Life resumed its slow, peaceful pace for the boys, and Donny was quite happy for it, as it gave him more time to focus on his techno-geekery. He was even beginning to think about life outside of ninjitsu and fighting for his life. Except then April had to show up with flea market gifts - never a good idea. That, of course, backfired when the scepter she intended to give to Splinter lit up and seconds later, she was replaced with a man from feudal Japan named Kenshin. Cue time travel to feudal Japan, cue Raph and Donatello admiring April's naked legs. The boys fretted over how they would get back home, as the scepter that existed in that point of time was nowhere to be found. Donatello had the brilliant idea to have the local blacksmith create a perfect replica, only for it to be broken in an argument between Raphael and Michaelangelo. They were soon presented with the correct scepter from Yoshi, a young boy Raph had befriended, only to have it stolen from them. They fought Lord Norinaga, Kenshin's father, and his samurai in order to get it back, barely managing to make it back to their original time.
Donatello was even more eager to resume his quiet life, although the experience of living openly, where the people accepted him as a person and didn't think him some kind of monster, would leave a deep longing in him for something more. When Leonardo departed for South America for some leadership training thing, Donatello took it upon himself to support his family by taking a job as tech support for a computer manufacturer. When Michaelangelo got it into his head that he wanted to be an entertainer at kids' birthday parties, Donatello became his manager of sorts, and was often the one to bear the brunt of Mikey's complaining about the kids he had to take a beating from. Nearly two years passed before Leonardo returned home, just in time for the Stars of Kikan to begin their alignment. Max Winters, founder and CEO of Winters Corp., had opened a portal to another dimension some 3,000 years before, which made him immortal, but turned his generals to stone, all while unleashing thirteen monsters upon the world. He had hired April O'Neil, who had, at some point, decided on a career change and now recovered ancient artifacts for a living, to recover his stone generals. Winters had returned his stone generals to life using technology, and tasked them to work together with the last remnants of the Foot Clan to hunt down the monsters he had unwittingly released millenia ago. The generals soon realized that Winters was planning on returning his mortality, thereby returning them to vulnerable flesh and blood. After capturing Leonardo, they decided to use him in the place of the final monster, which would have worked, had Donatello and the others not come for their brother. The generals were defeated and sucked into the active dimensional portal along with the monsters, and Max Winters was so happy he was mortal again that he dissolved into glitter.
Donatello, now 18, was more than ready to just sit back, relax, and let Leonardo try to whip his brothers into shape while Don focused on not letting his tech support job send him to the looney bin. At least until he discovered a certain community online.
Personality: *Donny is a huge nerd. If it's technological, he's all over it like white on rice. He can easily get so absorbed in whatever he's working on that he entirely forgets there are other people around. *He's pacifistic, and prefers not to fight. But bring the fight to him, and you can bet he's going to kick your ass, though he is more of a defensive fighter than offensive. *He loves his family, really, but sometimes he needs his space, and will lock himself in his room and spend his spare time either building things, studying, browsing 4chan, or playing Team Fortress 2 (he plays as Engineer). *Overall he's a friendly guy, and pretty easygoing for the most part. He can usually make friends pretty easily, despite his lame jokes *When Leo's not around, it usually falls to Donny to keep his brothers in check. It's easy to keep Mikey in check, but Donny still kind of resents Leo for staying in South America so long when Raph's temper was getting more and more out of hand. *He wants a life that doesn't involve fighting or nearly dying or vengeful enemies trying to murder his family. Has this dream in his head of a nice studio apartment, filled to the brim with his own inventions, with the windows thrown open to let in the breeze and the sunlight. Instead, he's resigned himself to the raucous life with his brothers, where they've made their home in the sewer. Still, he tries to keep an optimistic view on things - he reminds himself that he still has a family that, despite all its fault, is a tightknit group who would do anything to protect each other. *Gets along best with Mikey, mostly because Mikey is lighthearted and likes to crack jokes. They usually hang out on the couch, Mikey playing video games and Donny watching, cracking jokes all the while. As such, Donny has quite a bit of knowledge about video games and video game characters, even though a lot of his knowledge is gained secondhand from Mikey. Other: Mun is not as tech savvy as she would like to pretend, but since movieverse TMNT is pretty wonky on how things work, I'm going to feel free to make crap up - technology that really shouldn't exist will somehow, magically work. Why? Because Donny's a friggin' ~genius~ okay? Sometimes, though, his inventions will blow up, or just collapse into a pile of fail.
Also, Donny will be a little bit of a sad panda, though he hides it well. Making new friends will be good for him! Additional Links:TMNT film wiki (http://tmnt.wikia.com/wiki/Films) - Only applicable canon would be TMNT I, II, III, and the 2007 film. Character wiki (http://tmnt.wikia.com/wiki/Donatello) - Though he's movieverse, I will probably be borrowing from other canons in how he acts, as the films don't like to focus on characters that aren't Leo and Raph.
First Person (entry type): [voice] [Annoyed, muttering under his breath.] Mikey's been playing with my computer again, I just know it.
[There's a pause, the distinct taka-taka of fingers over a keyboard, then:]
Drama... drama... duck. Why do I have an account here?
[A pause, and an awkward laugh as he realizes whoever messed with his computer has left the microphone on.]
The mic's on? Oh. Well... Hello. I guess I should introduce myself, huh? My name's Donatello, but you can call me Donny - most people do. I'm 18, and I share a home with three brothers and our father. Since this account is already set up, I may as well use it. After all, it's always nice to have new people to talk to.
[There's a beeping noise, followed by a hissing sound, as though Donatello has flinched at the beeping.]
Well, I'd better get back to work.
[Muttering, mostly to himself, before the feed cuts off:] Tech support, why did I have to go into tech support?
Third Person: The air was cold, crisp, and storm clouds could be seen looming on the horizon. Donatello had clothed himself in an overlarge coat, jeans, boots, and a very warm, if not worn, wool cap. The hood of his coat had been pulled over his head, casting his face in shadow. He hated the cold, but given the current testosterone levels back in the lair, he would rather be outside, no matter how dismal and gray the sky happened to be. He shoved his hands in his coat pockets as he surveyed the city that stretched out before him from his rooftop perch. His breath created little puffs of fog, only to be swept away by the chill breeze.
The city had been relatively quiet the past few months. Though the Foot Clan had been reduced to hired guns, Karai's vague comments about a "familiar foe" had left Donatello and his brothers with a sense of unease. At any moment, the other shoe would drop, and they would be fighting for their lives, yet again.
Donatello sighed as he looked down to his feet and absently tapped his right foot against the floor. Shoes always felt awkward on his feet, as he had gone most of his life walking around barefoot. He had always been curious about how humans acted, ever since he and his brothers had brought home their first television. Splinter had always raised them to understand that they were different from others - special - and that the others wouldn't see them as anything other than monsters. Indeed, most of the people Donny had met had been quick to attack him out of fear and ignorance; there were a scant few who had accepted them as people.
Another sigh, and Donatello turned away from his scenic view. He began his trek back to the fire escape. Still, he thought as he jumped silently, almost effortlessly from fire escape to fire escape, zigzagging between the two apartment buildings, I wouldn't give those people up for the world.
There's a distinct downside to being ectothermal and living in New York City: In the winter, it's positively freezing. I become increasingly lethargic with every decrease in temperature, almost to the point that I'm putting some serious thought into burrowing into my bed and hibernating for the winter. Unfortunately, that wouldn't last more than a day or so, before someone inevitably breaks something, or until Raph and Leo decide they hate each other again.
At least my room keeps nice and toasty at this time, what with all the computers I always keep running. It helps keep my mind focused, which I will need, especially once Christmas has come and gone, since that's the busiest time of year for me - I usually find myself talking hapless grandparents through setting up their new computers.
Maybe I should find a way to get my inventions patented. It's all a matter of finding a trustworthy, intelligent person to act as my proxy. Hmm, I could fabricate an identity from scratch, but I'd still have to find a way around meeting any potential buyers in person... I'll have to think about this some more.
