First Person (entry type): [A formal response work in progress written by Dr. Atsuko Chiba on the progress of the DC Mini in use for psychotherapy.]

The DC Mini is exceeding all initial expectations in its application to psychotherapy. It is difficult to express the results numerically, but in the majority of cases, patients are exhibiting signs of recovery unmatched by traditional therapy methods. Dream theory has been previously explored by many different minds, but with the DC Mini, doctors no longer have to rely on the scattered memories patients recall of their dreams, and can more deeply analyze them, exploring more effectively the causes of individual psychosis.

There is, of course, some danger inherent in the process, as the sharing of dreams, while a fascinating experience, can affect both dreamers very strongly. The therapist, exposed to the subject’s dreams in such a way, can potentially be infected by the dream, so to speak, and possibly begin to experience that dream while fully awake. This is one of several possible side effects that have not been exhibited as of yet. However, we are closely monitoring every patient and doctor involved in the use of DC Minis for signs of adverse affects.

[On a different note… Paprika.]

There’s a popular saying. When people are faced with very important decisions that take some time to consider, they often say, “I’ll go sleep on it.” Isn’t that interesting? It’s hard to do a lot of coherent thinking while you’re sleeping, after all. But a lot of people find that after a good night’s sleep, the decision is made clearer in their minds. Mysterious, isn’t it? But a lot of things happen when you’re asleep, even thought you don’t remember most of them when you wake up. Your mind goes over the things that trouble you, that upset you, that you obsess over, even if you don’t even realize it.

Dreams can tell you a lot of things about yourself. If you’re having trouble with that decision, for instance, often times your dreams tell you what you’re going to decide before your conscious mind even realizes it. But that’s no help if you can’t even remember your dream, right?

Well, that’s where I come in.
