Teresa finally learned that Clare didn't latch onto her because she had no one else, that she followed her to comfort her. And that began their mother/daughter relationship. Clare began to open up, as Teresa contemplated giving her to humans, so she could live a normal life. But in the midst of that, Teresa had to go to another town to slay yoma -- a small town literally guarded by yoma and mountains from bandits. When she killed the yoma, Teresa had left a heart broken Clare to humans. Eventually, Teresa saw the bandits departing into the town, and she turned around to take Clare back.

She came back at the wrong thing: The very bandit she had wounded prior dragging Clare out by the hair. Teresa broke the rule that sealed her fate: she killed all of the bandits and saved Clare. This resulted in Claymores ranked two through five to go after Teresa's head, which would result in another disaster. While Clare and Teresa were in a town, they were found by the four Claymores. Teresa couldn't detect the new appointed number two, Priscilla. This resulted in a huge fight, of course, and Teresa hesitant to kill Priscilla, thinking of Clare.

They leave, but Priscilla goes over her limit. She hunts Teresa down, and pretty much turns into an Awakened -- a monster, basically. She kills two of the Claymores, and one escaped with one arm, going into seclusion for a few years. Clare so upset and traumatized, takes Teresa's head, hunts down members of the Organization and demands that she have Teresa's flesh placed into her. Clare becomes the first volunteer Claymore, with the flesh of another warrior, instead of a yoma. It makes her unique, and thus, where I'm pulling her from, she has just had this transformation and is under training to become a solider.
