Alexia Tarabotti | The Parasol Protectorate

[identity profile] suze-querida.livejournal.com 2010-10-24 11:41 pm (UTC)(link)
Personality:
Alexia is above all, a lady of society. Manners and social etiquette are very important to her. She expects to be treated with the proper amount of respect. In return she is very keen to give people the respect that they deserve. However, at the same time she walks on the very edge of propriety. Unlike most women of society Alexia is not afraid to stand out. Her father was both a preternatural and an Italian so from birth she different. Instead of loathing her difference, Alexia embraces it freely. She would much rather read a book than attend a ball or sit around embroidering. While most ladies are expected to be sensible and quiet, Alexia is never afraid to speak her mind. If she feels something is important she’ll say so and argue her point with determination. She is not one to give up her views in order for peace. She enjoys shaking things up.

Alexia is well aware that people of society think her an oddity. It would be rather difficult not to take notice as there are many who are very vocal about it. However, she cares little of their opinions. She’s comfortable in her difference and is proud to show it. While it is natural and expected of young women to find a good match for marriage, Alexia never actively sought out a suitor, which has led her to the life of a spinster. Most people consider her being a spinster was caused by her strong personality and vocal opinions. But Alexia is happily independent and could never be married to a man if it meant giving up what little freedoms she has as a single woman. If she were ever to marry, she would insist upon being an equal in the marriage, not just the wife.

Alexia is also rather daring. She’s not one for staying on the safe side. Her curiosity often leads her to dangerous situations. She finds this very thrilling, but it does tend to get her into trouble. While she is not allowed to be a BUR agent, Alexia often pokes her nose in on cases, much to Lord Maccon’s annoyance. It is a fact that werewolves, vampires and ghosts are accepted in society, but the groups are much divided. Alexia, however does not like to draw such lines of division. One of her closest friends is Lord Akeldama, a very prominent and completely flamboyant vampire. There are very few people that Alexia deeply confides in with all of her secrets. After her father’s death she was left with no one to share her preternatural state with. Her friendship with Lord Akeldama allows her to be honest about all things, including her soullessness. She is very relieved to have someone to let her guard down with. There are very few opportunities for her to do this, and she is grateful for it.
