At the high point of the tournament, Le Chiffre leads Bond into thinking he is bluffing and he loses big. Upset, Vesper, refuses to give Bond the money to buy back into the tournament because she said it was a reckless move. Completely angry that he lost to Le Chiffre, Bond prepares to assassinate Le Chiffre upon his defeat, but he is approached by one of the other players, a CIA officer Felix Leiter who is also assigned to Le Chiffre. Leiter thinks that Bond could win the tournament and supplies him enough funds to re-enter the tournament in exchange for allowing the CIA to take in Le Chiffre. Back in the game, Bond wins the tournament with an inside draw to a straight flush. Sadly, they cannot celebrate long as Vesper is abducted by Le Chiffre, who uses her to lure Bond into a near-fatal car chase and caputre.
Taken from Wikipedia, because they say it with such lulz:
Le Chiffre strips Bond naked, ties his hands and feet to a chair, and tortures him for the access code to the game's winnings by whacking his testicles. When it becomes clear that Bond will not yield, Le Chiffre prepares to castrate him. At that moment Mr. White enters and executes Le Chiffre and his associates for their failure. Bond and Vesper are left alive.
When Bond awakens in a hospital, he orders the arrest of Mathis. Le Chiffre had told him that he was a double agent. It's here that Bond admits his love for Vesper, he wants to quit the service before he can't be human again. He quits the service and goes on a vacation with her in Venice. It soon turns sour when he learns that his winnings were never deposited and that in fact she's stolen them. Angry, he chases her to meet the people she was giving the money to. After a long fight, the building collapses and Vesper dies in an elevator shaft and White leaves with the money. He learns that he had been used because Vesper's boyfriend was kidnapped and she was just paying the ransom - on the condition that Bond was let to live. He finds White and shoots him. When asked about the identity of his assailant, Bond says the classic line. The name's Bond. James Bond.

Wonderful. Let no one tell you that accessing any sort of internet port is a waste of time. You should tell me, what do the lot of you do on this site? From what I've seen, ducklings aren't exactly a euphemism for anything.
Though, enough of that, I need this off of my mobile so I can get on and out. ... Suppose you all need to know who you need to provide technical support for: my name is Bond, James Bond.

James Bond was a man on a mission. He was hot on the tail of someone that was connected to the people that had been involved in that incident in Venice. Staring down a small lizard in the middle of a strange rainforest was not what he considered part of the mission. He has spent the entire morning trying to figure out where he was. Irritated that he had gotten nowhere, he had decided to shift his focus on trying to escape.
Though he had yet to meet some of the island's inhabitants, he started to notice the lack of humans around the island. It wouldn't have surprised him that it was an island where he was supposed to die. After all, with vast amounts of money, came the desire to make people die in eccentric ways. Le Chiffre had his chair - and he supposed that the people of this island had a knack for wanting to hunt human. It was part of the job, really.
So he was exaggerating. The new 007 agent didn't like the looks of the island, and his instinct was telling him that this island wasn't meant for humans to be on.
... the heavy breathing behind him was another sure indication that the spy should start running. And, after the initial shock, he did. He sprinted as fast as he could back to safe zone of his bunker, where he decided that for once, it was time for a game plan.
