Character: Agri
Fandom: Tensou Sentai Goseiger
Character Notes:
History: The Gosei Angels, an offshoot branch of humanity, are split into three tribes. Agri’s a member of the Landick Tribe, with Klingonesque tendencies. They’re aggressive, very strong, more inclined to charge in and hit things than to think about a situation -- but that’s not to say that they’re idiots.

Agri and his younger sister Moune were training on Earth to be full Gosei Angels/Goseigers, when Heaven’s Tower, the link to their home, was blown up by bad guys. Agri and Moune had to become GoseiBlack and Yellow respectively, and join together with the other trainee Gosei Angels on Earth (from the Skick/air and Seaick/water Tribes), to fight the bad guys together.

They have powers from Tensou Jutsu, which involves skills and power focused through various cards, inserted into the mouth of a Tensouder, the devices they carry around with them, conveniently in hammerspace until needed (they look like heads). The Goseigers have different card abilities based on their tribe, but some things are common, for example they all have change cards to allow them to henshin into their appropriate colour.

They now live with an astronomer and his son, who was befriended by GoseiRed (Alata), and they help out when they’re not busy defending all life forms on Earth from various threats. Agri has had to learn to get along with the other Goseigers, and to his surprise has found it not as bad as he’d first thought.

Personality: Agri has natural tendencies towards aggression and hardheadedness which come out at times; but he’s also an older brother, a senior in training, and considers himself one of the more mature, responsible members of the Goseigers. So he’s got layers, which is one of the things I like about him! He matures a little during the course of the show, but a large part of it is just that we get to see him in different situations. He doesn’t change drastically between episode 1 and episode 44 (which is where we are now) -- he’s still recognisable.

He’s a good contrast to his sister, Moune. They’re both aggressive, but to begin with in particular, his aggression is tempered more with experience and calm than hers is. They clash at times over her wanting to charge in, and him wanting to do the right thing and stop the bad guys *properly* instead of just using sheer strength.

He begins to understand her better, and vice versa, over the course of the series. They still clash at times, and they’re both still hotheaded, but he doesn’t worry as much about her. He leaves her to make her own decisions, and trusts that she’ll do the right thing.

They compete at times. He considers himself the strongest member of the Goseigers (< - - this is a quote from Wikipedia!) and definitely considers himself better than her, though he acknowledges - even sometimes to her face - that she’s very skilled and strong and is improving. He’s comfortable knowing more than she does, or being faster, or being better at a particular technique, so he’s always thrown off balance when she does something better than he does. Whether this is intentionally bratty on her part or just her genuinely being better. He’s not annoyed or jealous, it’s just unexpected and weird!

He most definitely has aggressive tendencies himself all the way through the series, such as in one episode where coolheaded Hyde (who’s GoseiBlue and from the Seaick Tribe) wants to take his time and try every possible combination to get through a security door, while the others hold off the bad guys. As there are thousands of possible combinations, Agri gets very quickly mad with this and just blasts his way through.

First Person (entry type):
I'm sure I've made it out here before Moune. She's such a child. Loves to sleep in. It was adorable when she was small, but now she’s older she needs to take her training more seriously.

I guess I’m being unfair. She’s doing really well, and is focusing a lot more than she was before we were stranded here. But I'm the leader, I'm her big brother, I'm the responsible one, and it's. . . it's so cold I think my nosehairs just froze. This is ridiculous! What am I doing out here at five a.m.? I should be back inside asleep, just like the others, just like Moune, at least until the sun's up!

I don't mind training in all conditions, in fact I welcome it, but it's a little silly to spend an hour in these conditions when I don't actually have to. I can still get ten or twelve hours in today anyway, and it's not as if I have no experience with the cold. I just, uh, just don't like it very much.

Well, I'm nearly at the track. I should do a few laps anyway, since I'm here already. It'd be good for me, I suppose, and then I can tease Moune when I get back about how lazy she is, letting me beat her like this.

Wait, she's here already?!

Third Person:

Magazine in one hand, Aguri stirred his coffee with the other as he watched Moune and Eri squabbling affectionately over the newspaper. It was actually really nice to see how comfortable they'd become with each other.

He'd been distrustful of the Skicks and the lone Seaick to begin with. They hadn't heard much about how other tribes operated, and he was used to relying on Moune and vice versa, and that was all. But necessity had brought them together, and to his surprise he'd found himself liking the other three. They were different, but not in bad ways. All worthy friends and comrades.

Moune -- ah, Moune had apparently won the battle over the newspaper, and was now absorbed in the crossword. She poked Eri, though. "Eri, help me with 7 across!"

Eri was busy eating her dessert, strawberry parfait. “No, make Agri do it,” she said in between slurping tiny cubes of strawberry off her spoon.

Agri shrugged. “I’m studying, Moune. It’s important. If we’re going to cut at least 0.5 of a second off your sprint times, we need to get the right techniques. We need to go to the beach again.”

“Beach?” Eri said hopefully.

Moune groaned simultaneously, “Onii-chan!”

“The resistance is good for your leg muscles,” Agri explained, sighing. “I’ll practice too. I could improve as well.”

“Definitely! I beat you down to the icecream cart before!”

“You had a head start!”

Agri tsked and reached out for his dessert. But the only dessert on the table was the one Eri was nearly finished with. Except hadn't she already had her dessert? With a dawning sense of dread, Aguri put his running magazine down, and inspected the table. "My dessert?" he asked, resigned.

"Sorry, Aguri!" Eri said indistinctly around a mouthful of cream.

He sighed. She looked so happy, and it was almost nice that she was comfortable enough with him to steal his dessert now too. Not just Alata’s. Almost nice.

“You don’t need it anyway, Onii-chan. It’s not healthy,” Moune told him primly.
