Can you please redo your history and personality sections into separate sections, like they are supposed to be? I see a lot of personality in the merged section, but there's no history. This makes it even more difficult to judge how you're going to justify Auron first being in Final Fantasy X and then moving through to Kingdom Hearts II. I don't mind if you make the jump with headcanon, but I need to see that you're familiar with both canons and that you can explain how it's going to work.
Please post the new history and personality sections as comments to this comment, rather than editing your post.

We're sorry, this application has been rejected. The history and personality sections were extremely short, making it difficult to determine if the samples matched. The application was just overall difficult to read without line breaks, as well.
Little is known about where Auron comes from, other than the city of Bevelle which is the home of the Church of Yevon in the world of Spira. I'm inclined to believe that he grew up into the church as a young boy as either an orphan or given to the church by his parents. Auron was trained as a fighting monk in the Church, defending the temples from attacks by fiends.
The Church of Yevon was the only major religion in Spira. It was they who taught that past crimes and use of machina had allowed Sin, a giant monstrosity that traveled the world, to be born. Only through atoning for sins could everyone be one day saved. Auron believed this and worked hard to defend the faithful temples from monsters. He kept his focus on his skills and drew the attention of the higher ups of the Church. He would become the leader of all the fighting monks in the Church and the hand of a high priest's daughter. It would lead to even more promotions, perhaps even becoming a leader of the Church itself.
Auron turned it down. I'm inclined to think that Auron, always one to earn his own way by his hard work, felt that he hadn't earned such a high honor and in turn, couldn't quite trust the spirit in which it was given. For his choice, Auron was shunned by many. That is until he met Braska.
Although people could pray to have Sin leave the land, the only way their prayers were made manifest was by Summoners traveling a pilgrimage around Spira. They visited all the major temples to receive the blessings of fayth, souls trapped in rock, who gave Summoners the means to call upon them in battle as Aeons, or summoning creatures like Ifrit and Shiva. Once a summoner had the blessings of all the fayth, they traveled the ruined city of Zanarkand to receive the blessings of the last fayth and have the Final Aeon. The summoner would face Sin, call the Final Aeon to defeat Sin and die themselves.
Because of the danger, summoners couldn't complete the journey on their own. They needed Guardians to protect them along the way. Impressed with Braska's unwavering faith in his goal, Auron agreed to become his Guardian. Before leaving on their journey, they picked up another man from the jails of Bevelle. This man was a drunk, claiming to be from a Zanarkand where a city actually existed, not a ruin.
This man was named Jecht. Auron didn't get along with him very much. Jecht was very much his opposite, being lazy, too casual and familiar and liked to drink way too much. However, Auron ultimately respected Braska's decisions and the three of them traveled all over the world on pilgrimage. Having not had a real family before, Auron remained fairly stiff, always the one keeping the both of them on course.
But he began to thaw bit by bit. After Jecht agreed to give up drinking, everyone seemed to get along better as a whole. It's why when they were successful and got close to the journey's end, Auron's faith in the quest wavered. He didn't want to lose Braska, who had become his friend. He didn't want to lose Jecht, who in a sick twist to their journey, had to become the Final Aeon. Braska would call upon Jecht to defeat Sin but in turn, would become Sin in a few months. There was no way around the facts.
Despite learning the truth, Braska pressed on and Auron, promising Jecht to protect Braska for the last bit of journey, followed him. They fought Sin and were successful, but Auron was now without the two friends dearest to him. He did not take to this too well.
Filled with righteous anger, Auron traveled back to Zanarkand and confronted the fayth who had bestowed the power of the Final Aeon to Jecht. He tried to kill the fayth and was brutally attacked in turn. Badly injured, he crawled away and into the wilderness. With the help of some strangers, he made it back to Bevelle, slowly succumbing to his injuries.
One of his last promises to both of them was to take care of their kids. Yuna, Braska's daughter, was supposed to be moved to a faraway island. Tidus, Jecht's son, was somewhere in this Zanarkand not a ruin. His life running out, Auron discharged his duty to a Ronso, a tall cat like species, to take care of Yuna. He then died outside the city.
However, in Spira, if someone has strong enough ties and desires to the world, they can overcome death and stay as an Unsent, basically a solid ghost. Auron clung onto needing to avenge his friends and needing to find and raise Tidus the best he could. Now as an Unsent, Auron ran away from people. Already dead, Sin as Jecht couldn't harm him. Sin as Jecht took him to the Zanarkand that existed inside a dream of the large collection of fayth.
Inside this Dream Zanarkand, Auron found Tidus and true to his word, raised him. Between him and Jecht, they hatched a plan to finally break the cycle of death and resurrection of Sin in Spira. They pinned their hopes on Tidus being able to find a way outside of the pilgrimage to finally defeat Sin.
After ten years of raising Tidus, Sin as Jecht helped Auron and Tidus escape the Dream Zanarkand. Auron, with Tidus, joined the pilgrimage of Yuna, who was following in her father's footsteps. Auron, knowing the terrible truth, kept everything to himself, wanting his fellow party members to decide for themselves.
Once they made it to the Final Aeon, Yuna chose to reject the powers, saying she did not want a false hope for the people of Spira. The fayth attacked them and Auron, backed with the entire party, killed the fayth. From then, led by Tidus, they did find a way to finally still Sin, travel deep inside its bowels and defeat Jecht, who had been slowly losing his coherency over the years. They also destroyed the force that kept propelling Sin along.
His revenge finally complete, all his duties done, Auron allowed himself to be Sent by Yuna and to disappear from Spira, to finally reunite with his family.
At least that was what should have happened. Somewhere in the crossing over, caught between one place and another, his soul was plucked away by someone else and cast into a dark prison.
Hades, the lord of the underworld, held mastery of the dead. He held Auron for an unknown amount of time before summoning him. He offered Auron a chance to be "free as a bird" if he would fight a man to the death in his Colosieum. Auron's response? "This is my story and you're not part of it."
Auron couldn't fight with the lord of the dead for very long. He was saved by Sora, Donald and Goofy, who happened to want to chat with Hades. They all escaped together, even away from Cerebus, the three headed guard dog. Sora didn't need a Guardian on his quest so Auron left him and wandered around the Underworld to his own devices.
He couldn't escape the lord of the dead forever. Hades forced him to agree to his demands by slowly sucking out his will and putting it in a little statue. Now unable to fight back, Auron agreed to Hades demands and began the long fight against Hercules. He was fairly close to killing the man until Sora found him, gave him back his will and everyone started ganging up on Hades.
Auron, in his dry way, thanked Sora, but refused to elaborate on his past. He did decide that maybe he should shape his own story that didn't involve constantly protecting others. However, in the end, Auron allowed himself to let go and finally return to Jecht and Braska, who were waiting for him in the Farplane.
(from Asgard app) Should anyone just bump into Auron on the street, all they'd see is an older, quiet man who has seen his share of fighting and might seem rather stoic about being brought into another world. What they'd be missing is a man who sorrows deeply, who loves deeply and who keeps his promises, past death.
Trained as fighting monk in the Church of Yevon, Auron developed an iron will and a keen understanding of the sword. However, his own gut feelings prevented him from progressing to the higher echeleons of the church. He declined to take an easy path he felt he hadn't earned and brought the ire of his higher-ups on his head. Still, he never apologized or backed down from his decision. So even though some situations could benefit from him, Auron is the type of man not to take them if there's something that doesn't quite mesh with his personal code of honor. Whatever is the result of the decision is something he bears on his shoulders willingly.
When Auron believes in something, it is iron clad. When he makes a promise, he will keep it no matter what. When he loves, he hangs onto that feeling and would give up everything for the sake of that person. It might not be overly demonstrative or something he writes on a billboard for everyone to see. But his feelings give him strength and keep him going far longer than most people ever could.
He likes his drink, within reason. Drinking to continually get drunk is pointless to him. He doesn't spend a lot of time in idle chit-chat. He might seem kind of cold to those who don't know him. He can respect a fellow fighter. Getting Auron to be anything resembling social is an exercise in futility. But if you can somehow earn his respect, this is one man you'd always want backing you up. (previous app notes end here)
Auron has the worst survivor's guilt ever, although he mostly does a good job of hiding it. Although he does have a dry, wry humor, he always seems vaguely sad. If Auron existed in the real world, he would be put on so many drugs for depression and the self-torture he seems to put himself through. Yet, he carries his sorrow alone and without complaint, to the point that it has aged him far beyond his 35 to 36 years. He can feel amused and occasionally pleased or even teasing, but it's been far too long since he's felt happy.
Auron also has a soft spot for younger kids and teens who, though they may fail and blunder along life, are sincere and earnest in what they do. He raised Tidus for 10 years without having any previous skills of raising anyone's kids. He feels paternal toward Tidus and probably Yuna as well, but would be reluctant to admit that. He doesn't want to steal anything that isn't rightfully his, in his own mind.
He isn't a man to really allow many people close to him. But on those rare occasions that he does, he loves and loves deeply. When these things are taken away from him, it spills over in violent action. Love is what drove him to try to avenge his friends. Love is what kept him alive past death and to hang on for more than a decade to fix what went wrong.

Character: Charles Foster Ofdensen Fandom: Metalocalypse Character Notes: History: ((Absolutely NOTHING is given in canon about Charles' life before managing Dethklok ... so I've built up a pretty substantial headcanon based on the things we do see of his personal life and his personality, and in keeping with the general tone of the show in regards to family and home lives vs. life in the music industry, and how the two interact. There's a rundown of all of that headcanon here if you're interested, but basically, suffice it to say that managing the band is not just Charles' big break, but his True Calling.))
Several pentuple-platinum albums, thousands of sold-out concerts, and trillions of dollars in official merchandising surround the heavy metal band Dethklok. They are not only the most popular band in the world, but its greatest source of economic prosperity. Dethklok's roadies and other innumerable, vastly varied staff make up a substantial percentage of the world's workforce. If the band fails, the world fails. Unfortunately, its five members are the most socially inept, ignorant, self-absorbed jackoffs in the history of socially inept, ignorant, self-absorbed jackoffs.
Fortunately, their manager is anything but, and has somehow had the know-how, the sense, and the stability to keep every single blood-red plate spinning in the air since day one. Everyone knows Dethklok, but not many know Charles Foster Ofdensen, unless they're in the underside of the industry... and those who do know him will tell you he's one hell of a man. Some say it with awe, some say it with jealousy, some say it with fear... but all say it with respect. It seems like Dethklok have been around forever, even if they've only reigned from their metal throne for the better part of a decade now ... but if Charles has his way, they'll be around as long as they can play music. And he intends to make sure that that ability has a very, very long shelf-life.
Personality: How The Band Sees Charles: Emotionless robot dildo who always tells them what to do and doesn't let them spend any money or do anything cool but occasionally pals around with them so they guess it's okay.
How Charles Presents Himself To The Band: No, really, guys, you need to focus and get some records made so the world doesn't fall into ruin. You would think you'd understand that the world depends on you by now. You would think you'd get how important this -- no. No he does not think a fountain that spews Code Red Mountain Dew is a good idea. He'd really like you to stay on topic here. Boys. Let's go. Come on. Seriously. You're hopeless. Sigh.
How Charles Really Thinks Of The Band: They are the Black Klok. They are the last hope of civilization, foretold throughout the centuries. Their power can save or doom billions. They are everything. They are all. They are to be defended at all costs, by any means necessary, and he is their first line of defense. He is their champion, their protector, their compass, and their rock. If they cannot fail, he MUST not. He must always - always - be there for them when it matters. If the others are the Gears, he is the Mainspring - the piece that stays tightly wound, perfectly aligned and poised to keep it all running smoothly and promptly. And the black Gods help him, he loves them all like his motherfucking family.
Charles Minus The Band: At first glance, it doesn't look like there's much - because for the most part, he truly has devoted his entire life to Dethklok. But there are vestiges of his personal life, even at their citadel at Mordhaus. He makes small talk with record executives, other managers, and professionals in the business. Behind closed doors, he talks the talk and walks the walk like any other schmoozer. He touts golf courses, appreciates fine cigars and brandy, collects lamps, and is .... a self-confessed Huey Lewis fan. Past a point, though, it's hard to tell whether Charles was a perfect fit for Dethklok, or he simply grew into them all. He enjoys subtly trolling the band, quietly taking advantage of their naivete in ways that don't outright harm them. Go ahead, ask him about the time he got them all wound up over an embezzler, only to tell them later that it was ... them. Or the time they pitched the most inefficient, horribly conceived mobile phone model and plan to him while they were all drunk, and he went ahead and had five of them made and connected to a party line, so the band could suffer through their own terrible idea. When the band treats him like dirt, that's the sort of thing he does to take the edge off.
And then, of course, there's the fact that it's quite possible he's just shy of batshit insane. Take the legal end of things: Charles helped orchestrate a VERY stringent copyright policy for Dethklok's songs, to ensure that they hold on to as many royalties as possible. Anyone caught illegally downloading their music or otherwise pirating Dethklok property is caught by strategic task forces, brought to an extensive underground dungeon beneath Mordhaus, and tortured. Horribly. Charles also organizes the defense force that keeps Dethklok safe from rabid fans, government assaults, and most importantly, the shady mechanations of a secret organization known mainly as The Tribunal, and a group of jaded ex-fans called The Revengencers. These defense forces are nothing short of a well-trained army, and Charles kits them out with advanced weaponry and technology that put the world's governments to shame. He wades right into the thick of it with the rest of them without so much as batting an eye or wrinkling his suit. Death, dismemberment, and other horrible disgusting words beginning with D don't even faze him - it's all part of the job description. And never mind that on at least one occasion, he's seen taking a personal hand in the punishment and torture of some of Dethklok's adversaries ... with relish, to boot. Once he's behind the boardroom table, however, that violent side gets tightly locked away, and you'd never know it existed to look at him.
Other:
"That's my bread and butter you're fucking with."
Charles is, to put it bluntly, one badass motherfucker. He's a cutthroat - not just in the business room. He'll literally cut you if you come between him and his band, and he's pretty much invincible. The man was thrown from the top floor of a hospital and landed on his feet like a cat. He's been left for dead - even pronounced as such - and somehow come back in one piece a few months later, with no explanation and not a word about it all. He's an expert swordsman - fencing, in particular - and can hold more than his own in hand-to-hand combat and knife fighting. He's also a crack shot with a gun, though most of the time it seems he prefers to get his hands dirty rather than shoot.
This is headcanon, but a little poking around the series of tubes has shown me it's pretty much fanon, as well: Charles is the voice of Facebones, Dethklok's animated mascot, as seen in videos released for their fanclub and employee instruction seminars. Facebones is pretty much a parody of Mickey Mouse: he speaks in a falsetto and starts out every broadcast with "HEY, FOLKS! IT'S ME! FAAAACEBOOOOONES!" Facebones' videos are generally informational in nature: a tour of Mordhaus, tips for Employee Safety, ways to avoid sexual harassment in the workplace, and so on and so forth. They're Charles' way of poking fun at conventional How-To and Public Service Announcement videos, since he peppers them all with Surprise Disturbing Content and occasionally lapses into muttering swears and insults at the viewers. Expect at least one of these videos to show up in the community at one point.
In a very connected vein: Metalocalypse has an on-again, off-again habit of "bleeping" out characters' swears with distorted guitar riffs. I'm going to be exercising this quirk with Charles from time to time, in accordance with the Rule of Funny.
I'm planning on connecting CFO to the community during the events of 1x04, Dethtroll, so that I get the opportunity to bump him up through the course of all four seasons. This is for a number of reasons: (a) it'll be freaking awesome (2) there's time allowed in case he gets castmates (iii) by the time I'm up to Season 4, maaaaaaybe the end-canon movie will be out. Hurr hurr.
First Person (entry type):[the feed turns on to show Charles polishing off a bottle of water, sitting in his desk chair, a majestic mountain backdrop visible outside the picture window of his office. he's speaking to someone off-screen]
Yeah, that - those look good. I like the piping along the sides, that was a nice touch. Why don't we get the first run out by next week, see how they do. Maybe do a limited edition with ivory in it. Thanks.
[he turns his attention back to his laptop, aaand--] Oh. Hello, again. I was just giving my go-ahead on one of the boys' next merchandising endeavours. I'd tell you what it is, but - then I'd have to kill you. Heh-heh. [the chuckle sounds genuine enough, but he stays completely straight-faced] So. What have you all been up to, mm? Good to keep my finger on the pulse, as it were. Know what's going ...
[a loud crash, offscreen. and a bloodcurdling scream]
... on. Out there. [AHEM] Oh, and uh, let's all cross our fingers that there aren't any viruses on the horizon, shall we? I've got a meeting with Roy at Crystal Mountain Records on Friday afternoon, and I'd hate to show up to that as a ring-tailed lemur or something ridiculous like that. Okay? Great. Keep me posted.
Third Person: It wasn't often, Charles thought, that he got an evening to himself. But after the mess the boys had gotten themselves into, he figured he could let them stew in it for a little while while the Klokateers went through their usual damage control gamut. They were all well-trained for concert fallout such as this - even if the summoning of an ancient lake troll wasn't exactly covered in the PowerPoints. He set the bath in his hotel room to draw, then padded out to the room in his hotel bathrobe and drew back the curtains, contemplating the panorama of Finland stretched out in front of them. It was picturesque, even with the forests at the outskirts of town on fire, and he cracked open the hotel bar to fix himself a drink.
"Just a few hours," he mumbled to himself, pouring a nip bottle into a glass and swirling the amber liquor, watching it cling briefly to the sides. "Kick back, take a moment. Get it all in order."
It was all he needed, now - a few moments here and there, small things, snatches of luxury or normality to balance out the insanity that came with managing five of the most ignorant man-children he's ever known. He hadn't necessarily known since Day One that it was all about the band: but even before he discovered the Church, he had a feeling. Those first scratchy, crappy little demos Nathan recorded in his garage unearthed something he'd buried long ago, and dragged up something else along with it - there was power in the music, power and something deeper. The sort of something that could summon lake trolls.
Fucking lake trolls. God, this was either going to be a PR nightmare or just the sort of boost they'd need between albums. Knocking back the first sip of his drink, Charles moved back in to check on his bath. If he could just have the night to think about it all, plan it out, figure out how to spin it - they'd be golden. Maybe he'd even have a little time to watch the crappy hotel cable before he crashed for the night.
That was, of course, when the riots started downtown, and some panicked Finn ran into a telephone pole, plunging his plush hotel suite into darkness.
"... Well, ****."

Character: Eater Fandom: Blaze Union Character Notes: History: History: Eater's history is vague. They claim to be Eater the Minstrel, traveling the world in search of strong men to write songs about. She's certainly not faking the appetite for strong men to drool over, but her true objectives lie in mystery. How long have they been wandering? How old are they really? Where exactly have they been? Where is she planning to go besides inside some handsome guy's pants?
Things that are facts: they're a fallen angel of some kind. They have indeed been wandering the world for a while and hear tales of bold and brave men. They also have a split personality that turns from a woman during the day into a man during the night. Is this natural? If not, how do you get a split personality like that? None of this makes any sense.
During the game, she joins up with the main characters' army after the girls rescue her from some men she was pissing off by telling them that they smelled. Also they mentioned that there were strong men in their army and she was hooked. And then night fell, they learned of her split personality, and another weird person was added to the cast of characters. Personality: Eater's personality has a major split between the female side and the male side.
Female Eater is a romantic, or at least attempts to be one. She wanders the world searching for wonderful gentlemen, and when she even hears about them she starts literally drooling. This is apparently her major goal in life. She's also more than a bit of a ditz. Many people would not tell a group of increasingly angry men that they smell bad. Eater would and did, either oblivious to the fact that they were going to attack her for it or just that badly needing to say that they were smelly.
Male Eater is more careless and rough than that. He doesn't care about any fine gentlemen - he just wants a fight, good food, and the basics of fun living. He wears the same pretty clothing female Eater does because she's the one who gets dressed in the morning, so why bother changing? He's a bit rude and impatient, and can make fun of people for being slow or forgetting that he's a guy during fanservice situations.
Notably, he lacks finesse enough to be the only character in the game unable to use skills. He makes up for it by being really friggin' strong. Female Eater uses her harp to cast magic spells. Male Eater beats enemies to death with it. Other: Thanks to DDD's screwing with time, I'm going to just reply with whichever personality I want willy-nilly and assume that it's day or night in his world. Also! Eater canonically shows up in games that are on different worlds entirely (Blaze Union and Gloria Union) - may I take this as worldhop ability in DDD? Additional Links: None
First Person (entry type): I would, if you were to be so kind, that you would speak to me of famous heroes of your worlds. Legendary conquerors or gallant knights, kings and princes of all sorts, noble men of great valor, whoever your heart asks you to regale for me.
Then, if I am so moved by your stories, I may write ballads for them and sing of their glory.
It is even better if you know where I may find them~
[Many hours later, an addendum in different handwriting.]
If you'd like to regale me of famous bars on your worlds? That'd be even better.
Third Person: There was nothing that tied Eater to their world.
To be perfectly honest, 'their' world was Asgard, the realm of the gods and angels, and they had been kicked out of that for reasons that they did not care to dwell on. Ancardia was a beautiful land and Eater had many fond memories of it. Searching for Euforia had been a pleasant excursion. None of these places, however, felt like 'home'.
That was where the community was to come in. There were so many different worlds that even Eater's unquenchable wanderlust might never run out of places to visit! So many famous, dashing gentlemen to meet (for her), so many people to fight and drink with (for him), and above all, so much to hold their interest for a very long time.
And above all else, what Eater had on their hands was time.

Character: Takiko Okuda Fandom:Fushigi Yuugi: Genbu Kaiden Character Notes: History: Takiko was born in the Meiji era, but the last twelve years of her life have been the first twelve years of the Taisho era (taking us up to 1923). Takiko has spent most of her life in Tokyo, primarily in the company of her mother, Yoshie, and governess. Her father, the famous novelist Einosuke Okuda, was frequently absent for one reason or another. When she was quite young (seven or so), Takiko met a student of her father's named Ohsugi (who was studying in University at the time), and almost instantly developed a very strong crush on him. While Ohsugi married about a year after Takiko met him and had a daughter, Takiko's feelings for him remained. While it is implied Takiko has always done well in school, and she has been exposed to a certain amount of "modern" ideas (as shown by her fashion style, which is apparently kind of the Japanese equivalent of being a flapper), she has been largely isolated for much of her life- especially after her mother became ill.
At some point, Yoshie contracted tuberculosis, and over time became increasingly sick. While Einosuke was still MIA on a research trip somewhere in China, Takiko and her mother moved back to her mother's hometown of Morioka. Though Yoshie didn't say it, Takiko understood that that was where her mother wanted to die. Takiko settled into her new school well academically but poorly socially. Her mother's condition worsened. Then, Ohsugi came to see the family and her father returned with a book he was translating from Chinese- "The Universe of the Four Gods."
While her father was locked away in his study working on the book, Takiko's mother died.
In a moment of emotional weakness, Takiko confessed her feelings for Ohsugi, and was naturally rejected. While caring for her mother's body, Takiko began an argument with her father over how he was never there for his family and she knew he had never wanted her. During the argument, Takiko tried to destroy the book her father had only just completed.
It didn't work. She got sucked into the universe of the four gods instead. Where it turned out she was to fill the role of the legendary Priestess of Genbu.
I can summarize the rest of the series that's been translated for you if you want that too, but if accepted I'd be taking Takiko starting from right before her move from Tokyo.
Personality: At first encounter, Takiko is likely to be polite and ingratiating. She's generally inclined to give people the benefit of the doubt, and will almost always try first to get along with others. For all that she's not led a very social life, she genuinely cares about others, and will show interest in their lives. She's not exactly naturally social, but she is community-oriented, placing value on people helping each other and getting along for the benefit of everyone.
She's a compassionate person. She does her best to understand where others are coming from, even sometimes going so far as to allow herself to be endangered for the sake of a chance to better understand and help another. She doesn't like the idea of others getting hurt or suffering, and will do her best to prevent or alleviate that, even if it causes her pain.
But she is in no way a pushover. If someone is consistently insulting to her, she has no problem being insulting right back (though she would never dream of causing someone physical harm for that). She proves to be outspoken when she's around family or good friends, though she tends not to share her opinions unless they've been thought out first. And once she has a decided opinion, she can hold to it for a long time (unless she's given evidence that leads her to revise it)- her dislike for her father is a good example of that. She has a strong sense of justice, and will not hesitate to try and set a wrong she witnesses right, whether that means chasing down a thief or going up against soldiers who are raiding a village. This can make her hotheaded at times, and at other times she'll stubbornly keep going even when it would be wiser to stop.
She's also rather intelligent. She's well-educated for her era and age, and she catches onto things and makes connections pretty quickly. She can maintain a clear head and continue to think through situations even under a lot of pressure, though not under all kinds of pressure.
But a lot of her compassion, and even some of her outspokenness, comes from fundamental insecurities. While it's likely her father never truly deliberately rejected her, she grew up seeing him ignore her in favor of connecting with his male students, which gave her the impression that a) she was unwanted and b) she might have been wanted if she were a boy. It's not unreasonable to assume that some of her dedication in her studies, and particularly her pride in being able to use her naginata skills in real-life situations such as stopping a thief, comes from a desire to prove to someone that she can be as good as a boy, and that she is a worthwhile person. Her feelings of inferiority have worsened with her mother's illness, as she's felt increasingly like her every effort towards one of the few people who wants her is futile. Her compassion often comes from an understanding of how others have felt rejected or useless. It's worth noting that when she comes across situations that are truly foreign to her experience (such as needing to sell yourself so that you and your family can survive), she can be (unintentionally) insensitive to those in the situation unless or until she's brought to understand their point of view.
For all that she has no problem with others sharing their problems with her, and she will in fact go out of her way to help others with their problems, Takiko hates to cause others to worry. She keeps many of her feelings to herself out of the belief that they will only trouble others, and it takes an extreme situation to force Takiko to admit to something she's deliberately hid away. Honestly, she probably has a bit of a martyr complex. (Though when it comes to things like lying about why she's awake/in this area/ect., she's terrible at deceiving people.)
At her core, she is someone who believes, entirely in living with a purpose. In using the life you have to improve the lives of others. In being useful. And she will fight through everything for that belief.
Other: For all that she's the kind of girl who, when faced with monsters after being dumped in a strange world, immediately looks for a weapon, Takiko is very bad at dealing with thunderstorms. (Lightning hit a tree right in front of her when she was a child and she's been terrified since.)
Even though she does seem to know the facts of life, and seems to have picked up some modern/progressive ideas from some people in Tokyo, Takiko is sheltered enough that she doesn't know what exactly prostitutes do (though she knows it's demeaning. and none of this stops her from volunteering to infiltrate a brothel. because Takiko.).
I'd be going with a mixture of the official translation and fan romanizations. For the names which Viz clearly uses the Chinese readings of the characters for (i.e. the names of the countries in the Universe of the Four Gods), I'll be going with Viz (though with the correct tone marks wherever I can figure them out- seriously Viz it's not that hard). For things Viz romanized badly (i.e. Rimudo becoming "Limdo"), I'll be going with the fans.
First Person (entry type): Morioka isn't bad. The landscape is lovely, especially the view of Mt. Iwate. I'd like to climb it, someday. Perhaps I'll do that when this term is over.
I was a little worried about school, but our sensei are very good. The new class structure and books are a little disorienting, but I think I'll get used to it soon. And I've been able to continue to study the naginata!
The rumors have already started to spread as to why mother is rarely seen. Some of them are completely ridiculous, but a few of them are right. The neighbors seem distant. It probably won't be long before the rumors reach school. I only hope Tanabe-sensei and the others don't give them much credit.
Ah- that's not true. I hope that mother improves. I think she would like to see some of the town, if she can.
Third Person: There was a theory that the air near mountains would help slow the progress of the disease, but Takiko had yet to see evidence of that in her mother. She was just getting worse.
It's father's fault too, Takiko thought bitterly, if he were here maybe...maybe she would try harder. Takiko grit her teeth. In spite of everything, her mother never thought of her father without a faint smile. She couldn't understand how a man who would leave his ill wife for another country without a second thought could deserve that sort of devotion.
Angry now, she increased the pace of her walk. She had set out this morning to get to the top of a hill near their house, and she would be damned if she didn't make it to the top before noon. She'd tied her hakama up around her knees. Lower class, some of the girls at school would probably say. What should that matter, if it was useful? And it wasn't as if she meant her behavior to be attractive to suitors, anyway.
She shook her head fiercely. She was just making herself upset with these thoughts, and she wanted to enjoy this day. She turned her face to the wind, stood still and felt its movement, its purpose. Perhaps it could blow everything that wasn't needed away.

For the worldhop request, if you could ask Iddy on the post for such things that'd be great, just for consistency's sake.
