If you are to visit anything in Vienna, you must see the State Opera. As you may already know, Dominique Meyer is the new head, replacing Ioan Holender. With him comes a major change in what the opera chooses to play. Baroque music was never a part of the opera under Holender - Meyer has chosen to focus on it and modern works, as well as the works of Mozart.

Personally, I'm pleased with the changes. Bach of course comes to mind as leaving a mark on the history of German music, but Telemann and Handel are also incredibly important. As for the modern era, even I cannot deny that works like Berg's Five Songs on Picture Postcard Texts-
