of this group.

Sam's father calls him from Hell and tells him he has what Sam needs. Nina goes to Hell to retrieve him, but comes back with only a piece of paper, saying Sam's dad had to take care of some business in Hell. The paper is blank, however, and Sam initially panicks. Nina throws the paper in fire though and the text appears. It's in a Demon language none of them know however so Sam calls upon Steve for help.

Steve appears to Sam again and tells him he may know how to get out of his deal. If Sam challenges the Devil to a contest of his creation and Sam wins then he can finally be free. Through some poor translating, Steve determines that the way to win is by "mirroring" the Devil and gets Sam a matching suit. Sam wracks his brain all week for something besides reaping that he's good at. Having been a loser all his life, it's quite a difficult task. He eventually settles on a game of quarters--a game Sam has never lost in which you flick a quarter into a shot glass. No matter how drunk he gets he never misses. So he challenges the Devil to this contest, only they both make every shot and it's a draw. Tony comes to Sam and tells him Steve translated the text wrong. The reflection in the text is not Sam, but an actual mirror. The Devil's favorite sin is vanity, and he can't resist looking at himself.

Andi sells her own soul to get Sam a rematch and Sam sets up a mirrored table. It works and the Devil misses again and again. However, when it comes to his turn Steve comes back down from Heaven and breaks Sam's wrist. He claims this is all part of God's plan, and that Sam plays a major role. Sam misses every shot when he tries with his left hand, and the series ends with Andi and Sam both having their souls owned by the Devil. Because the series was cancelled everything is kind of left up in the air.

Personality:

Sam is a complete pushover. No really. Especially when it comes to Andi and his friends. He's loyal to extremes and believes in the greater good. Throughout the first season, Sam refuses to work for the Devil but is quickly persuaded when an innocent life is on the line. Eventually he comes to terms with his otherworldly career and justifies to himself that escaped souls will only hurt the living. However, when there are souls he deems as harmless, like a wayward boxer who took a bribe, he tries to buy them time to fulfill their business on Earth. The Devil always manages to win out, however, no matter how hard Sam tries to outwit him.

Sam believes he isn't good at anything, and this opinion is often reinforced by the Devil, his brother Morgan, Sock, even occasionally Ben and Andi. He's truly hardest on himself, however, and tends to blame himself for anything that may go wrong. So as much as he hates his role working for the Devil, he's good at it and that's hard to give up. It's the first thing he's ever actually been good at and unlike anything else in his life, being a Reaper seems natural.

Current Characters: Lilith Sahl, Christine Daae, Caterina Sforza, Alessandro XVII, Elektra Natchios, Rita Bennett

Character: Peter Parker (Spider-Man)
Fandom: Spider-Man (movie verse)
Character Notes:
History:
-At a very early age, Peter's parents died. He never knew them and how they died is never revealed in the movie.
-His aunt and uncle took him after that. They were his parents in every way that counted. We see at the start of Spider-Man 1 that they do have a good, healthy relationship with each other.
-When Peter was about six, Mary Jane Watson and her family moved in next door. According to May, Peter mistook her for an angel. Peter himself does not remember it.
-The movie begins. We see Peter in what we assume to be his later high school days. He is bullied regularly and only has one friend; Harry Osborn.
-His class goes on a field trip, gets bullied some more, takes some pictures of the girl of his dreams, and then gets bitten by a super spider. Some guys have all the luck.
-He returns home and basically sweats it out for the next twenty-four hours. At the end of it, he finds out his vision is perfect and he has developed a tone body overnight. No, this really happens.
-Peter discovers his powers from different events all in the same day. One where he saves Mary Jane from falling in the cafeteria (Quick reflexes), another where he accidentally hits Flash Thompson with a tray (Web Shooters), when he accidentally beats up Flash (Spider Sense, Agility, Enhanced Strength), when he runs out of school, notices something growing on his fingers, and decides to touch the wall next to him (Ability to climb surfaces), and starts jumping from rooftops (he learns how to use his web shooters and basically fly by shooting out multiple webs).
-Peter begins to obsessively practice his new powers and alienates his uncle and aunt in the process.
-Mary Jane and Peter have a brief encounter after he overhears an argument between MJ's parents. They share each others hopes and dreams for the future. Peter encourages MJ to follow her dreams because he believes she can fulfill them.
-They are interrupted by Mary Jane's boyfriend Flash when he shows up in a car. This prompts Peter to try getting one of his own to win Mary Jane's attention.
-To do this, he decides to try out amateur wrestling. He designs the Spider-Man costume and makes a cheaper version of it for the performance.
-Before the performance, Uncle Ben and Peter have a heart to heart. He tries to get Peter to reconnect with him and explains he has no right to be beating up anyone even if they deserve it. He famously uses the line, “With great power comes great responsibility.” Peter blows off the advise and heads to the match.
-He takes part, gets the name Spider-Man, and wins. Unfortunately when he went to collect it the owner short changed him.
-Peter stomps off. A few minutes later the owner is robbed. When the robber runs past Peter he doesn't stop him in order to get even with the owner. This is a decision that will haunt him the rest of his life.
-He exits the building to find a crime scene. His uncle has been shot by a car thief and is bleeding to death on the sidewalk.
-Peter goes to him but, Ben dies before he can say anything aside from his nephew's name.

Peter "Spider-Man" Parker | Spider-Man 2/?

[identity profile] justasdamaged.livejournal.com 2011-04-26 12:13 am (UTC)(link)
-He discovers the location of the shooter thanks to some cops chatting nearby and rushes off to avenge his uncle.
-Peter eventually catches up with and they fight. During the encounter, Peter discovers the shooter was the same man he let go. The realization devastates him.
-The man tries to use the chance to kill him but, Peter breaks his arm. The shooter trips and falls to his death. Peter doesn't seem all to bothered by it but, makes a hasty retreat nonetheless.
-May and Peter mourn the loss of Ben together.
-Peter decides to follow his uncle's advice. He becomes Spider-Man and begins to protect the city.
-Peter graduates from high school and moves to the city with Harry Osborn. He later finds out Harry and Mary Jane are dating which Harry worked hard to hide from him in order to spare his feelings.
-He gets fired from his job at the college and ends up taking up photography. He pretty much takes pictures of himself and sells them to J. Jameson. This isn't the wisest plan since the editor hates Spider-Man and makes other people hate him in return.
-Green Goblin comes on the scene. He kills the board of directors at Oscorp, nearly kills several other in the process at the World Unity Fair. Spider-Man is able to prevent this (notably rescuing Mary Jane who develops a strong crush on his crime fighting persona afterward), but catches more attention than he bargained for. Later, Green Goblin captures him and tries to convince him to become his partner. Peter is not interested but, the Goblin's argument that people will eventually hate him despite all he's done for them troubles him.
-Spider-Man goes to rescue people from a burning building. This probably isn't all that special for him but, it shows the two conflicting stances on him. People are grateful he comes to rescue them but, the police are still compelled to take him in. They do let him go to rescue others trapped in the building.
-Turns out the whole thing was a trap made by Green Goblin to see if Spider-Man would accept his offer. To no one's surprise, he doesn't, They fight briefly before Peter finds a chance to run off. The building they are fighting in as on fire. :<
-Peter shows up to Thanksgiving. There Norman Osborn (Green Goblin) guesses he is Spider-Man from an injury he gave Peter in the fight. He then proceeds to freak out and insult Mary Jane. Harry doesn't defend her which pretty much destroys their relationship after that.
-Goblin uses this knowledge to harm the people closest to him starting with Aunt May. ;;
-At the hospital, Peter figures out Goblin has discovered his identity. Later, Mary Jane shows up and they talk. Mary Jane confesses her feelings for Spider-Man to Peter who in turn confesses his feelings for her under the excuse that this is what he told Spider-Man. They briefly hold hands until Harry arrives and breaks up the scene.
-Even later that same day, he has another talk with May about his feelings for Mary Jane. At the end, she notes that everyone knows about his feelings for her. This prompts Peter to realize that she could be in danger.
-He calls her and discovers Goblin has kidnapped her. Peter races off to rescue her.
-There he is given a choice to either save her or a group of children in a freight car. He saves them both but, is repeatedly attacked by Goblin. Eventually he manages to grab Spider-Man and throw him into a decaying building.
-They fight. Peter initially loses until Goblin explains what he intends to do to Mary Jane once he's done with him. It pushes him to beat Goblin senseless. He only stops when Goblin reveals himself to be Norman and pleads with Peter to save him. Peter points out all he has done and states that Ben Parker is his father in response.
-Goblin tries to impale him with his hang glider, Peter dodges making the Goblin kill himself by mistake. Norman dies asking Peter to not tell Harry about this.
-Peter does just this. He covers up how his father died leading Harry to think Spider-Man killed his father.
-At the funeral Harry swears revenge, Mary Jane confesses her feelings for Peter which he rejects in order to protect her. The final scene shows Peter back to work as Spider-Man.

Character: Darla
Fandom: Angel

Character Notes:
History: In 1609, an unnamed prostitute lay on her deathbed, dying from syphilis. A priest has been brought in to give her the last rites; however, the priest turns out to be a vampire - The Master, leader of the elite cult Order of Aurelius - and sired the young woman, giving her the name Darla, "dear one".

More than a hundred years will pass before she meets and becomes attracted to a young man in Ireland who is living a rather uneventful life. Darla lures him into an alley before turning him into a vampire. After he awakes, he gains the name Angelus when his sister mistakes him for an angel. He eats his family and drains his entire village dry, much to Darla's amusement and approval. Soon, the two are wreaking havoc everywhere, with Darla teaching Angelus every trick she knows of, and then some.

In London, Darla brings Angelus to her master, only to find out that he does not have any interest in serving the cult the way she did. Darla eventually chooses Angelus over her sire, much to the Master's dismay - but allows them to leave without incident. There, they begin to make the vampire hunter Daniel Holtz's life a living hell, first by continuously evading him, then by killing his entire family and even turning his daughter, Sarah, into a vampire. This fuels the hunter's rage and desire to see the pair die through whatever means necessary, and he is able to trap Angelus and is about to kill him when Darla come to his rescue, almost killing Daniel in the process.

In 1860, Darla sees a fragile woman with a gift, and lures Angelus to her. She is very surprised to find the girl still alive when she returns, only to find out that Angelus has grand plans for the woman: he drives her insane before turning her into one of them. Thus, Drusilla is born into their family. Twenty years later, the three will have another addition to their family, when Drusilla turns a young poet named William into Spike, The Bloody.

In 1898, as a present to Angelus Darla brings to him a bound gypsy girl, telling him that he can do anything he wanted to the girl as long as she can watch. The family of the girl - the Kalderash clan - cursed Angelus with a soul as retaliation. Darla is able to sense the change in her darling boy and immediately banishes him from her sight, disgusted at the very notion that Angelus is now tainted with a soul. She takes Drusilla and Spike in order to hunt down the clan and bargain with the elder: his family's safety, in return for his removal of the soul. However, Spike has already killed the elder's family, and so Darla, robbed of an advantage, kills the elder as well.

In 1990, Angelus catches the three in China, offering himself to Darla and promising her that nothing will have to change, despite the presence of his soul. She reluctantly accepts him back, but notices that Angelus no longer kills without restraint; his victims are now selected, usually the evil-doers in society. She presents him with a challenge and a chance to prove his worth to her: a baby from a missionary family that he has saved. Darla wants Angelus to feed on the child in front of her; however Angelus refuses and instead saves the baby - leaving her in the process.

Little is known about Darla's activities in between the Boxer Rebellion and her appearance in Sunnydale in 1997, other than she has returned to the Master's side. The appearance of Buffy Summers in Sunnydale prompts Darla into coming up with a scheme so that it will be Angel who will kill the slayer; and she follows through on this plan by attacking Buffy's mother and setting Angel up as the culprit. However, the scheme fails and ends with Darla's death at Angel's hands.

Darla | Angel 2/?

[identity profile] zarahjoyce.livejournal.com 2011-04-26 10:09 am (UTC)(link)
Three years later Darla is revived as a human by Wolfram and Hart as a way to torture Angel. However, this comes with a price; living with a soul and learning that she is to die, again, through syphilis. Darla tries to get herself turned into a vampire, but all her efforts fail. It is Angel who convinces her to accept her fate and die peacefully - however, Wolfram and Hart has something else under its sleeve. They bring in Drusilla who turns Darla into a vampire again. She awakes and goes on a rampage against Drusilla for doing it without her permission - but afterwards the two begin their bloody swath in L.A that leads her and Drusilla into eating the lawyers of Wolfram and Hart as payment for their playing with Darla. Angel finds the two and sets them on fire, having descended into a place that puts him in between Angel and Angelus. Lindsey takes care of Darla as she slowly heals from the wounds.

As a way for Angel to feel something, anything, the next time he sees Darla, he grabs her and treats her violently - and they have sex. Afterwards, much to Darla's anger she fails to awaken Angelus, as his time with her is 'perfect despair' instead of happiness. She leaves L.A...

...only to come back, pregnant. She returns to Angel because he is her last resort, as she is unable to find out what's inside of her and why it's there in the first place. Darla has already tried a multitude of ways to kill the baby, only a mystical barrier does not allow her to harm it. A visit to the hospital leads Angel and his team to realize that, instead of a monster, Darla will be giving birth to a healthy baby boy - with a soul that nearly drives his mother insane. Angel soon realizes that Darla has grown to love the baby through her sharing of his soul with him, and that she is afraid that once the baby is born she will no longer remember loving him and will, instead, seek ways to kill him. Complications arise when the baby is endangered hours before Darla is due to give birth, as the vampire's body is threatening to kill the boy - as well as the vampire hunter Daniel Holtz is once again trying to kill them.  In an alley, Darla tells Angel that the baby is the only good thing they did together - before staking herself in order to allow the baby to live.

Personality: Darla is bold, intelligent, and charming. She is also cunning, ruthless and without mercy, with a bloodlust that can rival that of Angelus'. After all, she did teach him. In the Angel episode of BtVS, Darla is shown to be manipulative as well - maneuvering events so that Angel will be blamed for harming Joyce Summers instead of her, leading to a battle between vampire and slayer which should have ended one - or possibly even both of them.

Even when she is resurrected as a human, Darla retains the wickedness that four hundred years of being a vampire taught her. She haunts Angel's dreams shamelessly with the use of a magical powder, effectively rendering the vampire dazed and always in a state of fatigue and confusion. She even stages a drama to further disturb Angel, allowing herself to be seen by him several times, having an actor be killed and getting the police involved - all an elaborate ploy with her at the helm, enjoying the effects that she still has on the vampire.

Darla is also very proud. Angelus is the only one whom she treats as an equal; both Drusilla and Spike usually go ignored or unacknowledged by her, treated more like minions rather than "family". Perhaps this is because she is the one who sired Angelus, while the two others aren't from her, so to speak. Or, it can also be that she is initially jealous of Drusilla, having to share Angelus with her when she was turned. Regardless, some time between the Angelus' desertion, the Boxer Rebellion and the Order's appearance in Sunnydale, Darla has long since stopped being in the company of Drusilla and Spike, with the latter two going on different places than she did.

Character: Momo Adachi
Fandom: Peach Girl
Character Notes:
✿; Momo is often hit on by guys who think she's a party girl due to her skin.
History:
Warning: Major Spoilers.
[ The history and personality section were written by me but they were used in an application for another game. If this is a problem let me know. (http://amourde-patou.livejournal.com/828.html#cutid1)]
Momo grew into a family of moderate wealth. She like any normal girl attended Elementary school, and Middle school. In Middle school she was a part of the swim team and the softball team. Momo easily tans so over the three years of Middle school, her skin color changed completely which would lead to a lot of emotional and social problems in the long run. One day during swim practice, the softball team she was on was practicing before a game. A foul ball landed right in front of Momo. It was pitched by her friend Kazuya Toujigamori, of Toji. After that moment Momo fell in a deep lust for her friend. She managed to ask her friend who Toji likes, and her friend told her that Toji did not like girls with tanned skin. Even after Middle school, Momo still liked Toji and worked very hard to remove her tan.

Momo was able to get her parents to let her attend the same school as Toji. The only problem was that Momo got sick right before the school year started, and was absent for the first week. During that week, cliques formed, lovers got together, and Momo was left out on it all. When she returned back to school, she found herself alone and without any new friends. That is until physical education, when a student by the name of Sae Kashiwagi, became her friend. For the first month or so, all was well until Sae began copying Momo's fashion style, and even began spreading rumors that Momo was a sleezy party girl who loved to tan. Sae was out to get Momo and hated her with all her soul. When Sae asked Momo who she liked, Momo lied and said it was the most popular boy in the school, Kairi Okayasu, who ironically thinks that it was Momo who saved him from drowning during the summer. Sae immediately asked Kairi out, and was rejected, due to Sae being a back stabbing friend, and not being as cute as Momo. Momo found out about this and started liking Kairi as a friend. Quickly rumors started flying like wildfire of Momo and Kairi going out. The Kairi girls decided to go after Momo, but in the end she was saved by Kairi. It was also rumored that they kissed, and Kairi decided to make that rumor true, he kissed Momo.

After that incident, Kairi followed Momo all around school for a couple of days until she told him that she did not like him, she liked Toji, and why she avoided swimming during physical education, and why she always did everything possible to avoid tanning. Sae, being her usual noisy self, had Toji with her and they overheard Momo. The next day Momo found a card in her locker saying "Meet me at the school pool. We need to talk. -Toji". Surprised and curious, Momo went and saw that Kairi had been there upside down in the pool, drowning. She went in and saved him. Sae being the back stabber she was, dragged Toji to the scene and blurted out, "Look there kissing!". It turned up that Momo was giving Kairi CPR. After taking him to the school nurse, Toji and Momo waited outside. That's when Toji asked Momo out, telling her that he never said he didn't like tanned girls. Momo got with him, asking to keep their relationship a secret.

Current Characters: Teddy Altman/Hulkling, Lu-Shen Mao, Akito/Agito/Lind Wanijima

Character: Joker
Fandom: Kuroshitsuji/Black Butler, manga only
Character Notes:
History:

* Joker was born to a prostitute named Karen Taylor, and arrived missing his right arm from just below the shoulder. He was abandoned somewhere in his childhood by his mother, and found his way to the East End, a bad area in England, where he met several other orphans in similar situations to himself and bonded with them like family. Together, the orphans scrounged for food, struggling even with stealingdue to their disabilities. The group was barely surviving, with Joker doing everything he could to support the others, including allowing himself to be beaten in order to keep stolen food and bring it back.

* When Joker was approximately 12-14 years old, he and the other orphans were taken in by Baron Kelvin, a philanthropist who put them up in the Renbon Workhouse, which catered to infirm abandoned children. It isn't stated when, but at some point the group Joker entered the workhouse with were either asked to or decided to start a circus - The Noah's Ark Circus. Joker chose stage names for each of his friends - Beast, Doll, and Dagger, along with other friends Wendy and Peter (it is uncertain if these are stage names or not).

* Either before or during the time Joker and Co. were running the Circus, Baron Kelvin became obsessed with Ciel Phantomhive and his family, and fell into a depraved state because of it, altering his body in an attempt to be beautiful and special like they were. Because of this depraved obsession, Baron Kelvin's previously kind and philanthropic nature changed into a disgusting perversion of who he used to be. After missing out on the ritual that caused Ciel to summon Sebastian, Baron Kelvin swore he would recreate the night, and in order to do so, he threatened the children remaining in Renbon Workhouse to coerce Joker and the rest of the Circus group into kidnapping children in the various towns they performed in and bring them to Baron Kelvin to satisfy his perverse desires.

Joker // Kuroshitsuji (Black Butler) // unreserved

[identity profile] spatastrophe.livejournal.com 2011-04-28 07:54 am (UTC)(link)
* Several behind-the-scenes things happened at this point that Joker is either permanently unaware of or unaware of until immediately before his death. For example, there were no children remaining at Renbon Workhouse, as Baron Kelvin had abandoned the place shortly after losing his philanthropic nature. Additionally, as Joker found out shortly before his death, the bones of the children that Baron Kelvin killed out of neglect or a desire to see them perform circus acts they were unable to carry out, were used to create the strangely functional prosthetics used by the Circus group. Finding this out caused Joker to become physically ill and throw up.

* I will be taking Joker from approximately the same timeline that Cnd has taken Sebastian from, in order to do canon moves with Sebastian later. While this is before Joker's appearance in the manga, we are very aware that he has been kidnapping children as noted above for quite a long while (possibly as long as two and a half or three years) before he enters the manga, and his daily life with the Circus is pretty well-documented in his arc.

Personality:

Strengths

* Joker is an intensely compassionate person. He has endless depths of empathy for anyone with a difficult past, and will go very much out of his way to be comforting and supportive and help "rescue" people that are in bad situations. He shows this by how he treated both Sebastian and Ciel before knowing who they really were. He does this because he himself, and his "family" have been through so much hardship themselves that he can understand the feeling of being forsaken by family and country, and wants, desperately, to help others as he was helped.

* While a portion of it is an act, to some extent, Joker is actually something of a clown. He is a flirty goofball who likes to tease people and sometimes troll them. He does amusing things to make others laugh, isn't that easily offended, and is easygoing enough to roll with the punches and keep himself lighthearted. He's also a bit of a ham, willing to bring attention to himself and look a bit silly for the amusment of others - it's the reason he was a good choice to be the coordinator/ringmaster of the Circus.

* Joker is also an incredibly loyal friend and very protective of people he cares about. He's spent a good portion of his life in the pursuit of making sure that people he cares about are safe, from when he was very young and trying to provide for and protect the people he loved from the poverty of life in the East End. He participates in the disgusting activities Baron Kelvin is associated with just to protect his "little brothers and sisters" at Renbon Workhouse, to pacify Baron Kelvin into not harming them or revoking support for them. In a more poignant example, he was, by his own choice, the only person in the Circus who knew what Baron Kelvin was doing with the children that they kidnapped. He essentially took the majority of the pain of guilt and knowledge onto himself, making himself the only liason with the terrifying "Father," Baron Kelvin, to protect the others from having to deal with what he is dealing with.

* As the previous point touched on, Joker is self-sacrificing, making sure that he himself takes the brunt of damage that is done in consequence of the Circus' actions. He makes himself the scapegoat, he does the things that are least forgiveable, and when he was a child, he even took the brunt of the physical damage that was required to provide for his group of friends/family. He even denies himself a relationship with Beast, sacrificing his closeness with someone he cares for very deeply to avoid having to burden her with the truth of what they're doing for Father/Baron Kelvin. Joker is also very hard-working, never feeling sorry for himself or stopping to rest on his quest to take care of the people he loves and ensure their safety. He's spent a lifetime surviving, and he will continue to do so until his death.

Undertaker | Kuroshitsuji | And thankfully I already had the app written up so 2/4

[identity profile] dyinglaughing.livejournal.com 2011-04-28 01:03 pm (UTC)(link)
Character Notes:
History: Basically, Undertaker was a Shinigami at one point in time and then he retired to go hang out in London with dead people. When he’s not digging graves, he still helps out and re-shelves stuff in the Shinigami Library. Granted, he’s pretty terrible at remember to re-shelve the crap he checks out.

Anyway, now he works, oh so originally, as an undertaker. It would hardly be important if he didn’t manage to be in charge of the bodies of people that get killed by weird supernatural things. This weird market that he has the monopoly on gives him enough information to act as an informant to Ciel. As long as he gets his payment of choice, that is. His payment of choice being, weirdly, laughter. I guess if I worked with dead people all the time, I’d need something to snicker at too.

Personality: Creepy, but then, what else would you expert from me at this point? But no, he’s sufficiently odd. He likes being creepy because, well, people’s reactions to his behavior is hilarious.

He’s got connections with the underworld which is why he ends up being an informant for Ciel; weird, supernatural murder victims show up at his morgue and so he gets to find out a lot of things about their death that Scotland Yard wouldn’t get to know, because they’d pay him with Victoria’s cashmoney which he has no real desire for. Nope, he does his thang in exchange for a serious case of the giggles.

He’s very informal to people of a higher rank than him, probably once again for the sake of a reaction. Undertaker lives his life devoted to researching the deceased, taking out their organs and studying them. He tends to call the dead people chillin’ in his place of business his “guests” and enjoys talking to them and sharing his tea and biscuits with them.
Other: tl;dr – he’s Stein without a barber or a nail file. No but seriously. (http://images1.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20090815134846/kuroshitsuji/images/thumb/2/2c/Undertaker_shinigami.png/827px-Undertaker_shinigami.png)

Character: Flynn Rider / Eugene Fitzherbert
Fandom: Disney's Tangled
Character Notes:
History: Eugene doesn't remember his parents, ever since he could recall he was an orphan. He was raised in a small orphanage within the walls of the royal city. He was the eldest within a few years, and he protected and helped teach the younger ones. He never felt much like a protector, though.

He realized quickly that Eugene wouldn't make it far in this world. He'd be a poor, lowly peasant for the rest of his days, and he didn't want that. He idolized the man in the stories read to them by the heads of the orphanage. Flynn Rider, a daredevil, thief, jack of all trades, and great with the ladies. Rich beyond imagination and taking what he needed or wanted. That was the life Eugene wanted.

So he ran away from the orphanage and settled within the forest near the city. He stole from travelers and made a name for himself, Flynn Rider, a name stolen from his own past. He got good at it, he had to in order to survive. He stole from whoever went down the paths at the wrong hours of the day, stealing what he could and slowly he grew more confident. Soon he was stealing from vendors in the city as well.

The older he grew, the better he got, the more confidence he gained. However, the better he got the more he stole. He more he stole, the more the guards wanted to catch him and make him pay. But it was never enough for him. He wanted to get the best life he possibly could, mounds of money and lots of power.

As he gets better he gets bolder, and by the time he is 22 he has his sights set on the crown of the lost princess. He works with two other criminals, the Stabbington brothers, but that's just for some added help. Crown in hand, well satchel, he manages to escape not only the brothers, but the guards as well. Except for one stubborn horse.

Falling off a cliff is far less fun than it looks in the movies, and Flynn only manages to not break something due to his quick thinking and agility. He manages to hide from the impressive and intimidating steed, but stumbles across a tower. So oddly located Flynn can only assume no one lives there. Or, if they do, he'll just steal from them as well.

Re: 2/?

[identity profile] shesintrouble.livejournal.com 2011-04-29 06:24 am (UTC)(link)
He's sadly mistaken, and some girl with way too much hair knocks him out (with a frying pan of all things), and ties him up with her hair, lives there. He comes to, sore and stiff, and after foiling her far from dastardly plan, gets knocked out and has to come to again.

Her name is Rapunzel, but he calls her Blondie. He does his best to get her to leave him alone, but she is firm on sticking with him. All she wants is for him to take her to see some lanterns, which aren't that impressive, and then return her. That crown will get him quite a bit of cash, and if taking this girl gets him there, fine.

But, then she is sweet. She helps him out of more than one jam, and even heals his hand for him. The more he is around her, the more he realizes he missed out on actually being a child. He grew up far too fast, and she never grew up at all. He reconsiders everything, and finds it oddly satisfying to hear her calling him Eugene. That way he knows she means him and not Flynn Rider, the thief, the rogue, the fantasy.

He messes up, right after the lantern ceremony. He also kisses her, he gets so close, and then he pulls away. To make matters worse, he tries to right the wrong he did with the crown. Some how, she made him want to be a better man.

On his way he runs into the Stabbington brothers, and the next thing he knows he's sailing into the dock of the palace, where he is captured and placed under arrest. He spends only one night in a cell, when they inform him that he is set to be hung.

He hoped she was safe, that she managed to get away from the Stabbington brothers, but... there they were. In a cell. He broke free from the guards and demanded to know how they knew about her hair. They mentioned an old lady. It clicked for Flynn, they had delivered her right into the clutches of Gothel. She was in trouble and he didn't know how he was going to save her. He pleaded with the guards but they wouldn't listen.

Then he was broken out by some unlikely helpers. The men from the Snugly Duckling. He accepted their assistance happily and found, oddest of all, Maximus was in charge of helping him to break out. They settled their differences quickly and are on the trail to save Rapunzel.

From here on out is where I take over.
Personality: Flynn is full of himself, though it's all an act. He is cocky and coy, but has some natural intelligence and a ton of street smarts to go along with it. He manipulates where he can, and uses his dashing good looks or quick wit to get out of bad situations.

He loves money, he loves power, and he loves not getting caught. He is a bit of a narcissistic jerk, but it's just to further get himself out of trouble most of the time. But that's just his weird manner of protecting himself. Don't get too close, act like a jerk, no one will walk all over you or ignore you.

He hates being poor and never wants to go back to it. What he would like to go back to some times is just being Eugene. Not running from everything. He doesn't want to be a jerk, not really, he just wants to be comfortable and rich and enjoy his life. That so much to ask for? Shouldn't be.

But right now he is at his peak of emotions. He is realizing that he is in love with Rapunzel, he's desperate to find her, and he has no idea that once he does it might not be the happy little life he wants it to be. He'd be poor with Rapunzel, which is saying a whole lot. He'd die for her, and he has no idea how literal that might turn out to be.

Character: Madoka Kaname
Fandom: Puella Magi Madoka Magica

Character Notes:

History: When we first meet Madoka Kaname, she’s nothing more or less than an ordinary junior high school student. She’s got a loving family, a couple of close friends, and she’s the class nurse. But there’s nothing special about her on the outside, nothing that would make you think she was special. Certainly nothing that would indicate that she’s actually one of the most important people in the entire multiverse.

One night Madoka has a strange dream where she’s watching a girl fight an impossible battle against a giant monster. The next day, a mysterious transfer student by the name of Homura Akemi transfers into Madoka’s class, and that’s when everything changes. Not only is Homura aloof, insanely smart and athletic, and uncommonly pretty, she also seems to take a direct interest in Madoka, and more to the point, she’s the exact same girl that Madoka saw in her dream the night before. Later that day, Madoka hears a voice in her head calling for help and along with her friend Sayaka, follow it in time to rescue a small ferret-like creature called Kyubey from none other than Homura herself. Before anything else can happen, however, the world around Sayaka and Madoka suddenly changes into a nightmarish, horrific backdrop and the girls are surrounded by equally horrific creatures. Luckily, at that moment the girls are rescued by a magical girl called Mami, who drives away the creatures and heals Kyubey.

Kyubey and Mami explain that Kyubey has the power to grant wishes, but in exchange for the wish and as part of the contract, the girls must agree to become magical girls and fight the witches that plague the city. Kyubey adds that both Sayaka and Madoka have the potential, but Mami adds that they should both think carefully about their wishes before they make them, since if they became magical girls, they’d be risking their lives. Mami invites the two girls with her on a witch hunt the next day, and after school, they track the witch to a building where a woman is being controlled to commit suicide. The three girls make their way into the witch’s barrier, and Mami defeats it, saving the woman and earning a Grief Seed from the witch, a magical object that can be used to recharge Mami’s Soul Gem, the source of her magical power.

During another witch hunt with Mami, Mami reveals to Madoka and Sayaka that she made her wish after she was in a traffic accident, and didn’t have time to think about it, and also warns Sayaka about making a wish for somebody else’s sake. The next day, Sayaka and Madoka find a Grief Seed embedded in the wall of a hospital. Madoka runs to find Mami, and when she returns, Sayaka and Kyubey have already been swallowed up by the witch’s barrier. As Madoka and Mami race to catch up with them, they are stopped by the appearance of Homura, who warns Mami against fighting the witch because this one is different. However, Mami doesn’t listen, and to stop Homura from following them, ties her up with her magic ribbons. Mami and Madoka carry on towards Sayaka, and as they talk, Madoka confesses that her only wish is to become a magical girl and help others so that her life can have some sort of purpose, and adds that Mami doesn’t have to be a magical girl alone anymore. Mami is overjoyed by this, and the two finally reach the centre of the witch’s maze, where the witch, Charlotte, appears. Mami fights her, but suddenly, Charlotte’s form changes into that of a giant caterpillar, and kills Mami by biting off her head while Madoka and Sayaka can only watch. Mami’s death releases the binding on Homura, and she rushes into to defeat the witch and claim the Grief Seed, leaving Madoka and Sayaka to grieve Mami.

Mami’s death sends Madoka into new doubts about becoming a magical girl, and she tells Kyubey that she’s too scared to make a contract with him at the moment. After visiting Mami’s old apartment, Madoka runs into her friend Hitomi, who has a witch’s kiss on her neck and seems to be in a trance. Madoka follows her to a building where other people with witch’s kisses are gathering to commit a joint suicide. Madoka manages to stop the process at the last minute, but she’s swallowed into the witch’s barrier herself. Suddenly though, Sayaka rescues her as a magical girl, as it turns out that Sayaka had made a wish to give the boy she loved back the use of his arm so that he could play the violin again.

Madoka is worried about Sayaka becoming a magical girl, since it seems so dangerous, and meets Homura at a coffee shop, asking her to look out for Sayaka. Homura tells her that she can’t, since Sayaka already made the wrong choice and it’d be better if Madoka gave up on her, and once again warns Madoka not to become a magical girl. Madoka is even more worried, and follows Sayaka to her first fight. However, while Sayaka is trying to defeat a witch’s familiar, a new magical girl called Kyoko suddenly appears and stops the fight, explaining that it’s stupid for Sayaka to waste her energy on familiars that can’t drop Grief Seeds. Sayaka and Kyoko begin to fight, but all of a sudden, Homura appears and interrupts the girls.

Current Characters: Rock Howard, Nate Grey, Rei Suzumura

Character: Soma Cruz
Fandom: Castlevania

Character Notes:
History:

» Soma's early life is pretty much nonexistent as far as we know outside of the fact that he's supposed to be a Spanish exchange student in Japan [in the American version, anyway], but it's implied that he's had a pretty normal childhood. Things really don't start heating up for him until he's 18 and studying in Japan.

» In the year 2035, Soma was going to visit his friend Mina Hakuba at her family's shrine to watch the first eclipse of the 21st century. However, when on his way to do so, he blacks out and he and Mina find themselves in a strange castle.

» Soon Soma and Mina find out that they aren't the only ones there – a mysterious man going by the name of Arikado is also there, and it's though a short skirmish with some zombies that Soma finds out that he has what is called the “Power of Dominance”, which allows him to control the souls of the various creatures that haunt Dracula's castle.

» Though Soma's travels through the castle to try and find a way out, he encounters others that have been pulled in – and he starts to realize that it's by no coincidence that he was pulled into this place. After Dracula's demise in 1999, a prophecy foretold of his reincarnation – though nobody knew who that was at the time.

» He later meets up with several others, including Yoko Belinades, a witch in the employ of the Church, Hammer, a former U.S. Army operative that was sent to investigate the shenanigans, and Graham Jones, a man who believes himself to be the reincarnation of Dracula, since he was born at the same time that Dracula was defeated in 1999. Soma also meets a man who is only known as “J”, Julius Belmont, the last of the legendary vampire slayer clan and also the man who defeated Dracula in 1999.

» As Soma moves along, he eventually ends up absorbing many of the monsters' souls within the castle, giving him incredible powers. He eventually confronts Graham in the castle's keep, who accuses him of “grand theft” before opting to trying to destroy Soma.

» After defeating Graham and his transformed form and absorbing his power, Soma then realizes that, in fact, he is Dracula's reincarnation and the one to inherit Dracula's dark powers. Julius then confronts him, and the two battle, but Soma realizes that Julius had been holding back, if only because he could sense Soma's spirit fighting off Dracula's influence. Soma then makes Julius promise him that if he ever fully becomes Dracula, to kill him.

» Arikado then tells Soma that if he wants to leave, along with Mina and Yoko, he must cut off the castle's chaotic energy at the source, in a place only “Dracula” could go. Soma then agrees to go, and defeats the chaotic energy at its source. Afterward, he's congratulated by the others, which serves to help him keep the dark forces at bay, and wakes up outside the Shrine with Mina, relieved that the incident's over. Also, it apparently seems that Soma lost his abilities when he and Mina escaped the castle at the end of the game.

[identity profile] pimpcoats.livejournal.com 2011-04-30 09:14 pm (UTC)(link)
Personality: For the most part, Soma's a pretty normal teenager from the future. He's said to exude an aura around him that makes him seem distant and hard to get along with, but that begins to dissipate by the end of Aria of Sorrow, and he has become more open and trusting toward others. He's especially close to Mina Hakuba, the daughter of the caretaker of the Hakuba shrine and also Soma's childhood friend.

He is somewhat impulsive, and if his emotions get too out of control or he faces/absorbs a massive amount of dark energy, he is the most in danger of turning into the very thing he is fighting to retain his identity: the next Count Dracula.

Some of his interactions with other people during the games show that he's actually somewhat naive, but usually pretty cordial toward others, like when talking with Graham before he finds out about Soma's power or when talking with Yoko, where she teases him about being on her side shortly after Graham spazzes out about his abilities.

Through his adventures in the castle, he toughens up and realizes that the world really isn't so much black-and-white as he originally would've thought prior to being brought into this.

Other: No reset, Soma retains the memories of everyone that he's met through the community and is currently between of Aria of Sorrow and Dawn of Sorrow canon-wise.

First Person (entry type): [ voice post ; during Aria of Sorrow ]

You know, I shouldn't really be surprised that this is the only thing I can connect to right now. I'm... sorry if I worried anyone before, I'm fine, for the time being. Just need to figure out how to navigate this place some more.

Though I'm honestly more worried about Mina. Apparently I have no problem navigating this place and fighting my way through, but all she can do right now is wait for me inside a barrier.

Then again... that's more than enough reason for me to keep going. I'm not stopping until I find out what exactly's going on here.

Third Person: It hadn't been too long since Soma had entered the castle, but he could already feel more at home here than he had in a while. Why was that, he wondered. Considering the way this place was, and all the monsters that inhabited it, this place should've felt the farthest thing from home. And yet...

He shook his head. This wasn't what he should be thinking about right now; what was most important was finding a way out of here. His thoughts drifted to Mina, who was waiting for him back at the entrance, and Arikado's words.

“I have to find a way out... but I can't let this rest like this... at least until I get some more answers.”

Resolve renewed for the time being, he quickly dodged an incoming attack from an enchanted skeleton and parried using a sword he had found. It was strange; even his reflexes, though stronger than they were before, felt more natural around here.

Current Characters: None, repplying as Joshua Preston

Character: Joshua Preston
Fandom: Bliss Stage tabletop RPG (http://swingpad.com/dustyboots/wordpress/index.php?page_id=244)
Character Notes:
History:To paraphrase the main rulebook, and modified for the purposes of this game:

Right now, the moment you began reading this, San Francisco was devastated by an alien attack from beyond our understanding. Called the Bliss by those who survived it, it appears to be an impassable psychic field - no physical phenomenon can get in or out - and anyone over the age of 18 in the field is in danger of falling into a permanent sleep the next time they dream. The disturbing smile of the victims is what earned this devastating attack the title of 'The Bliss.'

The children of the area did all they could to survive. At best, this meant street gangs, led by the most capable teenagers. At worst, this meant truly horrific behavior. Joshua has seen both, and is somewhere in between - he has killed, but he has never attacked in anger or stolen where he could have bargained.

Two years from now - two years after the decent of the Bliss - the Nightmares arrived. Aliens with vastly superior technology appeared first in dreams, then in the waking world, and scythed through most of the remaining teenage survivors with the searing rays and noxious smokes of their Terror Drones. Most kids were lucky to have handguns. They were no match for the monsters.

Except... one adult survived. Joshua's father Jim, an ex-cop, denied sleep through his access to the amphetamines in the drug impound, and gathered a paramilitary force of teenagers around him to resist the invasion. This Resistance was small, and had little ability to directly oppose the Nightmares, but they did provide humanitarian aid and escape to the survivors of the Bliss wherever they could.

Five years after the Bliss, through some miracle, the Resistance captured a Terror Drone and managed to reverse-engineer it. Although Alien Numina Inversion Theory is beyond most of the kids there, the basic effect of this device - named the Alien Numina Inversion Machine, or ANIMa - is to translate a dream into an object. This half material and half psychic device is powered by a strong emotion, enhanced by psychic resonance, and in the form of a suitably symbolic weapon or piece of equipment.

In short, the Resistance found a way to weaponize love. And to give it a form that was the bane of the Nightmares - able to slay them despite their being out of phase with the waking world.

Joshua was not part of the Resistance initially - his father was working security for the Job Corps at Treasure Island, and he was at home in the Mission district - but he was soon reunited with his father, driven by rumors that someone had found a way to fight back. He has done so ever since, and has no regrets.

Personality: What it says at the top of his character sheet (http://www.flick.com/~cdr/rpg/bliss/final2/josh.html) is "Eager Young Soldier," and that's a fair summary. He's a fucked up kid with a lot of anger at his father, the world and especially the alien enemy, and a great deal of his motivation for fighting is simple revenge. He wants the Nightmares to bleed for what they did to him.

Joshua is always aware that the aliens killed his Mama through the Bliss and left his Da' a shell of a man - Joshua almost exclusively calls his father by his self-styled rank of Colonel rather than by his name or da' these days - and privately, his father agrees that he's not deserving of being called that. While Joshua respects his father's tactical genius and decades of practical experience, he no longer considers the man to be his beloved Papa.

And yet - a great deal of his outrage at the enemy is a 'never again' mentality. More important than destroying the enemy is protecting the innocent, to him. He joined the Resistance to help children avoid the last seven years of his life, bring some semblance of order and civilization back to his world. He is gentle and soft spoken - introverted, even! - when not playing up his warrior shtick. While he's adept at social situations, they tire him out, and he needs some time alone with his thoughts from time to time.

Joshua is going through puberty, and is beginning to notice girls (and, to a lesser extent, other boys) - which is mortifyingly embarrasing for him. It was so much easier for him to navigate relationships when he could triage people into Allies, Neutrals and Hostiles. Having to add 'lover' to that list is throwing him off, especially when he has a crush on two of his allies - his Anchor (and some of that might be a confused reaction to her almost motherly affection), and his fellow Pilot, Sara Smith. So far he's trying to treat them as friends.

Just friends.

Really.

Unfortunately for him, the very nature of his mecha will force him to deal with those feelings sooner, rather than later - the machine is powered by intimacy and maintained with trust. If he has buried feelings, they are as dangerous to his mecha as unexploded ordinance, and for the same reason. On an intellectual level, Joshua is aware of this. On an emotional level... Josh is fifteen years old.

Other:
Joshua Preston is the pilot of a giant robot called an ANIMa construct, which exists partially in the physical world and partially in the 'dream world.'

ANIMa constructs are powered directly by his psychic bonds to friends and allies. In general, more intimate relationships are more effective when they work: they hit harder, soak more damage, or give him a higher top speed. Trusting weapons are more durable and reliable, however - they have bigger clips, lower energy drains, better maneuverability and cruising speed, and give Joshua's mech more 'hit points.' I'm going to put up a permissions post about his using CR from the game as weaponry, and assuming all CR begins at the default level of Intimacy 1 and Trust 2.

For the purposes of this game, the dream world is the collective unconscious, and theoretically links to every universe: he can, if he can map his way around the emotional and symbolic landmarks, worldhop with it. This will require someone to help him navigate another universe to get to it's waking world.

I think at this point, it's been so long that this is an alternate Josh, restarting his timeline from the point he entered before (sending out a distress signal to the comm). Feel free to remember him, of course.
