Whooooa, fifth post! This time, it has to do with worldhopping.

As some of you may know, some characters can create objects that aid other characters who can't worldhop, to worldhop. This is entirely fine, but the mods have requested that you run it by a moderator before you do so. We just want to make sure the object makes sense and that there has been thought put into it, so people don't abuse the ability without meaning to. There hasn't been any instances of it yet, so don't worry!

EDIT: YOU DO NOT HAVE TO RUN WORLDHOPPING BY US~ The way you rationalize your character worldhopping is fine. If they use an item that is in their own world, that's fine too!

The issue is your character (if they can) making (or just having) a PHYSICAL ITEM that they can give to a character OUTSIDE THEIR CANON. We want you to run that physical item through us before your character gives it away to someone else (IE: Remember when Genie gave out items to some characters who couldn't worldhop, to let them be able to?) so that it makes sense.

I had a slight feeling this was going to be coming sometime soon! I figured I might as well "plead my case" as it were, so as to. I don't know. I wouldn't say it's to tell people what not to do, because I wasn't aware that I was breaking rules but ANYWAY:

Apollo gave Maes Hughes the ability to worldhop because he argued his case fairly well (he was unable to move through his world the normal way: by train, car, etc. because he is canonically dead) and he empathized with his desire to be able to contact with the Elrics because of his own connection with them.

Furthermore, he got something out of it (a good, old-fashioned burnt sacrifice! \o/) and also was very firm about Hughes not abusing the ability, because should he do so, Apollo will remove it. The world hopping item in question is a pocket watch, which I thought was fitting for the FMA canon and the importance of the watches alchemists are given. It's a sort of "alchemy", in a way, and that watch is what he has to show for it.

Anyway, I guess what I'm trying to say is that I did not just have Apollo give Hughes the power of worldhopping without actually putting thought into it. I didn't realize that I was supposed to bring the topic up with a mod beforehand, I figured it would be alright. So, uh. Yeah, sorry about that.

And, for the record, Apollo is not about to give out the ability to just anybody, especially right now, with his power being so limited as is. I have been playing with the idea that he will give Hyacinthus the power to worldhop once he gains his immortality, but I'll bring that up when the time comes.

S'fine! We're just trying to keep stuff so... they make sense, if that makes sense. If I remember in Jacky's era, buzzers don't exist, so it'd... probably stand out? XD if you want, you can change it to something like a necklace or a ring she can wear that'd be more subtle and era appropriate? If you're fine with it the way it is, though, that's fine!

Nooo, this isnt for world hopping in general, it's if your character gives an item to another who cannot canonly worldhop (as in, before, Genie gave items to characters who couldn't worldhop, so they could).

I feel I should mention that Suzy sort of has access to a number of canonical means of worldhopping, most notably transfer plates. But she'll get in much more serious shit that she's willing to risk if she hands any out, and using them herself is pretty risky.

~Hee, I bet you've had an eye on Mewtwo, then, for all of his ranting about worldhopping.
Uh, at some point or another I'd like for it to become possible for Mewtwo to worldhop. I don't know if you know how the six-Pokemon limit comes into effect in the series (I think it only was really shown in one episode), but the Pokeball essentially teleports to Bill. Also, Pokemon can be instantly transported between PCs.

I had the idea of somehow connecting that with the community and having someone else build a device that could receive and send the Pokemon based on Mewtwo's specifications.

Mewtwo will probably never actually worldhop, though, because there will be no way to get around having to be in a Pokeball to be transferred. ;) I'm kinda a massive dick to every character I play, ever.

You might want to add a note to the rules (if there isn't one! I might have missed it) saying that you have to run worldhopping by the mods. I was actually thinking of asking about it the other day, because of the little note on the bottom of ...uh, whomever Apollo gave the ability to worldhop's post.

For what it's worth, our resident Silver (argent_eyes) uses his Porygon to world-hop, by going through cyberspace. Can a Pokemon use another Pokemon, I wonder... XD

Oh sure! Mewtwo could totally just hypnotize a Porygon into worldhopping him, if he could find one. He's hypocritical like that!
Hm, I guess Silver's method is inspired by that episode in which they take a quick jaunt into the wonderful world of the internet on a Porygon and give Japanese kids seizures.
If Mewtwo ever learns that Silver can worldhop, he will definitely be looking into that!

Huh, rereading the initial post, I guess I misunderstood it! It was directed solely at those who can create world-hop items for others. Oh well! :B

You don't have to run worldhopping by mods; if you read more closely, it's about giving items to other characters that help them worldhop. The way you rationalize worldhopping for your character is fine, we just need to know if your character can give an item to another, to aid them with worldhopping. ♥ omg long day I did not just typo hearts. Out of curiosity, do we have to tell you guys if our character has a canonical way of worldhopping? (IE, in canon Yuan uses his Rheairds to travel between Sylvarant and Tethe'alla, so it makes sense that it could be applied to other worlds besides those two.)

Speaking of which, Giac's computer is steampunk and I had some idea of his obtaining, building or whatever.. a steampunk vortex manipulator.

Now I know this device is from the Doctor Who/Torchwood universe, but DDD is kind of panfandom/crossover-y. If that's too AU/crossover or out of canon, How about any other kind of steampunk time combined travel/teleport device?
