You left this book lying here expecting me to find it, didn't you? And then you expected me to read through it and accept it as a connection to other worlds! Aaaah, what a nice trick! Just giving me a book with writing in it that is supposed to come from 'people of another world' isn't going to make me accept you! How do I know you weren't the one who wrote this? And the moving pictures... simple! You can't deny the possibility that somehow you managed to incorporate TV screens into the pages! Even if they feel like paper-- and whoa, that would be some... really advanced technology.
A-anyway! You can't crush your opponents with such a novice prank. I almost think Maria could do better! Ihihi...

Third Person: The steady rhythm of the rain pounding against the window echoed throughout the room, but Battler hardly took notice of the noise. His thoughts were drifting far, far away from the present moment, tangled in fleeting memories of the past and event that had occurred on October 5th, 1986. There was only one question teasing at the cells of his brain, and it happened to be one question he didn't have an answer for.
Who did it?
The room he was standing it was the exact same bedroom Eva and Hideyoshi had been murdered in during the events of the strange Rokkenjima serial murder. It seemed like just yesterday he had stumbled across the horrific scene (though who knew how much time had passed since he had been pulled into Purgatorio with Beatrice?) But even if it felt like the crimes had just taken place... there was absolutely no evidence of any wrongdoing present in the room. No blood stains, no misplaced furniture, nothing. It was as if no one had touched the guest bedroom in quite some time, and the emptiness didn't help his search for an answer.
Who did it?
"Damn it!" Battler clenched his fists at his sides as his deep blue gaze frantically searched the room for something, anything that could help him. But while he could observe the bedroom from this strange world, he couldn't touch the room itself. He was trapped in this odd purgatory until he could finally, truly, expose the witch's lies for what they were.
And he would expose those lies. Every inch of him was determined to.
"Witches don't exist!" he cried, tilting his head back to glare at the ceiling, "You hear that Beatriiiice?! I don't care what kind of crap you show me! I'll rip apart your game and reveal you for what you really are? You hear that?!"
With another frustrated cry (with hints of determination poking their way through his tone), the teen lifted his hands to his head and ran his fingers through his hair. In a flash of golden butterflies, he was gone.
Leaving the room as empty as it had been when he arrived.
