Kyousuke Natsume || Little Busters! [3/3]

First Person (Text):

Alright, so how many of you have had anko? For those who don't know, it's red bean paste. A bit of an aquired taste. However! I myself am very fond of it. Can't get enough of it.

So I bet my roommate, who is behind me as I type this out, that I could eat a whole bowl of this, on top of vanilla ice cream. It will be delicious, I can already taste it from here.

10,000 yen is on the line. I need it for my travel expenses this week, but whoo! I can't turn down an easy challenge like this! I'm ready for this. Though none of the Little Busters know of this yet, I will begin my challenge! Mission Start!

----

So, I've decided to put off my job hunt for another two weeks. I'm going to have to wait before I can withdraw anymore money. Hell, I'm going to have to wait until my stomach feels better before I can even move.

I'm sorry I have let everyone down, but red bean paste, for sure does not go with one thing.

Mission Failed.

Third Person: How long had it been since he had last been here? A visit to the bookstore wasn't exactly something Kyousuke did on a regular basis. Typically, he would go there once every two months, buy as many manga volumes as his budget would allow, and spend the next several weeks reading and rereading them, over and over until he had practically memorized each and every detail on each panel of every page. It was hard of him to grow bored of his favorite stories, and everytime he read them, it felt like a whole new experience, and not just some washed out run-through of old material. Action, comedy, whatever. It was all enjoyable.

But today was different, for today, the latest volume of DragonStar X was just released, and he just had to get his hands on it. A smile beamed on his face, the excitement almost radiating from his body. He paid no attention to the strange looks he was getting as he walked down the street. Today was going to be a good day.

It wasn't too long before he reached the bookstore. His pace increased, the excitement almost too much for him to take. Oh man, I'm almost there. I can't wait! What would happen to Koku and the crew now that Bageta and Nubba were on their way to earth? He just had to know! "Oh! Excuse me." So far in his thoughts and musings, he had almost run into a young girl. She looked around his age, but he could tell she was not from his school, as their uniforms were different. She just smiled before turning around and walking around. She was kinda cute. If he wasn't already so set on something at the moment, he might have spent a little time talking to her. Out of the corner of his eye, he could see the book she was holding in her hand. The latest volume of DragonStar X. Well, at least she had good taste. He smiled back, before turning back to the shelf where he knew he'd find his pri-

It was empty. There was not a single copy left on any of the three shelves dedicated to it. His eyes grew wide. He knew it was one of the more popular series, but it was sold out already? Unbelievable. It wasn't even 2 PM yet. Tch. I knew I should have just skipped the last hour. Great. Now he ws going to have to go back home and wait until a new shipment arri-

Wait. That girl he had just passed. She had the last volume. He turned around. She was slowly making her way to the cashier. His mind began to race, too many thoughts running through his head all too fast. He had to stop her. It was all or nothing. He opened his mouth, and called out to her. A voice just loud enough to reach her, but quiet enough to not draw too much attention.

"Wait!"

She stopped. Time began to resume at a normal pace. She looked back at him with an expression that practically spoke the question on her mind. He cleared his throat. He only had one shot at this. It would have to be convincing.

"That book is haunted."

The expression changed from questioning to downright stupified. It was no longer "what is it?" but now instead "Are you kidding me?". Kyousuke didn't waver. He kept his serious face going, and continued to speak.

"Every 11 years, on this exact day, the spirit of a girl who often spent her time alone in here comes back to haunt the latest released book, in search of a new body. She had lost her own in a tragic parking accident just outside of these very doors, but she's filled with regret. The regret that she would not live to read every book in this store. And so she hunts for a new body, in order to fulfill her own selfish dream. She doesn't care if it's a man or a woman, and that's precisely why I'm warning you. I happen to be her younger brother. She constantly haunts my dreams, warning me of the latest book, the next victim. I had to come here to stop you. Please..." He bowed down to the girl. "I don't want her to follow through with her demented wishes." He couldn't see the girl's face. Did it work? After a few moments of silence, he could see the girl, bowing as well, thanking him for warning her, before she walked back to the shelf, returning the book, and making her way out of the store. He watched her go, and as soon as she was out of sight, his childish smile of glee returned right back to his face. Alright Koku! Here I come!
