Re: Captain Jack Sparrow || PotC || Reserved 3/4?

Being a pirate, Jack has absolutely no problem doing things and tricking people to serve his own purposes. He'll lie, cheat, and steal. Most of his wild legends may have been made up by himself to boost his own reputation. An example of this is when Gibbs tells William an incorrect story about how Jack escaped the island by strapping together sea turtles. Jack doesn't correct him and instead adds to it by adding that he strapped the turtles together using rope made of hair from his own back.

Going against that pirate nature is his unusually kind nature. He may be self-serving but he's a decent man with great respect to the Pirates Code. He thinks pirates can be "good men" and has been shown to risk himself to save others. He has a benevolent nature which can be noted by his refusal to transport slaves, showing no disrespect towards women, and the many times he's saved members of his crew. When his criminal record is read at the end of the first film, while long and including arson and kidnapping, a majority of the crimes are completely harmless and murder and rape are not mentioned. Jack is a self-described man of his word and often surprises people with his honesty.

On another note he claims to have a very good understanding of the opposite sex. He's not one to commit to a relationship and views marriage as gamble to see "who would fall out of love first." Jack can sweep ladies off their feet though women seem to develop a sour memory of him, upsetting them enough to slap him or anyone mentioning him. He's acted surprised about this but he admits that he 'may have deserved' at least one slap.

Other:
► Jack puts a number of possessions at high value. His 'effects.' These include his faded-black tricorne hat, a flintlock pistol with a single shot, a sword, and his compass. He has them on his person at all times and becomes visibly agitated whenever they're taken or touched. He puts the hat at perhaps the highest value as he specifically mention the hat when telling someone to get his things.
► His compass doesn't point north. It instead points to what the holder wants most.
► That ring Captain Teague gives him in the book is never mentioned again so... I'm just going to say he probably doesn't have it anymore or Teague was bullshitting when he said it made people do things.
► He'll be taken from the start of the first film. :3
