Personality: For the majority of both games, Jin is a highly unstable young man with quite a dual personality. On one end, he is cold and apathetic, feeling little to nothing whether he is excelling at something, or being highly cruel (such as in one of Carl Clover's endings, where Jin tortures the boy by slowly freezing him to death while taunting him). It seems the only time Jin feels true emotion is when Ragna is mentioned, or he is in the presence of his brother, where Jin's personality completely changes and he becomes maniacal, almost childishly so; both joyful at being reunited with Ragna and ecstatic at the prospect of being able to kill him 'again'. However, as revealed in Continuum Shift, it's highly possibly that these psychotic episodes actually come from Yukianesa, as the sword took advantage of Jin's fragile mental state to drive him to become murderous when the need arose.
Jin himself is the product of not receiving the love and attention he desired from his brother (treated as an in-joke in Blazblue's gag segments, where Jin's obsession is lampshaded as incest), causing him to detach himself from the world so as not to feel much of anything, though he can put on a smile, and has some leadership qualities as he was class president. He says himself that life sort of floated by for him, and indeed, it is like he didn't truly 'live' until Ragna came back into his life. That isn't to say that Jin is completely dead on the inside, as (spoilers for Continuum Shift) . But for the most part, he's a jerkass, seeing most people and things as worthless and seeing the world at large as one huge lie.
Other: Considering the nature of the games, as Jin progresses through the canon of Calamity Trigger he will be going through multiple 'endings' courtesy of the time loops, so his personality may shift from apathetic to insane and seem to revert back to apathy. Any character development made during each loop will be reset once the loop begins again with maybe only vague memories of anyone he has met through the community, until he goes through the True Ending of Calamity Trigger, where his development will start to stabilize.
