[ the feed switches on to a view of Emilia's face almost oppressively close to the screen. she stares intently, then leans back so that it frames her head and shoulders, and pokes the screen a few times as if trying to ascertain whether or not it's working. the view suddenly swings downwards and jostles and shakes as she places her interface book somewhere, then backs up until her whole body is visible. she's inside a well-lit room with the floor cleared; Emilia waves at the screen and smiles ]
Hi, everybody! We just came back from Tiera. Siskier-onee-chan bought like all the scarves the shop had again. [ she giggles ] It looked like the guy at the shop was gonna cry.
And!! [ her face is getting flushed with excitement ] And Luciana-onee-chan said she'd buy me a new dress next time 'cause I've been so good! Luciana-onee-chan is the best. She knows how much I hate it when everybody else is gone for weeks an' weeks, so she keeps doing all these nice things and I'm never lonely anymore. And!! And Danchou-onii-chan said he'll play horsie with me after dinner even though everybody else says I'm too old for that!!
And you know what? New people keep coming back all the time when all the soldiers come back home. Everybody keeps making more and more new friends, so maybe even Onii-sama will show up soon... I hope so. [ some of that energy dissipates, and she leans over until the ends of her ponytails are nearly touching the floor ]
So I hope you're all having an awesome day too, everybody! It'd be sooooooo cool if everybody got to have this much fun all the time.
[ she runs forward again, and a few moments later the feed switches off ]
Third Person: (prompt: lost something and can't find it)
Emilia flopped backwards against the bed. Not even the way the mattress bounced slightly beneath her could cheer her up now.
She'd put it here. She'd definitely left the teddy bear that Garlot had given especially to her on top of the bed, but when she'd gone back into the room it was absolutely nowhere.
This was stupid stupid dumb and she didn't have to go get so worked up over it (she wished she knew some good swears), but--it wasn't like she got presents every day. She hadn't gotten any at all since her mama had died, and... well, a present from Garlot was almost as good as a present from the big brother she'd never met. She had no idea why, but being around him always made her feel at ease.
And she'd been so frustrated and bored and lonely that day, and yet he'd come back all of a sudden and praised her and then handed her the teddy bear like he knew it was just what she needed. Just like how she'd always thought a big brother should be.
...Well, it was supposed to be here and it wasn't and how could she be so stupid dumb as to misplace it anyway, so it was her responsibility to find it before Garlot realized she didn't have it. There was no way she could tell the others, 'cause she'd just be bothering them again when they were busy doing important stuff.
She rolled over.
And anyway, she really was just a stupid baby if this was making her want to cry.
