History:
Badou grew up with his brother as his role model and best friend. His parents died before Badou was a teenager, leaving Badou to be raised by his brother. Dave, his brother, was a freelance journalist and chain smoker who often took on risky jobs and investigations. When Badou was roughly a teenager, his brother took on an assignment dealing with what is known as the 'Underground' in canon. This was Dave's last job, as he was murdered by the soldiers of Angelika Einstürzen. One of these soldiers, Richter Berthein, attacked Badou, stabbing him in the right eye and leaving him to die in the Underground.

Badou Nails obviously did not die, becoming what his brother once was, roughly. He's heavily addicted to cigarettes and smoking, or maybe just smoke in general. He earns money by being a private investigator and getting blackmail pictures for the most part. He's been trying to figure out why and understand the circumstances why his brother is murdered, but at the same time has a fear of the Underground understandably. He wears an eyepatch over his eye, mostly working to barely keep himself afloat.

He's met other 'misfits' and has befriended him. He met Mihai and Mimi, who seem to be his saner friends who sometime help him out. He met Heine earlier on in the series, but it's not stated exactly how and when they met. He does admit he was interested in Heine because Heine is from the Underground, but their partnership has evolved more than just personal curiosity. They somehow have become good partners, and have gone on several jobs together. While they're not friends, per se, and they treat each other like crap most of the time, they somehow manage to get things done.

As of recently, Badou was invited by Richter Berthein to find out more information about the circumstances leading to his brother's death. Of course this is a trap, sort of, and Badou ends up getting shot in the stomach. He survives, landing in the hospital. He does get discharged, and he enters into what is becoming the next war between the Above" and the Underground.

Personality:
Badou is held together by booze, band aids, an eye-patch, and lots of cigarettes. Badou is probably one of the unluckiest people ever, so he thinks. It’s kind of amazing he’s still alive (he just doesn’t realize this). Badou has mood swings, major ones. Most of the time he's a pretty chill, laid back type of guy. He enjoys the simple pleasures in life (sex, beer, good food, and smokes). He keeps his baggage to himself and keeps his angst to himself. Why he may seem social, he keeps a distance from people. He sees himself as someone who is messed up and not right, but he doesn't give himself pity or let himself dwell on it. He doesn't like talking about his past, as it is a sore spot for him, too. On the other hand, Badou can be quiet the loud mouth spaz. He can be a coward, as he doesn't care for getting shot at multiple times in painful places.

Did I mention Badou is extremely dependent on cigarettes? He goes absolutely ape-shit without cigarettes. A Badou, one without nicotine/smokes, is a much darker Badou. He turns into a violent killing machine that shows no mercy.

He's a lazy ass in general, part time drama queen. He's just living to get by, which means money for cigarettes, food, and an apartment. Overall, Badou is a pretty cool guy. He’s no saint and knight in shinning armor, and he’s not afraid of letting Heine be his meat shield. He’s more laid back when he’s off the job, repressing his mysterious and traumatic past to himself. Badou also can be said to have mood swings, but he’d probably deny that. If Badou likes you, and you like Badou, he’ll probably be your main guy to get drunk and have fun with without things getting too personal. If you two don’t like each other, you probably won’t be getting the warmest welcome ever.
