Kimura Kouichi | Digimon Frontier [3/?]

It was only when Cherubimon, the ruler of this dark world, caught wind that these children were finding the Spirit’s and foiling his plans that he bothered with Kouichi. See, these children were being led by another ruling power: Ophanimon who, like Cherubimon, were one of the guiding spirits of the Digital World. Only she was uncorrupted, but trapped and she needed the help of these children and their Spirits to save the Digital World.

Cherubimon had his own Spirits, of course, five of them to be exact. He’d already corrupted four Spirits and were having them get in the way of Kouji and the others. The fifth Spirit, however, would not work for him. No Digimon had the strength and heart to wield the Spirit of Darkness. Which was why he chose Kouichi. A heart he could tell was already full of Darkness, that he believed he could take and manipulate to do his bidding. And so he did. Taking the anger, jealousy, and loneliness that was building up in Kouichi and corrupting it wasn’t difficult. Thus, Duskmon was born.

Cherubimon kept Duskmon at his side and fed him lies. In a way he was sort of a “pet” prisoner, as he only was sent to fight when all of Cherubimon’s other Spirits failed to do so. The first thing he had to do was have him attack Kouji although it was unknown to Kouichi that it was Kouji in Digimon form when he was attacking... And it was only because of Ophanimon's interference in telling him to remember his past that he realized he was attacking his own brother and retreated.

Not soon later they would meet in combat and after this battle Kouichi is released from Cherubimon's control and he sort-ofish joins the other children. Sort-of because, while on a train with them, he separates himself from them and tries to figure out why they don't hate him for trying to kill them. This doesn't get to last long because they have another confrontation with Cherubimon.

Cherubimon manages to wipe them all out except for Kouichi, who we later find out isn't nearly ever so hurt as the others because he's not really in the Digital World, and the Digimon tries to get Kouichi to turn him again. He tries to persuade Kouichi that it was always the darkness in his heart that led him and not Cherubimon, but Kouichi stands his ground. In doing so, the corrupted Spirits of Darkness return to their original forms and Kouichi receives his very own digivice. He evolves and goes after Cherubimon only to find out that the Cherubimon there was just an illusion.

Eventually the children get to where Ophanimon is! There they find out the reason they were brought to the Digital World--well at least Kouichi did since the others had been formed before-- but Cherubimon appears and reveals Ophanimon has it all wrong. And so a great battle commences! This basically ends in Ophanimon and Cherubimon both being destroyed and two new enemies appear: the Royal Knights.

See, the Royal Knights worked for this guy Lucemon. Lucemon was the Digimon who, during a war, had came out and stopped it. However, he became power hunger and 10 Warrior Digimon stepped forward and locked him away. These 10 Digimon became the Spirits that the children possess. Now, Lucemon was all nice and locked away during the duration of the season at first because he basically lived at the center of the Digital World. But as part of Cherubimon's plans to take over the Digital World also included destroying it, well, the fact he took so much during their final battle released Lucemon from his prison. The Royal Knights were his two followers and they attacked doing his bidding.
