Character: Lambdadelta
Fandom: Umineko no Naku Koro ni
Character Notes:
History:
Only a few things're known about Lambdadelta pre-Umineko. As a Voyager Witch she's been traveling between worlds for quite a long time. While unverified, she claims ancient kings attempted to curry her favor. At a likely early point in her existence as a witch, she became stuck in a logic contradiction, and was forced to spend a eternity in it until she figured out a solution.

One of the things she's been doing is granting wishes to people that interested her. Only two made wishes that she found particularly promising. One wish is implied to have led to the events of Higurashi, and while the wishmaker let her down, that 'game' brought Bernkastel into existence. The other wish, by Beatrice to be acknowledged as a witch, led to the setup that became Umineko. At this point, Lambdadelta summoned her dear friend Bernkastel to join her in this new game.

This led to a series of 'games' that consisted of ritualistic murders on the isolated island Rokkenjima, which repeated in a loop of different iterations due to Battler's refusal to acknowledge those murders as the work of magic, pitting him against the witch's side in a battle of logic. Lurking in the background of the games, Lambdadelta didn't take too overt action at first. Her goal was to entrap Bernkastel in an endless game, and she pressured Beatrice to this end, promising her punishment if she lost.

Then she started stepping in, taking measures to prevent a premature end such as sabotaging Bernkastel's introduction of Ange by ensuring that Ange could only be used to her full powerful effectiveness once, and chaining Beatrice to the game table to prevent her from leaving it. In the end, Beatrice's consciousness collapsed, but she remained trapped by that chain, unable to surrender until a truly decisive victory had been reached.

So, in order to keep the game going, Lambdadelta stepped in and took over Beatrice's position as Gamemaster. In disgust at this takeover of the role he considered Beatrice's, Battler refused to play, but accepted Bernkastel's taking over his own place as a player. And so the game between Beatrice and Battler became a game between Lambdadelta and Bernkastel.

Lambdadelta thus proceeded with running her own 'cute' game, taking it in different directions than Beatrice had, ones displeasing to Beatrice's servants and Battler. The game was suspended when Bernkastel decided to give her answer about the culprit. But then Battler understood the truth and became the new gamemaster, and Lambdadelta acknowledged it and handed the 'chessboard' of Rokkenjima over to him.

The canon point is just before the start of the sixth game (the same point as Battler's current point).

Personality:
The most immediate impression of Lambdadelta tends to be as a weird and childish person. Making bizarre declarations such as calling herself super paper in a paper-rock-scissors of witches' strength, throwing a tantrum after being teased about Santa not coming for her, her love for candy, and so on.

Not only that, but she often comes off as prideful and boastful, with her proclamations of herself as the strongest witch and the Witch of Certainty who can make something absolutely certain without fail, etc.

But underlying this is a cunning mind. At many points she discusses the games quite seriously. For example, she completely demolished Battler's shoddy arguments at the end of the fourth game in her private lovemaking discussion session with Bernkastel afterward.

Not only that, but she can be fairly cruel and merciless. There's a definite sadistic delight in the manner in which she talks about her 'punishment games' and she'll rig people into almost impossible situations, such as having to choose between having their own husband killed or sitting in a closet while listening to someone getting murdered and doing nothing about it.

And yet, she has a special liking for those with the determination to make their efforts come true, no matter how difficult it might be. She's been known not only to show mercy to them, but to aid them. That's right! She'll even give her all for them! To the point where it literally kills her! Determined underdogs, Lambdadelta's here for you! Although she's so frequently disappointed, by people with paltry ambitions, or whose efforts stop short of that needed to realize their desires.

Boredom is her worst enemy as it generally is for witches like her. A lot of what she does is to distract herself from the hell she was trapped in as she spent what seemed like an eternity trying to figure her way out of the logic error she had trapped herself in. She still fears that the life she is living now isn't reality, that she's just suffering a delusion while still trapped in that hell.

Other:
Lambdadelta is, quite simply, overpowered even for an Umineko witch. Fortunately, she tends to exercise a fair amount of restraint, often preferring to act through subtle means rather than simply using her magic willy nilly. I plan to be quite, quite careful with uses of her formidable magical talents as to avoid godmoding people.

Also, my apologies for doing an intro as a sample, but I felt that Lambdadelta would have a distinctive voice even in an intro. I can come up with an alternative sample if requested.

First Person (entry type):
Found you!

Or are there any other possible explanations for the visitors out of nowhere, like that violet-haired girl who keeps showing up? Definitely, certainly not!

You see, ever since I found you on my book, I've been observing you. Such a wonderfully marvelous thing, an internet community that spans worlds! Ahh, if only I had thought it up. It's definitely a wonderful game, and one I'll play!

After all, it's a game with power beyond even that of the strongest witch in existence. Even if I tried, I wouldn't be able to bulge it from my book. Yes, I can see that I'm in a player in this game regardless or not I want to play. There's no need to humilate myself with multiple futile attempts, right?

Good thing this promises to be a game that won't bore me! Whoever might be responsible for this game, as the Witch of Certainty, I accept your challenge! I must say I approve of the duck theme. It's perfectly cute and <pop> enough for me.

Third Person:

[A cake had appeared in front of her. A mysterious, suspicious cake. One that couldn't possibly be anything other than a trap intended for her. Carefully, she inspects it with all her senses. It looks like a wonderfully delicious, delectable cake. It smells like a wonderfully delicious, delectable cake. It tastes like a wonderfully delicious, delectable cake.

Ahh, so worth falling into the obvious trap. As Lambdadelta tumbles into the new shape the virus is forcing her into, she feels no regrets. Such wonderful cakes're worth it.

And this virus looks like one that won't bore her.

What? This shape was not cute at all! Such a hideous shape to find herself in, with the bulbous eyes and the warty skin, and the dull gray mottled colors. So humiliating, to be in an ugly shape like that. One not befitting for a witch like her. Something pink would've been better.

Yes, this virus definitely wouldn't bore her.

The cake was still worth it. Ahh, how the memories of its sweetness fulling her taste buds continues to tickle her tongue.]

I'm sorry, but this application has been rejected. I found that the overall writing level wasn't quite up to par, making it difficult to get a sense of Gwen's character from your samples. I would also like to see a more balanced personality section. There's a lot in the application about Gwen's positive traits, but no negative ones, making her come off as a bit unbalanced as a character. Please feel free to reapply for either this character or another one!

Character: Bo Jones
Fandom: Lost Girl
Character Notes:
History:
" Life's hard when you don't know who you are. It's harder if you don't know what you are. My love carries a death sentence. I was lost for years, searching while hiding, only to find I belonged to a world hidden from humans. I won't hide anymore! I will live the life I choose!"
-episode intro

The whole of Bo can be summed up in the title: She is a succubus that was lost for years. She had no idea who she was, what she was, or the history behind her parentage. All she knew was when she was hungry, she felt the urge to have sex with someone which always ended in that person's death. It wasn't until the opening of Lost Girl that she even knew that the Fae existed and that she was a succubus. How could that be?

As it turned out, Bo had been given up to a human family as an infant. These humans had no idea about the Fae and raised the little baby as their own. Bo had a completely normal human upbringing. That is, until she was eighteen and she was losing her virginity to her first love, Kyle Williams. This also marked her first kill as a succubus, and had her run away from home to escape the murder. Forging new IDs ("Bo Jones" is actually one of her many fake names, as the name she actually grew up with was Beth Dennis, a name she no longer goes by) and skipping town each time she gave into her succubus urges and killed someone.

It was her ineptitude as a succubus that captured the attention of the Fae in the first episode. To save a young female runaway from a rapist, she fed off the rapist's sexual chi and killed him, taking the runaway, Kenzi, back to the abandoned building she was calling home and leaving the body in the elevator she killed him in. This kill caught the attention of law enforcement, as smiling dead bodies are wont to do, and two officers in particular: Dyson and Hale, two Fae working as police detectives that investigate Fae kill. They eventually find her and capture her so the Fae Elders could mete out their punishment.

As it is, they know she's not aligned with either the Light or the Dark, and she would have to choose a side. While the Ash, the leader of the Light Fae, and the Morrigan, the leader of the Dark, talk about either killing the outlier or forcing her to choose a side, Bo learns what she is from the Ash's human doctor Lauren. And she finds out that as a succubus, as a Fae, she is not alone. She is not weird or a freak. And she can learn to control her feeding, not to kill anymore. But the Ash and the Morrigan need her to choose a side. So they force her to prove herself in a physical and mental battle against two Underfae in a trial by combat. She nearly loses in the mental battle… until Kenzi sneaks in and screams at Bo to wake up, come back to them, she's dying. That was what cemented her decision as to what side she would choose:

Neither.

And now, as the first neutral Fae, Bo lived aware of what she was, learning how to control her abilities, and what her new world held for her. With Kenzi's help, she set herself up as a private investigator, taking jobs for both sides of the Fae, and learning more about herself, her biological family, and why she was lost for all those years.

A lot happens as she looks, most of it including teaching herself to control her abilities and hunger, meeting other Fae, and falling in love with both a Were-Shifter by the name of Dyson (yes, the same one that investigated her kill) and the human doctor, Lauren. One Fae she meets happens to be another succubus, the first other succubus she's ever met, by the name of Saskia. She teachers her how to not just suck chi with a kiss, but give it back, and tries to take Bo completely under her wing. However, Bo's relationship with the Light does not sit well with this Dark Fae, and Saskia leaves town after helping Bo with a case including their polar opposite, a Fae that feeds on sexual shame, an alabaster.

As time goes on, her relationships with both Dyson and Lauren are strained. Dyson, while Light Fae and thus supposedly loyal to the Ash, is actually quite loyal to a seemingly innocent barkeep by the name of Trick. This simple bartender is actually the old Blood King, the one that forced a peace between warring tribes of Fae thousands of years ago and created the divide between them. And as it turns out, they both know who Bo's mother is and try to keep her from finding out. At first, Dyson tries to keep his relationship with Bo strictly sexual: She would only come to him for healing or if she needed a quick boost of power. But that quickly fell apart as he found he was falling in love with her too.

Her relationship with Lauren causes quite a bit of jealousy in Dyson. The animal he shifts into is a wolf, and the succubus he mated with flirting and falling in love with a human girl as well doesn't sit well with him. Also at first, Bo and Lauren had a professional relationship: Lauren helped Bo with anything scientific regarding her cases, and also helped Bo learn how to control her succubus nature. But Lauren was bewitched by Bo from the moment she set eyes on her and they quickly started forming intense unresolved sexual tension. The resolution of that tension, however, was tragic. On the Ash's orders, Lauren kept Bo busy so they could get a Mesmer out of town before Bo came to kill him. She did so by confessing her feelings to Bo, and falling into bed with her for a surprisingly explicit lesbian sex scene on cable television. But her guilt over doing so caused her to tell Bo soon after, and made their relationship immediately over.

Dyson and Bo's love comes to a similarly spectacular end. Dyson finally had enough of the lies regarding Bo's mother and calls her to invite her over so he could tell her who her mother is. However, someone had come back to town.

Saskia.

Or as Dyson knew her, Aoife. Bo's mother.

Aoife drains Dyson of his life, intent on enthralling him to her side, when Bo stops her and stabs her. But Dyson's still drained of chi, and not doing well. So Bo used the technique "Saskia" showed her of giving her chi back to their victims, and saved Dyson's life. While helping him recover and bragging about the new trick she learned, Dyson dropped the bomb. He knew who her mother is. He always knew. And he took her to who knew everything about Aoife, Trick.

Trick explains what happened, about how he used his blood to enforce a peace, and how Aoife, a Light Fae of his clan, opposed it. How she was captured and given to the Dark as a peace offering. The abuse she suffered. Bo went to find Aoife to find out what Aoife had to say and what she wanted, only to find her in her own home baking cookies. Cookies laced with a sleeping agent, of course, that Bo ingested and was taken away to Aoife's mansion, where Aoife revealed her plan as it was already being played out: Assassinate the Light Elders and start a war. Her actions killed several Elders and put the Ash in a coma.

Bo tried to stop her, but she soon found her mother was just a good a fighter as she, perhaps better. As Aoife had her pinned up against a railing and was trying to push her over and down a several flights of stairs drop, Bo suddenly got a rush of power. Dyson had gone to a Norn for help, giving the Norn something to give Bo the strength to defeat Aoife. That something, the Norn revealed as she was taking it, was the passion and love he felt for Bo. The memories would remain, but he would never feel them again. At the same time, Trick was using his powers as the Blood King and writing in his own blood a new outcome to the fight. As Bo overpowered her mother with Dyson's strength, tossing her through the balcony but grabbing her at the last moment, she struggled to raise Aoife back up. She was determined not to let her go. But Trick's writing came through to Aoife, and in the first sane motherly voice she had towards Bo, she told her everything would be okay and forced Bo to let her go. It would have been her death, but someone was seen taking her limp body away, so it's unclear if Aoife is still alive or not.

And as nature abhors a vacuum, so does politics. A new Ash would need to be appointed if the current one remained in a coma. And he seems to have plans for making Bo pick a side...

At the time of writing, only the first season and the first two episodes of the second season has been shown in America, though more has been shown in Canada. As the mun is American, she is going by what has been aired on Syfy.

Personality: Independent, determined, sexual. Those three words can sum this little succubus up quite quickly. Her independence can be seen up above, as she did not even think about choosing a side. This can be seen over and over, as she continually works with both sides of the Fae, regardless of what side they've joined. A most notable entry was in the episode Vexed, as Bo met with a Dark Fae, a vampire, for information on Bo's biological mother, who gave her information about another Dark Fae on death row. We've seen her try to help various Light Fae, such as a carrion eater Aswang, but now we see her try to help a Dark Fae on human death row who had been forced by a Mesmer to kill her children. Not only because the Fae was unjustly imprisoned and would be put to death, but because she knew something about her mother.

And this is where a good lead in to determined lies. Bo will not back down from something once she sets her sights on it. Her mother is the best example, as in Vexed she nearly gets herself killed by the Mesmer Vex as she went after him for the murder of the vampire and the Fae on death row. But when he mentions her mother and that he has information on her, she stops and demands more. It can also be seen in Fae Day, with Bo working as hard as she could to keep a Banshee's death wail from coming true. She never gave up on the young man that the Banshee screamed for, never stopped working to try to help the young Light Fae reconcile with his Dark Fae brother, and even called for an Agallamh for peace, even though if the Agallamh broke due to if the brothers couldn't reconcile it would mean her life.

As a succubus, it's only natural that she's sexual. Bo enjoys her sexual life, is happily and openly bisexual, and doesn't let herself get bogged down by any feelings that she shouldn't be enjoying herself. While her previous kills did make her feel guilty as they were people that did not deserve it and she couldn't control herself, once she learns how to control her abilities she uses them as a weapon. Food For Thought was the first episode she started using her ability to feed as a weapon, draining a guard just enough for him to fall unconscious. In the first episode, It's A Fae Fae Fae World, she was seen using her touch to make the waitress so horny she let Bo walk out without paying. Bo uses this constantly throughout the series, as two examples are as she used it in Food For Thought to seduce a scientist for his badge and a voice sample and The Mourning After to get information from various people to figure out why a young sexually healthy woman would write slut shaming words on her walls and kill herself.

Other: Bo has many sexual related abilities, including the ability to feed off the life force (usually named chi in the series) with a kiss, replenishing someone's chi with the same kiss, inciting lust in a person with her touch, and seeing how much lust a person has by their aura. If she's injured, having sex will accelerate her healing greatly. An interesting thing to note is that her eyes will glow blue when she is draining chi with a kiss, so it's not something she can easily hide.

On the non-sexual side, she is stronger and faster than a human being. If she had fed recently, it's very noticeable, even more so if she had fed off a Fae than a human. She's very proficient with bladed weapons, using them to take down the Underfae in her trial and throughout the series. The Lost Girl Wiki hints at more, but at this time only the first season and the first two episodes of the second season have been shown outside of Canada.

Additional Links: Bo's page on the aformentioned Lost Girl Wiki.

First Person (entry type): I think I hate spiders more than ever before. So, there's this Underfae that feeds on paranoia, right? It looks like this big honking nasty spider and that sucker has a bite that stings like Hell. Turns you into a total paranoid bitch with it too. That reminds me, I need to visit Lauren to thank her and apologize to the Harpy. So you turn into a raging bitch and don't want to leave your house and you even try to kill everyone because you think they're after you! All because of this huge ass spider. Nasty thing. But yeah, Lauren turned on the scientist and got it all figured out.

Geez, Lauren. I think Dyson's jealous of her. I mean, I don't see any reason why. She's human, and I'm so not up to trying out my control on her. Last time I tried on a human I still killed her. So Dyson has nothing to worry about. He's still my wolf in knight's armor.

… still. Something about a little scientist not giving up on you is kind of hot.

Third Person: Oh, bubble baths. Bo sank a little deeper, groaning as the hot water soaked deliciously into her aching muscles. Each twinge of a muscle relaxing reminded her of the beating she took. That one was the wall- oh and yes, that one was the sword piercing her. That one was Dyson, but that one was expected and embraced with a wicked grin. Maybe she should be more careful when fighting Fae she didn't recognize, but she had almost got it. The Fae had something she had been hired on to find, and was very unwilling to give it up. And was pretty damn good with a sword, she'll give it that. Many times she would have gone to Dyson just to have sex with him, to enjoy his company and try to break his shell a bit, but this time she really did need the healing he could offer her.

Why was Dyson so intent on keeping her at arms length? It wasn't like she wasn't hot or there were some definite sparks between them. Bo started scrubbing her own arms, intent on making that dried blood flake off. And she couldn't kill him with a kiss as she could a human. So why did he play hot and cold like that?

Maybe she just needed more cleavage. Bo laughed at herself, shaking her head. If she pulled her shirts down any more she really would spill out of them. "A nice fantasy but a little blunt," she chuckled, moving to the next blood patch. Maybe a bottle of wine and Kenzi's thoughts would help her out. Kenzi did have a way of thinking that was totally different than anyone else's. There were probably some old bad movies on the basic cable they got that they could do the bonding girly thing over.

Character: Izzie Mensforth
Fandom: I Could Never Be Your Woman
Character Notes:
History:
[Note: Izzie hails from the land of cheesy romantic comedies, so the bulk of the film's story is focused more on her mother than on her-- meaning this history section isn't going to be that long. I'm going to opt out of just listing out the plot of the movie, simply because Izzie's part of the story is really only a sideplot involving her a) trying to figure out how to impress a boy in her class, and b) preparing for a school talent show, and a long-winded explanation of that probably isn't really character-driven enough for an app history. If you want me to, though, I can add that on.]

Izzie is a middle school-aged girl who lives in the Los Angeles area with her mom, who works as a writer on a teen sitcom. Based on what little we see of him, it appears that her father is irresponsible and somewhat absentee; upon returning from an outing with him and her half-siblings (both from different mothers), it's mentioned that they took so long to get home because he forgot which kid belonged to which ex-wife, and returned two of them to the wrong houses by accident. She gets along reasonably well with both of her parents, though as she goes through some growing-up changes, she has a few tough times with her mom, as is to be expected.

Overall, she has a pretty typical life for a kid living and growing up in Hollywood. She lives in a nice, big house, and her mom seems to be somewhat wealthy. Her hobbies include guitar-playing and singing, and she writes her own parodied versions of pop songs, changing the lyrics to be about things like the portrayal of women in media, global warming, and the Michael Jackson scandal. She goes to school with the children of celebrity lawyers and television producers. She likes "borrowing" her mom's Rolodex to get the numbers of celebrities for prank-calling purposes. And so on. As far as her life history goes, that's basically all that the movie gives us.

Personality:
Izzie is smack in the middle of early adolescence, which means that she's very childlike at some times, and still surprisingly wise at others. She's starting to lose interest in playing with Barbies and starting to gain interest in boys, but she's in that nebulous period where she still sees the appeal of both. She'll be surprisingly mature one moment, and the next say or do something that will remind everyone just how young she really is. "Precocious" is a good word for her.

Despite being quite socially aware for her age, she's not the type to completely avoid doing or saying things that could be considered offensive-- for example, when her mother points out that derogatorily using the word "ghetto" could be seen as making fun of people who live in "ghettos", Izzie just rolls her eyes and says, "Hey, I didn't make [the word] up", and she's been known to critically use words like "bitch" and "whore" insert Adachi joke here when referring to other girls/women. Basically, she's still a kid, she isn't perfect, and while she has an interest in social issues she isn't at all immune from saying things that others could find offensive or hurtful.

As time goes on, she starts having her moments of surliness and brattiness, and sometimes snaps at or is rude to people (her mother, people at school, etc.), to the point that during a parent-teacher conference, a teacher expresses concern over her attitude and "potty mouth". However, it's indicated that this is a somewhat recent development, so if I'm accepted, that kind of thing wouldn't show up in gameplay for a while.

For the most part, Izzie is a pretty self-confident kid. All of her insecurities are very typical for her age: body image, getting boys to like her, dealing with mean girls in school, and so on. She isn't shy about communicating with her mother or asking her questions, even when it has to do with loaded topics such as love and sex. She's at that time in her life when she's really starting to come into her own and figure out who she is-- and luckily, she's doing a pretty good job of it.

Other:
If accepted, I'll take her from a bit before the start of the movie, and probably start up canon sometime in September or October.

[routed from a guitar discussion board by the community]

Hi. I'm new to this forum, but the bloggers at musicpro.com said this was a good place to ask for recommendations for music books and stuff. I'm eleven and I've been playing for three years, but I just teach myself. Usually I make up my own songs or figure chords out on my own, but if anyone knows about any good songbooks that I could use for practice, that'd be cool.

Thanks.

[set mid-canon, when she's more prone to mood swings]

My school sucks. There are a lot of private schools these days that are really lax and don't give too much homework or tests, so why didn't my mom let me go to one of those? I don't want to switch schools now, but she could have sent me to one when I was in kindergarten, and she didn't. Even my gym class sucks, and I used to like gym, because Mrs. Carson didn't care if you were a little tardy and she didn't have to worry about stupid standardized test scores like all the other teachers did. But now she's on maternity leave and our new teacher is an asshole. Yesterday I took extra time in the locker room because I'd just started my monthly you-know-what, and he made me run three laps around the gym! Everyone agreed it was really unfair.

Sometimes, I miss elementary school a lot.

Third Person:

One big stereotype about California was that everybody was rich and famous and lived in Hollywood. Izzie lived in Hollywood, her mom was sort of famous, and she was pretty sure they were at least a little rich-- but from what she could tell, her life wasn't as impressive and exciting as TV told her it was supposed to be. She didn't have household names as next-door neighbors. She'd never been asked to babysit for the Jolie-Pitt kids (she was pretty sure she'd seen Angelina at Super King once, though). She'd briefly met celebrities at public events she'd been allowed to attend with her mom-- Drew Carey (even more doughy in real life), Johnny Depp (he'd shaken her hand-- swoon), and Kirstie Alley (she'd misheard Izzie's name as "Iggie") were some of the most notable ones-- but she didn't know any of them personally. She didn't go to school with the kids of anybody really famous-- just the kids of the people who worked for the really famous people. Basically, she was second-tier Hollywood-- which was cool, but not as cool as everybody thought, and definitely not as close to the first tier as they assumed it was.

Of course, she knew she was still pretty lucky. She'd have to be a total spoiled brat not to realize that she was better off than a lot of other kids out there. She had a fun dad and a cool mom, even if they were divorced (but it was the twenty-first century; whose parents weren't divorced these days?). Her best friend was pretty great. She was a latchkey kid sometimes, when her mom was busy at the office, but she didn't really mind it. Sure, things would have been more intense and exciting if she lived in TV-style Hollywood-- celebrities on every street, autograph opportunities in every coffee shop-- instead of real-life Hollywood, but when it came down to it? She didn't really feel like complaining.

Character: Georgia Mason
Fandom: The Newsflesh Trilogy
Character Notes:
History: -Born in 2017, three years after the event known as the Rising began, when an untested cure for the common cold was released into the atmosphere and mingled with a manmade cancer cure producing the virus known as Kellis-Amberlee, which promptly started raising the dead. Every single mammal that weighs forty pounds or more is infected with the dormant form of the virus, which activates at death or on contact with the live form of the virus, reanimating the dead or taking over the body of the living and turning them into a shambling zombie.

-Orphaned during the Rising and adopted by the well-known Mason family along with Shaun, a boy of approximately same age though unrelated. They were raised as siblings, though their parents used them more as mascots

-Began blogging professionally at the age of eighteen, classifying herself as a ‘Newsie’, a blogger devoted to reporting the news as untarnished by opinion as possible. There are several blogger classifications- Irwin (journalists who go out and poke zombies for fun), Stewart (journalists who provide their opinions flavoured with facts), Fictionals (bloggers who primarily write stories or poetry), and Aunties (bloggers who post about crafts, cooking, parenting, etc.). Her brother Shaun is an Irwin, as is her mother.

-Currently she and her brother are members of the San Francisco-based blogging site Bridge Supporters, though they've entered a bid to follow the campaign of Republican presidential candidate Peter Ryman as his official bloggers

Personality: Georgia prides herself on being a hardnosed, take-no-prisoners journalist. Her role models include people like Harlan Ellison, Edward R. Murrow, and Walter Cronkite. She values truth above all else, except maybe her brother. As a Newsie, she is always interested in a possible story and won’t let much stop her from following a lead.

As devoted to truth and free journalism as she is, however, she has consideration for the feelings of those involved in her stories-- as she says, she got a dose of journalistic ethics along with her asshole pills when they handed them out to reporters. When she takes up the job of blogging Peter Ryman's presidential campaign with her brother and their friend Buffy, she agrees to keep Ryman's wife Emily out of the campaign for her and their children's safety in spite of Emily's value to the story.

She isn't afraid of making people angry. She can be sarcastic and cynical, even with those who are technically above her in station, and she has no issues with threatening people with a journalistic expose if they try to block her in a way that she sees as unjust. She frequently comes off as prickly, and she doesn't attempt to be any other way.

Georgia is also cautious, a byproduct of living in a world where not only do the dead rise up, but anyone could become a zombie-- just add live virus. Or death-- everyone is infected by the virus, it simply doesn't activate until death or contact with live virus from someone who has already converted. She won't do anything particularly stupid in search for a story, unlike her brother (or so she feels). However, when a story is important enough, she's willing to risk her life for it. She also hates letting anyone see her weaknesses.

Speaking of her brother, Shaun is the most important thing in Georgia's life, although his calling as a zombie-poking Irwin means she believes she'll have to bury him someday. She also thinks that when that someday comes, she won't be far behind him. They have always been together, although they're not blood relatives, both of them adopted and although they're close enough in age to call each other twins, they're not. Their intimacy raises eyebrows-- they are willing and even prefer to sleep in the same room, or adjoining rooms- it comes out in the second book that they are, in fact, in a sexual relationship, though Georgia’s narration of the first book never reveals it. They provide a balance for each other, with Georgia's snarkiness, drive, and passion for truth balancing out Shaun's more laidback demeanour and talent for showmanship.

Other: Georgia has Retinal KA, a condition where live Kellis-Amberlee virus has settled in her eyes. This causes extreme light sensitivity because her pupils are constantly dilated, meaning she always wears sunglasses. However, it also grants her extreme good low-light vision and means she never has to blink, thanks to the virus producing a film over her eyes. She also can’t cry.

First Person Journal Entry: We sent in our application to the Ryman campaign today. It feels like it’s been a long time since we heard about the blogger position, but I know it hasn’t- Buffy still looks like she’s been hit by a Mason-shaped tornado. We had to push her pretty hard to get her through all the licensing hoops, but she’s now a class A-15 blogger. Not that she’ll ever use it if she can help it.

It’ll be worth it if we get the position, and I think we have a pretty good chance. We have a solid portfolio and decent ratings for a team of beta bloggers on our side- Shaun and Buffy bring in the viewers and I bring in the facts. It’s a team that works. It probably doesn’t hurt that we’ve got the Mason Name, too, but I’d like to think that we’re not riding on Mom and Dad’s coat tails.

If we get this, we can make the jump from Bridge Supporters to our own site. That’s counting my chickens before they’re hatched, though. We need to get the position first.

Wish us luck.

Third Person: Georgia popped the lid on her can of coke and turned her chair around, facing the soft glow of her computer monitors. She had a lot of work to get done tonight- two articles that still needed editing and another one to write because it was coming up on deadline. For a beta blogger, consistency and output was important- if people couldn’t count on new content from you, they weren’t going to visit your page.

Writer’s block was always frustrating. She’d been fortunate enough not to suffer from it- most people would say she had too much to say, rather than too little, which suited her just fine and everyone else a lot less. Fortunately, she wasn’t in the habit of suiting other people.
She could hear the rapid-fire tapping of keys from the next room over- Shaun was notoriously hard on keyboards. He had to replace his twice as often as Georgia did. It was soothing and frustrating at the same time. The click of keys told her he was probably doing something useful for once, which was nice, but if he was busy, she wasn’t going to go interrupt him and procrastinate a little longer on what she needed to get done.

She sighed and opened up the first document. Time to get this show on the road.
