Personality: In the real world, which is really all we see of her, Codex can be described as extremely sporadic and neurotic--her social skills are very limited--she fears real people and the judgment that they bring in regards to gaming. For this reason, whenever she comes face to face with a new person, she doesn’t know how to hold a coherent conversation—she’s always at a loss for words so usually her RL experiences don’t last very long. Though, she’s just a shy person in general and even when it’s online she’s not very good at talking to people.
However, once she knows someone, she can ramble on and on and on trying to get to her point which sometimes seems just out of her reach. So she’s not a very good communicator in general, but she tries really hard and it usually comes off as cute. She definitely wasn’t made to be the guild leader--everyone likes her too much and she tries too hard to be liked.
Her opinion of herself is really low, and most of the time she’ll just let people walk all over her, but there are times when she really stands up for herself or what she believes in and they’re usually character defining moments. A lot of the time when that happens she’ll be in the process of giving up and then in the middle of her default-setting response she’ll change direction and give that person a piece of her mind. She mainly does this to her guildmates because she’s not as afraid of their reactions. Most of the time though, she gets her way because her automatic reaction to things is to have panic attacks and/or start crying hysterically and people generally just want to make her stop. She’s not manipulating them though, that’s just how she expresses her feelings and it makes people want to take care of her because she brings out the parental instincts in people when she gets to that point.
She’s usually extremely kind to people has no idea how to react when someone’s being overly rude, a trait that was most often expressed when she had to cut into the AoA chat room to talk to them about laying off on the ruin-Bladezz’s-life plot. They were all swearing and screaming at each other, and then started insulting her when she spoke up, which made her have even more ‘metasocial anxiety’ than she already had going into it.
Sometimes even with her own guildmates she clams up because they’re being too mean for her to handle, though those instances are getting fewer and fewer as time goes on. Because of her sweet demeanor, she hardly ever insults people herself, at least not to their face, even if they really deserve it, so the few times that she does insult someone who knows her really well, even if it’s only to call them a doo doo head or something equally cute, it really has an effect. When it happened to Vork, he flipped out, said “I must be a horrible person!” and went AWOL for days.
When she talks to her webcam, however--which she does to make sense of her life--she says whatever she feels like without too much regret, though she still holds back on really insulting people full on and tries to stay positive.
Despite all of her issues, she really does want to be in a good relationship with a guy, and she tries really hard to make it work, but it just keeps falling apart. Fawkes is probably the first time in the whole series that she’s found a guy that actually balances out her personality. (He even admitted that their ‘chemistry is undeniable’) Any non-gamer at this point would not be a good match for her—there just wouldn’t be enough between them for the relationship to go anywhere.
Other:
She also likes to read romance novels and comics--gaming isn’t her only hobby.
Codex will receive canon updates as the episodes are uploaded.
