Personality: Ranka is the girl next door. She is naturally cheerful and friendly to anybody she meets as seen in her first meeting with Alto. Running into a wet, shirtless man that you first mistake for a woman could be the most awkward situation ever, but Ranka mangaes to pull them both through. When she, Sheryl, and Alto are trapped in the emergency shelter, she (accidentally) breaks the ice and gets them all to talk like old friends by the end of it all. She's the kind of person that you'd feel comfortable with talking about all your problems even though you just met.
She might be outwardly upbeat, but Ranka does suffer from some confidence issues. She gets shy in front of large crowds and it'll take a bit of a push to get her to do something major, for example, singing in the mall. She does get over some of the stage fright from when I plan to take her from, but not entirely. Ranka can barely watch herself in a movie later in the series. It's much too embarrassing. Her lack of a childhood past she can remember bothers her as well. It's a much quieter issue that she tries not to think about or bring up with others, but as events unfold, her need to know where she comes from fuels a major decision on her part, one that she knows will have her branded as a traitor to all of Macross Frontier. Cute Ranka may be, but shrinking violet? No way.
Other: She's one one-fourth Zentraedi and Word of God has stated that her expressive hair (it visibly droops when she's sad, perks up when she's called by someone else, moves away from her ears when she puts in headphones, etc.) is a rare Zentraedi trait.
