Personality: Jasdero’s personality can be summed up in two words: hee hee! Beyond being an apparently compulsive catchphrase, the exclamation also clearly conveys his simple, generally happy nature. He seems to find amusement in almost everything, and what doesn’t amuse him can still evoke his signature laughter.
If Devit is your typical angsty, teenage punk, Jasdero is your not-so-typical, bubbly airhead. It’s safe to say Jasdero is not the brains of the outfit. He manages to keep up with the conversation sometimes, especially when the subject at hand interests him, but often his attention is seen to wander and he’s susceptible to being distracted by shiny things. He’s also clearly shown to not be very…book smart. When Road asks for help with her homework, Devit fills in 5 as the answer to all of her arithmetic questions; Jasdero then proceeds to write a line of fives across the table and his own face.
Jasdero’s moods and desires seem to be influenced by Devit’s—not surprising, as the pair are in essence almost one being. They share a psychic bond that allows them to talk telepathically to one another, and they sometimes refer to themselves as Jasdevi when they’re not merged. It’s implied that while they are two distinct personalities, each considers the other a part of himself. For Jasdero, this means that he’s happy when Devit is happy, and when Devit is pissed, well, it’s probably for a good reason so he should be pissed too. Sometimes he ends up parroting Devit or making decisions based on what Devit wants, because he trusts Devit implicitly and believes his other half will always lead him down the best—or at least the most fun—path.
Like Devit and the other Noah, Jasdero is also a killer. Executing Exorcists is part of the job description, but he doesn’t do it solely because he’s told. Killing is a game to him. He takes an almost child-like pleasure in rampaging, and as Jasdevi, he and Devit are as ruthless as they come.
Without Devit, Jasdero could be extremely vulnerable in a fight. In canon they’re never shown apart, so we can’t say for sure how much of their strength would remain. It seems reasonable to assume what little physical strength they have would remain intact, but a lot of their fighting prowess is due to their ability to function as a cohesive unit so their attacks might not be as effective. If separated, they’d also lose their chief and most dangerous strengths: their ability to merge into the Noah Jasdevi and their ability to create objects solely by thinking of them in unison.
Other: As a Noah, Jasdero is incredibly powerful. He and Devit have the ability to create matter through thought. As long as they’re both envisioning the exact same thing (a simple task to accomplish with their telepathic link) whatever they envision can come true. So far we’ve only seen this demonstrated in one fight, but there doesn’t seem to be any limit to it beyond the range of their combined imaginations.
This power allows them to wage devastating attacks (the replica of the Millennium Earl that they created seemed almost as strong as the real thing), stay hidden in plain sight, and place people under an illusion of Jasdevi’s own design. Both boys are also physically strong, very quick and agile, and by dint of being a Noah, they seem nearly immortal. When merged with Devit in their Jasdevi form, they also have sentient, prehensile hair.
If Jasdero’s accepted, Idgie and I would also like permission to join DDD under a third journal for use when we’re co-writing the pair as Jasdevi.
