Character Notes:
History:

At the age of four, during a housefire, Dean was handed his infant brother and told to run outside as fast as he could. That was the night his mother died. It was also the night his father became a hunter.

He was raised less innocent than most people, knowing that the things that went bump in the night were actually demons, ghosts, and other various supernatural beings. For years, he hunted these things alongside his father; their goal was to take down the thing that had killed his mother. And, over the years, that obsession with revenge developed into hatred for the things that he hunted.

Dean's younger brother Sam left for college when he was old enough, leaving just Dean and his father to hunt for the demon who killed his mother and take down everything else in between. They still hunted together, but sometimes they split up to work separate jobs.

Then, one day, his father went missing. Cue Dean seeking Sam out and asking for his help.

Now teamed up with his younger brother, the two were on a mission to find their father, doing the job together from that point on. During this time, they became like brothers again and formed a very special bond which lead most people to assume the two were romantically involved.

Eventually, they were reunited with their father, who informed them that he was hot on the trail of the thing that had killed their mother. But, not long after that, they were in a car accident which left Dean seriously injured and on his deathbed.

His father, desperate, made a deal with the demon who had killed Sam and Dean's mother. The deal was, in exchange for his own life, Dean would be brought back.

After his father's death, Dean (although insisting he was fine) couldn't bear it---couldn't bear the thought that it was him who was supposed to die. During this time, Dean would put himself in harm's way every chance he got, and it would seem he was constantly hoping to die. Later he revealed that he felt it wasn't natural for him to be alive, saying, "what's dead should stay dead."

Despite this, when Sam died, Dean followed in his father's footsteps, making a deal with a Demon. In return for Sam's life, he would get a year to live. Too close to the end, he admitted he didn't want to die.

After the hell hounds made him their chew toy, Dean arrived in Hell. He spent every day down there being tortured and offered to be taken off the racks, but only if he would take to torturing souls. Eventually, he broke down and accepted the offer.

Then he woke up in a pine box and clawed his way out of the grave. Six months after his death, and he was alive and in perfect condition. All of his scars were gone; the only mark on his body was a hand print burned into his shoulder.

After talking to a family friend, he went and demanded answers from his brother, automatically assuming he had done just what Dean and his father had both done before him and made a deal. Despite his attempts, however, Sam informed Dean that he had not been able to make a deal.

This raised a lot of questions, and Dean went seeking answers. It was revealed that an angel had pulled Dean from Hell. When he asked why, the angel simply stated that God had plans for Dean, and commanded him to do it.

After coming back, Dean claimed to remember nothing from his time downstairs, but later told his brother that he remembered everything. He has reoccurring nightmares and a difficult time getting through each day, which leads to excessive drinking.

Later on, Dean learns that the reason he was brought back from Hell was because he was to be the vessel for Michael, an Archangel, who was supposed to fight against Lucifer in a battle.

Personality: With his cocky attitude and "give 'em hell" mentality, Dean is considered to be somewhat aggressive--he's also been known to act impulsively and without thinking at times. However, he is actually extremely intelligent, and more often than not, his impulsive behavior is usually linked to his family somehow.

Usually, he's in his right mind, but if his brother or anyone else close to him is in danger, it clouds his judgement, causing him to do things he wouldn't normally think of. Without a doubt, it's his weakness.

Dean absolutely loathes the things that he hunts, and will kill them without hesitation or questioning. A part of him finds pleasure in it, and he sees killing these creatures as doing humanity a favor--after all, he is helping people.

He also generally has a very black and white way of seeing the world when it comes to the things he hunts. If it's not natural, it's wrong.

Despite how aggressive he can be while on the field, Dean is very calm and laid-back by nature. Always the first person to crack some kind of joke (often inappropriate, using sexual innuendo of some sort most of the time), he's often mistaken for being foolish. However, this behavior is only used to make light of the current situation, especially so when he's stressed.

More than anything, Dean is concerned with the well-being of those around him. Whether it's family, friends, or just a stranger in passing. If someone's in danger and he becomes aware of it, his knee-jerk reaction is to help; and the lengths he'll go through to help are astounding; he'd give his own life to save someone else's, in certain cases.

After being pulled from Hell, Dean has shown a more paranoid side, and has reoccurring nightmares of what he went through down there. He attempts to cover it up, and refuses to talk about it. But it shows, with his excessive and constant drinking, that there is something wrong.

Dean also seems to have dreams of one day having a family, and shows on more than one occasion that he likes children and would like to have some of his own. He also shows interest in having a "normal apple pie" lifestyle, although he knows he's not cut out for it.

First Person (entry type):

What the hell. I've been refreshing this thing off and on for hours. I was trying to go to bustyasianchicks.com, but it looks like I can't do that. I'm just gonna go out on a limb and assume this has something to do with a trickster.

But ducks, man? Really? That's not even funny. I usually like this guy's style, but this is just pathetic.

Whatever. I'll play along.

Third Person:

Dean stops in his tracks when he sees the glimmer of something out of the corner of his eye. He's never really been one to pick through a garbage can and take trash out of it, but when he realizes what it is that caught his eye, he quickly finishes off the rest of his hamburger before wiping his hands on his jacket and reaching in after it.

What he pulls back out is a wallet. It's a bright, bright pink. Fake leather with a some keys attached. It smells heavily of perfume, which Dean's not really fond of, but he has to smile broadly once he opens it up and sees the ID crammed behind a plastic cover.

She's a blond, and her address it right there. Apparently, she lives right around the corner too.

What Dean would usually do when he finds a wallet, he doesn't do. He doesn't dare take the cash and credit cards, but instead calls Sam.

After waiting a few seconds, he hears his brother's voice on the other end and says, "hey, Sammy. I'm gonna catch you later. I just found this hot chick's wallet."

He can practically hear his brother rolling his eyes, but still adds, "yeah, she's legal, dude." And then a pause. "Uh huh. I bet I'm getting a reward, too. If you know what I mean."

With a quick flick of the wrist, he closes his phone before stuffing it back into his pocket and heading off in the other direction.

I'm afraid the minimum first-person word count is 100 and this is only 68 - you don't need to write an entirely new one, just lengthen it enough to hit the word count - but we'd still like to ask for a second third-person sample, please, with more of a focus on introspection.
