Character: Scott Pilgrim

Fandom: Scott Pilgrim VS the world (movie-verse, pre-canon)

Character Notes:

History:

movie!Scott's history begins in high school, in the short released outside of the movie. He had just transferred into a new school, and had already gotten into an 'awesome fight' -- in his first 15 minutes of being there. This is how he befriended another new student, Lisa Miller. The two of them started a band to become cool, and Scott decided that he'd recruit Kim, the girl who he sat next to in geography class.

This is where the line between truth and lie becomes blurred. Scott also has decided that he likes her, see? And there was this guy who liked her -- a guy called Simon Lee. Now, in the animation, it shows a huge awesome fight, on a rainy day. But that's Scott lying to us in flashback. It's also a lie when it shows that he told Kim that he'd moved away.

Anyhow, the next important thing which shapes him in his history is his period dating Natalie. He met her at the University of Toronto, and the two hit it off and totally started a band. However, Scott couldn't see that she was changing and starting to enjoy the life of a rock star. As she changed both her appearance, personality, and name, Scott eventually got into a drunken argument with her, and they broke up. However, Scott repressed those memories. This is a common theme with Pilgrim, and it will really come to bite him in the proverbial ass in the future. But this is his history.

Anyhow, Scott moved in with his cool gay roommate Wallace Wells after uni, and hasn't gotten a job yet. However, he's in a band with Stephen Stills and Kim Pine. And this is where his history ends, him being pre-canon and all.

Character: Claire Leonelli
Fandom: Heat Guy J (anime)
Character Notes:

[identity profile] frogginator.livejournal.com 2010-12-07 01:21 am (UTC)(link)
History: Claire Leonelli was born to the Vampire (Don) of the Leonelli Family, the most powerful mafia organization in the futuristic and long-past-post-apocalyptic city of Judeau. His childhood was a lonely and difficult one, as his father was often too busy with his work to pay much attention to Claire, and when he did, he was harsh and difficult to please, hard on him in order to make him stronger, to condition him to be a future Vampire of the Leonelli Family himself. Claire didn't quite understand his father's harshness, neglect, and occasional physical and psychological abuse as an attempt to toughen him up, and as a result he had the consistent, nagging insecurity of feeling never good enough for his father. It is obvious, however, that Claire's father cared for him to some extent - when Claire was quite young, his father picked up a tough vagrant boy with the right look in his eyes, named Giovanni, and brought him to Claire, telling Giovanni that the boy was lonely because his mother was gone (leaving unspoken that his father was also rarely present).

However, because of the spartan way he was raised, Claire grew up always trying to please his father, to be the best that he could be, and relying heavily on Giovanni, and later on, the other two bodyguards that attached themselves loyally to him, Ian and Mitchell, to keep his sanity. Things continued on in this vein until, when Claire was 19 years old, his father passed away, and he was left to take over the Leonelli Family as its new Vampire.

This is the point at which the series starts, and the series contains a lot of events that very seriously affected Claire as a person. Despite their misgivings about Claire's age and mental instability, the other mafia leaders in the city accept Claire as the Vampire. He then proceeds to mess up - a lot. His decisions are all made on whims and impulses, and he gets bored easily, which leads to many members of his family being taken out by other families that he's angered, and losing a lot of money for the Vita corporation, the Leonelli's front organization and money laundering tool. His poor choices and their nasty consequences attract the attention of several people including the hero of the series, Daisuke Aurora. Daisuke told Claire that he would not allow him to continue emulating his father and causing problems.

Griffin O'Conner - Jumper - 2/?

[identity profile] itsalair.livejournal.com 2010-12-07 01:23 am (UTC)(link)
Character: Griffin O’Conner
Fandom: Jumper
Character Notes:
History: Griffin was born and lived in the United Kingdom with his parents until he was five. That's when he made his first Jump. It attracted suspicious people (what he learned to be called Paladins), and caused the O'Conner family to move to the United States.

At the age of nine, he had a problem with a bully in his karate class and Jumped on reflex. Because of this, the Paladins traced him to the O'Conner residence in San Diego and killed both of his parents. Griffin survived the attack and hid at a placed called the Empty Quarter where his father and him would train.

A man named Sam found him in the Empty Quarter and took him in. Griffin lived with him for a few years in Mexico, learning the language and hiding his ability. When he finally did reveal he was a Jumper, Paladins found him again and managed to kill Sam. Griffin was alone in the world once more.

After this, Griffin took solitude in the mountains of the San Diego park in a place he calls "The Hole". He lived in The Hole for a few years. During his last year of living at The Hole, Griffin met a girl named E.V. Kelson. He fell in love with her and eventually told her the truth about his Jumping, family, and hiding place. The Paladins compromised her at one point and tried to get her to drug him at a party, or they would kill her family. The plan didn't work and Griffin rescued her mother and brother from a bomb that was planted in her New Jersey home before leaving her. (The father was killed before he could do anything.)

After this, he lived under a pyramid in Egypt. He called it his "lair", being as he's a big comic fan. Griffin built up an arsenal of weapons in his lair as he lived his life. He followed around a Jumper for a while named David Rice, who seemed to be living a life without the problems of Paladins. In time, he became a mentor to David and the two ended up teaming up to fight one of the head Paladins named Roland Cox. Griffin and Roland have been fighting for years, the British Jumper having many scars to prove this.

David and Griffin's team up went bad when the Paladins took David's girlfriend named Millie. Griffin wanted to use a bomb and David didn't. They fought over the bomb and detonation device until David finally left Griffin in power lines in Chechnya. (Electricity is a Jumper's weakness.)

[identity profile] lanternlooking.livejournal.com 2010-12-08 03:47 am (UTC)(link)
History: As narrated by Flynn in the film, Rapnzel's story begins with a single drop of sunlight. One day a drop of sunlight fell to the Earth and from it grew a magical flower. The first to find this flower was Mother Gothel. She used the power of the flower to remain young and beautiful. However, centuries later in a kingdom, the queen was pregnant with their first child she grew very ill. The people of the kingdom went out in search of the magical flower. They were successful and the queen and her child were saved. Gothel was of course enraged to have lost her flower. When Rapunzel was born the kingdom rejoiced and celebrated by releasing a single lantern into the night sky. However, soon after Rapunzel's birth, Gothel snuck into the palace. She found that Rapunzel's hair had the same magical abilities as the flower. She tried to cut a lock of the hair, but once cut the hair lost all of its power. So instead she ran away with Rapunzel and hid her away in a tower where she would never be found. In their grief, the king and queen decided that they would release countless lanterns into the sky on each of Rapunzel's birthdays until she returned.

Skip ahead several years and Rapunzel is now an artistic, smart and optimistic young woman. She never once left her tower, though her chameleon friend, Pascal wishes otherwise. However, over the years her curiosity of the outside world has grown immensely. Once a year on her birthday she sneaks to her window at night and watches a million lights fly through the sky in the distance. More than anything she wanted to see those lights up close. One her eighteenth birthday she asked Mother Gothel if she could go to see them as her gift. Gothel is of course firmly against this and warns her of the frightening things in the outside world. She makes Rapunzel promise to never ask her about leaving again.

While Gothel is out traveling a man snuck into the tower. Using a frying pan, Rapunzel knocks him unconcious and hides him in her closet. She thinks for sure that this proves that she can face the scary things of the world. She waits until Gothel returns so that she can prove it to her. However Gothel does not give her the chance as she grows too angry about talk about leaving the tower. Rapunzel keeps the man a secret and waits for Gothel to leave again. Rapunzel finds a satchel that the man is carrying and inside it finds a tiara. She hides it and waits for the man to wake up. Using the satchel as a bargaining tool she finds out that the man is Flynn Rider, a thief. They make a promise that he will be her guide to the lights and in return she would return the satchel. For the first time Rapunzel leaves the tower and has complete freedom.

Of course, after they leave Rapunzel goes through some severe mood swings. She switches between being complete ecstatic about her freedom to sobbing in distress that she is a terrible daughter. Flynn attempts to use her uneasiness to trick her into giving up. They travel to a pub for all kinds of criminals but Rapunzel with her earnest dream to see the lanterns wins them over. Royal guards come to capture Flynn but the men in the pub allow for him, Rpaunzel and Pascal to escape. After a very exciting chase scene the three are trapped in a cave that is filling with water. Unable to see they can't find a way to escape. Desperate, Rapunzel reveals the power of her hair and lets it glow so they can find a way to escape. Because Flynn was hurt she also uses her hair to heal him. At this point she really begins to trust him, and even begin to love him. While Flynn is off gathering firewood Mother Gothel appears, aware of Rapunzel's escape. Rapunzel is sure that Flynn likes her and would not abandon her for the crown. So Gothel presses Rapunzel to test her relationship with Flynn by giving him the tiara back. Not wanting to believe this, Rapunzel refuses, but takes the tiara with her.

Character: Eugene ‘Flynn Rider’ Fiztgerald
Fandom: Tangled

Re: Flynn Rider // Tangled // Reserved // 2-5

[identity profile] pettycharm.livejournal.com 2010-12-08 05:04 pm (UTC)(link)
History:
Flynn Rider was born Eugene Fitzherbert to loving parents, John and Maria. Tragically, Maria died of illness just weeks after the birth of Eugene, and John found himself unable to care for the small boy on his own. So, believing it was for the best, he sent Eugene to the local orphanage and never looked back.

Eugene's childhood in the orphanage was a tough one, with the older children constantly hassling him because of his name, scrawny, unkempt appearance, and generally timid nature. The boy often found recluse by burying himself in books. The yellowed pages opened a whole new world to him; a world filled with adventure, beautiful maidens, and swashbuckling heroes. Often, he'd read the tales to some of the younger children, his voice filled with so much passion it was obvious he longed for that life as his own. As a child lost in his own world, young Eugene hardly seemed to notice the state of grief that gripped the kingdom when their princess disappeared.

He would only find out years later that it would change his life forever.

As Eugene grew into young adulthood (and a pretty handsome one at that), he (like many teens) went through a rebellious streak- committing petty crimes, telling tall tales to boost his reputation, and eventually changing his name in honor of his favourite character from the stories he read as a child: Flynn Rider. A name much better than Eugene, in his not so humble opinion. He wanted to change his image to one of a person much more.... suave. Dashing. Cool. A name that suited his new found good looks. The thing is, Flynn never really grew out of his rebelling ways. Soon, Flynn left the orphanage behind to live a life of his own. He would continue committing acts of thievery, stealing the simple things he'd need to survive. That is, until he began to turn greedy, stealing expensive treasures and quickly turning himself the kingdom's most wanted thief. His spree quickly lead up to his biggest crime of all- stealing the tiara of the kingdom's missing princess right off of it's cushioned pedestal.

After leaving his two accomplices (the Stabbington Brothers) behind, a desperate dash through the woods, and a battle with the guard's top horse, Maximus, Flynn decides to hide in a lone tower located in the deepest part of the wood. Much to his surprise, and agony, someone lived in that tower. A girl, to be exact. A girl with seventy feet of shimmering gold hair. Her name was Rapunzel, and she wasn't to happy to have a trespasser in her home. After knocking him out cold with a frying pan, three times, stuffing him in a closet, and having her pet frog chameleon harrass him with it's tongue; she had him tied up in a tricky situation, one that even his best charm couldn't diffuse. She demanded that he take her down to see the lantern festival, or else she wouldn't return his satchel (and the tiara within) to him. So Flynn had no choice but agree to take Rapunzel with him to the world outside. He had a foolproof plan: Blondie would see the horrors of the outside world, scurry back to the safety of her tower, and leave him alone with his riches in peace. Right?

Wrong.

Character: Brera Sterne
Fandom: Macross Frontier
Character Notes:
History: Brera’s history is vague at best. He and his younger sister (LOL RANKA) and their family were passengers aboard the ship Macross Global. Then one day, TRAGEDY STRUCK and the ship and the entire fleet accompanying it were attacked by the crazy bug-like vajra, an alien speicies that seems to only want to attack humans and zentradi for no specific reason.

ANYWAY so Brera got separated from his family and ended up being kidnapped by this evil bitch lady named Grace who brainwashed him and made him into her own little mysterious bitch. The next we see of him he’s being all mysterious and mysteriously fighting against our Macross Frontier heroes. And to be frank, Brera kicks all of their asses.

Then he shows up and is Ranka’s bodyguard since he’s revealed to be on the GOOD GUYS’ SIDE for some reason, but really he’s just Grace’s tool, and despite his efforts to break free or whatever he and Ranka get kidnapped and used to incite the vajra to attack humans ‘cause it turns out Ranka’s singing is magical and stuff. But then that gets turned around with the help of Sheryl and Alto and stuff and evil Grace is defeated and it turns out the vajra just liked Ranka’s singing and she has a special connection to them or whatever and so everything turns out great because guess what they get to live on an actual planet and it’s AWESOME and everyone’s happy and stuff.

Brera Sterne ~ Macross Frontier ~ 2/3

[identity profile] captainlilith.livejournal.com 2010-12-11 05:59 am (UTC)(link)
Personality: Brera is a man of few words. He’s very serious, but that’s really only because LOL BRAINWASHING pretty much prevents him from having the freedom to feel any real emotion. He does show some emotion however, mostly in the presence of Ranka. He feels a instinctive attachment to her and feels the need to protect her, even before they realize they’re siblings. Ranka even says she feels like he’s a big brother to her, in a moment of complete fail foreshadowing. But still, that pretty much defines their relationship. From the moment they “meet” they feel connected and instinctively trust each other, enough so that Brera is frank and honest with Ranka in a way he isn’t with anyone else, mostly because he doesn’t really talk to anyone else.
Other: He’ll be taken from the same canon point as the rest of the Macross cast.

History:
What post-apocalyptic story have you heard started out good?

This is no different. It started with a war. No one’s entirely sure anymore what the war was about. But it’s effects are still felt 30 years later, and the face of the planet drastically morphed into a shell of what it once was. Nuclear weaponry destroyed the lands and when it was all done, tore a hole in the ozone layer that could not be repaired. The initial devastation was catastrophic. Only the people lucky enough to go under were safe from the sun’s damage.

A year came and went, and soon people began to crawl out of their holes in the earth and scramble for some sense of reality once again. While they did find a way to use sunglasses to avoid overexposure to the sun and going blind, nothing could repair the damage to society. People came and went over the next thirty years, and being older than thirty was considered a miracle somehow. Society became hectic and dangerous, and life reverted back to the old ways of ‘survival of the fittest’ in its truest forms. Humans began to eat other humans to survive, the lowest and most despicable form of survival. But it was survival nonetheless.

These humans were given the name ‘Prions’, a name that comes from the Prion disease from too much protein that can drive a person to dementia. But sometimes you can’t see dementia outright, but the hands were a sure way to see Prions a mile away. Check the hands. If they shook, you got out of there fast.

From this mangled mess of society small towns began to emerge wherever possible. They never had names because that was too lasting. You didn’t name a town that only existed for less than 30 years at most. And you certainly didn’t name a town where your control was loose at best.

But Carnegie made a town all the same. He welcomed all stragglers who needed refuge. He hired thugs to keep out the riffraff and the prions. He took control of the only known water supply in miles and rationed it out as he saw fit. He kept all the best things in the world and he made the town into the only refuge for miles around. People lived there, whether they liked it or not.

Solara’s mother was one of these people. She had been alive before the war, but born a blind woman. That’s when Carnegie built his town; she was quick to go with her husband. Whatever became of her husband is unsure, but it’s clear he was no longer in the picture while a young Solara was. Claudia was blind and Solara young, both needed protection, and Carnegie offered it to them. He took them in and treated Claudia well when it served him, and horribly when it didn’t.

Solara grew up in this home, knowing that Carnegie was just and means to an end for Claudia, and not her father. But he kept Solara safe as well. He let her work the bar rather than work the men, keeping Claudia happy for as long as it suited his purposes. It wasn’t the best life, and sometimes Solara had to bite her tongue as Carnegie hurt her mother before her eyes, but at least they had a warm place to sleep and safety and Solara never had to resort to desperate things.

That didn’t mean men didn’t want Solara, though. One man in particular was Redridge, Carnegie’s second in command. Redridge wanted Solara that much was obvious by his constant staring. But he was too much of Carnegie’s lapdog to ever do anything about it, and Carnegie didn’t seem interested in putting Solara to a use. So Redridge was simply a presence in Solara’s life, and Solara had to wonder when he would ask Carnegie for her. Not that Redridge was a bad man; he seemed to genuinely care about her. But he wasn’t her choice, and that was enough for her.

So Solara and Claudia lived their lives. Claudia both spoiled and hurt by Carnegie, and Solara trying to make herself as little of a presence as possible in the town to avoid the day when Carnegie turned on her.

And then the walker came into town.

He was a different man. He wasn’t afraid of anything it seemed, but he wasn’t harsh. He spoke softly and politely and waited patiently on all things. He had only come for the water and to charge his music player at the engineer’s store, but stopping for water in Carnegie’s town changed both their lives.

[identity profile] perditionraiser.livejournal.com 2010-12-11 11:19 am (UTC)(link)
Character: Castiel
Fandom: Supernatural
Character Notes:
History:
As far as Supernatural canon goes, we don't know a whole lot about Castiel's life before he crosses paths with the Winchesters. He was a soldier of heaven, and took orders from superiors such as Uriel and Anna. Rescuing Dean Winchester from Hell and resurrecting him was another one of those orders. He tries to speak to Dean in his true form after raising him, but all Dean hears is a loud piercing noise. Dean makes an effort to figure out who did it by getting help from a psychic, and he ends up… blinding her with his true form after attempting to warn her away. Oops.

One vessel acquired and summoning ritual later, Cas appears in Jimmy Novak's body to Dean, and explains who he is (ie, an "angel of the lord") and his purpose in saving Dean-- God has work for him.

He then spends a period time assisting the Winchesters on some of their cases, as a lot of the trouble they encounter are with seals, and Lucifer will be set free after 66 are broken. Castiel shows Dean the truth about his parents, and puts him through a trial to test his decision making skills under battlefield conditions.

The discovery of Anna brings more trouble. Castiel comes down with Uriel with orders to find and kill her. Dean and Sam protect her, not approving of the murder of someone they see as an innocent girl. Uriek threatens Dean in his dreams to get the Winchesters to hand over Anna's location. As they're about to take her, Ruby arrives with Alastair and they engage in a struggle. Cas is almost exorcised from his vessel by Alastair, only to be saved by Dean and a tire iron. Anna regains her grace and become an angel again. She flees the scene, leaving Uriel and Cas with nothing to do but go back to Heaven.

Cas then refrained from helping the Winchesters for awhile, excluding an emergency encounter with Alastair.

Angels started dying at an alarming rate, and Uriel and Castiel came down to request Dean's help. They'd captured Alastair, and needed the torturing skills Dean acquired in Hell to get answers out of him. When he refuses, the two angels transport him to where Alastair is being kept anyway.

Dean, still angry, insists on speaking to Cas alone. Cas has to explain that because his superiors feel he's too emotionally involved with the Winchesters, he's been placed under Uriel's authority. He convinces Dean that the angels need his help, and waits outside while Dean tortures Alistair.

Anna comes to Cas and argues with him that using Dean in this way is wrong, and that God would never order this. She plants the seed of doubt in him, but he still argues against her, saying that they're nothing alike because she fell.

When Alistair manages to break free of the Devil's Trap he'd been caught in, Cas enters the room and fights him. He's almost forced out of his vessel by Alistair until Sam hopped up on demon blood intervenes.

After a brief discussion with Uriel, Castiel talks to Anna again, saying that he's considering disobedience, but doesn't believe it is "good". Thriving on orders like he does, he asks her to tell him what to do. She refuses, saying that he needs to make his own decisions.

Cas discovers that Uriel had been behind the deaths of the angels, and that the only way to escape dying by his hand was to convert to his way of thinking-- that being that Lucifer needed to rise so humanity could be destroyed. He fights him and almost loses before Anna arrives and saves the day by killing Uriel.

Later, Cas has to be the one to break the news to Dean that Alistair's taunts were right-- Dean did break the first seal.

Cas is next seen when the Winchesters discover that Chuck Shirley is a Prophet of God. Dean asks him to help prevent the future Chuck Shirley predicts, but Cas explains that he can't interfere-- whatever a prophet sees will come to pass. But he also explains that an archangel will come to protect Chuck from any potential danger, and Dean uses this knowledge to shove Chuck in the same room where Sam and Lilith are about to fight. Saji Crossroad | Gundam 00 | two | srsly you're all slavedrivers

[identity profile] touchmy12inch.livejournal.com 2010-12-15 10:55 pm (UTC)(link)
History: It sucks to be Saji. Like, a lot. THE END.

Okay, fine. At the start of season one, it doesn't suck that much to be Saji! He's a normal student, studying aerospace engineering quite happily with his hyperactive girlfriend Louise Halevy. He lived with his older sister, Kinue, since their PARENTS ARE DEAAAAAAAAAAAD but actually that's not a major reason for suckage, Saji and Kinue get by pretty well. He also worked as a pizza delivery boy. Meanwhile, the stuff involving Celestial Being mostly goes over his head, except when it impacts his schoolwork. No, really. He meets some guy called Setsuna F. Seiei and tries to make friends with the guy, but this Setsuna's really cold. BUT AT LEAST SAJI TRIED.

Then there are some terrorist bombings which Saji and Louise are caught up in while walking home. Luckily, neither were badly injured but it starts to bring home to Saji that yes, shit gets real. And then Louise's mom mum is like OH MY GOD LOUISE YOU CAN'T STAY THERE and shows up to drag her off but Louise ain't having none of that. Matters aren't helped by the fact that Louise's mom mum doesn't like Saji all that much until she realises that HE IS BUT A POOR PIZZA DELIVERY BOY and just trying to do his best in this cruel world of theirs :c Also at some point, Louise spotted a pair of pretty rings and since she clearly wants Saji to put a ring on it, she demands them as a present, and though he protests at the price, he secretly works extra hours so that he can afford them.

Meanwhile, however, Louise had buggered off back home for a bit. Saji calls her up on her cousin's wedding day but the call is cut short. This is not due to a loss of signal, as Saji assumes, but it's because SOMEONE thought it'd be a GOOD IDEA to BLOW UP THE WEDDING for absolutely NO REASON AT ALL. Bombs fall, everyone dies. Saji rushes the fuck over to see Louise in hospital with the rings he's managed to buy but Louise can't wear hers - because she's lost a hand which can't be regenerated because of mumbleparticlesorsomething. She tells Saji to forget her and to fulfil his dream of reaching space.

But the plot's not finished with Saji yet. Kinue had been busy looking into Celestial Being's roots and was murdered for her trouble by Ali al-Saachez, and Saji is called in by the police to identify her body. He blames Celestial Being and the Gundams for all his misfortunes. During the ~TIMESKIP~, he achieves his dream of getting into space and is working on a space colony, but he hasn't given up on Louise and still intends to find her.

And then within like, two minutes of seeing him at the start of S2, everything sucks pretty hardcore again for him as he's taken in by the Federation, accused of working for Kataron or something. Saji's just like ¯\(°_o)/¯ at all this because he really has no idea wtf is going on (then again, when does he ever?). He gets dragged off to work in some nasty place that has loads of gravity. It's not long before Kataron's forces show up to rescue their people and in the chaos, Setsuna F Seiei sneaks into the facility and runs into Saji. tl;dr Setsuna saves Saji, takes him back to Celestial Being, Saji has a MASSIVE FREAKOUT because he blames CB for everything ever. And then he proceeds to mope around for a while.

Throughout the rest of this series, Saji manages to fuck up shit pretty badly, causing a horrible massacre of members of Kataron but eventually, he mans the fuck up and turns out to be somehwat of a hidden badass in the end.

Character: Saotome Alto
Fandom: Macross Frontier
Character Notes:
History:
A Series Of Important Events:

- 18 years ago, Saotome Alto is born into a family of fine Kabuki actors. He strongly resembles his mother, a beautiful, beautiful woman who longed to see the real sky. And therefore, because of that, Alto's love for the sky is also born.

- He followed in his father's footsteps and became a Kabuki actor, having a starring role in Sakurahime, a role that many in the film industry had not yet forgotten. However, he wanted to become a pilot; left home, and enrolled in Mihoshi Academy.

- He meets Sheryl and Ranka. Most notably, through an awful turn of events, he's forced to pilot his very first variable fighter due to a Vajra attack, and due to the previous pilot of said variable fighter getting squashed like a particularly noisy bug before his eyes. Shit happens. Lots of shit. Ranka gets rescued.

- After a good punch in the face from Ozma, Ranka's brother, another attack and so on and so forth, Alto finds out about the Vajra, and eventually becomes a part of SMS.

- Love triangle shenanigans blossom amongst all three of them. Days out with Sheryl, Ranka becoming a star, etc etc etc

- Sheryl takes him to a planet with a sky, but Sheryl falls seriously ill and more shit goes down, Ranka gets sent over and more Stuff Happens, which culminate in said planet pretty much getting ate in the face and dying. Because, you know, of Sheryl's manager.

- More shit happens, Sheryl is ill and Alto finds out. Ranka stumbles on them after a concert and is pained and another Vajra attack happens. War happens. Lots of casualties, and it turns out that because of her heartbreak, Ranka's song turns those vajra batshit.

- Michel dies. This is terrible.

- Ranka flies off with Ai-kun, leaving Alto livid and deeply, deeply upset.

- President Glass assassinated, new president comes to power. SMS revolts, Sheryl is dying, Alto realizes this and doesn't join in the rebellion. He has sex(?) with her and is committed to stay with her during her last days. More stuff happens. Alto swears to kill Ranka to protect Frontier, even if it pains him.

- He becomes an officer, engages in more wars/skirmishes until a final one where they save Ranka, save Sheryl, keep that love triangle pretty much intact, realize that the vajra weren't the bad guys after all - Grace is (remember that chick who was once Sheryl's manager?) - and promptly bugger off to their home planet to live there.

...I think that is pretty much it.

[identity profile] queen-qing.livejournal.com 2010-12-16 03:12 pm (UTC)(link)
Personality: Saotome Alto is pretty much your average kind of guy. Pretty much. With his naturally girlish looks, he became famous for playing Sakura-hime in kabuki theater until he left home to pursue his dream of being a pilot. Born to a prestigious acting family, his past in theater is not something that he's particularly proud of, even though he's known as an excellent actor; much to his father's chagrin. He pretty much would rather take to the skies - it's his passion. Alto left his father to pursue aforementioned passion, and also out of typical teenage defiance. His first love is the sky and flying, and he has a natural gift for flight. Extremely agile and deadly when it came to dealing with enemies, he's one of the best in the fleet. Even then, he's more commonly nicknamed as 'Ohime-sama', or rather, Princess; a name that pretty much pisses him off whenever it's brought up.

However, being your typical teenage male, Alto is generally aloof, temperamental, defiant and brash, going along more with his emotions instead of logic. He has a short temper, flying off the handle alarmingly easily. He can be quite standoffish when you first meet him, stubborn, prideful and pigheaded, but Alto does have his heart in the right place when all is said and done. He doesn't play by the rules all that often; screwing said rules when it comes to sticky situations. However, it works quite well for him, and it is a wonder if he thinks quickly, or if he doesn't think at all.

Alto's the kind of guy who'd do almost anything for his friends, from taking the only day off to watch their concerts to charging headlong into the path of imminent danger - like straight into the mouth of a Vajra mothership, for one, just to save a friend trapped inside. He's fiercely protective of all that he cares about, and he relies on his emotions a lot more than his logic. Often reckless and pretty lucky when it comes to getting out of scrapes, Alto often comes out of situations the better for it. Often. He's a decent guy generally - he doesn't set out to be a heartbreaker or a lady-killer. When it comes to relationships, he's the kind of guy who's quite oblivious to his own/other girls' feelings for him. He's caught between two girls, and it's clear that he has some kind of special feeling for both of them, but he doesn't seem to be aware of it yet.

He's a nice guy when it comes to these things - down-to-earth, occasionally grumpy, and quite easy to rile up. While not a romantic, he can also be quite the pushover when it come right down to it, since he does have a soft spot for the ones he cares for. He takes things seriously and can be a little bit of a prude - he is a straight-laced kind of guy who's not prone to being flirtatious. He had a tendency to be contemplative and rather thoughtful from time to time, but those times are few and far between. Obliviously, endearingly insensitive most times, he still has an ability to not come off as too much of a heartless jerk despite his bluntness.

In short, he is an idiot.

He's also a person who tends to run away from things when he can, covering it up with fierce denials -- this can definitely be seen when Michel accuses him of running away more than once -- but he is made of stronger stuff than that when push comes to shove. Willing to even kill Ranka if she threatens the safety of Frontier, Alto has grown into a passionate, driven man able to put the needs of the many before his own.

Despite his aversion to acting and anything associated with it, Alto is still pretty self-aware, from time to time, about his appearance, and can be caught preening in the mirror occasionally when he's in the mood. He can also be caught reciting Japanese quotes/poetry from time to time, which shows that even when he shies away from his prestigious acting background, it still has a place in his heart.

[identity profile] fireofhope.livejournal.com 2010-12-16 06:07 pm (UTC)(link)
Character Notes:
History: He was raised by his mother Maria, whom he used to call Maria Benedetta (the blessed Mary). To the questions about his father, she would always reply that he had died before Carlo was born and that now God was his father. She raised him a strict Catholic by bringing him to Mass every day.

During a vacation on Sicily, the church they visited came under attack of communist Red Brigades terrorists and Carlo was the sole survivor. Later he would say that God had saved him by leading him into a safe corner.
A bishop from Palermo then took him in and Carlo lived and learned under monks. But at the age of 16 he was conscripted to the Italian army. There he refused to fire a weapon, so they taught him to fly a helicopter and to parachute. After serving two years, he entered seminary. When the bishop was elected Pope, he named Carlo his Camerlengo.

Before the initial events occurred within the novel, Carlo had been sent, by the Vatican, to CERN (European Center for Nuclear Research) to meet with scientist Leonardo Vetra. This was to investigate claims that a discovery of profound religious significance had occurred. Here, he was shown the procedure to create antimatter. Carlo was ethically disturbed by this discovery, and reported his findings to the Pope, which was met with a positive response. The Pope claimed that he owed a great debt to science, and he agreed with Leonardo Vetra that the discovery held profound religious significance. Carlo was saddened to hear this from the Pope, so the Pope explained that he had fathered a child, so he owed a deep debt to science. Shocked and disappointed about this betrayal to God and the church, Carlo abandoned the Pope before the situation was explained. Carlo found himself on St. Peter's tomb where he believed he received instructions from God. THREE GUESSES WHAT THEY ARE.

Carlo carried out this believed instruction by poisoning the Pope with lethal dose of Heparin (which the pope required for his illness). Due to his role as the Camerlengo, he took the authority of the Holy See while a new Pope was elected (although without most of the Pope' prerogatives). During this time period, he hired an assassin to kill the four Cardinals held in the highest regard by the college, papabilies or preferati),thus ensuring a confusion in the Conclave as to who should be elected to the papacy.

He covered up many of these actions by assuming an alias as the leader of the Illuminati, known as Janus.

The novel then begins with the antimatter having been stolen from CERN and hidden in the Vatican, and used as a terrorist threat against the church. This is known to have been engineered by the Illuminati, which Carlo is claiming to be the leader of. The Illuminati claims that they wish to destroy the Vatican as vengeance for the murder and repression of science before the Age of Enlightenment.

During the novel, with one hour before the antimatter is due to destroy the Vatican, Maximilian Kohler claims to have information regarding the location of the antimatter, and reports to the Vatican to help. It then turns out that Kohler knew about the plans of the Camerlengo, and intended to unmask him. When he was confronted, he branded himself with the Illuminati diamond, claimed that Kohler was an Illuminatus and had him shot. During this time, Kohler has recorded the meeting on hidden camera.
Being carried outside to St Peter's Square due to his injuries, he suddenly awoke and jumped up, presenting the brand to the masses. Then he pretended to receive a heavenly message revealing the position of the antimatter, with only 30 minutes until its destruction, and it was down in St. Peter’s tomb.

He and Langdon used a helicopter to try to get the antimatter away. Carlo took the sole parachute and landed safely in the Vatican Gardens (without the knowledge of the media or the devout in St Peter's Square). He then climbed up to the Basilica and presented himself a perfect miracle to the cheering masses.

Character: Sam Evans
Fandom: Glee
Character Notes:
History:

Sam transferred from an all boys boarding school to William McKinley High School making him the new kid. While the Glee kids are singing, Sam is tapping his foot and later sings Every Rose Has Its Thorns in the shower in the boys’ locker room. Finn recruits him and he sings Billionaire with the Glee boys but doesn’t turn up to join because of his status.

He takes Finn’s spot as quarterback in the football team for a short time but he dislocates his shoulder in their first game of the season, giving Finn the position back. This is when he joins Glee Club and more than just the girls see his attractive features. Kurt asks him to be his duet partner but eventually dissolves the partnership after words from Finn.

It’s not long later that he gets slushied for the first time. Quinn sees this and offers to help clean him up. Afterwards he asks her to his duet partner and while they’re talking, Sam tries to kiss her but she refuses. But they do end up becoming partners and sing Lucky together, winning the competition and a dinner at Breadstix, which Sam pays for as Quinn calls it a first date, even though Mr Schuester had paid for it in advance.

Sam rehearses in the Glee Club’s rendition of Rocky Horror as Rocky before being replaced by Mr Schuester. During this time, both he and Finn worry about their bodies. He gives Finn some advice which almost leads to his suspension. He does eventually perform as Rocky in the Time Warp after the show was cancelled and Mr Schuester apologises for making him and Finn feel insecure.

Sam and Finn have a few more conversations in the locker room, mainly about girls and how they picked the only two girls who abstain from sex. Finn tells Sam about the mailman he almost killed and how that helps him when making out with Rachel. Sam quickly finds his own ‘mailman’ in thinking of Coach Beiste in compromising positions. This spreads around the Glee Club and eventually Mr Schuester has to come clean. Coach Beiste takes it personally and quits but comes back after the boys perform their mash up as an apology.

After finding out about Finn’s mum and Kurt’s dad getting married, Sam gets Quinn on her own and shows her his promise ring; promising to be faithful to her but never to push her and quite a lot of other things too. She says maybe, leaving him with the ring. He later defends Kurt against Dave Karofsky with the other Glee boys, except Finn, and receives a black eye for his troubles. This leads to his rise in popularity over Finn and Quinn calls his black eye hot.

After the wedding, Quinn tells Sam how proud of him she is because Finn’s actions were because of him. A few minutes later, she mentions she broke into his locker and is wearing his ring. As Quinn leaves, Sam jumps for joy but it later sad for Kurt leaving the group and the school.

In Sectionals, Sam sings a duet with Quinn of I’ve Had The Time Of My Life before the whole cast joins in. He also performs in Valerie and comes in joint first with the rest of the Glee Club and The Warblers. He also sings the Christmas songs with the Glee Club and is surprised when Artie manages to walk for Christmas.

[identity profile] blondetaps-venu.livejournal.com 2010-12-16 10:11 pm (UTC)(link)
Personality:

Sam seems to be a sweet boy with a dorky nerdy side to him. He’s dyslexic but he has a great sense of humour. He enjoys football and singing and knows the language Na’vi from the film Avatar. Just like most kids, he wants to be popular, he even gave Finn a lecture on how important it was to him, which is why he joins the football team and not glee club after his transfer. But once he’s committed himself to something, he sticks to it. When Finn tries to stop Sam singing with Kurt, Sam says he’s already given his word and it’s too important to go back on. Sam also attacks Dave Karofsky in the locker rooms as Karofsky was bullying Kurt, his friend.

He puts lemon juice in his hair and styles it to fit his attractive body which he is quite shallow about. He has a strict diet and exercise routine and admits to hating himself if he defers from that. People thought he was gay because of this. He’s also quite naïve and unsure about women, this may be because he went to an all boys boarding school. Whatever the reason why, he tends to go faster than he should with women and tries to kiss Quinn too early on. But after the fight with Karofsky, she calls his black eye hot.

First Person (entry type):

After my conversation with Finn, I wondered when I’d next get to use the idea. As it happened, I saw Quinn that evening and the making out was as awesome as usual. But then I got the feeling I usually got with her, but instead of stopping, I saw Beiste in some fishnets tights and that cooled me right down.

After that, the making out was even better because we weren’t stopping every five minutes to cool down. Her kisses just got better with time. I could have done it all night. I think we did do it all night.

I’ve got to say, this is so much better than my old school.

Third Person:

Sam slammed his locker shut and looked at the clock. It was five minutes to five. He sat down on the bench and sighed into his hands. He’d told Finn and the other Glee boys he’d sing again at the tryout but after the spectacle with Artie, he didn’t want to lose his spot. He enjoyed football as much as he enjoyed singing, except the former was cooler in high school than the latter and therefore it took priority. He felt bad for Finn, he really did, but he was the new kid. He couldn’t start off even further behind than he already was.

Standing, he gathered up his things and moved to leave the locker room. He’d just have to explain it to Finn tomorrow. He closed the door behind him, walking down the hall and out of the school, hoping he didn’t see anyone on the way so he could work on his explanation ready for the next day.

Being the new kid sucked.

Character: Zim
Fandom: Invader Zim
Character Notes:
History: Once upon a time Zim was created in an incubation cylinder in a birthing facility to a cold unfeeling robotic arm! He is an Irken, an alien race with the goal of total universal domination and a need for snacks. Other races in the universe fear the Irkens and regard them as bloodthirsty fiends, which may or may not be a fact since outside of their own super intelligence every one of them has a PAK, a super computer that links to the brain through an attachment in the spinal cord that allows them to survive on planets outside of their own and has been hinted at to program thought.

Superiority for the Irkens is determined by height. Since Zim is the shortest Irken alive (and emotionally unstable possibly due to a flaw in the PAK) , he is regarded by the Irken leaders, The Almighty Tallest, and the rest of the race as defective. His actions during Operation Impending Doom I almost destroyed the Irken homeworld and had gotten the previous Irken leader killed. He was banished to Foodcourtia, a planet with the sole purpose of snaking, where he had to serve food. (His PAK status since then states Food Service Drone instead of Invader.) He thought the banishment there was a vacation.

Unwilling to allow such a defective Irken to be put in charge of conquering a planet and carrying out plans for Operation Impending Doom II the Tallest trick him by telling him he’ll be on a “secret mission” on Earth. They gave him a robot assistant filled with garbage which displays bizarre behavior and sent him on his way.

By the amazement of The Almighty Tallest, Zim actually managed to arrive at Earth. Since his arrival on the planet he has enrolled in school in order to begin infiltration and constantly makes plans to conquer the planet—all of which fail sometimes due to the interference of Dib Membrane, the only person who seems to notice and care that he’s not just a kid with a bad green skin condition, but usually just because his plans are extremely flawed, irrational, and chaotic.

Zim || Invader Zim || Reserved 2/3?

[identity profile] chicken-dance.livejournal.com 2010-12-17 02:31 am (UTC)(link)
Personality: Zim is a danger to everyone around him. He’s destructive, narcissistic, and megalomaniacal—as one would expect from a crazy alien bent on conquering the planet. However, he is also a danger to himself and his own alien race.

He loves his race and is extremely loyal to the Almighty Tallest despite being one of their main forms of amusement and the laughing stock of the entire race. He strives to impress them in any way possible – and usually the most extreme way possible. He doesn’t realize every plan and act he does to impress them and take over Earth seems to end in failure. It’s possible he’s completely incapable of regarding himself as anything other than equal to the other Irkens due to his self-absorbed nature. He feels he’s completely superior to every member of the human race and that he’s brilliant, extremely skilled, and fully-capable of taking over Earth. If something goes wrong it’s not usual that he’ll claim he ment to do that.

Zim can easily be described as a schizophrenic with an extremely large ego. He’s irrational, accident-prone, easily angered, and extremely paranoid. Despite that he’s also extremely intelligent, capable of creating devices thought impossible, able to fool the humans effortlessly (except Dib), and is still one evil alien that can do something horrific.

Other:
+ Zim is a tiny green alien with a wormlike tongue and antennae on his head. His disguises are usually poorly put together but convincing to the people of Earth. Some disguises include simply colored contacts and a black wig, a bear suit, a fat lady, a Santa suit, and a hat and a beard that makes him look like an old homeless guy. His favorite is the wig and the contacts, which he uses to pass himself off as a student at school.
+ He’s extremely germophobic.
+ He’s allergic to a lot of Earth things including beans, meat, pizza, and water which makes his skin burn.
+ Grease gives him pimples like normal kids—except his pimples are hypnotic and have very charming names.

Character: Sokka
Fandom: Avatar: the Last Airbender [the cartoon plzkthx]
Character Notes:
History: When Sokka and his sister Katara were young, the Fire Nation attacked their village in the Southern Water Tribe. They were in search of the one remaining water bender rumored to be hiding there. The General took Sokka's mother and demanded to know who was the water bender, and her family would be spared. Knowing that her daughter, Katara, was indeed the last remaining water bender of the Southern Water Tribe, she lied and said it was her. He killed Sokka's mother and shortly thereafter Sokka's father led their tribe into battle against the fire nation. Sokka and Katara were raised by their Gran until the fateful day when they discovered the Avatar frozen in the ice.

From there on, he traveled with Aang and Katara as she helped the Avatar to master water-bending, while learning a thing or two herself. The trio (plus Aang's air bison & Momo) are constantly under attack from exiled Fire Prince Zuko, who must capture the Avatar in order to get back into his father, Fire Lord Ozai's good graces. In following the seasonal order in which Aang must learn the elements, the next Nation they visit is the Earth Kingdom. They also gain another member of their group there, Toph, who helps Aang master earth-bending.

One of Sokka's love interests, Yue, is from the Northern Water Tribe, where there are still water benders. She sacrifices her life on Earth to become the moon spirit after [Tui] was killed by Zhao (Zuko's Fire Nation rival). Though this devastates Sokka, he regroups and carries on.

In Book 3, he is reunited with his father, and Pakku, the water-bending master to Aang and Katara, marries their Gran. Soon, they will prepare to fight against Fire Lord Ozai, but without a master to train Aang fire-bending this goal seems hopeless. Until Zuko has a change of heart, and [finally] joins their cause. Sokka meets his current girlfriend, Suki, and they all prepare for the coming meteor with heavy hearts.

At last, Aang defeats Ozai, but he does so by taking away his fire-bending rather than killing him, again exhibiting an exceptional show of mercy that Sokka almost doesn't understand, but most certainly respects. Zuko defeats his sister and takes the crown that was rightfully his, restoring all to be [mostly] right with the world.

I'll be taking Sokka from post-canon. This will mean he's still two years younger than the other DDD Avatarians.

The man encourages and protects him; he was one of the first people in the Vatican who treated Alessandro with actual respect. Alessandro becomes attached quickly. Father Havel makes a choice to betray him however in an attempt to save his people. Without getting into too many details this betrayal amounts to nothing. His people were not saved through his efforts. Instead Alessandro’s older sister Caterina’s agents save the day. Father Havel is mortally injured by an agent of his older brother’s Francesco who was trying to use this incident to leave Alec to die and become Pope himself. This agent failed obviously leaving Havel to die instead. Alessandro finds Havel though and holds him in his arms as he dies, apologizing for not being the strong Pope Father Havel’s people needed. Havel responds by thanking him for helping him meet God again (he had lost faith seeing his people suffer but, had it renewed when he saw Alessandro did not hold the betrayal against him) and puts his faith in Alessandro. He tells him that one day his inner God will grant him power and dies. Alessandro resolves to try harder to become a good Pope in his memory.

• We next see Alessandro at his older sister’s Caterina’s trial. Since Father Havel was working directly under Caterina they tried to have her burnt at the stake and claim she was in league with him. This is despite the fact it was Caterina’s agents who rescued Alessandro. Alessandro intervenes with the help of Father Abel, Tres, and Hugue. They present evidence clearing Caterina of the charges before she is killed. Caterina was so touched by her little brother’s efforts that she kisses his forehead in front of everyone and leaves without bothering to answer anymore questions.

• The next time we see Alessandro is two to three years later in Istvan when Esther becomes a saint. Since the Trinity Blood cast has not yet reached this point I will not go into it in depth here.

Pope Alessandro 399th | Trinity Blood | Reserved 2/?

[identity profile] diointeriore.livejournal.com 2010-12-18 07:53 pm (UTC)(link)
Personality:

Alessandro is best described by the poetry given in the novels; he is an ‘awkward puppet' as they put it. He has trouble expressing himself to other people around. This is clear by his stammering, tendency to pass out when the spotlight is on him, and overall nervous behavior. Despite these short comings, he has a sincere desire to change himself since he met Valcav Havel. Much like the protagonist Esther who is also changed by a strong friend, this person changed him in their short time together that ended just as tragically. Alessandro does not possess the same sort of strength as Esther though (he is gentle as opposed to tough) so this change is slow and painstaking. Most would not even notice it is happening.

Alessandro is well aware of the fact that his weakness hurts others. It was his inability to do anything that lead partially to his friend's death to begin with. For that reason he holds no hatred for him or anyone else despite how they treat him (which as you can imagine is very poorly). He instead treats everyone with kindness and respect. Alessandro tries very hard to understand them. Naturally is very quick to forgive anyone because of these efforts to comprehend their motivations. It is those traits that make Alessandro a good Pope despite his youth and general inexperience. He has true faith in God, people, and his friend's final words.

Other:

• Alessandro often stammers or passes out due to nervousness.

• His speech pattern will almost always be inconsistent. The novels and the manga both change how he speaks every time he appears. In R.A.M 3 set two to three years before R.O.M they say he stammers to the point of being almost impossible to understand. When we see him in R.A.M 4 his stammer is barely there at all. In Mark of the Saint (R.O.M 4) it goes in and out according to how comfortable he is at the time.

• Alessandro resembles his older sister despite the huge difference in personality. His hair is light blond and curly like hers and he has the same stormy blue eyes. Thanks to the anime’s love of screwing up everything in the series everyone thinks he is brunetter and looks nothing like either of his siblings.

• Speaking of the anime for some reason the wiki article seems to think the anime was even remotely canon. Do not be surprised to find out there is no mention of Valcav and Alessandro knowing each other or mentions of the bond Esther and Alessandro share from both promising the people they lost they would become better. The anime pretty much dumbed down the entire series and took out the relationships they didn’t like. That is why Lilith only appears as a corpse and a child (and not Abel’s soulmate or anything) while Shahrazad does not appear at all. Ironically enough they do add in scenes with Alessandro and Esther bonding in different ways to meet the same goal.

• Alessandro is actually eighteen years old at this point in time, one year older than Esther Blanchett. The manga artist for some reason gives him the appearance of a twelve year old boy. Only the novel art and anime (they got one thing right!) portray that fact correctly.

Sugata Shindo (2/??)

[identity profile] agkelikos.livejournal.com 2010-12-18 10:59 pm (UTC)(link)
Character Notes:
History:
Sugata is the fifteen year old heir to a noble family on Southern Cross Island. He is a master of his family’s martial arts and trains regularly in his own dojo. Although he attends Southern Cross High School with the others he doesn’t live in the dorms, instead residing in his own mansion on the island alongside his friends and housemaids, Tiger and Jaguar. As is tradition for the Shindo family, Sugata is betrothed to a Maiden – the South Maiden, Wako. It is hinted heavily so far that while the two are very close friends and important to one another but do not love each other as an engaged couple normally would. However, they go along with the tradition regardless even if it costs their happiness.

He is popular at school and a valued member of the Night Flight drama club at the school, whose members know about the Glittering Crux organisation and the presently discovered secrets of the Cybodies – large doll-like machines that can be controlled through approvoising. Only those with a mark can apprivoise normally, but the Glittering Crux have developed special masks for those without them as well as a machine called the CyberCasket that allows drivers to link with their Cybodies. Currently Glittering Crux has managed to break one of the four seals attributed to the maidens of the islands and Cybodies can now move around in Zero Time – a dimension outside of normal time, which when activated, causes time in the real world to stop. Once all the seals are broken, Cybodies will be able to move in the real world, something that Sugata, Takuto, Wako and the others have sworn to stop for fear of the consequences. As the Glittering Crux fight to capture the maidens of the islands and break the four seals found in Zero Time, Sugata defends Wako from them, another reason why he is always by her side.

Five years ago on his birthday, Sugata was told of his own personal fate, leading him to hate the day and to stop celebrating it. He was born with a mark on his chest, hence why he was named ‘Sugata’ – an honour only given to those with the mark. Sugata has the ability to approvoise the most powerful Cybody in the world known as Samekh, the King Cybody. However, all drivers who have done this in the past and used Samekh’s first phase power, a hugely powerful beam known as The King’s Pillar, have fallen asleep and never woken up. He is also prohibited from leaving the island due to his dangerous nature. Tiger and Jaguar have been ordered to kill him should he ever attempt to leave the island, and as such they are his guards as well as his maids.

Partway through the series, Sugata does activate the King’s Pillar and falls asleep but wakes up sometime later. He is the first to recover in this way. This has made him very valuable to the Glittering Crux but also presents him as a threat for as long as he stays on Takuto’s side. A member of the Glittering Crux known as Scarlet Kiss attempted to win him over to their side, kissing him in an attempt to control him and Samekh’s power too. However his power was too much for her Cybody and Sugata managed to take control instead, eventually losing the battle whilst sparring with Takuto and Tauburn.

It is shown that Sugata was close friends with Keito Nichi as well as Wako as a child. The three put up a totem pole on the beach that was one day swept away in a typhoon. Although Keito is now with Glittering Crux and very closed off from those around her, there does still seem to be something between her and Sugata, friendship or otherwise.

Re: Simon - Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann 2/5?

[personal profile] screwloose 2010-12-18 11:15 pm (UTC)(link)
History:
Simon begins the story as one of the most skilled diggers in Giha Village. As his village is many hundreds of feet below the ground, and they are pretty much pathologically terrified of ever seeking the surface (most of them believing that the surface doesn't exist) it's very important to the health of the village that new tunnels be dug to accommodate their growing population. Despite the importance of digging, Simon is ridiculed and looked down upon as dirty, because he spends nearly all of his time digging and is basically a shrimpy little smelly wimp who all but pisses himself any time there's an earthquake.

It doesn't help that Simon's best friend is Kamina, who once visited the surface and is determined to get back there one day, and Kamina has a tendency to get Simon and the rest of their little gang, Team Gurren, into trouble with the leader of the village.

One day Simon finds a little glowing screw (called the Core Digger) in the ground, and is delighted by the treasure. Soon after that, he finds an enormous head. Shit gets weird after that, as an enormous metal monster accidentally winds up crashing through the ceiling of the village and attacks them. A woman from the surface, Yoko, is attacking the monster, and Kamina and Simon wind up trying to help. Simon leads Yoko and Kamina to the head he found underground, and learns that the glowing screw thing works as an ignition key. Somehow they not only defeat the monster, but reach the surface, and leave the dark horrible village far behind.

Simon, Yoko and Kamina travel for a while, discovering that humans do in fact live on the surface, but not very many. The metal monster is actually a kind of mobile suit called a Ganmen, which is piloted by beastmen, who hate all humans and claim the surface for themselves alone. Kamina manages to take one of the ganmen for himself, and calls it Gurren, while Simon's tiny head thingy is called Lagann, and they soon discover that the two mobile suits can combine together, forming a single powerful suit that Simon and Kamina pilot together.

They decide to take the fight to the beastmen. By this point, Simon has realized that the earthquake that killed his parents and caused his phobia was actually ganmen walking around up above, so basically beastmen killed his parents. Also they're just generally being dicks and need to stop attacking humans all the time. During a major battle with one of the Generals of the Spiral King (the beastman leader) Kamina is fatally injured. The death of Simon's best friend, the only person who could pull Simon out of his low self-esteem and get him to fight, plunges Simon into a terrible depression. Simon blames himself for Kamina's death and he is reasonably boring and grows mushrooms in a corner for a few episodes. He also digs holes in the walls of his cabin on the Dai-Gurren, and makes many creepy statues of Kamina.

Thankfully, Simon meets Nia, a girl he found in a kind of cryogenic sleep container, who claims to be the daughter of the Spiral King. Nia manages to pull him out of his depression, and he realizes that even though he doesn't have Kamina to believe in him, he is capable of believing in himself. Together with the rest of the little band of humans they'd managed to accumulate by that time, they fight through the rest of the Generals and ultimately kill the Spiral King himself. The Spiral King has a terrible warning for them upon his death, however - he claims that they have made a terrible mistake, and that everything he did to oppress the humans was for their ultimate survival. He warns them not to allow the human surface population to exceed 1 million people, or disaster will befall the human race.

History:
Born in 1980 in Boston, had a shitty home life. Developed an imaginary friend. Has postcog dreams about a Slayer from Greece, is a general rebel who gets suspended a lot. She gets sent to a foster home where she slays her first vamp. When she finds out her mom's gone missing with her sleazebag boyfriend, she has a baleout on the boyfriend and gets sent to a psychiatric facility for assault.

Diana Dormer, Faith's first of many watchers, has her released from Belmont Psychiatric into her custody. She begins training and is activated a full-blown Slayer-comma-the when Kendra Young, Buffy's replacement, is killed. Before leaving Boston, Faith gets possessed by Artemia, the ancient greek Slayer, and Dormer helps her oust the bitch before getting kidnapped by Kakistos, a super powerful demon who winds up killing Faith's watcher and injuring Faith.

Chased out of Boston by Kakisto and wholly Watcher-less, Faith shows up in Sunnydale ready to kick some demon ass around the Hellmouth, only to find that Buffy is the Slayer in town. Buffy helps her kick Kakisto's ass when he chases her int town, but the two still don't get along because Buffy, recently back from a year absence herself, doesn't even feel welcome in her own group of friends and doesn't like Faith trying to move in.

Gwendolyn Post shows up claiming to be assigned to be Faith's new Watcher and turns her against the Scoobies and tries to get her to kill Angel so she can steal some freaky monster glove. In the end, Buffy and Faith team up to take Post out, but not before Faith's been further alienated from the Scoobies and had those trust issues of hers worsened.

Annnnnd leaving off there, because I'm planning to play her through canon from around that point. :3

[identity profile] gottabookemall.livejournal.com 2010-12-19 11:56 pm (UTC)(link)
History:

No details are known of Noah’s personal life or history prior to his introduction into the story. All that is known is that Noah at some point got his hands on a legendary book, The Book of Eibon.

Created by Eibon, one of the Eight Powerful Warriors, a group who protected the world eight hundred years before the series began, the book represented a great deal of power as it contains an entire dimension of its own. Noah began using it to draw items and beings into a collection, deciding to collect everything that he valued and then, once that was complete, destroy the rest, essentially making him the ruler of the world. With this ambition to ‘become everything’, he set out to manipulate events to reach this goal. He at some point either modified or created the boy named Gopher, granting him a superhuman magical body, and now uses Gopher as a willing slave. He has gathered all sorts of creatures and objects into his collection, and has even added an as yet unnamed being who was also one of the Eight Powerful Warriors to the book.

Taking on the name Eibon for himself in order to capitalise on the ‘brand recognition’, he somehow became involved in the machinations of the organization known as Arachnophobia, a group lead by the witch Arachne with the goal to find and steal the power of the Kishin (an obscenely powerful Demon God of Madness). He was apparently trusted by Arcahne, and he worked together with her to complete her transformation from a being of flesh and blood, instead into a being of pure madness energy. Why exactly he allied with her is unknown (although likely it was to learn the location of the Kishin), but when he is introduced in the story he has possibly already betrayed her. When first seen, he has ordered the guards of Arcahne to leave their posts, claiming that she no longer has any need of them. However, since this was during a siege of Arachne’s base in which she is the target this left her wide open to a direct assault.

Because of this, Arachne’s most trusted servant, a vampire named Mosquito declared that Noah was up to something, revealing that he was aware that Noah was not the true Eibon. Explaining that he found the name Eibon charming, and going on a rant about the power the book gave him, he killed Mosquito, telling the vampire that his real name was Noah just beforehand. This entire exchange was seen by Death the Kid, whom Noah immediately captured and added to his collection, taking the powerful magical artefact known as ‘Brew’ from him at the same time. Now in possession of the two great artefacts of Eibon, Noah left the castle and simply allowed the siege to continue, apparently not caring about the defeat of Arcahne.

When next seen, he has formed a group consisting of himself, Gopher, Justin Law (and his clown) and Giriko, and apparently lives in a church of some kind. He spends his time interrogating Kid and sending his underlings out to attempt to assassinate Maka Albarn and take her soul. Justin never gets to his target, and Gopher fails-upon returning, Noah is not upset about the failure, but is angered by Gopher revealing details about himself to Maka. During down time, he creates a magical belt that boosts magical power, but wary of it, he gives it to Gopher to test by destroying a village-it explodes, and Noah is relieved he didn’t test it himself. When Gopher takes out his frustrations by torturing Kid, Noah becomes angry at the damage to his ‘possession’, and sends Kid to the furthest depths of the Book of Eibon.

From there, he notices when the Shibusen members enter The Book of Eibon, and co-ordinates Giriko towards some targets. When other Shibusen agents assault his church, he easily overpowers them with the aid of Justin, but before he can finish them off, Kid and Black ☆Star escape the book, bringing with them the rest of the original team. What follows is a short fight, ending with Noah probably dying in a giant laser blast from Kid.

Character: Gopher
Fandom: Soul Eater
Character Notes:
History: The manga tells the readers very little about Gopher's background - with only one concrete fact: He was given a body by Noah. Who or what he was before that is a complete mystery.

As far as the plot goes... Gopher is a relatively new character introduced in Chapter 62, "Formation", where he is shown to be the first member of Noah's five-man group. When the newly-converted Justin Law fails at his execution attempt of Maka, Gopher proposes that he go after her next - to which Noah agrees.

A short while later, we see Gopher physically assaulting Kid in order to discipline him for rearranging Noah's book. The chapter afterward, he initiates a battle with Maka and Soul, inevitably loses because she's the main character, and teleports back to Noah via a page from the Book of Eibon. He apologizes profusely in front of his master only to be rebuked and addressed as a ‘tool’ and ‘not to forget his place’. Mortified and resentful, Gopher ends up turning his anger on the captured Kid and ruthlessly beats him again.

The next time Gopher makes an appearance is when Noah presents him with a magical belt that supposedly amplifies the user's power by 10%. Gopher is overjoyed to have another chance to prove himself to Noah - except it malfunctions and blows up on him mid-attack. Gopher considers this a mistake on his part (although in reality, Noah foresaw this happening, and thus why he didn't test it on himself) and blames his failure on Maka. Not that Maka has anything to do with his failure, but Gopher has serious issues.

Anyway, Gopher starts making a daily hobby out of beating Kid. One day, Gopher gets so pissed off that the shinigami isn’t reacting to his
beatings that he makes a face so absurd that Kid notices his lips are asymmetrical and he cracks. Realizing emo cowboy goth Jesus is as crazy as he is, Gopher gleefully takes advantage of Kid’s OCD and begins to torment the right side of his body, but not the left. A torn shirt sleeve and an array of marker scribbles later, and Noah suddenly enters the scene. Not entirely pleased that one of his most precious collections has been doodled upon, Noah sucks OCD McGee back into the Book of Eibon and orders Gopher to prepare some tea as punishment.

The readers are left to assume that Gopher is just chilling in the church and doing nothing remotely useful as we only see two single-panel cameos of the boy over the next several chapters; once when Noah orders him to alert Giriko, and the other where he think-bubbles "Noah-sama" whilst staring ahead at nothing.

When the Shibukids in nappies face off with Noah, Gopher leaps in and tries to protect Noah from one of Death the Kid’s attacks. This, like everything else he has ever done, ends with failure. He gets knocked out of the scene with a single blow from Kid and doesn’t recover until, well, Noah is dead. Getting up from the bushes, he sees his master blown into tiny Noah-chunks and then sees his master’s precious book in flames. Gopher manages to grab the real Book of Eibon before Maka reaches it, swears his eternal vengeance while making funny faces at the protagonist, and jets off into the sky. And even though Soul can turn into a scythe with wings, Death the Kid has a magical flying skateboard, and Black Star can launch his wavelength up to a million feet—nobody feels the need to chase after Gopher who may or may not have Book of Eibon. And the BREW.

And so the arc ends.

[identity profile] wafflewood.livejournal.com 2010-12-20 04:12 am (UTC)(link)
Personality: To sum up Gopher's personality in one word: crazy. Once you think you've reached the bottom of his craziness, there's a crazy underground garage. He is positively obsessed with Noah to the point where it is not only unhealthy, but it defines his existence and basically makes up his entire character. His personality is primarily composed of negative emotions—disgust, jealousy, paranoia, resentment, anger, and sadism - which are all connected to Noah in one way or the other. The only time Gopher is truly seen smiling in happiness is when Noah-sama presents him with the heresy belt, which Gopher mistakenly believes was forged just for him.

Gopher is initially presented as this mysterious boy who was a loyal servant of Noah, dedicated yet capable of self-control, and spoke in a sophisticated manner. However, it only takes a few chapters before his reveals his true self—a massive, writhing pile of irrational envy, loathing, and fanboyism. He cracks halfway through his fight with Maka, revealing his jealousy in Noah's interest towards Maka and expressing his own desire to also be 'collected' by Noah. His jealousy spirals out of control as the fight continues, and he's spewing curses and insults by the end.

From there on afterward, Gopher demonstrates an almost bipolar personality—one minute he's a calmly collected, almost bored manservant with an air of apathy and distaste for those around him—the next, he's screaming like a crazed lunatic with his eyes bulging from his head. He's shown to be extremely aggressive and violent at times, and has a tendency to bite his upper lip when he's enraged, and the absurd triangle shape his mouth forms has been the butt of many jokes both in canon and the fandom. Needless to say, Gopher is a very easy person to upset if you know which button to press—the one that says "Noah" on it.

Obsession and paranoia go hand in hand, and Gopher's psychosis may well be on par with Death the Kid's obsessive-compulsive disorder and Black Star's delusions of grandeur. He views everybody as a rival for Noah's affection, as shown in his interactions with both Maka and Kid. In addition, he's extremely overprotective of Noah, absolutely taking any insult towards his master—no matter how small or large—as a personal affront. Gopher believes his undying loyalty to be a desirable trait (even when Noah rebukes him for it) and sees it as one of the many reasons why he is the absolute perfect servant for his master and why he "is the only one who can satisfy Noah-sama".

Following the trend in his comrades—Justin, who is a sexist, and Giriko, who practices his own brand of male chauvinism—Gopher is also a slight, slight misogynist. This could stem from the fact he probably views women as bigger rivals than men for Noah. Women-hating runs in the team, I suppose.

Although the readers are introduced to him as being "evil", Gopher hasn't exactly done anything "evil" even to the end of the arc… he’s just been… crazy.

Character: Wesley Wyndam-Pryce
Fandom: Buffy the Vampire Slayer/Angel the Series
Character Notes:
History:
Not much is known about Wesley's childhood, outside of it being unhappy and ridden with daddy issues. His whole life was laid out for him for a very young age, as both his father and grandfather were Watchers (What is a Watcher? Generally, weird British guys who follow the chosen vampire slayer of the generation around to give exposition.) and … decided for him that he would be, too. He attended an all-boys preparatory school run by the Watcher's council, where he made Head Boy. Almost immediately after finishing Watcher grad school, he was shipped off to replace Rupert Giles as Watcher to Buffy Summers and Faith Lehane.

While he knows a lot about slaying and ~the forces of darkness~ in theory, he's actually … terribly incompetent. When he first arrived, he bragged about handling two vampires "under controlled circumstances." Real life kind of kicked his ass when he was forced into a real combat situation and Giles had to save him from being eaten by vampires. He's very straight laced and by the book in his instruction to Buffy and Faith, succeeding in making both of them dislike him. Giles even encourages them to ignore his counsel.

Because of his tight-ass nature, the scoobies usually try to keep him as far out of the loop as they possibly can. The only person who shows any kind of interest in him is Cordelia. They spend a lot of time flirting with each other, culminating in him "chaperoning" at the high school prom just to be there so he can dance with her. A few days later they kiss and realize there isn't actually any kind of chemistry between them.

As a result of them not sharing anything with him, Wesley had to eavesdrop to find out that Faith had killed the deputy mayor-- mistaking him for a vampire, and then showing no remorse for doing so-- and was beginning to break away from the scoobies and go rogue. Angel had taken Faith to his home and tried to reason with her, but Wesley drove his attempt into the ground by breaking in with a special ops team sent by the Watcher's Council to arrest her. This only makes Faith's downward spiral worse, and drives her into the arms (in a surrogate fatherly way) of the Mayor, the season's big bad.

When the Mayor tried to ascend to demonhood, he sent Faith in to distract Buffy by poisoning Angel and send him on the path to a long, slow death. Wesley tries to convince the Council to intervene and help Angel, but they refuse. This disgusts Buffy so much that she severs all ties with the Council completely, becoming a renegade. Even though this technically frees him of any obligations to help, he fights alongside the Mayor alongside them. Too bad he still fails at field combat and gets taken out almost immediately. He's last seen being carried off in an ambulance, and was presumably immediately fired by the Council after showing such utter incompetence in being able to lead both Faith and Buffy.

Character Notes:
History:
Cordelia was the queen bee of Sunnydale High. She ruled the school with a razorsharp wit and designer shoes. And then there was this new girl, Buffy, and with Buffy came a lot of weird stuff at the school. At first, Cordelia shakes it off and tries to ignore it but as it continues, she realizes there are vampires, demons, and things that go bump in the night in Sunnydale. So she decides to help Buffy, if only to keep herself safe at first.

As she worked with the group, she eventually started fooling around with Xander Harris. They snuck around a lot at first because they were both ashamed of their relationship, but eventually she gets tired of always coming second to Buffy and Willow. She wants more. So then she and Xander come out about their relationship. Cordelia’s friends all begin to shun her, and she breaks up with him, thinking her social standing was more important. But she realizes it wasn’t. So she takes back control and starts dating Xander again, making the other girls just deal with it.

As time goes on, she develops real feelings for Xander. She decorates her locker with pictures of him and seems to really soften as a person. Until she catches him kissing another girl. And not just anyone, but Willow. She breaks up with him after that and begins to ice out the Scoobies. Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned, but Cordelia’s attempts to become Queen C of the school again don’t work. Her friends ridicule her for being cheated on by Xander of all people. Though she still helps out Buffy and the gang, she feels isolated because it feels like everyone else has taken Xander’s side. It’s during this time that she grows attracted to Wesley Wyndam Price, Faith’s Watcher.

During this time, Cordelia is accepted to several top schools, but what comes out later is that she can’t go to any of them. Why? Her family went completely bankrupt because her father had cheated on his taxes. She can’t even afford the prom dress she wanted. She went from the girl who had everything to the girl who had nothing, and it’s hard for her to deal with. Xander finds out about it and buys her the prom dress, which mends their friendship. She eventually finally kisses Wesley, but even though she was attracted to him, their attempts to do anything were awkward at best.

After high school she moves to L.A. to become an actress. It’s there where she meets up with Angel and decides she’s going to work for him, to make his business a profitable one. Though she rejects Doyle’s interest in her at first because he seems beneath her, as they get to know one another she grows feelings for him, and respect. Right before he dies he reveals he was a demon and kisses her, passing on his visions to her. Though she’s originally angry at him for passing on this gift that causes her pain, she grows to appreciate it.

The really turning point for Cordelia however, is at the end of season one, when all of the suffering of Los Angeles is released into her head thanks to the Vocah demon. She nearly goes insane from it. But once Wesley releases her from the visions, she's brought back to her regular self, but she sees things more clearly.

She sees that there are a lot of people out there who needs to be helped, and for the first time becomes really involved in the mission. Before that, it was something she just kind of did while trying to get her acting career going, but now it was something she was personally invested in. Not only that, but Wesley and Angel had become like her family, closer than she had ever been to anyone before. This was when she really starts to try to be a better person, but the "old" Cordelia still tends to come out from time to time.

Luckily for her, her friends seem to like them both.

Personality:
Cordelia Chase is above everything else confident. She thinks very highly of herself, she always has and she always will. She may doubt things in life, but one thing she won't doubt is her worth. The few times she has have been very hard on her, and often results in cold grudges (like when Xander cheated on her with Willow, and then acted like he did nothing wrong, this may be the prime example of her behavior when her sense of self has been shattered.)

When she was younger she was a very typical high school queen. She was self-absorbed and only cared about herself. But as time went on and she became more aware of what was really going on in Sunnydale, she also became more willing, though still very reluctant to help. Her relationship with Xander Harris, and how it falls apart ends up humbling greatly, as does her family losing everything. She no longer has the world at her fingertips, but she finds a way to come above it, and doesn't let it knock her down. But it does help her to not look down on other people like the way she always used to. She's still pretty judgmental at this point, but she's definitely her stepping in the right direction.

Her relationship with Xander and the fact that he cheats on her (and with Willow, someone she sees as beneath her) is important because despite herself, she had really fallen for Xander. And she's used to getting whatever she wants, and it becomes very clear by his callous behavior after they break up that he never cared about her the way she did about him. She's not used to rejection.

But the really turning point in Cordy's personality is when she comes to live in Los Angeles. She helps Angel turn his work into a business, and befriends both him and a demon named Doyle. She dislikes Doyle at first, dismissing him and thinking he's a loser, but as she gets closer to him, she realizes there's a lot more to him. She begins to consider a relationship with him despite the fact that he's part demon. This is particularly important because before this she had been very prejudice against all demons, considering them to be evil and nothing else. Her friendship and almost romance with Doyle helps expand her world view, much like her relationship with Xander did, but on a much larger scale.

When Doyle dies and passes his visions onto her, she's frightened and scared at first. They're painful, and she doesn't want the responsibility that comes along with them. But she soon realizes just how many people in the world are suffering, and she becomes determined to help them. Despite the fact that the visions hurt her, she refuses to give them up, though she gets several opportunities to do so. She knows that they make her who she is, a hero. And even when she knew they might kill her, she knew if she accepted Skip's offer to live in a world where she never got them, her friends, and specifically Angel, would suffer greatly, and she couldn't do that for them. So instead, she insisted on being turned into a half demon, despite having previously been judgmental against demons, so she could help her friends and not die.

Another big aspect of Cordelia's personality is that she says what she's thinking more often than not. Being tactful is not a skill she uses often. She doesn't believe in beating around the bush or sugar coating things. She says what she means and she means what she says. Even you're a friend or loved one, she's not afraid of telling you you're wrong. She's honest to a fault.
