Character: Daryan Crescend Fandom: Ace Attorney: Apollo Justice Character Notes: History: Daryan probably grew up in a normal home, on the seedier side of the town. He attended a public school, hung out with a rough crowd, enjoyed rock music, but still wanted to become a cop or detective. He was probably influenced by a family member that weren't his parents (I like to assume he didn't get along with his mom or dad). He did surprisingly well enough in school, and went on to the police academy to become a detective. During this time, he met a boy named Klavier, and joined him in his band (which only consister of Klavier at the time) called The Gavinners. Daryan objected to the name at first, but got used to it. Not like it mattered. As long as he could play in the band, all was good.
Daryan was first in the Criminal Affairs department, but was eventually switched over to International Affairs. He had never travelled a day in his life. Apparently, he doesn't like flying. Some think that the transfer to International Affairs was the start of the problem. He probably caught wind of a certain illegal substance (a cocoon from the country of Borginia) back then, and had tried to smuggle it in with the help of a certain Borginian musicican. The Interpol was on his ass soon enough, and eventually an agent confronted him one day at a Gavinner's concert, but was shot by Daryan with a .45 magnum, effectively injuring his shoulder. During the first day of the trial, he was in the clear, but during the second trial, everyone kinda went nuts when Lamiroir (a blind singer) pointed fingers at him. Needless to say, Daryan tried to kill her too, but she managed to hide in an extremely dark room... in a very large instrument case. She nearly died of suffocation, but she was fine the next day. He was eventually found guilty, of both the murder, attempted murder and of the smuggling of the illegal cocoon. Klavier was not pleased.
Currently residing in prison, alone, mostly because of his violent tendencies. Not to mention he was also a detective, and doesn't get along with a good handful of the inmates.
Personality:Daryan is a pretty calm and seemingly level-headed guy, but he has low tolerance for idiots or people who annoy him and can easily turn rude and cocky. One mistake, and your relationship with him will go south real quick (unless you're Klavier). He's quick to anger, prone to violence, and gives people strange nicknames. Despite all these horrible sounding personality traits, he's not a jerk without having a good reason to be, and is tolerable most of the time. He also has a passion for rock music. Some people find this especially odd, seeing as rock music symbolizes rebellion and the police symbolizes quite the opposite. But really? Conflicting symbolism? He could really give a flying rat's ass about it. He dislikes a lot of things, and the list is considerably longer than his "likes" list, such as "people touching my guitar" to "people touching my hair"... or just "people" in general. Some of his good qualities are that he's a hard worker and is fairly smart, did well in school, and stayed out of trouble... well, except, you know, latet down the line: Smuggling illegal goods, murdering an Interpol agent, attempting to kill a blind woman, then trying to pin the blame on a fragile, 14 year-old boy. Relatively good guy gone very bad.
Other: - Owned a guitar named "Geeter", but was probably sold off in a police auction or something. He doesn't know. - Hates it when people touch his hair - Doesn't like it when people make fun of his hair, but he handles it surprisingly well - His hair is down most of the time nowadays, since he's in jail. Hair gel isn't easy to come by, you know.
First Person (entry type): They installed computer labs today. That's a freaking riot, seriously. What kind of prison blows their money on computers for scumbags like us, huh? I guess they think it's a good way to "help us deal" with everything and keep us calm, which is bullshit. Why don't they just waste the city's damn money on libraries and education or something, I don't fucking know. At least it'd be going to something useful. Hell, there's no point in computer labs if there's no Internet access. Not like half of us would even use it for anything productive, anyway.
Anyway, I'm not gonna do this whole "therapeutic write out our feelings" shit in this journal crap. I'm gonna write about whatever I want, and definitely not about my fucking feelings. Just gonna deal with this shit how I always do.
Now that I think about it, I'm already writing about my feelings, aren't I? Fuck.
Third Person: Daryan sat in front of the computer, clacking away at the keys. He had been so adamant about not wanting to take part of the digital journal project, but ended up being the most frequent visitor. He suddenly stopped typing, staring at a word -- name, actually -- on the screen: Klavier.
"Damnit, this is gonna suck," he muttered, his fingers going slack against the keyboard. The last thing he wanted to write about was his best friend. At least, he used to be his best friend. He stared at the screen for a few minutes, then started tapping at the keys again.
Daryan stopped typing again, re-reading the last sentence he wrote. He scoffed, slumping back in his seat. The passion he used to have for the job? It was like it never existed. The moment his brain hatched that smuggling plan, no matter how strongly he felt about his job and beliefs, the passion he had for the law didn't matter anymore. Sometimes he doubted that he ever had it to begin with. Maybe he became a detective because it was 'cool', or something. He was pretty naive back in high school, after all.
"I...literally...don't even fucking know anymore," he said with a sigh. After staring at the block of text for a while, he lifted a single finger and pressed the Delete button.

Character: Alexia Tarabotti Fandom:The Parasol Protectorate series by Gail Carriger Character Notes: History: Alexia lives in alternate, steampunk version of Victorian England. In this England, supernatural beings such as werewolves, vampires, and ghosts are common members of society alongside normal human beings. Alexia however, does not fall under any of those categories. While she passes as a normal, human lady of society, she is actually a preternatural. For her, this means that she has no soul. As one of the few soulless people in London society, Alexia can negate the supernatural powers of any other being with a touch. Preternaturals are very rare and most mistrusted by all parties, natural or supernatural. Because of this Alexia has chosen to keep her soulless state a secret, even from her own family. The only people who know are agents of BUR (Bureau of Unnatural Registry.)
Of course Alexia’s lack of a soul is not her only trouble. At the great age of twenty-five, Alexia has been deemed a spinster and very unlikely to marry. She is quite content with this role as she has never found a man who could put up with, let alone admire her eccentricities. She reads racy books left behind by her dead father. She doesn’t like attending balls. She has an unusual taste in decorative parasols and she always loves a good treacle tart. Alexia has never been one for fitting into society.
Most recently she has had quite a few run ins with Lord Maccon, Alpha of the London werewolf pack and BUR agent. Since London society holds little entertainment for Alexia, she has a tendency to poke her nose into BUR affairs even though it is again BUR rules for a preternatural to be an agent. At the point I am taking her from Alexia was just attacked by a rogue vampire. Out of defense she stabbed the vampire with the tip of her parasol, killing him. This brings Lord Maccon into the picture as they investigate the origins of the unregistered vampire.
Personality: Alexia is above all, a lady of society. Manners and social etiquette are very important to her. She expects to be treated with the proper amount of respect. In return she is very keen to give people the respect that they deserve. However, at the same time she walks on the very edge of propriety. Unlike most women of society Alexia is not afraid to stand out. Her father was both a preternatural and an Italian so from birth she different. Instead of loathing her difference, Alexia embraces it freely. She would much rather read a book than attend a ball or sit around embroidering. While most ladies are expected to be sensible and quiet, Alexia is never afraid to speak her mind. If she feels something is important she’ll say so and argue her point with determination. She is not one to give up her views in order for peace. She enjoys shaking things up.
Alexia is well aware that people of society think her an oddity. It would be rather difficult not to take notice as there are many who are very vocal about it. However, she cares little of their opinions. She’s comfortable in her difference and is proud to show it. While it is natural and expected of young women to find a good match for marriage, Alexia never actively sought out a suitor, which has led her to the life of a spinster. Most people consider her being a spinster was caused by her strong personality and vocal opinions. But Alexia is happily independent and could never be married to a man if it meant giving up what little freedoms she has as a single woman. If she were ever to marry, she would insist upon being an equal in the marriage, not just the wife.
Alexia is also rather daring. She’s not one for staying on the safe side. Her curiosity often leads her to dangerous situations. She finds this very thrilling, but it does tend to get her into trouble. While she is not allowed to be a BUR agent, Alexia often pokes her nose in on cases, much to Lord Maccon’s annoyance. It is a fact that werewolves, vampires and ghosts are accepted in society, but the groups are much divided. Alexia, however does not like to draw such lines of division. One of her closest friends is Lord Akeldama, a very prominent and completely flamboyant vampire. There are very few people that Alexia deeply confides in with all of her secrets. After her father’s death she was left with no one to share her preternatural state with. Her friendship with Lord Akeldama allows her to be honest about all things, including her soullessness. She is very relieved to have someone to let her guard down with. There are very few opportunities for her to do this, and she is grateful for it.
Alexia Tarabotti | The Parasol Protectorate | DONE
It seems that a very curious contraption has fallen into my lap today. It seems quite like a typewriter, but instead of a sheet of paper the words I type appear on a window of some sort. It is quite impossible to describe accurately. Mother and the rest of the household have little interest for its mysterious appearance, but I was certain it would pique your interest. I thought perhaps I would test the strange machine by sending you a letter about it. Of course this brings a problem to light. How exactly might I send this letter to you without paper? Am I to send you the entire machine? I imagine that would cost quite a bit to post. I think perhaps it would be easier to send a more traditional letter and then I could invite you over for a visit to inspect this gift I’ve stumbled upon.
Yes, I think that would be the most sensible thing to do.
Third Person:
Alexia was more than a little surprised to find the strange contraption sitting on the writing desk of her bedroom. Sadly, she had not even taken notice of it at first. She had been far too distracted by the excitement that had found her at the ball that night. One could hardly blame her. Being attacked by a vampire and arguing with Lord Maccon would distract anyone from strange machines that appear seemingly out of nowhere.
Of course, when she did finally take notice of the machine it was all that occupied her mind. She took her usual seat in front of the desk and peered in closely at its details. It appeared to be painstakingly crafted of wood and copper. It smelled of oil and varnish. She traced an ungloved hand over the key and looked on in awe as the appeared on the glass screen. Curiously she tapped the screen.
“Now how am I supposed to send a letter like this?”
She continued inspecting the machine and wondered what others would make of it. She was certain her family would take little interest in it. It would be best not to bother informing them of its appearance. Lord Akeldama would be quite a different story, however. She expected that he would be quite interested in hearing about such a marvel. If anyone were to know what its purpose was, Alexia was sure it would be him. Even Professor Lyall was bound to take an interest in the strange machine. For a brief moment she imagined what Lord Maccon would make of it. With a smirk she pictured the Alpha chucking the thing out a window at the first hiccup it presented to him. But then, why bother imaging that. She wanted to know what the machine was, not break it to pieces.
She shook her head and stepped away from the machine. She was far too tired to perform any further examination. Tomorrow would bring a new day of exploration. Alexia was quite looking forward to it.
[BAYONETTA] -RESERVED- | 2/? | i hate how the muses come out of nowhere sob sob sob
Character: Bayonetta Fandom: Bayonetta Character Notes: History: LONG HISTORY IS LONG; I WILL SPARE YOU THE TL;DR AND BULLET HOLE THE IMPORTANT SHIT. SPOILERS FOR THE GAME BEYOND THIS POINT.
☾ OKAY SO basically there are these two witch clans- the Umbra Witches, who rule darkness, and the Lumen Sages, who watch over the light. Both clans worked together and created harmony by holding balance through night and day.
☾ Both sides foresaw over what was known as the Eyes of the World, two gems that pretty much hold amazing powers and when combined, are able to awaken Jubileus, the Creator. The Lumen Sages were given the Right Eye, and the Umbran Witches the Left Eye. It was passed down from generation from generation, never being used for there was no intention to rebirth the entire world and the universe all together.
☾ So everything's honky dorkey for everyone for a long time. No one ever went against the rules, and the clans were happy and humans and witches and sages could live in harmony. Until LOL STAR-CROSSED LOVERS between the Lumen Sages and the Umbran Witches got together between the two clans and had a kid.
☾ Because of this, it cause a breach in the clans and they dissolved into fighting, of which both of them nearly destroyed each other in the process. Who wasn't killed in the fighting was chased and hunted down by the humans through a series of Witch Hunts, dwindling their numbers to a few dozen at most.
☾ Around the same time, angels from Heaven saw this as a time to awaken Jubileus, to create a world of peaceful existence, and wiped out all but two of the witches, who seemed to disappear into thin air. Among those two were the main protagonist and her rival. Said protagonist goes into a long-ass slumber to protect her from being found by the angels. Though this isn't said as to why, one can easily tell it was for a good reason.
☾ SKIP AHEAD 500 YEARS. Bayonetta's awake and has a horrible time of remembering anything other than waking up from sleeping in a coffin at the bottom of the lake, as well as the mentioning vaguely of something called the "Eyes of the World". She kills angels as a job for a man named Enzo, to cure her boredom. In return he goes and finds clues for her about her past.
☾ During one of her ploys to bait angels, she runs into a mysterious woman who pretty much has the same powers as she does in the bullet arts, and knows her. She leaves before giving a name, or who she even is, and she somehow triggers memories within Bayonetta.
☾ Enzo tells her that he's heard some interesting stuff regarding the "Eyes of the World" in a city known as Vigrid, located in France. Bayonetta sets off for that city with haste the next day. While she's on the train towards the town, she hears a voice in her head that speaks at key moments during the game.
"Rise, my child. The time has come to awaken the Eyes of the World. Fear not, for I am always watching over you."
☾ While in Vigrid she runs about doing a ton of fighting, breaking witch walls, kicking major angel ass, and using a lot of Witch Time to solve puzzles and the like and slowly remember everything. Most bosses such as Fortitudo, Temperantia, Sapientia, and Iusticia keep referring to their god after she beats them- saying, "May Jubileus, the Creator, grace you!" As to what or why, they only leave vague reasons before being taken to Hell.
☾ Along the way Bayonetta comes across a man by the name Luka Redgrave, who's been following her all around the world to reveal the truth- that she apparently killed his father when he found her in the lake so long ago, and that the Umbran Witches and Lumen Sages still exist to this day.
☾ The mystery woman keeps appearing during certain points of the game, and Bayonetta remembers her name as Jeanne. Somehow she realizes the two of them are connected, and whenever she beats Jeanne, the other witch says "not yet. She's not ready."
☾ During one point, she runs across a little girl who seems to be on her own, and gets into more trouble than normal. It's only after finding her about to be preyed upon by a group of them that she decides to save her. In doing so, she becomes attached to her, calling her "little one."
☾ Cereza, the young girl, actually ends up following Bayonetta for the rest of the game, calling her "Mommy" and staying to her side. Luka takes care of the girl when Bayonetta takes on the bigger challenges.
☾ Bayonetta is endlessly hounded by angels wherever she goes, and all her travels across the land bring back more memories, as well as powers she forgot she had. This includes turning into a crow and jaguar, calling upon more infernal beasts, teleporting when fighting, and pretty much being more badass.
☾ After running through Paradiso and even flying/piloting a missile towards Isle de Sol, she comes across Jeanne for the final time, besting her in all modes of combat. In doing so she finally recalls all her memories, and how she and Jeanne used to play together as children. It tears her apart to know that they were mainly pitted against each other in order to keep harmony when everything else was falling apart. What's even worse was that when Jeanne was told to prove her ability to become the Left Eye, she was told to choose someone to fight. Instead of picking any of the trained witches in front of her, she chose Bayonetta, and lost. Thus, Bayonetta became the holder for the Left Eye, much to the disgrace of the witch clan.
☾ Jeanne reveals that Bayonetta is also the child of the two lovers from both clans, sworn to secrecy and told to be kept behind a cage for eternity. Her existence is what tore the two clans apart and drove the balance of the world into chaos.
☾ Once Jeanne is beaten and apparently killed by a huge group of incoming missiles, Bayonetta climbs to the top of the Ithavoli tower, where she believes Cereza's run off to, calling after her father. On the upper floors the witch comes across a statue of a goddess holding what looks like the world, but there's no clear reason as to why it's in the middle of the building.
[BAYONETTA] -RESERVED- | 4/5 | oh christ asdfghjkl; why is this so long
☾ At the top she runs into the last Lumen Sage, Father Balder. Or, known better as the entire antagonist of the game. She learns through him that she's his daughter, and he's the one who created the witch hunts to kill off most of the clans. He was also the cause of the news about Vigrid to travel to her in the first place, the battles rearranged like stepping stones to bring back her memories of what happened 500 years ago.
☾ Among all the other news, he had apparently taken the young girl, Cereza, from her time when she was a child. Essentially he went back in time, took the kid and brought her to the future, to make Bayonetta remember her past.
☾ The reasoning behind all this? To awaken her [Cereza/Bayonetta's] abilities as the Left Eye, as he is the Right Eye, and become the Eyes of the World, to awaken Jubileus and destroy everything. In doing so, it would rebirth the entire universe and everything would live in light and harmony, as it was foretold many centuries ago.
☾ Bayonetta, after learning about all this, and hearing that Balder was the reason Luka's father died, tells him she can never call him father, and fights him. After several tries in infernal demons, she finally corners him and finishes him off with her red lipstick, telling him to "don't fuck with a witch." His final words again hint at Jubileus, and he falls.
☾ After the battle, Bayonetta grabs Cereza and returns her home, to her time. Thinking everything is over, she and Luka take a moment to celebrate.
☾ Only that's short-lived as the Left Eye activates, causing Bayonetta extreme pain and crippling her. Luka can only stand and watch as Father Balder stands and takes her to the top of the goddess statue, and sets forth the plan to destroy everything.
☾ But surprise surprise! Jeanne shows up and proves that she's still alive, and more importantly, going after Balder to save Bayonetta and wake her up to get rid of the threat. In doing so she rips her out of her holding pool, waking her up and telling her that she has to essentially save the world.
☾ And of course, Bayonetta responds how she always does- by getting serious and kicking ass. When the goddess statue finally activates, it reveals that it, in fact, is Jubileus, the Creator. It's here to crush everything and start life anew- but standing in its way is one of the Eyes that awoke it.
☾ Once the Creator is battered down, Bayonetta finishes it and sends it packing by having an infernal demon punch the thing straight into the sun. There it gets destroyed, and the remains fall back to Earth with the with in tow. She and Jeanne team up to destroy the last pieces and descend into Earth's atmosphere again.
☾ Two days later Enzo and Rodin [her weapons seller/etc] are seen saying goodbye to her in a coffin in a graveyard. Enzo says he hopes she has a good afterlife, and Rodin tells him that her afterlife is basically going to suck. To which Enzo protests, of course. Luka comes along and says he wishes she wasn't gone, so he could keep chasing her. He leaves two bushes of Rosemary on her coffin, telling her it was to "help on the road ahead." At that point the angels arrive, proving everyone speechless- because after all, why would angels come for a witch?
☾ The nun there reveals herself to be Jeanne, gracefully meeting said incoming angels with kicks to the face, and telling Bayonetta to wake up and get out of the coffin. Surprise surprise, she's alive this whole time, and just baiting the angels out with her death, to keep her end of the deal with the devil. The game ends as Luka closes his eyes, and can finally see her without any magic, just for who she is.
"It has a bit of rosemary in it. In the language of flowers, rosemary equates to remembrance. Suits me now, doesn't it?
Let's dance, boys!"
[BAYONETTA] -RESERVED- | 5/5 | done what is my life
Personality: Bayonetta, to put it simply? Is cocky, courageous, snarky, sexy, a handful of trouble, and downright fun, wrapped into one personality. She's very good at what she does, be it fighting or even just hinting/doing sexual things, and she knows it. There's a great sense of pride in what she can do, but it's not to the point of her being overzealous or blinded by it (though a times it does seem like otherwise.)
Contrary to belief, she keeps a cool head in most situations. Her face is like a mask, and hard to break, unless you threaten the ones she cares for. Then shit gets serious and the emotions show through as clear as day. She's a lot more attached to people than she usually leads on.
Overall she's a witch and a bitch if you don't know her well, but she develops a lot through the course of the game and opens her heart to certain people in particular. Just don't ever expect her to be a sap. The worst she'll be is looking broken from time to time, and that's very rare for her.
Other: Most likely she'll be pre-canon and going through canon in game.
Really, Cheshire, I do adore your tactics~ First with bugging Enzo during a deal, and now placing me here? Though I really fail to see what's so intriguing about it. You follow me from place to place, and now you're trying to follow me on the internet?
I'm afraid you're a bit behind the times, dear- ducks are certainly not something in fashion, even in a place like Vigrid. Do you know it's apparently called the "city of Paradise?" The people there are so focused on certain ideals they've turned it into a massive religion. It's quite ironic.
Well, I'm more than certain you're around here somewhere, it's only a matter of time before you start chasing after me again, isn't it?
Third Person:
The days were shorter here for some reason. The nights- longer than they should have been. It wasn't something she could complain about, nor fancy. Things were the way they were, and Bayonetta had no qualms about it either way. They didn't matter at this point, at least- she had to find out more clues leading to the Eyes of the World. Something told her that it was important to find, and she was going to figure out why.
That, of course, meant she would be followed- in more ways than one. Whether it was through silly journalists or screaming angels, she had found her hands full from the moment she had arrived in Vigrid. But who was she to complain? As long as it was fun, there was nothing wrong with partying along with a little mystery.
Her mind would wander from time to time, however- and question what exactly was happening as more and more pieces came together. Who was Jeanne? Why was she familiar? And why was that little child the witch kept running across so important? It bugged her on more than one occasion, of which she had to disregard the questions and keep moving.
Only one thing was certain. It was here that she would find answers. Whether or not they would be to her liking was something she would have to face when the time came.

Character: Rachel Fandom: Baccano! Character Notes:
History:
As the daughter of a railroad engineer, Rachel has a natural affinity for trains. Because of an incident when she was a child, however, her love is at war with deep-seated resentment towards the railroad industry, which wrongfully blamed her father for a horrific accident and eventually drove him to ruin. Rachel never pays for a ticket because of this, as her way of sticking it to the railroad companies, and instead, she rides the rails as a stowaway. By the time she boards the Flying Pussyfoot in 1931, her feelings haven't changed.
Rachel works as a freelancer for the Daily Days, a firm in the business of buying and selling information while working under the guise of a newspaper. On her way to the headquarters in New York, she hitches a ride on the Flying Pussyfoot and finds herself in the midst of a gang war. Three different factions (the Russo family; a group of bootleggers from Chicago; and the Lemures, a group of train robbers loyal to Huey Laforet) butt heads in the dining car over who gets to take the train hostage. During the commotion, Rachel manages to sneak through a window and takes refuge beneath the train cars. There, she witnesses the Rail Tracer, a legendary monster who kills train passengers), murdering some of the terrorists and a young boy. She's soon spotted by the monster, who crawls beside her under the train cars and whispers in her ear, prompting her to scramble away in terror.
Later, she takes on a more active role and ends up rescuing a few hostages (notably Natalie and Mary Beriam, the wife and daughter of Senator Manfred Beriam respectively), even breaking her leg in the process after kicking in a window.
When the events aboard the Flying Pussyfoot come to an end (with the majority of the passengers making him home safely, thankfully), Rachel finally reports to the Daily Days headquarters and informs the president of what happened, stating her belief that the Rail Tracer is a conductor based on what he whispered to her ("Ticket, please"). The president then reveals that the Rail Tracer is actually the conductor Claire Stanfield, the Gandor family's best assassin, also known as Vino, who's said to kill with his own sense of justice. Rachel is bewildered at that, recalling how Claire murdered the young boy on the train. In response, the president sends her out into the city, where she runs into Czeslaw and Ennis, the former of whom happens to be said young boy.
Rachel is obviously confused, but Czeslaw explains that he's an Immortal, unable to be killed no matter what damage is done to him. Their conversation is interrupted by Claire, however, at which point Czes flees in terror. Bemused by the boy's behavior but only for a moment, Claire tells Rachel that he came to talk to her. The two of them go to lunch, where Claire proceeds to ask Rachel for love advice.
During the last episode of the anime, it's shown that Senator Beriam had given Rachel a rather large sum of money as payment for rescuing his wife and daughter, although he practically threw it at her in a most disrespectful way. Offended, Rachel tried to return the money, but when she saw Mary Beriam smiling and waving at her, she didn't have the heart to confront the senator about it. Instead, she proceeded to use the whole amount to buy as many train tickets as possible, which she then threw away, obviously satisfied at paying her debt to the railroad industry.
Rachel is a strong, young woman. She's quiet but not shy, staying silent in an effort to be aware of everything around her. It serves her well, as she often goes unnoticed in a crowd, able to slip away, undetected. She's fairly neutral when it comes most things, although that could be because it's her job not to become directly involved. During the incident aboard the Flying Pussyfoot, however, she goes against what's expected of her and actively rescues people, claiming that she doesn't want to see anymore bloodshed.
She tells Claire that she's not a normal girl but doesn't go into detail. One look at her and you'd see she's not what one would expect a young woman from the early 1930s to be, though. She covers herself nearly from head to toe in a long sleeved shirt, pants, and gloves, and hides her blond hair up in a bandana. She may even be able to pass as a boy at first glance. She could also have been referring to her personality with that comment, as she doesn't go out of her way to be particularly friendly or social.
Other: While arguably the most normal character in the series, she still manages to kick a lot of ass!
Every time I think things have settled down, life throws another curve ball. Apparently, there's a community out there, some sort of... nexus that connects several different worlds. Just thinking about it makes me doubt my own sanity, but unless it's an elaborate hoax (how that would even be accomplished, I don't know) or I truly am going crazy (a distinct possibility these days), I can't deny the evidence. Responses from other people show up in my journal, addressing me directly, and I'm sure I didn't write them.
This is something that the paper will want to know about, but how to bring it up... For all I know, the president might already be aware. It certainly wouldn't surprise me.
I think I'll keep an eye on things for now. Who knows? Maybe I'll wake up tomorrow, and this will all have been a dream.
Third Person:
A young woman entered the bar, stopping just inside the entrance to survey the area before heading towards the back. She looked boyish, her blond hair hidden beneath a dark green bandana, and nearly every inch of her body hidden by dark clothes, almost as if she were trying to remain inconspicuous among the many men who populated the bar. Without a word, she took a seat at a high-backed booth in the back and looked around, perhaps waiting for someone or something.
She remained quiet for the next several minutes, except while ordering a glass of water and a bowl of peanuts from the waitress. When it seemed as if nothing would come of her patronage, the slight movement she made as the door to the bar opened may have been apparent to anyone watching closely.
In walked three men in suits. They didn't acknowledge her, but her eyes lingered on them while they made their way to the back of the bar, only tearing away when they took their seats a few booths down.
When the waitress brought her water and peanuts, she nodded a brief thank you and went about her business, apparently paying no mind to the men anymore.
To trained eyes, however, it may have appeared that she was listening quite intently.
This was Rachel, and it was her job to be mindful of everything around her, to watch, listen, and gather information while remaining as discreet as possible.

Character: Willow Rosenberg Fandom: Buffy: the Vampire Slayer
History: Willow was born in Sunnydale, California to neglectful, rarely present parents. She went to school and got amazing grades, became best friends with Xander and Jesse, and was generally a social outcast that was relied on for homework help. She was shy, Jewish by heritage and not devotion, had a lightly sarcastic sense of humor, and had a long-held crush on Xander.
Then Buffy Summers, the Slayer, transferred in from L.A., and Willow and Xander found out about the supernatural underbelly in their hometown. Jesse was shortly turned into a vampire and killed, and after seeing this, they knew they couldn't go back to their old way of living. They both decided to help Buffy in fighting the undead - an unprecedented decision objected to by her Watcher, Giles (who nevertheless came to see the merit in it years later, to say the least). Willow takes her place as the assistant researcher of the group and the computer person, hacking into school records, police databases, and morgue files to help them solve the monster mystery of the week. Although initially hesitant to break rules, she soon comes to do it without thought due to her desire to save lives. Buffy defeats the Master and fulfills a prophecy at the end of the season, and the structure of the group is further cemented.
In season two Willow's character undergoes several changes. She finally decides to move on from her unrequited crush on Xander and starts dating Oz, a mellow lead guitarist in a local band, who turns out to be a werewolf. They met while being scouted by the government for a job. She also develops an interest in magic after seeing what Giles and computer teacher Jenny Calendar can do with it, and when Angel loses his soul, performs the spell that re-ensouls him, a hefty bit of magic. Buffy, coping with everything else that happened that year, leaves Sunnydale for the summer; while she's gone, Willow and Xander try to keep a lid on the Hellmouth in her place.
Eventually she returns and season three finds the Scooby Gang seniors in high school. Faith, the next Slayer, arrives in Sunnydale and kicks off the major plot of the year with her involvement with the demonic, immortal mayor. Willow and Xander kiss at the homecoming dance despite both of them already dating someone else, and Spike, a lovelorn villain from the previous season, returns and kidnaps Willow, threatening to kill her and Xander if she doesn't perform a spell for him. While he goes out to get supplies, Xander and Willow make out again, and are caught by their respective boyfriend and girlfriend trying to rescue them. Oz eventually agrees to forgive her.
Other exciting things in season three include the wish-granting demon Anyanka playing havoc with alternate realities, Willow meeting a gay, vampire version of herself, and joining a local coven only to be persecuted by her own mother. The Scoobies' high school graduation is interrupted by the aforementioned mayor turning into an enormous snake, and them blowing up the school to get rid of them.
Despite being accepted at several Ivy League colleges, Willow enrolls at University of California Sunnydale alongside Buffy. Spike returns again and is captured by Initiative, a group of government-run commandos that are trying to keep a lid on the demon population in Sunnydale. They put a microchip in his brain that prevents him from harming humans, thus starting his long and arduous transition to the white hats. Meanwhile, Oz becomes attracted to a singer from another band, and discovers that she's a werewolf. The other werewolf attacks a jealous Willow, but is killed by Oz in his wolf form - Oz, convinced he's too dangerous to be around, leaves without expectation to return.
Heartbroken, Willow tries to cast a spell to have her will be done and make the pain go away, but only ends up causing problems among the Scoobies. She joins the group of Wiccans on campus and discovers that they're all propaganda and no magic. However, she does meet Tara there. The two fall in love very quickly and end up the iconic lesbian relationship of television pretty much to date. Oz does return later on in the season having gained control of the wolf, but Willow rejects him based on how she feels for Tara, and he loses control again based on his jealousy and decides to leave once more. The season closes with the final confrontation with the Initiative.
The overarching plot of season five is based on Dawn and Glory. Glory is a hell goddess determined to go home, but do it she needs the Key, a mystical ball of energy that ancient monks placed in the modern day in the form of Buffy's sister to ensure that she would feel motivated to protect it, and her. That takes a while to come out, though, and in the meantime Tara's family visits on her twentieth birthday and tell her that she will turn into a demon and needs to come home. This turns out to be a lie meant to control the magic-wielding women of the family, and the gang defends Tara from them and uncovers the secret. Willow also starts to grow protective of Xander as he and his girlfriend, Anya, are now engaged, and accidentally summons a troll while having an argument with her. The episode ends with them reassuring each other that Anya won't hurt him, and Willow doesn't want to date him anymore.
The plot picks up again with Glory trying to interrogate Dawn for, ironically, information on the Key's whereabouts - but Dawn herself doesn't know that she's the Key, so she finds out nothing, and Willow and Tara jointly perform a spell to teleport Glory away. Shortly afterwards Tara confesses to her that she's afraid of how powerful Willow is becoming, and not only does she feel left behind and unworthy, but she's legitimately afraid of her as well. The fight goes unresolved, and Tara walks off to have time to herself, only to be found by Glory and interrogated on the location of the Key. Tara does know, but refuses to give in, protecting Dawn, and in retaliation Glory drains her mind of sanity.
Willow finds her and takes a nonsensical, unstable Tara to the hospital, where she swears vengeance. She gathers dark magic from Giles' magic shop and attacks Glory directly. She does hurt her, which is more than anyone else had done previously, but in the end is seriously injured. Buffy, aware of what she'd planned, shows up to help and they escape. In the end Glory finds out Dawn is the Key, and they try to run away and hold her off, but to no avail - Dawn is taken. Overwhelmed, Buffy retreats inside her mind and goes into a fugue state right at the height of the crisis. Willow performs deep telepathy to 'wake her up' and tells her forcefully that it's not over yet and they can still save Dawn. Almost immediately after, though, Giles reveals that the only way to stop the ceremony Glory's performing once it starts is to kill Dawn. At the final fight, Buffy realizes her blood would stop it as well, and sacrifices herself in her sister's place.
Willow and Tara move into the Summers house to take care of Dawn in Buffy's absence. Believing that Buffy was sent to hell because she jumped into a portal when she died, Willow convinces her friends to help her resurrect her, keeping it a secret from Giles and Dawn. They actually succeed, but in reality Buffy had been in heaven, something she keeps to herself as well so as not to make her friends feel more guilty. Giles calls Willow a rank amateur and tells her that she has no idea what she's doing, that what she's done is incredibly dangerous, but Willow is arrogant enough to not only ignore him but insult him back.
This is a prelude for the addiction to magic that will herald the rest of the season for her. Tara, who saw this coming the year before, warns her again that she needs to stop using magic for every little thing, and Willow erases her memory of the argument altogether. The next day Tara finds evidence of the spell and threatens to leave her if she doesn't change, and challenges her to go a week without any magic at all if she wants her to stay, but Willow almost immediately casts another memory spell. This one goes awry and causes everyone to lose their memories entirely. After the spell breaks, Tara realizes what's happened and breaks up with her, moving out of the house and leaving Willow crying in the bathroom.
Without Tara's influence, her addiction worsens. She turns Amy, a minor character from seasons before who had been stuck as a rat, back into a human, and they go partying, high on their magic and using it recklessly. They get a kind of magic hangover and are completely drained. Amy suggests the next day that they visit someone called Rack, a warlock who can enable them to use spells without any recovery time at all, and they visit him. She achieves an extraordinary high and wakes up the next morning in her own room, only to cry in the shower, revealing that she's covering up her pain with the magic. Willow shapes some clothes that Tara left into an invisible body and curls up with it on the bed.
Yet that pain makes her seek it out more - despite having promised to take Dawn to a movie that night, Willow takes her instead to Rack's, where she gets extremely high again and very nearly gets Dawn killed. Once things have been sorted out, Willow, sobbing, tells a furious Buffy that she's terrified and needs help. She agrees to give up magic for good and fights the withdrawal on her own.
Despite having broken up with her and moving out, Tara remains in Willow's life and is devoted to her recovery. After the incident with Dawn, Willow has learned her lesson, and stays away from magic; several episodes later finds her and Tara chatting more or less amiably on a coffee date. Eventually Tara states that repairing their love would be a long process, and she'd just rather skip it, and the scene cuts on them kissing.
In the background of all this addiction and relationship drama has been the rising threat of the Trio, who are three college age boys, immature and deeply nerdy. Nevertheless, their attempts to become a threat to Buffy have been gaining more traction, and Willow discovers that they've been spying on Buffy's life with hidden cameras at her house, her job, her classrooms, and the local bar. As Buffy starts to close in on them, the ringleader of the Trio, Warren, decides to take things directly to her, and goes to her house with a gun. After shooting Buffy, he shoots again and accidentally kills Tara through a window, directly in Willow's arms. Willow tries to resurrect her but is told by the gods that it can't happen, as Tara died a natural, non-mystical, death. Enraged, she vows to kill Warren.
Willow walks directly from the house and is informed by Xander on the way out that Buffy's been shot. As he leaves in the ambulance, she makes her way to the magic shop, where she freezes Anya in place and sucks the black arts directly out of the books. She goes immediately to the hospital where Buffy is and heals her instantaneously, lifting the bullet out of her chest and telling her that they need to go after Warren. Xander and Buffy try to convince her to stop using magic, but she ignores them entirely, and the rest of the episode she pursues a terrified, running Warren.
Once she finds him, he strikes her with an axe, but she heals instantly and overcomes everything else he's brought. She magically ties him in place and, as he begs, realizes that Tara wasn't the first person he's killed. She tortures him viciously and repeatedly, finally killing him by flaying the skin from his body and setting him on fire. Then she disappears into thin air, intending to kill the other two members of the Trio.
Xander and Buffy regroup with the rest and force Jonathan and Andrew, the other two of the Trio, to stay with them in order to protect them. Willow catches up after recharging at Rack's and they prove no match for her implacable determination, even when Giles returns from England, empowered by an entire coven of witches. She absorbs the energy from him, but it coincides with a powerful burst of emotion, exactly what she's been avoiding feeling, and she decides the world is too terrible to go on. Teleporting to the ruins of a Satanic temple, Willow uses it to start draining the energy of the Earth itself, and back at the shop Anya informs the rest that nothing supernatural, including Buffy, can stop her.
Xander runs off to try to stop her anyway, conscientious that he can't physically do anything, and though Willow batters him with magic he refuses to budge and says that he loves her. If she's going to destroy the world, he wants to be right there beside her. Willow suddenly falls into his arms and breaks down sobbing, the dark magic draining from her. Giles tells Anya elsewhere that the magic he had was intended for Willow to steal in order to remind her of her humanity.
For the duration of the summer Willow stays with a coven in England, near where Giles lives, to learn how to live with and use her magic responsibly. The time does come for her to return to Sunnydale, but her fear that he friends won't want to see her or forgive her is potent enough to render her invisible to them. Even after that's cleared up and it's made obvious to her that they still love and support her, Willow fears she'll lose control and attack them again or otherwise become a threat once more. This worry persists throughout the season.
Despite her worry the real big bad of the seventh season is the First Evil, who has been rising up to balance the good that was brought into the world when Buffy was resurrected. It plans on terminating the Slayer line for good and ending the world. Potential Slayers, in danger from the First, gather at Buffy's house to train for the fight against it. One of the Potentials named Kennedy pursues Willow romantically, despite her still grieving for Tara. It takes time and an activated curse for Willow to come to accept the guilt she feels for considering moving on after Tara's death, but she does come to reciprocate Kennedy's affections, though they aren't near as close as Willow was with Tara.
In the last episode of the show, Buffy asks Willow to perform a spell to make all of the Potentials in the world into real Slayers, the most powerful thing she's ever attempted. Her hair turns white in the moment, and the spell succeeds, the First defeated and the Scoobies escaping safely as Sunnydale sinks into the ground. The show was continued officially in an "eighth season" in the comics.
Personality: Despite the enormity of her presence in Buffy, Willow actually is not all that complicated of a character. She is almost painfully well-meaning, though she often causes a lot of chaos and messes up despite her intentions. She starts the series very shy and nerdy, but throughout the course of the series she gains a good measure of confidence - her days of hiding behind headstones on patrol are long over. As a seasoned and powerful witch, as well as someone who's both experienced and caused a lot of pain, Willow can be particularly unflinching in the face of danger, especially when someone she cares about needs help.
But that isn't to say that she's unflinching in general. Outside of crisis situations, she's very sympathetic and open-minded; she feels things deeply and readily apologizes. She's seen crying several times, and takes solitude hard. Willow is ultimately a social person, and her self-image relies heavily on her friends' opinions of her. The times when they reject her hit home. When she goes evil after Tara's death, it's Xander's continual proclamations of love and friendship that make her recover.
She's also incredibly loyal and forgiving. Her friends are everything to her, and she isn't averse to an old enemy becoming one of those friends. She passes up a chance to go to an Ivy League school in order to stay home in Sunnydale and support them, and never seems to second guess that choice. Willow is frequently overeager and even too trusting, but this trust usually ends up serving her well - she remains friends with Angel regardless of all that happens, up to hugging him in Angel season four. She helps anyone readily and judges infrequently.
That said, her roots as an outcast nerd aren't something that are entirely lost. She still finds intelligence sexy, and ostracism, as I've already stated, is something she's sensitive to. But this is also where her dedication and dependence on her friends comes from. When Buffy dies, Willow feels like she's been counted on to bring her back - she frequently tries to "make things better" and disparages herself when she can't. She takes care of Dawn responsibly and with extraordinary compassion, all the while conspiring with the others to resurrect Buffy. She lures a fawn to her and kills it bloodily, and although the act haunts her it isn't something she necessarily regrets. In fact, it's a kind of foreshadowing to Tara's death and the lengths she'll go to for someone she loves, whether that's platonic or romantic.
At her core, Willow wants to be special. She grew up ignored and neglected by her parents, no matter how perfectly she did in school, and was continually belittled by her classmates. She has her moments of jealousy and cattiness, and tends to latch onto anyone that shores up her self-esteem. She's matured a good amount since her time in high school, but the fact remains that a lot of what she does is determined by other peoples' opinions... And when she does start to stand up for herself, things get loud and messy.
Willow can be incredibly selfish. Time and again, the times she makes mistakes in the show are due to her own self-interest - from tampering with Tara's memories to making out with Xander way back in season two, and to bringing Dawn with her to get high on dark magic instead of taking her out as she'd promised, it's all drawn from that same flaw of selfishness. In particular she's given to being impulsive, as well: those spells of hers that don't work were often ill thought out and done on the spur of the moment. Both of these character traits feed directly into her eventual problem with addiction.
Magic is something Willow sees as making her unique, special, and loved. It's important to remember the root of her character, and indeed of most Buffy characters: parental neglect. Willow grew to replace that need for parental approval with need for approval from her friends, but in her selfish, impulsive way, she wants to set the terms for what they'll approve of. It hit her unbelievably hard when she realized what she'd done wrong, and that the support of her friends was conditional on what they decided, not what she wanted it to be. Magic wasn't a fix-all, and she really could mess up irreparably. Telling Giles that he was jealous of her power, heady after her success of resurrecting Buffy, was the first sign of her denial that anything that made her happy could be wrong.
But, at the same time, these kinds of flaws are common in people her age. They just don't usually have the power to change someone's memory or end the world.
Other: I'd be starting her at the beginning of season three and taking her through canon, so her samples reflect that time period. And I'm still not sure if I'll be using the comics - once we get there (and once I read them rofl), we'll see! \o/
Additional Links: Her Buffypedia entry. I've skipped a lot of things in Buffy canon, because seriously, I am not out to write a novel here even though I sort of did anyway. :|; So if you need anything cleared up, Wikipedia should have it somewhere, or you can always ask me.
First Person: You know, I think I've heard this song before, only now it's a different verse. Less 'demon trapped in computer' and more 'sentient internet community'. Pretty similar.
At least this one doesn't kill people, right? ...Right? There aren't any records of it - well, there's some people that were killed in a game, but they were brought back to life right after, so it's almost like it doesn't count! Except for the part where they died and have memories of it, but, pfft, death. It's so passé to have a permanent death these days.
But, just to check, no one here is named Malcolm Black, are they? Cause that one's a no starter.
But to introduce myself... I'm Willow, I'm a senior in high school, and I'm from California, 1999. Is it not cool to ask for spoilers on things like presidential elections and Y2K and whether the world really will end in 2012 like the Mayan calendar says it will? Cause part of me's interested, and part of me just keeps thinking of the temporal prime directive. Let me know what the dos and don'ts are here.
Third Person: Willow wasn't that good at magic yet, but she was getting there. School and learning came naturally to her, and this translated well to learning the occult, too - but the real motivation behind getting good at it was that she'd become so used to being the acknowledged straight A student, as having that as her identity, that she didn't want to accept that she could be anything less than an equivalently straight A witch.
She placed an orange candle, harvest orange not fruit orange, and sank down onto folded legs before her tiny altar. A small handful of nuts and a whole apple sat next to the candle, symbols of the fruit of the Earth. "Demeter, bless us with your bounty," she murmured, the candle wick flickering alight. "Bless us as you mourn the departure of your daughter to the underworld, for we walk in the shadow of mortality as well and need your goodwill."
That was the entire spell, more of a prayer than a spell really, but her words broke the settled hush of a waiting room. The shadows by her bed and window and book stand grew longer to Willow's eye, the night dark and crisp. She sat, waiting, for several long moments.
Then she smiled and popped a walnut into her mouth. "This is pretty good bounty if I do say so myself," she joked to no one, easily imagining Xander or Buffy there beside her.
But she was alone, and that was fine for now. The thrill of success was flushing her, making her eager to keep going. Willow shifted her weight, resettled herself, and took the now doubled amount of nuts off the table. The apple was moved into their place. "Demeter," she began. Then took a deep breath, admonishing herself to focus better before attempting a spell. "Demeter, bless us, for we walk in the shadow of mortality..."
