Character Notes:
History: Warning!: Spoilers ahead.

In the year 2XXX A.D., cloning is not only possible, it is common and abundant. Technological advancements in the area, research and facilities all mean that any form of cloning is possible - even creating clones of the long-dead. This is where St. Kleio's Academy comes in; it's a boarding school that houses the clones of significant historical figures, and it educates and raises them to mimic, and even outdo, their originals in every way - for research, to see how their works could benefit society, and just generally for human observation and enjoyment.

Elizabeth Tudor was probably created in a lab facility, where she would have stayed until she was stable and old enough to be sent away, and then she would have been shipped off to St Kleio's to begin her studies. She grew up there and became a close friend of Florence Nightingale, also finding friendship in Marie Curie, Napoleon, Freud and Ikkyu. For the next decade or so she would have grown up surrounded by historical clones and buried in information; she had to memorise everything to do with Queen Elizabeth I, from history and dates to personal knowledge (such as languages spoken by the original) and little tidbits of information.

A year before the series takes place, a boy named Shiro Kamiya joins St. Kleio's, despite not being the clone of a famous historical figure; in fact, he's not a clone at all, and he's only attending the school for convenience's sake, because his father begins working there. Despite this, and despite the spite, jealousy and shun he receives from most of his peers for being so different, he is quickly welcomed by Napoleon and Ikkyu, thus joining their small group and becoming friends with Elizabeth.

The school is not as nurturing and caring as it first sounds, though, it turns out. Marie Curie rejects the idea of being a scientist, instead longing to be a musician, and when Dr. Kamiya, Shiro's father, is told, he apparently sends her off to live with a relative and study music - however, that is the last time anyone ever hears from her. It's heavily implied, though not yet quite confirmed, that she was deemed a "failure" and killed so that they could begin anew with a Marie Curie clone. Elizabeth and her friends are unaware of this, but they are quite worried about the absolute loss in contact, even with Shiro's optimistic reassurances.

Everything starts to go downhill after that. The clone of JFK, a graduate from St. Kleio's, is making a speech for the purposes of propaganda when he is suddenly shot in the head - naturally, the younger clones are frightened more than anyone, plagued with the fear of their lives playing out just the same as their originals, just as it appeared to happen with the JFK clone. While many think it is destiny, as Freud finds out, there is another reason - there is a group trying to assassinate all of the clones at St. Kleio's Academy.

A strange cult makes an appearance - those praying to the "Almighty Dolly", named after the sheep that was the first successfully cloned mammal. They hope that her luck and success will stop them from also playing into fate's hands, and that they will be able to sever their ties with history. Unbeknownst to the students, and thus far unexplained as to why, the Almighty Dolly keychains are bugged, and one ends up in Elizabeth's hands as part of a plan of some sort. She doesn't attend the cult meetings or anything, but she accepts the doll in the hopes that it will keep her from her fate - becoming an old maid who is doomed to die alone.

Bad things keep happening. Mozart tries to hang himself, claiming that there is no point in being himself and that "Mozart is dead". Joan of Arc becomes increasingly more terrified about her fate, considering that her original died at an age she is fast approaching. Throughout all of this, most of the students, including Elizabeth, are fretting over an upcoming expo; the school expo is where all the students perform to show off what they have learnt and the accomplishments they have made so far, and it also doubles as what is pretty much an exam. They have to prove that they are progressing towards the height of their originals. Elizabeth, presumably happy with her studies, spends most of her preparation time making an extravagant dress.

Things just keep going downhill. The school's most hated person, Director Rockswell, shows up (and Elizabeth spends a lot of time understandably off-screen; the instant she sees Rockswell and he comments on her dress, she flees the room and doesn't return). A little girl called Pandora shows up, who looks incredibly similar to Marie Curie. Joan of Arc is going to be burned at the stake for a performance during the expo, which puts everyone on edge. Elizabeth may not be a central feature to a lot of this, but she's around throughout it, generally being concerned and very out-of-the-loop.

Everyone seems to be looking forward to and enjoying the expo, despite the sudden and mysterious disappearances of Shiro, Pandora and Mozart, who have been locked up by Dr. Kamiya. Elizabeth and the others all hang around and chat excitedly and make fun of each other, and soon enough they all move into the auditorium to listen to opening speeches, excited but a little on-edge, mainly because of the stunt involving Joan that is approaching. During Rasputin's speech, however, the group looking to assassinate the clones suddenly strikes again; they set off an explosion, bringing down the ceiling of the auditorium and sending everyone running screaming. Elizabeth manages to find her way safely outside, although she's in hysterics and sobbing because she loses sight of Florence and Ikkyu.

And that's as far as I can tell you because not even those bits I told you about just now are translated, I had to put it together from untranslated scans, sob. One day Viz will release the rest in English. o9

Personality:

Elizabeth actually seems to be a very typical teenage girl. She's rather cheery most of the time, she's certainly not afraid of speaking her mind, and she can be pretty loud at times. She's enthusiastic, a little dramatic, energetic, and occasionally she's boisterous and kind of overzealous. She often flits between being immature and rowdy, and mature and thoughtful (although, she considers it "mature" that she "doesn't want some high school romance" and she wants to jump straight to something more serious; getting married, that is).

She's certainly not an idiot, though, even if she does have a tendency to overreact (or at least express herself strangely, or too dramatically). It's just that she keeps the full extent of her thoughts to herself if she thinks it's going to hurt her friends - she's caring and pretty protective, as is evidenced by the fact that she snaps at Ikkyu just for calling Florence Nightingale a worrywart. She becomes reasonably concerned about both matters that don't quite involve her and her friends - she doesn't overdo it like Florence, but she isn't a drywall like Freud. Still, her friends are obviously important to her, and she cherishes them.

She's also pretty modest, or at least easily embarrassed - while her furious and and extremely embarrassed reaction to Freud and Shiro seeing her naked was more normal, she gets strangely flustered about walking in on Shiro and Joan sharing what she seems to think is a "romantic moment", and can barely bring herself to interrupt, having to throw herself forwards into the situation just to manage speaking to them. (But, then again, she has no problem with stripping down around the other girls, or taking a bath with Florence.) She gets riled up rather quickly and easily, and often lashes out violently when it happens - when Freud plays along with Empress Dowager's prostituting herself, Elizabeth hits him over the head with a steel folding chair and shrieks at him.

Unlike a lot of the other clones, Elizabeth isn't overly resentful of the school or of her original, and she doesn't seem to hate what she has to do - but she does mention that she's envious of Marie Curie, who got to follow her dreams and do something different, who got to follow her own path (or, at least, as far as they know). She doesn't have a completely different goal, like Marie wanting to be a musician instead of a scientist - in fact, she only expresses two problems she has with being Elizabeth. The first is that she's not sure what she's expected to do, even if she does become the perfect replica; she can't really be Queen, and she doesn't have subjects to rule over, so she can't implement knowledge or strategies or anything she knows about ruling. The second is that she... wants to get married.

A last notable trait of Elizabeth is that she also fears following the "fate" of her original, but it's not to the extreme of, say, Joan of Arc. She's just very, very adamant about her dreams, which involve getting married to a handsome man, owning a nice house and a white puppy and having two children. She's scared of growing up to be an old maid who dies cold and alone like the original. She's obsessed with her original's love life and how it could impact her current life.

First Person (entry type): Oh, jeez, this isn't what I thought it was, and now I can't navigate away... I'm supposed to be researching, not playing around on a blog site! I hope this isn't a virus or anything, because this is a library computer.

And Hitler wants to use it after me, so I have to fix it right now! I don't want to give him a computer that's messing up his reaction might be scary... Why isn't Freud here, he's so much better with technology... That guy owes me computer lessons. It's embarrassing to have to ask him for help all the time!

Well, congratulations, bloggers, you're connected to St. Kleio's Academy. Yeah, that St. Kleio's Academy. There's not really a point in hiding who I am, so hey, I'm Elizabeth Tudor.

Now can somebody help me get this off my computer? If Einstein looks over and sees me on some random website, he'll probably make fun of me!

Third Person:

The first time she drinks tea, Elizabeth hates it. It's bitter and it leaves an awful taste in her mouth - she wants something sweet and pleasant. She pouts and whines and begs for juice, or cordial or something else, anything else; they say that it's even better that she doesn't like it, because it will help her become a strong and dignified woman like her original, having to put up with something she hates and not complaining about it.

By the time she's sixteen, she still doesn't like it, but she barely tastes it anymore, and she sits with her friends and sips it and eats cake. They're familiar things, now. The clack of the balls on the pool table, the boys yelling at each other, Marie and Florence having a friendly chat at her side. She likes it all enough that tea doesn't matter, and she drinks it mechanically, giggling and talking excitedly with the other girls.

"--I told you, Freud, I don't think about Hitler that way! We're friends! That's just weird!"

"And anyway, why would he think about Hitler when we've got a girl like Empress Dowager?"

Elizabeth looks over at the boys gathered around the pool table, feeling a need to cut in, and she chokes on her tea when she catches sight of Ikkyu making suggestive shapes with his hands. Florence immediately begins fretting while Elizabeth keeps her head low, swallowing coughs and hiding her flushed face.

Napoleon hums thoughtfully, oblivious to Elizabeth's reaction. "I dunno, would you really want Empress Dowager? There are plenty of other nice girls hanging around in the Academy, why her?"

"Like Joan?" Ikkyu dodges the swing Napoleon takes at him with his pool cue, grinning. "And what do you mean, why her? She's got massive--"

"Y-you perverts!" snaps Elizabeth, jumping up from her seat; Florence and Marie dive to catch the plate that slides off her lap, and even manage to save the cake and fork from falling to the floor. "What are you saying?! You shouldn't talk about that kind of stuff in front of girls-- or at all--!" She snatches up two pillows off the lounge and throws them as hard as she can at Ikkyu and Napoleon - she hits them both in the head, sending Napoleon back into the pool table. She then rounds on Freud, who still looks perfectly calm and unimpressed. "And Freud! Don't go saying creepy things like that about Shiro!" She hurls one of his books at him and it strikes him square in the forehead.

Shiro is the only one that stands uninjured by the end of her tirade, looking at his fallen comrades awkwardly.

Elizabeth sits back down in a huff, grabs her tea and downs it all in one go, still fuming.

She doesn't taste a single drop.
