Serena and Nate were both very drunk together and ended up sleeping together. With their virginity lost to one another, things, Serena realized were never going to be the same. Serena decided she couldn't take it and decided to leave New York and head to a boarding school in Connecticut. It was there that Serena met Georgina Sparks, a mysterious and not so good character and Serena became instant best friends with. Georgina influenced Serena's life, turning into a whirlwind of lies and constant inebriation. The life she was leading was not one Serena had ever imagined herself leading and she began to change dramatically, something she was not happy with. One fateful night, Georgina and Serena were doing coke with a male they had recently met, and Serena really didn't want to do it, so instead, she passed it to the man they had just met.

Serena then noticed that the man had taken a turn for the worse, going into some sort of really bad seizure, Serena called 911, and then fled the scene. Serena left the boarding school short thereafter without much of a word and returned, a year or so later, to lovely Manhattan. Serena expected to be treated with much admiration and much love and excitement for her return. Instead she gets an insanely guilty Nate and one way pissed off Blair Waldorf. Nate feels so bad that he decides to tell Blair what happened the night Serena and him slept together, and Blair freaked out, of course. Wanting nothing at all to do with Serena and trying to knock the blond off of her pedestal of being New York's It girl. Nate, who felt more strongly for Serena than for Blair, tried to get with her, but Serena turned him down and instead moved onto Dan Humphrey.

This wasn't exactly a fairytale relationship from the very start. Dan resent and disliked the upscale lifestyle that Serena lived in and he figured and wanted for Serena to see the same. On top of that, Serena's godmother was so strongly opposed to Dan, though a lot of that had to do with her being a Van Der Woodsen and him being a Humphrey, and the two family names had much history that intertwined even recently, cue in Lily Van Der Woodsen and Rufus Humphrey. The two were once in love, and even to this day, still are. The biggest problem comes when Rufus comes to find that Lily was pregnant with his child when she was nineteen. Serena and Dan found this out and become sort of iffy with each other. They decide to try and break it off but only realize that this actually could make them even stronger a couple than what they had been before.

From there, a rather intelligent and absolutely stunning English Teacher, Ms. Carr moves to Constance Billiard, and at first nothing seems really a miss. She developed a close friendship with Dan, but soon, Serena begins to see that Ms. Carr has really taken a fondness to Dan. Well, cue in Miss Queen 'B'. She sees this 'friendship' and deciding to get back at Ms. Carr for giving her a low grade decides to spread a nasty rumor about seeing Dan and Ms. Carr together. Serena believes the rumor and is furious. The two break up and what do you know, Dan moves on to Ms. Carr. Though, the affair only lasts a few weeks and Dan realizes he wants Serena back. Though, Serena would never admit it to herself, she too wanted Dan back. This off and on relationship that is filled with drama and much head spinning lasted for a dizzying year and a half.

But, now off again, Serena feels she is ready to move on, and move on taking in the form of her former fling, Nathaniel Archibald. With a brand new stepbrother, Mister Chuck Bass, and one dead stepfather, Serena is going to have to deal with senior year with the most class and respect for herself she could muster. But hey, it's New York, and she is Serena Van Der Woodsen. If anyone could make their life the most interesting, its her, and Serena is going to do whatever it takes to make sure she has everything and anything she could ever possibly want or need.

To say Serena went out with a bang is a little lack luster. Sure, she graduated, and had a whole lot of drama to go with it, but now what? Now that it's over and Gossip Girl's sick last consensus didn't say much for the once wondrous Serena Van Der Woodsen. Irrelevant? Serena? No way. Not on her watch. Serena is going to make absolute certain that no one will forget her name, now or ever. Even as she heads to NYU along with Blair, Serena still has to prove that she belongs in Gossip Girl's spotlight.

Personality:

When you think of Serena Van Der Woodsen, what do you think? Sweet? Cute? Innocent? Sure you do. That's her greatest facade and she does it well. Being innocent is her costume, and she certainly wears it well; more than that. She knows she wears it well. Serena is rather vain. Simply put. Though, people usually only catch glimpses of her vanity, but it is there. No doubt about it. Serena loves the spotlight, and she has a habit of knowing how to stay in it. Though, she normally lets her friend, Blair Waldorf think shes the Queen Bee, but to Serena, she IS New York's It Girl, without a doubt.

Aside from Serena absolutely loving the attention, she also has a very addictive personality. Her addictions are not always the good kind either, preferring drinking and boys to say, homework and playing the good kid role. Though, if she did that. there wouldn't be too much interesting things for people to write about her, would there? Serena is intelligent, though she doesn't really apply herself. Preferring to so not play the smart genius girl at all. Serena is the type of person everyone wants to get to know and be friends with, so you could almost say besides her having an addictive personality, she herself, is addictive.

Serena is also not one to really be tied down. She is afraid of commitment, and with Dan being the only really long relationship she's had, its hard for her to change her ways, though she is trying with Nathaniel. Usually, whenever a boy begins to speak about commitment or anything long term, Serena freaks and immediately wants out. Structure is not a big thing in her life, and she doesn't like it. Though, Serena does love the high class life she leads. She believes right now that money and attention is the key to essential and real happiness.

Serena may be a slight childish when it comes to things she wants. If Serena doesn't get what she wants immediately, she will whine and be rather dramatic until she gets something bigger and even better than the thing she wanted in the first place. No one can deny that Serena is her own individual though. Preferring to create her own fads and trends but ditching them the moment they become to mainstream and everyone starts doing it. Serena believes it is the key to her grabbing the attention, after all, being unique and original can only draw more attention to yourself in fabulous high scale New York.

Serena is most certainly a dreamer; and a real one at that. She can be extremely driven when she wants to be and she usually tries to make sure she gets what she wants, though not anywhere near the extremity that Blair Waldorf goes through. Serena wants to have what she wants the fair way. To work for it, which is a bit out of the ordinary for a normal rich girl, but she has a lot more confidence in her work to be able to use it to win. Even when it could potentially be against her alleged best friend in the entire world, Blair Waldorf.

She is also rather competitive and hardheaded. Serena has a habit of trying to love life at any cost. Serena is actually a hard working individual and she doesn't let anyone else tell her otherwise. Serena knows what she wants and she won't stand for anyone telling her she can't have it. Not anymore. For a long while Serena was used to being told not to have something or unable to get something the way she wanted it because it was either exactly what Blair wanted or somehow her 'best friend' would turn it around and end up wanting it anyhow. Well, Serena has grown up from that and now she doesn't care who wants something, so long as she wants it first.

Serena has a habit of being rather fiesty. She isn't afraid of a fight if the time calls for it. Serena has been in quite a few fights before in her life, and though confrontation isn't exactly high on her list, she isn't afraid to fight for her reputation or anything else that's on the line. Serena believes in fairness and it's probably one thing she would fight tooth and nail for. Something, once again, her friend Blair doesn't exactly take too lightly, and yet another thing that Serena can't really seem to stand about Blair. For a long time Serena had a habit of giving Blair the things she wanted just like everyone else in that girls life; but not any longer. If Blair wants something, Serena is certainly not going down without a fight.

"B!, that's not even fair!" Even the words tasted sour in my mouth as I recited them back. So what if Blair got this one thing? Why should I care so much. I knew why I cared. I wanted it all. Here I am a grown adult and I still envied my best friend. What did that say about me? It made me petty and that doesn't sit well with me. Blair and I have always shared everything so what if she's gotten this one thing from me. I can be an adult, I can be happy for my best friend, right?

I thought it'd be easier than this. Easier than sitting alone in my room and wondering why the hell Blair hasn't called me back. The bitchiness I felt from the woman was a little more than I could take. If she was so mad at me why couldn't she just tell me. So what, I had thrown a slight fit when Blair had applied to the same college as me, and she just happened to get a glowing letter of recommendation that even I could never hope to grab. Still, I felt like she was cheating, like she had to get something as purposeful as a letter to beat me. I wonder if I sound bitter.

Day Three and I still have yet to talk to Blair. I can't bring myself to do it. I spoke with Dan today. His writing is going great. I really hope that he continues on this path. I like seeing him happy. It was the one thing that put the biggest smile onto my face. I think I miss him. I wonder if it's possible for anyone to get a real third chance. Dan seems like he hasn't quite moved on from me either but, with Dan it's hard to tell. All I know is that I may be resurrecting my old crush. Great, just wait until Gossip Girl gets a load of this.

Well, it's finally happened. Blair blew up on me today in public. We had decided to have lunch at Butter. Something I knew I shouldn't have done. I could tell that it was going to get bad and I didn't even care. I told her my feelings and in typical Blair fashion, she disregarded them completely. I get so tired of her, and I know I shouldn't because of course, she is my best friend, she has for so long but...I can't help but feel betrayed and jaded by her all of the time. I wonder if I will forever have to pay for my indiscretion with Nate. It doesn't seem fair.

Chuck is coming over today. Apparently along with being Blair's boyfriend he's decided to take on the role of mediator. I like Chuck, I mean, he's my step brother and everything but his newfound redemption role is really beginning to wear on me. This is getting ridiculous. If Blair wants to bitch and moan at me some more she shouldn't send her boy toy over, I wonder if she knew that by sending Chuck I wouldn't be able to send him away. Touche, B. No one ever said you weren't smart.

Third Person:

Running forth back into her room, Serena flipped back her long golden tendrils. "I'm going to be sooo late." Huffing to herself as she carried a pair of jeans tossing them on the bed, sighing and throwing a hand up at the half dry pair of pants. Huffing out again, she blew her hair from her face and looked around. Now what was she going to wear. Serena figured she would have at least one decent outfit to go out and meet Dan with. As friends of course. Dan had called her up and asked her to meet him in Times Square. Something Serena of course jumped at. Though, she figured if she were to tell Nate where she was going, he wouldn't be very happy, but Serena figured if Nate cared enough about her and trusted her. There wasn't really any harm. At least, that was what she was going to keep thinking. Since the funeral and the reception, things had calmed down for Serena, though not necessarily in a good way. After Chuck's complete drama queen move, everything had been about him lately.

Opening her closet door now, Serena ticked her head to the side, finally extracting a dark blue dress, nodding lightly, figuring it would have to do, Serena finally made to get dressed. If Dan was the same as Serena had remembered him, it wouldn't really matter what she had wore anyway, it would just be the fact that she had bothered to show up and that she was there. Even after their breakup, Serena still felt the need to show Dan that just because your family had a bit of money behind their name didn't mean that they were all stuck up and snobby. In fact, the only two people Serena really knew and saw on a daily basis like that were Chuck and Blair. And even then it was easy to tell that their lives were nothing but drama. Running her fingers quickly through her soft curls, making sure her hair was at least presentable, Serena ran back from her room, going towards the front door, her navy blue gaze catching the clock and groaning. She really was going to be late. Making a light face, she hoped Dan wouldn't feel stood up and leave.

Getting into the cab outside of her house, she smiled lightly at the man as she gave him the directions to her destination. Serena was actually lightly surprised that Dan had called her up. She figured for some reason that he wouldn't want to see her. Or at very least, feel hesitant because she was with Nate now, and it wasn't as if Dan and Nate were the best of friends. Nate was a good guy, and an even better boyfriend, but the rivalry between the two had been there for as long as Serena could really remember, and the blond couldn't help but think it was her fault. Clasping her hands in her lap, she sighed lightly, watching the city scenery pass her by. It was a cold day today, though a lot warmer than it had been, but the weather was erratic, and Serena wouldn't be surprised if it switched in the middle of the day and just began to snow. Serena was exceptionally happy that she didn't have any other plans today. The day could be spent hanging out with an old friend and catching up, talking about things that really mattered besides the next new fashion line or what Chuck Bass was going to do next.

Watching the progression of the cab through the back windows, Serena bit onto her lower lip. Realization finally hit her. She was going to go spend the day with Dan Humphrey. The only guy she ever could say she truly loved and had real deep feelings for. Exhaling deeply, Serena leaned her back up against the cab's leather interior, her hand going through her hair now. So, maybe if she had told Nate she could see why her boyfriend would be a bit upset. Though, Serena was a big girl, nothing was going to happen between them anyway. It couldn't. Serena had Nate now and Dan had.....Dan had his poetry. Was that really enough to keep innate and irrational thoughts out of the blond's head. Serena certainly hoped so. She'd be upset if this visit in anyway hurt Nate; but, on the other hand, if this visit hurt Dan as well, Serena would feel just as bad. Though she probably shouldn't. Dan wasn't hers anymore and he certainly wasn't her business, what right did she have trying to worry over his well being?

Shaking away her thoughts as the cab slid to a stop, she thanked the man quickly, handing him a fifty dollar bill and not waiting for the change as she slipped out of the cab, going up onto the sidewalk as she moved swiftly. Serena knew the exact place into which Dan referred when he had called. Her silver flats making slight noise as she almost speed walked to her destination. The tree coming into view, Serena couldn't help the huge smile that slid on her face as her eyes focused in on the male in front of the tree. Slightly out of place and looking so very uncomfortable, Serena had to laugh lightly, but shaking her head, a smile still wide on her face, she threw a hand up, waving it lightly. "Dan!" Calling out to him to show that she had really shown up, Serena made her way to the male, her face still completely lit up as she made her way to him, stopping only a foot or so away and shaking her head. "I'm sorry I'm late, I was dealing with my mother." Flashing him a warm smile, she brought up a hand to brush her hair from her face before nodding, a slight grimace pulling on her face. "I didn't keep you waiting for too long did I?"
