Many times, Dean and his brother are forced to play a part in order to get the information that they need to finish a job. Dean's confidence often makes him easy to believe. He doesn't always have to look the part in order to convince those around him that he’s an official of some sort. He commands an audience, expects respect, and doesn’t seem surprised when it comes without question. Dean’s confidence in himself, his knowledge, and his abilities often aid him in immense ways, as he’s not bogged down by second guessing his ability to complete a task. Instead, he’s already halfway finished with it, and moving on to the next.

Dean’s experience in Hell marks a change to his personality, especially early after his return to Earth. The torture alone would be enough to change a man, but it was more the fact that Dean gives in to Alistair’s offer- the fact that Dean gives in and tortures souls in order to save himself from the pain- that effects him more strongly. All the strength that Dean believed that he possessed was found to have a breaking point. And more than that, Dean confesses to Sam that it is more disturbing to him that he actually enjoyed inflicting pain on those souls. He became the sort of monster that he had spent his entire life fighting. Realizing that he is so flawed, that he had it within him to sink to such a vile level broke Dean of all of his conceptions of himself. Saddled with an insurmountable amount of guilt, Dean again places a great deal of pressure upon himself to make up for his wrong doings, while at the same time acknowledging that he cannot ever actually do anything to take away what he has done.

Other: Dean is proficient in hand to hand combat, as well as firearms and improvised weapons. He’s also pretty damn smooth with the ladies when he wants to be. His biggest weaknesses are his devotion to his family, as well as an intense fear of flying.

First Person (entry type):

[Dean looks frustrated as he strikes a few keys on Sam’s keyboard with a little more force than is actually necessary.]

Friggin’ thing won’t work. [He turns an annoyed glance to the webcam that he knows is on.] So we’ve got something nasty coming our way and research is a little hard to do when I can’t get anywhere but this damn place. Sammy’s hitting the books and I told him I’d join him once I gave this one last try. [Yeah, Sam told him it was going to be pointless. Dean hasn’t really learned when to not be stubborn.]

So does anyone out there know anything about something called a Rugaru? Cause I gotta tell ya… What I’m hearing? Isn’t pretty. Sam’s got some fire lit under him that we can save this guy from turning into one of these sons of bitches, so I’m exhausting all options- including you guys.

[He shifts and leans on the small, hotel table.] Not really expecting much, but I figured… What the hell? You might surprise me. [He smiles. Don’t you all just want to help his smug ass?]
