Character: Fenrir
Fandom: Norse Mythology
Character Notes:
History:

Fenrir is the oldest of three children born to Loki and Angrboða and probably the least popular as far as the gods are concerned. The three of them were prophecied to cause all sorts of trouble when Ragnarok rolled around, and Fenrir was fated to kill Odin himself.
Needless to say, the gods didn't exactly want the three of them around. When they found out about the prophecy, they summoned the siblings from Jotunheimr. Odin cast Hel into Niflheim to rule over the dead, and their brother Jörmungandr (the midgard serpent) was thrown into the seas around all lands.

Fenrir, on the other hand, was raised amongst the gods, quite possibly in an attempt to keep your friends close but your enemies closer. None of them were brave enough to come near him, only Týr would bring him food. He was isolated and lonely, and quickly grew used to his own company. He was also quickly growing in size, and the bigger he got, the more the gods worried. Eventually, they decided to bind him to keep him out of trouble.

Twice they tried, with fetters they called Leyding and Dromi, telling Fenrir to test his strength against them, and that he would become famous if he broke them, the usual godly trickery. Of course, he was strong, and he did break them, though all he seemed to earn for his troubles was another attempt at binding him.

The third time, they had the bindings made with six magical ingredients by dwarfs. This time it was named Gleipnir and had the appearance of a ribbon, but was far stronger than either of the previous fetters. They took Fenrir to the island of Lyngvi (which means "a place overgrown with heather") and showed him that they couldn't tear gleipnir, but said that he was so strong, surely he could do it.

Fenrir pointed out that he wasn't exactly going to get any fame from tearing something so flimsy-looking, and if it was made with magic he wouldn't be able to tear it and he wasn't about to let them bind him with it.

The gods told him that if he couldn't tear it, he would no longer be a threat to them and they'd free him, but Fenrir didn't believe that for a second - he asked for a little insurance. He would let them bind him with gleipnir, as long as one of them placed their hand in his mouth as a sign of good faith. Again it was only Týr brave enough to do it, and he allowed himself to be bound.

Every attempt Fenrir made to remove the fetter only made it hold him firmer, every kick tightened the bounds. As he struggled, the gods laughed - angry at their deception and their mocking, Fenrir became enraged and bit off Týr's hand.

Once they were sure that gleipnir would hold him, they tied it to a stone, anchored deeply into the ground of the island, and left him there to remain enchained until Ragnarok.

Personality:

Fenrir is a lot more complicated than he first appears, at first glance he's quiet, sullen and quick to anger. He also probably seems a little dense, not exactly a deep thinker, way more brains than brawn.

Once people get to know him, which is a rare occurance as he's prone to pushing them away and keeping his distance, they might come to realise that there is a lot lurking beneath the surface.
He's angry and sullen because his future is decided for him, because he is destined to do something he doesn't want to do, and feels like his entire character is decided based on that one action. He feels he's expected to be snappy, to be bad, and that he can't get away from that image - it doesn't help that he has a very short fuse and gets angry easily.

He thinks more philosophically than people might think, but rarely voices what's really going on inside his head, prefering to keep his own counsel. He doesn't like change, or things that he doesn't instantly understand, so new places take him a while to adjust to.

It's rare to see him smiling or playful, he's often very serious even when doing something he enjoys, and he's definitely more the lone wolf type than much of a pack animal. He's untrusting, he's had little reason to trust most of the people he's encountered in the past, so he isn't inclined to start now.

That all said, though he distances himself from people and mistrusts them, deep down he is genuinely lonely. He longs for someone that he feels he can trust, he's just too scared to take the leap and let anybody in.

Other: Fenrir is technically a wolf, and while most of the time he'll remain that way, I do have a humanised PB for him and if he's physically mingling with other people I'd like to be able to make use of that. His father is a shapeshifter so it's a logical possibility that he's inherited that, as long as that's ok with the mods.
Though a worldhopper would have to come and free him in order for him to leave the island.

First Person (entry type):

(this would probably be a private entry, as he says, he's not very chatty)

I don't talk much, more my dad's thing. Talking never does anything for me anyway.
Guess I don't have much choice in this situation, this seems designed to make people have to say more than they want to, can't just give a look or a gesture, need all the words to explain it instead. I don't really like that, but this is my only contact with anything that isn't on this one tiny island, so I can't just turn my back on it

Instead I'll say what my face should be saying for me. I'm not happy, and there's not a lot I can do about it. Nowhere else for me to go, not until the end of the world.

I don't even like heather.

Third Person:

Fenrir paced restlessly, about the only exercise that his bonds allowed him, and even that was barely around the whole of the island. He hated the way his thoughts went round in circles here, it was so hard to find a fresh perspective on an idea when you were looking at the same view all day, every day. Day, night, weather... it barely changed anything.

He'd thought about a lot of things, what else did he have time for? The gods thought of him as nothing more than a nuisance, the thing that would kill Odin, he wondered if they thought him capable of anything philosophical, but anybody would be after that long alone, whether they'd been previously inclined to or not.

Now, though... now he had an option for something more, for contact, for a sort of company, and he longed for it, part of him, but that was where his indecision came from. It caused him concern, as well, what had company done for him in the past? Had being around the gods done him any good? They had feared him and mocked him and eventually bound him alone in this place, perhaps he should simply stay here. Did that mean everybody would be like the gods?

He stopped his pacing abruptly and flopped to the ground, growling at himself. It was a ridiculous argument and he'd been over it more times than he cared to count. What could these people do? Exile him again? What fate was worse than the one he already suffered? On the other hand, their company could be... well it could be a good thing for him. It could make things, dare he think it, better.

Character: Quatre Raberba Winner
Fandom: Mobile Suit Gundam Wing
Character Notes:

History:
» Mobile Suit Gundam Wing: Episode Zero
Episode Zero is a prequel manga that takes place at various points before the series and gives a bit more information on the backgrounds of the main characters. At the start of Quatre's chapter, we see a much different person from the sweet, good-natured pilot in the series. He's resentful and hates himself, feeling that he's a pawn that can easily be replaced because of the way he was born.

When space colonies were first developed, the harsh conditions of space led to reproductive abnormalities, so only artificial reproduction via test tubes was permitted. Fortunately, by AC 100 (100 years "After Colony" development), most of the issues were overcome, and natural childbirth was allowed again. The Winner family had been in space from the very beginning, however, which led to a predisposition to complications. As a result, 29 of Zayeed's children--all daughters--were test tube babies. The thirtieth child, Quatre, was the first and only one who was born naturally, but it was at the cost of his mother Quatrine's life. Quatre was never told this, though, believing himself to be one more obedient tool created for the sole benefit of the Winner Corporation. His purpose was to be an heir and nothing more.

Fast forward thirteen years. Feeling worthless, Quatre decided to run away to Earth. During the trip, the Winner shuttle was hijacked by the Maganac Corps, a forty-man army of mobile suit pilots. They took the shuttle hostage in an attempt to free the workers on the MO-III satellite, where they were being held without proper pay. When they contacted Zayeed Winner and explained their cause, Zayeed supported them and granted access to any of the Winner resources they might find on the satellite. He then asked to speak to Quatre, whom he was surprised to see on the shuttle. It prompted an outburst from Quatre, who explained that running away to Earth was his way of showing his father that he wasn't just a tool for the Winner family and that he could act and think for himself. Unimpressed with this reaction, Rashid, the head of the Maganac, smacked Quatre across the face and told him to have some pride in himself. It turned out that Rashid and the rest of the Maganac Corps were test tube babies as well; the fact that Quatre thought of himself as a mere creation because of the way he was born was an insult to them. "No matter what your circumstances, once you've been given the gift of life, you must live a life you can be proud of. That's the way of the Maganac."

This philosophy awakened something in Quatre. From that point, he began to change, discovering the compassionate soul he truly possessed. It started with his discovery of a traitor among the Maganac. Yuda was a double-spy for the Alliance (a coalition of most of Earth's nations, which exercised oppressive control over the space colonies) and notified them of the Maganac's coordinates. This resulted in an unexpected attack. When Rashid wondered how they'd been found so quickly, Quatre informed them of Yuda's betrayal and led the man, bound by ropes, to stand before the Maganac. Unfortunately, the ropes weren't tied very well; Yuda escaped and grabbed another man's gun, firing a shot at Rashid. Quatre attempted to intervene by jumping in front of the bullet, but it went through his shoulder and hit Rashid, anyway.

With their captain incapacitated, the Maganac set out to battle the Alliance on their own. Surprisingly, Quatre insisted that he help, wanting a chance to prove that he was useful so that he could be proud of himself. Although they were hesitant at first, Rashid told them to give Quatre his goggles and to let him pilot his mobile suit.

It turned out Quatre was a natural born pilot and strategist. He not only earned the respect of the Maganac but also their undying loyalty, as well as a place in their family. Rashid asked Quatre to return to Earth with them, but Quatre declined, promising to find them once he became stronger. He returned to the L4 colony in the company of Instructor H, an MO-III scientist he'd met during the liberation. Unbeknownst to Quatre, however, Instructor H was one of five scientists who had worked on the prototype Gundam Tallgeese, which leads us closer to the main plot of Gundam Wing.

Becoming disgruntled by the Alliance's control over the colonies, the scientists left the Tallgeese project and returned to their own colonies, where they proceeded to independently build their own Gundams in secrecy, preparing to retaliate against OZ, the force behind the Alliance. The plan was known as Operation Meteor. It was a project created by a man named Dekim Barton, and it called for launching a colony into Earth, causing mass murder on a global scale. Once the damage was done, five Gundams would be sent down to assimilate the planet, allowing the Barton family to assume control. The scientists disagreed with most of the plan; instead, they told their pilots (whom they'd hand-picked themselves) to go to Earth and attack only OZ bases.

Quatre was one of these pilots. Because of the strength and resolve he displayed during the MO-III liberation, he was chosen by Instructor H to pilot Sandrock. In AC 195, Operation Meteor began, and Quatre was reunited with the Maganac.

» Mobile Suit Gundam Wing
The series begins with Operation Meteor. Quatre and the other four Gundam pilots were independently sent to Earth without knowledge of each other, with orders to destroy OZ military bases. Quatre landed in the deserts of the Middle East, where he was then reunited with the Maganac Corps. There we learned that Quatre asks his enemies to surrender before he battles them, giving them a chance to keep their lives. Unfortunately, his enemies didn't listen, as they often don't; he was able to tear them down easily with Sandrock, obviously regretful of doing so.

During a common mission at the Corsica base, he ran into fellow Gundam pilot Trowa Barton, who didn't hesitate to attack Sandrock once all of the OZ mobile suits had been destroyed. Noticing the similarities between their Gundams, as well as the fact they appeared to be on the same mission, Quatre insisted that they stop fighting. The battle ceased, and Trowa took brief refuge at the Maganac base, where his Gundam, Heavyarms, was repaired at Quatre's request.

After striking up a friendship of sorts, the two parted ways, not meeting again until they were both en route to California for yet another shared mission, this time at New Edwards Base. Although Trowa was hesitant to form a partnership, they ended up cooperating during the attack. It was there that they also met Gundam pilots Heero Yuy and Duo Maxwell, and the four of them seemingly completed their mission when Heero destroyed a shuttle that was supposedly carrying OZ officials. However, when the fifth pilot, Chang Wufei, made an appearance, he notified them that they'd all been duped by OZ leader Treize Khushrenada, and the shuttle had actually been carrying Alliance pacifists. On that same day, OZ launched Operation Daybreak, a world-wide coup d'etat that would overthrow the Alliance and put OZ in control. Quatre aided Heero in deactivating the missiles that would have been used to carry out the plan, before all of the pilots parted ways once more.

Later, Quatre was admonished by Rashid for going into a mission by himself, but Quatre explained that he'd met up with four other Gundam pilots and knew they were on his side. When asked how he could be sure, he explained that his "space heart" told him so. This appears to be some type of psychic/empathic ability, although it's never expanded upon, despite being mentioned a few more times in the series, leaving its true nature open to interpretation.

Several weeks passed. The Gundam pilots once again met when they were sent on a mission to destroy Taurus mobile suits that were being transported to a Siberian base. Everything seemed to be going well, until OZ colonel Lady Une threatened a satellite missile attack on the colonies if the pilots didn't surrender and hand over their mobile suits. Quatre's space heart again came into play when Heero, in lieu of surrendering, chose to self-detonate his Gundam. He supposedly died, which seemingly caused Quatre a great deal of physical and emotional pain.

Fleeing the scene with Maganac Corps, Quatre soon came into contact with Duo, and the two of them headed to the Maganac's hometown in the Middle East, where they lay low for a while. Unfortunately, OZ was quick to track them down, and they were forced to leave in order to save the village, with the Maganac covering their retreat.

It was over a month later that OZ began liberating the colonies from the Alliance's control, causing the Gundams to fall out of the colonies' favor. Even so, it was decided that the pilots (including Heero, who had survived his Gundam's detonation and spent a month in a coma) would head back to space in order to stop OZ's plan, which would leave the organization in control of both the Earth Sphere and the colonies. Met with heavy resistance from the armed forces, Quatre, Duo, and Wufei fought side by side at one space port, while Trowa and Heero fought at another. Unfortunately, things went from bad to worse, and Quatre came to the conclusion that he must self-destruct in order for Duo and Wufei to safely make it to space. Yet, as Sandrock's self-destruct mode was activated, Quatre was urged by the Gundam to leave the cockpit before it detonated, and although he was injured, his life was spared. He then headed for space in a shuttle and spent the next several days drifting, barely conscious. He was finally found by a small group of Alliance remnants, who were soon attacked by OZ. Deciding that the boy's life should be spared, the remnant leader placed Quatre in a Leo mobile suit and sent him off, while the group stayed behind, eventually killed by OZ forces.

After six more days of drifting, Quatre happened to end up outside of a Winner resource satellite, where he was recovered by another shuttle. Unbeknownst to him, at first, the nurse on the shuttle was one of his twenty-nine sisters, Iria Winner. She nursed him back to health, and when he finally came to, the two of them headed home to the Winner Resource Colony, where Quatre was then berated by his father, a pacifist, for taking part in Operation Meteor. Obviously, the rift that existed between Quatre and his father in Episode Zero had yet to be bridged, and it showed as the two butted heads, with Quatre claiming that his father just didn't understand him. On that same day, Zayeed was voted out of office due to disagreements over arming the colony, so tensions were already high. Their argument ended with no resolution, and Zayeed proceeded to the resource satellite, which he then separated from the colony, not wanting weapons to be produced there. After taking a vote, the colony fired a beam cannon at the satellite, destroying it and killing Zayeed, as Quatre and Iria watched in horror from a shuttle.

Thus began Quatre's brief descent into madness. Overcome with grief, he used the resources of the colony and blueprints left by Instructor H to create the powerful Gundam Wing Zero. With the intention of destroying all weapons in space, he was entirely unprepared for the mental effects of Wing Zero's neural interface, the ZERO System. (The ZERO--or "Zoning and Emotional Range Omitted"--System is a system that interfaces a pilot's mind with a mobile suit's computer. It enables the pilot to become aware of the outcomes of possible courses of action. "However, due to this direct brain interface, as the human brain cannot process the raw data, the system will cause the pilot to vividly "hallucinate" the possible paths that the pilot can take; as the pilot tries to figure out what is going on, the system can overload the brain with too many statistics and estimated values, causing temporary insanity." Zero System, Gundam Wiki.) As a result of this, Quatre completely obliterated an OZ-occupied resource satellite and then went on to warn a nearby colony that he would destroy it, as well. The colony was evacuated, and Quatre went through with his threat.

Trowa, acting as an OZ soldier, and Heero, an OZ prisoner, were sent out to investigate the new Gundam, which was on its way to destroy a second colony. Certain that the pilot was Quatre, Trowa approached without caution, assuming that the five pilots would team up and fight OZ once more. However, Quatre warned him to stay back and ultimately shot Trowa's mobile suit with Wing Zero's buster rifle when Trowa didn't listen. The mobile suit took heavy damage; it was then that Trowa realized something was wrong.

Seeing Quatre as an enemy, Heero engaged him in battle. The two fought viciously, Quatre claiming that space had gone crazy and needed to be destroyed, and Heero claiming that any enemy of the colonies was an enemy of his. The battle went on like this, until Trowa intercepted a shot meant for Heero. The shock appeared to knock some sense into Quatre, and he listened as Trowa used his final minutes to get through to the other pilot, pleading Quatre to accept their place in the war and to return to the kind and gentle Quatre that he is, before his mobile suit exploded from its damages.

This event stayed with Quatre throughout the remainder of the series. He took Trowa's words to heart, maintaining that his friend had saved his soul, and felt extreme guilt over his own actions.

Afterward, Heero continued trying to engage Quatre in battle, but Quatre's mind had returned to normal, and he was more concerned with Trowa's apparent sacrifice than defending himself from Heero's attacks. Heero had already sustained injuries from the battle, however, and he soon lost consciousness, leaving Quatre to care for him.

Once Heero awoke, they were captured by OZ soldiers but soon released by members of the Treize Faction, a splinter group of OZ soldiers who were loyal to Treize. Unfortunately, OZ officer Trant Clark managed to corral them again and forced Heero to test the ZERO System. As expected, he was unprepared for its mental effects and suffered temporary insanity, much like Quatre, so with Trowa's words in mind, Quatre brought Heero back from the brink after yet another battle.

At this time, Quatre also had faith that Trowa was still alive somewhere, despite the fact that everyone insisted there was no way he could've survived the explosion; he remained desperately convinced of this, though, and throughout the next several episodes, it was something he was obviously preoccupied with.

Eventually, he and Heero made it back to Earth, where they met with Lucrezia Noin, an ex-OZ pilot instructor who now worked with the ruler of the pacifist Kingdom of Sanc, Relena Peacecraft. With tensions growing between Sanc and the Romefeller Foundation (a group of aristocrats and royalties from across the world which had been secretly manipulating world affairs for centuries), Quatre left for the Middle East once more, in search of the newly rebuilt Sandrock. He returned to the kingdom with the Maganacs and provided defense from the invading Romefeller Foundation. Not wanting to see her people suffer any longer, however, Relena surrendered the kingdom and gave herself up to the Foundation. With no other options, Quatre returned to space.

He took temporary refuge on his home colony, within the Winner Corporation, and searched for the other pilots. Not much later, Duo sought him out and informed him that Trowa was alive and gave him his location. Quatre soon found him at the circus, which the other pilot had previously been using as his cover, only to realize that Trowa had amnesia. Quatre tried to get through to him, but Trowa's "adopted" sister, Catherine Bloom, made it clear that Quatre's presence wasn't welcome, as Trowa was much happier away from the war. Quatre explained that Trowa's current state was all his fault, and although his apology wouldn't be enough, it was the only thing he could do at the moment.

As he prepared to leave the colony, a battle between OZ and a rebel colony group called White Fang spread into the area. He returned to the circus to warn Catherine and Trowa and then set out to fight in order to protect the colony. Something must have gotten through to Trowa, though, because he felt that Quatre was calling him (which is perhaps another function of the "space heart") and soon joined him and Noin in battle. The three were later saved by Duo when they were mistaken for White Fang members, and their group was recovered by Duo's fellow sweeper, Howard, who was commanding the battleship Peacemillion. While on board, Quatre's Gundam was upgraded for space battle.

Later, when White Fang engaged OZ in battle outside of the space fortress Barge, Quatre, Trowa, and Duo intervened, taking neither side, and watched as White Fang leader Milliardo Peacecraft single-handedly took out the entire fortress by causing a chain reaction of explosions. With the balance of power in space now in White Fang's favor, OZ took the residents of the colony Trowa's circus troupe was on hostage, demanding that Libra (an OZ battleship that White Fang had seized) be returned. Milliardo made the decision to blast the colony with Libra's cannon instead, or at least made everyone believe that was what he'd been planning. In reality, the cannon was aimed for Earth, and it caused a massive amount of destruction when it was fired.

Determined to stop Milliardo, the pilots battled with White Fang's mobile dolls (mobile suits that were made to be controlled remotely, thus not risking the pilots' lives) before returning to Peacemillion, exhausted and with damaged suits. At Heero's request, the engineers installed the ZERO System into Quatre's Gundam so he would be able to lead the other pilots. Although Quatre protested vehemently, afraid that he would lose himself to the system again, Heero had faith that he could master it and insisted that he try.

When the pilots went up against the mobile dolls again, they noticed that the dolls' strategy was far too calculated to be mere programming. It became clear that someone else was controlling them, so Quatre was forced to use ZERO to bring the pilots together and strategize. It turned out that the mobile dolls were being controlled by Dorothy Catalonia, Milliardo's right hand, using a modified ZERO System. Fortunately, Quatre was able to best Dorothy in a battle of tactics, and the Gundam pilots defeated the dolls. After returning to Peacemillion again, Quatre removed ZERO, deciding that he no longer needed it; he had confidence in his own tactical abilities.

During the next skirmish, the pilots encountered Milliardo, who went straight for Quatre, considering him the "brain". Fortunately, the pilots stuck together, and Milliardo eventually fled the battle. In a desperate move, Peacemillion was crashed into Libra, disabling the main cannon and allowing Quatre, Trowa, and Duo to board the ship. Quatre soon located the mobile doll control room, where he found Dorothy waiting for him, rapier in hand. Using the ZERO system to enhance her abilities, she challenged him to a duel, and as they fought, she challenged his motives for battling as well.

The duel ended when she ran her rapier through Quatre's side. Before passing out, he lectured Dorothy on his reasons for fighting, even suggesting that they fight for the same reasons. A lot of what he said was reminiscent of the speech Trowa gave during Quatre's incident with the ZERO System, once again showing just how deeply those words had touched him.

At last, Trowa showed up in the control room and disabled the mobile doll system, leaving Dorothy behind despite Quatre's request to save her. He returned Quatre to his Gundam, and the two of them, together with Duo, left the battleship.

With Libra falling apart, large chunks of debris were falling toward Earth, threatening to cause massive amounts of damage. Joined by the Maganac Corps, the pilots attempted to destroy one of the larger blocks with minimal success. Fortunately, Wufei delivered Wing Zero's buster rifle to Heero, who then destroyed the block and brought an end to what would later be called the Eve Wars. The Earth Sphere United Nation was formed shortly thereafter, and Relena Peacecraft (now going by Relena Darlian once again, using the last name of her late adopted father) was elected to the position of Vice Foreign Minister. Under her guidance, the ESUN began disarmament.

It's assumed that Quatre returned home after his injuries were healed, which is the point I'd be taking him from, if accepted.

» Mobile Suit Gundam Wing: Endless Waltz
A year after the Eve Wars, it was decided that the Gundams were no longer needed, so Quatre devised a plan to send them into the sun on a disposal block, thus destroying them. Save Wufei, all of the pilots sent their Gundams to him. However, only a day later, Mariemaia Khushrenada, Treize's seven year old daughter and puppet for the Barton Foundation, declared war on the ESUN. Quatre once again utilized the help of the Maganac Corps to retrieve the disposal block. After modifying their engines, Quatre sent the Gundams back to Earth. He, Trowa, and Duo fought the Mariemaia Army in Brussels alongside Milliardo (once again going by Zechs Marquise) and Noin, who were now part of an organization known as Preventers, formed to prevent world and space conflicts from escalating. The five of them were able to disable the army's mobile suits without killing any of the soldiers.

Meanwhile, Heero was able to get through the defenses set up at Barton Foundation leader Dekim Barton's shelter, where Mariemaia was taking refuge, using Wing Zero's beam cannon. When it became clear that Dekim wasn't doing this to uphold Treize's ideals, civilians stood and rebelled against him. Astonished, he called for Mariemaia to rise as ruler of the Earth Sphere. When the girl complied, she was slapped by Relena and brought to her senses. Unwilling to let his granddaughter be brainwashed, Dekim trained a gun on Relena, but when he pulled the trigger, Mariemaia jumped in the way. Dekim was unconcerned and attempted to take another shot at Relena, but before he could even try, he was shot by a Treize loyalist. Following his death, the rest of Mariemaia's Army, who were all Treize loyalists, surrendered, bringing an end to the conflict.

Together with Trowa and Duo, Quatre self-detonated their suits, with Heero and Wufei destroying theirs separately. Having taken full control of the Winner Corporation, Quatre's first order of business was completing the construction of Colony X-18999, which would have been used in Operation Meteor.

Personality:
Quatre's personality changes and grows throughout the series. At the start of Episode Zero, we see a boy who feels like a pawn who's lower than dirt, an utterly useless tool who's only good for one purpose: to be a loyal heir who would one day inherit the family business. He is extremely resentful of his father and is seen by his chaperons as nothing more than a rich brat. Despite this, Iria mentions that Quatre is a gentle child, suggesting that, perhaps, the boy we see is not the real Quatre but a Quatre who is emotionally wasting away.

We begin to see what he's truly capable of when Rashid knocks some sense in him. He's smart, strong, and an excellent strategist, and he wants nothing more than to be useful and find his place in the world. When he parts with the Maganacs for the first time, he tells them that he will come find them and that he won't go to Earth to run away but to find himself.

When the series begins, two years have passed, and we see a much kinder Quatre. He's gentle, selfless, trusting, and seemingly eager to make friends. Rashid warns him that, perhaps, he may be a bit too trusting, but as mentioned in the history section, he possesses some type of extrasensory ability that allows him to read people a bit easier than the average person. He proves to have good judgment when choosing whom he allies himself with.

We're treated to a few other aspects of his personality when he meets with his father on the resource colony. Obviously, they still don't see eye to eye, and Quatre doesn't hold back when they disagree on his role in Operation Meteor. It could be said that he's a bit of a rebel, one who's determined and fights for what he believes in.

Because of his gentle nature, the death of his father hit him hard, and with the combined stresses of being betrayed by the colonies and becoming separated from his friends, he snapped. Wanting revenge, he built Wing Zero, his outrage and injustice becoming the perfect tools for the mind-altering effects of the ZERO System. When Trowa finally snaps him out of it, he returns to his kind self, but we later learn that he'd wanted to rebel against it. He hated his kindness, which only served as more fuel for his actions while under the influence of ZERO.

By the time the series ends, he's a much more well-adjusted person. He's found his place as the strategic leader among the Gundam pilots, finally confident in the usefulness of his abilities.

Other: Quatre is an accomplished musician! He plays the violin and piano (and possibly more) and uses music as a means of relaxing.

[Intercepted Transmission]

[The first several seconds of video are filled with snow and broken audio, until the face of a young, blond boy finally flickers into view. He's facing forward and speaking to the camera, and it appears he's been doing so for a while, as the transmission begins mid-sentence]

--been a while since we've spoken, but there's something I'd like to discuss with the four of you when you have time. The anniversary of the Eve Wars is approaching, and as you're probably already aware of, there have been some rising concerns and debates over the Gundams and their continued presence in the ESUN.

Please contact me when you can. I think the issue's worth discussing, and I'd like to get your thoughts on the matter, as well as share a few of my own ideas.

I hope to hear from you soon. Take care,

Quatre out!

[With a smile and a nod from the boy, the screen goes blank, and the video ends.]

Third Person:

Where is the soldier's place in a world of peace?

Quatre wondered this as he stared out of the window from what once was his father's office (his office now, he reminded himself) on the 24th floor of Winner Corporation. It was a thought that had been entering his mind more often as the days went by, even moreso as he'd often find himself staring beyond the stacks of paper before him and thinking that the office was much too large, that the pen in his hand was much too small. Nothing like being within Sandrock's cockpit, controls at hand.

He pressed his forehead against the window and sighed, watching the glass fog.

Never in a million years would he wish for anything other than peace. It was what they'd fought for, what countless others had died for, and what the Earth Sphere United Nation was desperately striving for. It was what he wanted. But a part of him--a selfish, desperate voice that he wished he could silence--craved the familiarity of the war, if only because he'd found his place within it. After two years of searching for his niche, searching for something he could be proud of, he'd finally found it among four other Gundam pilots, within a war where they'd learned to rely on each other, where he'd learned to be a leader. Now that the war was over, that familiarity, that confidence and self-assurance, was waffling a bit more each day.

He was starting from scratch, and it frightened him.

Current Characters: None

Character: Sandalio de Rabiffano, aka Biffy
Fandom: Parasol Protectorate
Character Notes:
History:
Biffy was a minor aristocrat with Spanish ancestory whose life was quite unremarkable until he became a drone to the vampire Lord Akeldama, with his quiet efficiency, excellent skills for gossiping and abundant charm, he quickly became Akeldama's favourite and the two of them were remarkably fond of each other.

In Soulless, Biffy is barely involved in events on the surface, though as one of Akeldama's many sources of information, it can probably be assured he at least had something of a hand in everything behind the scenes.

He gets a little more involved with Alexia's misadventures in Changeless, getting to know Professor Lyall and helping out his investigations in London, he prevents important information falling into the vampires' hands by spilling a cup of tea on their aetherographic transmitter - a minor act with very important ramifications.

Things took a turn for the worse after that, however, as in Blameless, the potentate kidnapped Biffy from Lord Akeldama and imprisoned him in a giant egg beneath the Thames for several months. He was eventually rescued, emaciated and with an appalling growth of facial hair, by Lord Maccon and Professor Lyall. He seemed inclined to survive the experience until a stray bullet meant for Lord Maccon hit him instead, leaving the alpha werewolf with no choice but to attempt turning the boy to save his life (there was some hope he would survive the metamorphasis, as he had been a vampire drone and so was quite likely to have the excess soul necessary to turn him) - he was successfully turned into a werewolf, but not without ruffling plenty of feathers.
One of the most trying aspects of this was that he had to remain bearded until Alexia's preternatural touch could render him mortal long enough to shave.

By Heartless, things still aren't really looking up, Biffy is not settling well into the pack and is still pining for his old master, he still resists the change every month and has a lot of trouble controlling it. As a result, he's somewhat miserable.

I'll be taking him from just before Heartless, to fit in with the other characters from the canon.

Personality:

Biffy is very good at presenting the image of a light-hearted dandy, and that image is not too far from the truth. He's very particular about the way he dresses, and absolutely cannot abide sloppiness in others - there's no excuse for bad manners and poor dress.

He's polite, cheerful and irreverent about a great deal of things, but his personality runs a lot deeper than what he shows on the surface. He's picked that up from both Akeldama and victorian society at large, overt displays of emotion being somewhat uncouth, and it being unwise to show ones hand before it is played.

He's incredibly organised and very observant, having spent years learning from Lord Akeldama how to watch people and pick up gossip, which is about the only thing that has served him well since becoming a werewolf, since they're incredibly gossipy creatures.

Recently, of course, there's a sorrow in him, noticeable to those who know where to look, though he still tries to project his ordinary cheerful air, he misses his old life terribly and desperately needs a place to belong within his new pack. He hides it very well, but it's there.

Other:

Biffy is, as stated, a werewolf. This gives him increased strength and speed as well as enhanced senses. As a young werewolf he's incredibly vulnerable to sunlight and also to silver. Because of his reluctance to control his condition, he becomes a wolf every night for several days around full moon.

Additional Links: A Character study by the author

First Person (entry type):

It is an absolutely wonderful night, and I don't mind saying I'm rather glad it's a new moon and I get to enjoy it. There are simply hundreds of parties happening and I think I can already hear the gossip from here!

I do have a little problem, however, I do hope somebody might be able to assist me with it. The most vexing thing about being a werewolf, I have found, is that one's hair seems adamant that it must retain a certain amount of, I hate to say it, scruffiness - which I, of course, simply cannot abide. There must be a solution, there are at least some werewolves that look rather neat, so how on earth do they do it?

I really don't think it fair to this wonderful new jacket that I should leave the house without every inch of me being just as fashionable as it is - including my rebellious hair. So I absolutely must find myself a solution posthaste.

Third Person:

Biffy barely allowed the tiniest flicker of envy to show in his eyes as he entered the ballroom and spotted the group of young men laughing together in the corner. To anybody else, they were practically furniture, young dandies seen scattered about at every social event in the whole city. To Biffy, they were... well they weren't family any more, they weren't where he belonged.

He was still one of them, in a way, he would make his way around the ballroom and talk to everybody, pick up all the gossip he could, make new friends and renew old ones and disappear out the door without anybody really quite registering he'd been there, not in any significant way. That was where the similarity ended, however, because at the end of the night he wouldn't return to Akeldama's townhouse and report the evening's events to his lord and master. His former lord and master. He would report them to his mistress instead, because no matter how much he may regret or dislike his new status, there was no point gathering that sort of information if you didn't tell anybody about it, and he did actually like Lady Maccon.

When morning came, instead of staying awake long enough to get some daylight errands run for Akeldama, keeping nighttime hours only because his master did, he would be forced to seek his bed in his windowless room, unable to stay awake and hiding away from the burning rays of the sun.

With a barely perceptible shake of his head, he tore his mind from such thoughts, noticing a young man dressed in yellow coming towards him, he allowed his smile to widen pleasantly.

"What ho, Tizzy," he called out to his former friend, ready to continue the masquerade he sometimes felt his life had become.

Current Characters: Roze Thomas, Sena Kashiwazaki

Character: Edward Elric
Fandom: Full Metal Alchemist, 2003 anime
Character Notes:
History:

When Ed was three years old, his dad left their family, leaving their mom to raise them alone. Still, Ed always seemed happy enough in Resembool. He had his family as well as the Rockbells, a very close family whom they often visited.

Ed was only six when he and Al make Winry a doll for her birthday, their first official use of alchemy. Though it’s a simple transmutation, it’s impressive for someone so young. Most kids don’t know what a chemical makeup is at six, things come from magic!

Winry was horrified but their mom was extremely proud of her two smart boys and begins to encourage them, even giving them access to their dad’s old notes. Though Ed really does love alchemy, he really begins to get into it after seeing how proud his mom is whenever they manage to do something new.

Ed first mentions knowing about human transmutation – a forbidden branch of alchemy – when Winry finds out her parents were killed while treating patients during the war. Apparently someone should have put those books up higher. Pinako smartly informs him to shut up, though that doesn’t stop them later.

Two years later, when he’s 10, they come home to find their mom had collapsed. Apparently she had been fighting an illness for a while and was finally succumbing to it. The following days were spent sending letters to everyone who had written their dad a letter, hoping he would be there and come home.

Their mom died without him ever returning.

It’s at her funeral that Ed decides they were going to do it. They’re going to relearn alchemy and bring their mom back but first they need to find a teacher.

Their chance came when Resembool had a rain heavy enough to nearly flood the river. While Ed and Al try and fail to help, a woman named Izumi shows up and transmutes a wall large enough to keep the water in, all without a circle. They’ve found their teacher! To convince her, they leave out the real reason they need to learn alchemy.

In the end, she agreed to train them if they could pass their test and so, Ed and Al begin their month long stay on a deserted island without the use of alchemy. At ten years old, Ed learned the truth about the world (AND THE CIRRRCLE OF LIFE~) . One feeds another, that feeds another, and so on. The boys that couldn’t eat anything but fish and fruits when they arrived were killing and eating rabbits when they left.

With the test passed, their lessons began, as did the reason the boys still fear Izumi to this day.

With their training complete, they return to Resembool and get to work. Without even letting the Rockbells know they were back, they get their materials ready and begin the transmutation, using their blood as material for her soul.

I don’t think I spoil anything by saying it doesn’t work. Al’s entire body is taken and Ed loses his left leg. Even while bleeding out through his leg, he was able to keep up enough calm to crawl to a piece of armor and use his arm to bind Al’s soul inside. The newly returned Al rushes him over to Winry and Pinako.

This is the part where Lieutenant Colonel Roy Mustang finally came in. One of the letters had finally managed to make its way to him and he had come in hopes of finding Hohenheim. Instead, he finds a suit of armor and a seemingly unconscious boy with only half his limbs. Still, he knows what they tried to do and was impressed that they managed to come out alive and leaves his name, along with an invitation to come to Central and take a State Alchemist exam.

Ed then has a new plan! They’ll become State Alchemist and use their resources to find the Philosopher Stone, a stone which allows alchemists to ignore the main rule. They’d no longer have to give up something of equal value to gain something else. Instead, they would be able to get their own bodies back without additional cost.

All of that’s kind of hard to do while missing half his limbs so he decides to get an automail arm and leg. Even though the operation is painful, he knows it’s nothing compared to what Al must be feeling.

His recovery and adjustment is where I’ll be taking him from.

Personality:

Stubborn, kind, selfish, a hero…Ed is a lot of things and is one of the most diverse personalities that I know of.

The main aspect of his character, and a play on his State Alchemist name, is his stubborn nature. It shows largely in his dedication to finding the stone but is also present in little moments, such as his continued refusal to drink milk. If Ed doesn’t want to, he really doesn’t want to and will fight until it’s over. Then he’ll complain about it happening.

Being a protagonist, he’s also very outgoing. If he wants something changed, he’ll work on changing it rather than just complaining. Whether it’s by reading until he has the knowledge, trying until he knows why it failed, talking to whomever has the influence to do something, or forcing the change himself, he’s a resourceful boy, smart enough to utilize all of his resources.

And yet he always ends up in trouble. As befitting of a shounen hero, he has a sizeable guilt complex. The downside to being your own boss, whom he really considers himself to be, is that one must also take responsibility for your actions. Over the course of the series, while Ed doesn’t initially kill, there is a lot of blood spilled due to being involved with him. Those lost while he knew them will always stay with him and if there was a lesson to be learned by their death, he’ll remember and apply it.
So, he’ll end up being both extremely arrogant and guilt ridden at the same time. After Barry almost kills them, he acknowledges that they’re just humans, that they’re not that large in the grand scheme of the world. Years later, he tells Roze that alchemist are the closest things to a god. He knows he’s strong and that he’s smart and that’s what most people see. Those closer to him though, see the self-doubting, pained Ed he can be.

While most extremely good fighters are strong, few are also shown to be smart. Ed is the best of both worlds. His martial arts are highly effective, his small stature lends itself well to speed, and he’s an alchemist genius. While the clapping is something given to him by the gate, the fact that he was able to do that transmutation so young and the rate at which he learns and adapts is amazing.

One of the conflicts in his personality is his selfishness…and his selflessness. In day to day life, what Ed wants is very important to Ed. Whether it’s stopping at a tourist attraction city before reporting to work as he’s supposed to or simply cheating at a card game he wasn’t really interested in, he’s not always putting others’ feelings first but if your life is in danger, he’ll be the first to jump into the fray. One of the hardest decisions he had to make was rather or not to kill a group of prisoners to save Al’s life. Since life isn’t something an alchemist can give back, Ed couldn’t do it, sentencing himself to the guilt of having been an instrument in his brother’s death and possibly his own.

Another is his maturity and his immaturity. He’ll fight, argue, mope, yell that he hates his brother who is forcing him into getting a shot, and stick out his tongue to tease enemies. He’s still very much a teenager, or child, in these times, displaying his real age. It’s only when it comes to inner strength that his maturity shows through. He kept his calm while bleeding out to save his brother’s soul, he takes responsibility for what he did when he was only ten and works to give Al’s body back. Though it took another lesson, he realizes how many things are beyond even his power but continues to push on anyway.

Opinions are also very important to him. His own, anyway. If he has a thought, he’ll say it, whether or not someone wants to listen. While some may push this aside as being socially ignorant, it’s really that he knows how he should act and doesn’t care. He doesn’t believe in gods so while he doesn’t outright attack those who do, why should he listen and pretend he does?

Other:

While Ed is extremely smart, his language doesn’t always reflect that. He uses slang and sometimes curses and his speech style is over all rough.

Ed is taken completely from the Japanese subs. I’m not sure how familiar the mods are with FMA or if they’re more familiar with the dubs or subs but I just wanted to point out that in the original versions, pretty much every character is more subtle. Not that that makes Ed subtle at all, just MORE subtle.

Besides that, I used the Fullmetal Alchemist Complete Book Story Side for a lot of dates, including the age Ed was when Hohenheim left.

First Person (entry type):

Everybody was impressed! I knew it wouldn’t be a problem for me even before I could transmute without an array. When I did it by clapping, they should have just handed me the watch right there and saved me a trip to get it tomorrow.

The worst part of the day was how smug the Lieutenant Colonel looked, the same look he got when I caught the rebels on the train. If he gets that look every time I do something good, it’s gonna piss me off but I’ll put up with him as long as I get the resources they promised.

Third Person:

The echo of his clap resounded through the entire alley, sounding as useless as it felt but it came again and again. When he stopped, it would mean it was over, that she was dead and nothing he could do, nothing done to Tucker would bring her back. What had Nina and Alexander done to deserve any of this, where was the Equivalent Exchange?

Nothing, there was nothing she could have done. So, he’d keep clapping because that law governed the world, especially alchemists, and there had to be some way to make it equal again… to make it right. What the hell good was the watch and the title if he couldn’t even save a little girl from the monster he’d been living with? If he couldn’t even do this for Nina, why did he think he could do anything for Al, what right did he have to think that everything they wanted wasn’t as unlikely as the blood stain taking back its original form?

Character: Sakuya Le Bel Shirogane
Fandom: Hatoful Boyfriend
Character Notes:
History: There is, unfortunately, limited background available for Sakuya, as the source he is pulled from is an otome game, despite being a particularly unusual one. Additionally, the information in this application will contain several large spoilers as to the nature of the game, and Sakuya, so if the reader intends to preserve the surprises and fresh, intriguing quality of the game, now would be the point at which one should stop reading.

To begin with, I should touch upon the particular history of the Earth Sakuya hails from. In the early 21st century, birds began to pass on a deadly disease to the human population. In an attempt to curb the spread of the pandemic, scientists designed a virus, intended to kill off all bird efficiently. Unfortunately for humanity, instead of its intended purpose, the virus served to increase the intelligence of the bird population, passing on intelligence through the flocks as if it were a bacteria. Their aim and attempt defeated, humanity found themselves dying in droves, excepting, of course, those humans who were naturally immune to the virus. At the end of the chaos, super intelligent birds were the dominant species, with the few humans left living on the outskirts of society.

This in mind, Sakuya is a fantail pigeon, from a rich, prestigious French pigeon family. There is a dark secret in his past, however, one which upsets his entire high self image. Sakuya has a brother, who he views as his half brother, through his mother. However, he is, in fact, his full brother. Before Sakuya’s mother married into the Le Bel family, she laid two eggs with another pigeon. One of them was Yuuya, Sakuya’s brother. The other, was, in fact, Sakuya. When their mother created a new, fertilized egg with Le Bel, Yuuya traded it out for the egg of his unhatched brother, hoping that, through this, he could provide a better life for his brother.

Sakuya is a transfer student at the respected Japanese school for gifted pigeons, St. PigeoNations. As the bird there with the highest position in their class structure, he was automatically given the role of President of the Student Council. As for the rest of his history through the game, it varies, depending on which path you, as the player character, take. I’ll be playing Sakuya from the ‘Hurtful Boyfriend’ storyline, with the kind permission of the mods, therefore, I will elucidate the occurrences of that path following here.

The player character is the sole human to attend the all-bird school, her purpose: to serve as a symbolic bridge between humanity and avians. Unfortunately, she ends up killed and divided into sections, with each part of her being placed in a classroom. Sakuya and her childhood friend, Ryouta investigate the cause of her murder, traversing the school grounds which have been mysteriously barricaded by a metal dome. In the process, they discover that her death provides the humans outside with the excuse to enter the school at the end of the day and murder every bird inside. Sakuya demonstrates a significant amount of bravery, facing down a robotic scarecrow, and a murderous member of infirmary staff. Yuuya dies while protecting him, but not before informing him of his true origins. In the end, they are forced to leave Ryouta behind, as he was infected with a deadly, human-killing virus by the murderous doctor, and they escape through a tunnel. My purpose in playing this version of Sakuya is to take advantage of his new, somewhat shaken convictions of his place in the nobility.
Personality: Sakuya, amusingly, is an extremely cocky bird. He acts incredibly entitled as he believes he is entitled. His father has informed him of his superiority to every other bird since he was a chick. However, his father is also incredibly overbearing, not allowing Sakuya any freedom to be his own individual. Sakuya dreams of performing music for a living, which his father disapproves of, informing him that birds of his rank are patrons of the arts, not performers thereof. This results in much of Sakuya’s discourse serving as empty bluster. He believes in his own superiority to others, yes, but as far as having in faith in himself, or the confidence to work outside of his father’s direction, he is sadly lacking.

Sakuya’s sense of superiority means he is very rude to any bird or human he believes is below him, which appears to be all of them. He refers to them as ‘mongrels’, and dismisses their input. However, when the PC adopts a commanding air, he listens to her, implying that all it takes is for someone to treat him as he treats others (i.e. like his father) for him to view them as being on equal footing to him. Presumeably, this is because he’s never learned to say no to his father, blindly agreeing with everything he is commanded to do by him. Therefore, if an individual doesn’t dance around his status, he doesn’t know how to react to them besides complying.
Other: He has the ability to play the piano quite well (although it is never explained exactly how.
Additional Links: As an independent otome game, no relevant websites have yet been created. As the writing and characterization is, frankly, superb, I suspect it won’t be long. But for now, I’m afraid I can provide nothing.

First Person (entry type): It appears that I have landed amongst a horde of mongrels. No, worse, a place primarily populated by humans. How uninspiring. I suspect none of you have encountered one such as me before, an individual with my familial status, and title. Yes, I am a Le Bel, the sole inheritor of that esteemed name. Sakuya Le Bel Shirogane to be exact. I don’t typically consort with peasants, but your mongrel website leaves me no other choice. At the very least, it will give you a chance to experience one much better than you all, to see what comes of proper breeding.

Third Person: All the pigeon had left to him was his pride, and even that had been severely damaged. Was his name not his own? No! It couldn’t be! His thoughts, his very self was in turmoil. To gain a brother for a moment, only to lose him, along with the meaning his name had always had. As if today were not unsettling enough. As if he were not in danger of losing his life, along with all the others in the school he, as the superior, should be protecting. Or…did that apply anymore? Everything his life was founded on was a lie.

But no matter. He had no choice but to continue, to discover the truth, to at least save himself and the mongrel he travelled with. The equal he travelled with. There was a mystery still to uncover and the time or reckoning had not yet come. There was still, perhaps, time to prove he deserved his name on his own merits as opposed to the chance of his hatching. Only time would tell if he was as good a pigeon as the one he travelled with, as his brother. If he was better than the mongrel he had named every other bird.

The moderators have conferred and come to the conclusion that we need to make an amendment to our rules. From now on, only actual real people can play characters at DDD, and we will not be accepting applications from fictional characters.

I'm very sorry! Please contact your mun and have her rewrite her own app if she wants to apply for this character. We're very glad to have you at DDD, Dirk, but we feel that fourth wall breakages of this nature are better left to Andrew Hussie.

Are you at least 15?: I'm nearly twice that.
Current Characters: Karen Minazuki

Character: Andrusi
Fandom: Drama Drama Duck OOC Comm
Character Notes:
History: On February 1, 1984, a boy named Andrew was born in the city of Durham, North Carolina. He was a fat, ugly little baby, so his parents were forced to escape to the smaller North Carolina city of Concord. Nothing much happened until he was around five, when he developed ridiculous obsessions with computers and little robot toys called Transformers. Even then, his life appears to have been fairly ordinary, and by 2001 or so he was the oldest of three brothers, and had taken on the nickname Andrusi for his various Internet-related pursuits.

For reasons that have never been adequately explained (Transformers?), Andrusi decided to apply to college with the intention of becoming a mechanical engineer, which he began in 2002. At this point he promptly began performing embarrassingly in class (including his archnemesis Chemistry, which he had to take three times!), but after an eye-opening discussion with his parents, he decided to embrace his true self and change majors to computer science. This went a lot more smoothly, and he graduated in 2007. During his time in college, one good(?) thing that happened to him was that he discovered a weird magical girl anime called Pretty Cure, which he quickly began to enjoy on a similar level to his still-growing collection of Transformers.

Unfortunately, the job market for computer programmers in Concord was not so great, and Andrusi found himself with a lot of free time. As his job search began to seem more and more futile, he began to seek other things to do with his time, which led him to apply for a character in, of all things, an Internet roleplaying game. Naturally he picked someone from Pretty Cure, one "Karen Minazuki," and dove right in. In a telling sign of things to come, the first things he had Karen do were talk to Detective Conan characters and make vague lesbian advances towards a princess. I guess this must have provided him with renewed enthusiasm or something, because in 2009 he ended up finally getting a job, though he worked at a theme park for a season before I guess the writers finally remembered he was supposed to be a programmer and had him start working in IT doing something called "application support and license management" which appears to actually be "whatever we feel like having him do today." And that's the situation he's in at the start of the series proper, where I'm taking him from.

Personality: The first thing to note about Andrusi is that he's all about the terrible jokes. Puns are his favorite, but he makes jokes of all kinds, up to and including apping himself at a Dreamwidth roleplay. One of his favorite dumb jokes goes: "Only one, but he'd better be careful about it, or this could get confusing. How many time travelers does it take to change a light bulb?" He's also kind of obsessed with Transformers and Pretty Cure--he goes to Transformers conventions regularly and watches Pretty Cure religiously. Andrusi is also, unapologetically, a huge pervert. He usually overtly acts perverted towards other female characters, but only ones he already knows aren't interested, and in person he sure seems to like hanging out with his male co-workers a lot, so I dunno what that says about him. That said, he's generally friendly outside of his various quirks, and he seems to like helping people out with his computery skills (as especially seen during the Release 88 arc), though it seems like there's probably a "showing off" aspect to that too.

Also, he seems to think the word "hug" is really funny, for reasons that haven't been explained yet.

Other: Andrusi appears to get his copies of Microsoft operating systems, Sonic games, etc. from an alternate universe where they all aren't nearly as terrible as people on the Internet seem to think he's required to believe. I believe this means he has a canon basis for being able to worldhop.

Additional Links:

First Person (entry type):

Okay, I need someone to explain this to me. Why do people find it so objectionable that someone doesn't like the same foods as them?

I mean, I don't like onions. What's wrong with that? It isn't even that I dislike the taste, I just think the texture is weird. Why is this a problem? Because apparently it really bothers some people.

Or pizza. I like thick-crust pizza, the sort of thing you get from most pizza restaurant chains. My dad likes New York style pizza. That's fine, right? No, apparently he thinks that means he's "failed" me, because only the pizza he likes--which still isn't anything like an actual Italian pizza--is "real" pizza, somehow.

Why is this an issue? Seriously?

Third Person:

Urgh. Where had the weekend gone? Here it was, Sunday afternoon already, and Andrusi was sitting in his bedroom with a slight headache (the Tylenol hadn't helped much). To make matters worse, writing the first-person sample for his application had made him hungry. And his Pepsi Throwback stash was gradually being depleted again.

Adjusting his glasses yet again (there seemed to be something off about the frames, he needed a new set), he sat back for a moment, looking around for inspiration. Oh, there were the Transformers on his desk. He really needed to talk himself into putting some of those away at some point, since new stuff was coming out and he needed to make room. Ironhide would go in the box, probably. Maybe Warpath too.

There was his 3DS, sitting on top of an external hard drive. The game machine always worked nicely, and was perhaps the most reliable piece of electronic equipment he owned, which was much appreciated since he was in love with the little thing. The hard drive, less so. He'd run into disk errors trying to watch Heartcatch episode 28, much to his frustration. And then he'd gone and downloaded Smile episode 9 to the same drive. Stupid, stupid, stupid.

Finally, it hit him. He was apping himself as an April Fools's Day joke. Why not just write his third-person sample about his attempt to come up with a third-person sample? So that was what he did.

Character: Achilles
Fandom: The Iliad
Character Notes:
History: Achilles was born the son of Peleus and the nymph Thetis, who was prophesized to bear a son even greater than his father. It's said that he was invulnerable in all parts of his body except for his heel, where his mother held him when she dipped him into the river Styx.

The many suitors of Helen, the most beautiful woman in the world, had all made a vow that if anyone took her away from her chosen husband, they would all band together and fight to bring her back. Achilles was one, and so when Helen was stolen away to troll, he and all the rest took their ships and sailed to fight a long war.

Achilles was the strongest of the Greeks fighting against Troy, and easily capable of turning the tide one way or another in the war. The beginning of the Iliad describes how, many years into the war, he had an argument with Agamemnon, another Achaean leader, over one of his slaves. Agamemnon's battle prize was the daughter of a priest of Apollo, the father prayed to Apollo, Apollo sent a plague, to stop the plague Agamemnon gave back his battle prize and took Achilles's instead. Achilles was offended and retired from combat, and prayed to his mother Thetis that the Greeks might lose ground in the war.

With the Greeks now losing against the Trojans, Agamemnon tried plying Achilles with the return of his slave and other gifts to leave his tent and return to combat, but Achilles refused.

Seeing that the Greeks were disheartened, Achilles' beloved friend Patroclus took up Achilles's armor and took to the field to rally the Greeks' spirits. He was killed by Hector of Troy, and in his grief and rage, Achilles went back into battle to seek Hector's death.

Achilles single-handedly killed so many Trojans that the god of the river nearby told him to stop choking its waters with corpses, and Achilles just attacked him instead.

Once he found Hector, he chased him around the walls of Troy three times before Hector stopped and faced him, and begged him to treat his body with respect. Achilles refused, and slew him, then dragging his body with his chariot around for all to see.

Once his rage had cooled a little, Hector's father Priam was able to convince Achilles to allow him to give his son funeral rites. The Iliad closes on Hector's funeral.

Supposedly, Achilles was killed before the capture of Troy by Paris, who shot him in the heel using a poisoned arrow.
Personality: Achilles is proud, and quick to take offense. When his pride is injured he puts the entire Greek army at risk just to ensure his own glory, and it takes the death of his dearest friend to take him out of his tent and back onto the battlefield. He is extreme in all things he does - his grief for Patroclus is intense, his violence and fury brutal.

He's a person you don't want to get angry.

You really don't. It won't end well for you or for anyone.
Other: The Iliad is a book and perfectly reasonable to apply from, and I am an actual person. Look me up.
Additional Links: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Achilles

First Person (entry type): Tell me, children of ducks and words upon the pages of my book. I have little to do now but amuse myself until I take to the field of battle once again.

For what purpose do you fight? Glory? The thrill of shedding blood? To restore your honor?

Perhaps you do not fight at all. There are many of you that are foreign to me and the ways of the Achaeans. I do not try to understand you, but there is little else to be done in one's tent but consider taking my ships home and abandoning the war entirely.

Third Person: Achilles had grown to know the insides of his tent intimately since his withdrawal from combat. He had seen very little else, since he refused to move from there.

He might have found it boring, or longed for the return to battle to spark some liveliness into his days, were it not for his stubborn pride. Until he was satisfied with the Greek army's need for him on the battlefield, he would not leave his tent. He could not and would not consider giving in - the very thought never even passed his mind.

Without being able to take part in battle, he had nothing much to do but listen to the music his slaves played for him and stew over what he would do once Agamemnon finally begged for his assistance. That would be well worth the waiting and the boredom and his mother's tears as she asked him to reconsider. Well worth it.

Character: Celes Chere
Fandom: Final Fantasy VI
Character Notes:
History: Once upon a time, Celes was born in a poor orphanage in Albrook. She was taken in by the Gestahlian Empire in young childhood and gifted with the power of magic, which allowed her to summon ice and to heal injuries. She was raised in order to become a general, trained to fight and kill from a young age. Her few confidants became her family - fellow general and tutor Kefka, her foster father and scientist Cid, and her lackey Leo.

Celes grew into a fine general, her victories including several sieges of small towns, helping to clear out the Crown Caves, and subjugating and conquering Maranda at the age of 15.

However, at 18, she decided to temporarily leave the Empire in order to test her companions and to figure out what she wanted to from life. She remains at large and wandering to this very day.
Personality: Celes is, first and foremost, a general, which permeates her very being. She is all ice - hard and cold and vicious to all who oppose her. Straight-backed and jagged, her enemies fall before her like snowflakes.

But even ice can be melted, and then Celes is water - a smooth surface, but the depths are wicked and wild, plotting dastardly deeds with every move. Brilliant as sun on the waves, her strategies flow freely. And only a few can melt her to show her kindness - only her closest family or friends may dare to do so.

Celes has a childish side that she keeps under wraps - she loves opera and she loves games, both of which she indulges in with fellow general Kefka and her foster father Cid de la Norte.

First Person (entry type): Diary,

I fear for the safety of our troops in Doma. They face increasingly bad odds - a siege like this will fall, but not soon enough for our Emperor. I can only hope that General Kefka can help General Leo to solve this dilemma before he is fired for being an incompetent.

It has been some time since Kefka and I played our game of false-treasons. I think I shall try him again - we'll see how long it takes for him to convince me to come back to the Empire this time. It still remains our favorite game, and I think we are overdue. And if I accidentally take things too far, I'm sure he will come clear it up in time.

I got my copy of 'The Aria of the Masked Princess' today and put on my best opera dress to sing for it. I love it!

Celes Chere

Third Person: The town was the same color as sunset. Flames ate at buildings, gnawed at civilians, and crackled as background music to the sonata of screams that echoed throughout the city.

And it lapped at Celes's boots, fearful of her. She was perched on her magitek armor, a ration in one hand, binoculars in the other, waiting for word of Maranda's surrender.

Lord Kefka, her partner, looked up to her from his seat at the armor's feet. "How long until they give up the ghost? Until they're ghosts? Hee hee hee..."

Her mouth barely quirked. "Soon. I doubt they'll allow this senseless waste of life to continue further. We're losing valuable art and artisans to this fire, and it will take time to regain it."

"It's not that bad."

"It is!" she snapped, dropping an icicle on Kefka. Kefka squeaked as it melted into water when it hit him. "What will we do with charred land alone? It may make a pretty spectacle, and the Emperor is fine with it, but what about in ten years? When the land is still rotten?"

"It will heal. And we will have found the source of magic by then, Celes," Kefka said, wringing out his hair. "Didn't I tell you before? We're close."

"I hope you're right," she said. Kefka reached up to touch her icy hand; she allowed it, squeezing back, a sibling agreement not to worry.

Character: Battler Ushiromiya
Fandom: Crying Seagulls-- what the hell is with the name of this?
Character Notes: This current Battler is too much of an idiot, I want to take over.
History: Battler Ushiromiya once was a young boy who was adorable and talked about being a knight and things (I know, I met him during a virus once) and then somehow over the course of the passing years his soul was corrupted until the insides of his brain consisted of womens' breasts, lame chess comparisons, and the inability to make consistent sense. His family all got murdered except for his little sister Ange, who he conveniently forgot about for about four games until his best friend Yuri reminded him after she talked to his future self and Ange showed up.

Backtracking, after everyone got murdered this blonde witch showed up and told Battler it had all been done with magic. Instead of telling her she was crazy and just waiting for a day for the police to get there, he took up her challenge and began fighting against a witch while saying that magic didn't exist. Then Battler learned to teleport and still said magic wasn't real. A mysterious girl named Gretel who looks an awful lot like she's related to him shows up to help him and he learns to use blue text magic. Because magic totally doesn't exist, and this Gretel girl who happens to be a witch also denies that magic was involved in this thing. The first witch, whose name is Beatrice by the way, ends up telling Battler some stuff that causes him to have a mid-life crisis even though it really wasn't that big of a deal and Gretel reveals herself to be his moemoeimouto please come home Battler-niichan and gets ripped to shreds.

Battler angsts and kills Beatrice and then gets pissed at his greatest friend Yuri because she tried to save Beatrice because Battler's a moron and, as he would soon realize when he finished angsting while two other witches screwed around with the fifth game, Beatrice loved him and he used to know her. One of the witches named Lambda Delta was like wow you figured it out I guess I'll make you gamemaster now, so Battler switched sides to be on Beatrice's side and challenged the other witch (I think her name was Bern-something?) to finish the game. He now has to win or die trying to be an arrogant asshole, under his new name, Endless Sorcerer Buttler.
Personality: Moron, pervert, stupid, stubborn, and a good guy but mostly he's just an egomaniac in a cape who has to not say the truth without lying. And he's still a moron.
Other: He's got endless magic and the ability to be a butt wherever he goes.
Oh and he doesn't like duct tape.
EDIT BECAUSE BATTLER COMPLAINED!! If he isn't in love with someone, he'll go blind within a matter of hours.
Additional Links: This is a picture of him on most days. He never listened to his grandmother and his face got stuck that way.

First Person (entry type): Ihihihi little does everyone know that I, Battler Arejandro Ushiromiya, have secretly obtained my powers for a single purpose. While they will definitely be useful in defeating this evil witches who are trying to torture me and my family forever, there's really only one good use for this...

Ihihihi, I can make all the girls' breasts two cup sizes larger and not change the size of their shirt so that there's extra cleavage everywhere! Ihihi! Ah, especially Yuri's since I'm always fantasizing about her since I'm a moron and can't ever think of anything better to do even when I had sex with a succubus while I was an evil jerkoff. Ah, but if I turn the chessboard over then the obvious answer would be to just steal the shirts of all the girls in the community. They won't be able to prove it was me either, since they can't disprove that it was the community! It's a devil's proof! Ihihihi there's no way that this can go wrong or that the lovely Yurippe-san would punish me for days on end for it.

Third Person: Battler Ushiromiya waltzed into the parlor with an air of pompousness, pulling his cape over his side with a flutter and a whooshing sound as the air fell through the bottoms of his newly obtained piece of attire. He had finally taken Yuri's advice and gotten some new clothes, but it only had made him look even dorkier than before... What was he to do? He couldn't impress her like this, but he had to concentrate on the game or Ange would surely come attempt to kill him while he didn't sleep because in a place where time doesn't pass, there's obviously no reason to catch a little bit of z's instead of mentally screwing himself over. (Goddamnit Battler is such a moron sometimes, then he falls asleep in the middle of a visit like he's some kind of king that he deserves to take up the whole floor.)

Back to being pompous. Battler was pompously fluttering his cape and even using magic to make it billow out behind him after he had dramatically tossed it over his shoulder. He was always one for being dramatic, and he couldn't get rid of that even if he had given up his walrus-like cries and was working on but failing to filter out his chorus of backwards English hellos. It may have been that he was attempting to greet people this entire time and got it backward, he was horrible at English after all, but nevertheless he had given it up in favor of looking like a vampire. Not like it was hard, he already had pointy canines-- seriously how did he live with those? Did he file them to get them like that or something?

Right right. Okay, so he sat down in his chair, which he now referred to as his throne even though it was, in fact, a regular chair, and called forth the stakes and the witches and all of the other members of his pseudo harem that he would like to believe is his harem, including that one girl who gave him Valentine's chocolates. Except Ange, since he's being a butt to her right now.

"We have to discuss the new change of my name that Yuri and Ange have been calling me and stop it right now."

"But Buttler-sama--" one of the girls objected.

"UUUUOOOOOOOOOGH!!"

Battler's wails almost broke a window. It had already caught on. There was nothing he could do.

Character: Adam
Fandom: Neon Genesis Evangelion
Character Notes:
History:

There is very little known about Adam, beyond the fact that Adam and Lilith were released into the by some nebulous Space God. Maybe. After millions or more millions of years, they came to crash upon Earth. They are speculated to have wiped out the dinosaurs, so one might presume they are at least a little over 65 million years old. Following the mass extinction of the dinosaurs due to the residual effects of their individual impacts, Lilith came to rest beneath what would become Tokyo-3 (forming there the geofront), and Adam came to rest beneath what would become the Antarctic ice caps.

Many millions of years crawled by. Each entity came into a deep hibernation, though it seems Lilith came to be discovered a little after Adam. Given the canon’s timeline, we can assume that Adam may have been discovered anywhere from six-to-ten years before Second Impact. GEHIRN would have had to input a good amount of time to even reach the sleeping behemoth, never mind come to experiment upon it and form the groundwork and eventual fruition of the human cloning process. After all, Kaworu’s own shell needed to first be created in order for this to even make sense later on. Anyway, Adam was quite busy minding its own business by hibernating, and somewhere along the way, the humans came to discover what would be the key in waking up the beast: the Lance of Longinus. Being ambitious as they were, they of course wanted to continue experimentation. Gendo had gone to visit the site, but left before the cataclysmic happening – which is to say, the aforementioned Impact. Like any beast woken from the depths of sleep, much more with its only weakness, Adam reacted violently. Upon the use of what would later be known as an Anti-A.T. Field (one that attacks rather than defends), Adam proceeded to wipe out all that were upon the base – well, almost all of them. Doctor Katsuragi placed his only daughter, who was staying with him, within the only protective capsule left after the violent explosion that Adam caused. Despite her grievous injuries, she managed to survive the site of Second Impact. However, this would lead to much trouble for Adam’s “offspring”, as Misato, the scientist’s daughter, would forever hold deep hatred for Adam’s kind. Not to mention, too, she ended up being a pretty daring strategist.
However, despite the shockwaves of destruction that Adam would echo throughout the world (as it shifted climates as well as sparked wars), it was eventually subdued and placed into cryostasis. The Lance managed to revert it to fetus, but without the specific treatment, Adam would again regrow into the beast that was once awoken.

It is unknown where Adam spent its years following that fateful event on September 13, 2000 – but, it can be assumed that it was found and frozen. Some speculate it might have spent time in SEELE’s possession, later taken by Kaji during the mission that brought Asuka to Japanese soil, and given to Gendo. Unfortunately for Adam, Gendo would proceed to consume its body preceding the events of episode 24, which likely a) distorted Kaworu’s ability to sense Adam b) just further proved the point that Kaworu had no idea what Adam even looked like, and assumed very genuinely that Lilith was Adam when he invaded Terminal Dogma. Gendo would go and (un)happily sit in Gendo’s right hand after fusing with him, presumably a pretty grand metaphor for Gendo’s God complex. After all, the Evangelion units were created to combat their once thought of “God”, which is Adam – and the Angels that would follow it.
In EoE, Adam would be joined with the steadily “falling to pieces” Rei, though she would later join Lilith with the fetus of Adam within her of her own volition. After, of course, taking Gendo’s hand with her and leaving him to die. :|b

Personality:

Adam enjoys sleeping and becomes very violent when awoken! Similarly, it seems to want to join with its children more than anything. However, Adam will compromise if it has to and go ahead in side in some crazy man’s hand. Geez. Also, Adam is probably pretty wise, but Adam can’t talk and doesn’t possess any kind of curiosity for humans, nor can it talk to them. Adam usually tends to restrain its powers unless provoked, proving that it is probably pretty nonviolent by itself.

Other: Here's a nice picture. Also its full title might be "Adam Kadmon", not just "The Giant of Light".

First Person (entry type):

[ there is nothingness for a long, long time. no sound and no movement, though there seems to be a stillness that is filled with some life. not human. seems to be filled with some presence, beneath the thick miles of ice.

there’s a glow. cold, though it burns hotly.

whatever it is, it is huge and hulking. like the behemoth of myths or sacred texts.

for now, it is sleeping.

don’t wake it. ]

Third Person:

People were so small in comparison. Though it could not think like they do, more animal than human, it could hear the approaching sound of icepicks. Of drills. Like a roar or a rumble from the beginning of ages. Like the vastness of some universe that spans instead of shrinks. It has traveled many millions of miles. Further beyond the comprehension of humans. It cannot die, though it does not live. And if it could, perhaps it would wonder the mystery of mortality - the persistence. The fast way they scurry and shiver. Packed tightly in groups to keep warm. Far, far buried in chill. In snow.

It closes its massive eye.

One day soon, it will wake up. One day soon, it will spread its wings. One day soon, it will bloom and freeze. One day soon, they would fear the way of its glowing body. The ineffable cold, despite the enormous illusion of heat.

Soon, they wouldn't bug it, anymore.

Current Characters: Percy Weasley, Regulus Black, and the Fifth Doctor

Character: The Master (Simm!)
Fandom: Doctor Who
Character Notes:
History:

Just like every other Time Lord child, the Master looked into the Time Vortex to get admitted into the academy. Unlike every single other one of them, though, he heard the sound of drums. They never left, either, and the noise combined with nobody believing him about them drove him insane. Now, when he was in the Academy, he was best friends with the Doctor. Actually, genuinely best friends. They had a falling out, for one reason or another, and ever since relations have been strained at best. This could probably be traced back to the Master’s, you know, being evil. Also, one time the Doctor stole his sandwich, which is just not remotely on.

Something else was remotely on, though: The Time War. After the Master burned through all his extra lives and a few spares, the Time Lords revived him to fight in the war. He did for quite some time, but eventually the shit getting real hit too high a level for him to deal with. He responded by running away as far and as fast as he could. That place turned out to be the End of the Universe. With a handy dandy chameleon arch (hidden inside a hobwatch) around to turn him human, he forgot all about who he was, where he came from, and the drumming sound inside his head. Unfortunately for the universe but very fortunately for him, the Doctor came around and, in the process, helpfully reminded him. And by reminded him, we mean his companion pointed out the watch’s existence and the Master cracked it open to receive the prize inside: himself.

He stole the Doctor’s TARDIS and jumped back to London in the 2000s. He promptly made a name for himself. Literally. He went by Harold Saxon, married a woman named Lucy, took up a career in politics, and climbed the ladder all the way up to Prime Minister. Along the way, he invented the Archangel network, which connected all the mobile phones across the world. The only minor inconvenience was a signal that hitched a lift and brainwashed the masses to vote for him, but we all know nobody reads the contracts anyway, so who’s counting? With victory in hand, he promptly killed his cabinet and invited a nice, friendly race called the Toclafane over for dinner.

Well, if by nice, friendly dinner, you mean turned the Doctor’s TARDIS into a Paradox Machine so that the monstrous and mechanical future humans could come back in time and help him launch a new Gallifrey on Earth. Then, yes, exactly that kind of dinner. Oh, and he also decimated the entire population, captured and rapidly aged the Doctor, killed Captain Jack multiple times, abused his wife, destroyed entire swaths of the landscape, and danced to the Scissor Sisters. Clearly, these were all massive, horrible crimes that could not stand. In fact, his evil while ruling the Earth was so great that when the Doctor was inevitably restored and kicked his arse, he also erased the entire year the Master spent in charge. Only people on the flying ship the Valiant could remember.

This included Lucy. She shot the Master in the chest just as the Doctor convinced the others to back down. Out of mostly spite and a bit of refusing to be captured, he refused to regenerate and appeared to die. Well, and also because he created a cult just in case of emergencies such as these. And, wouldn’t you know, a few years and some MacGuffins later, that cult served their purpose and brought him back to life. Almost, anyway. Lucy (surprise!) turned up again and sabotaged it. This gave him the bonus powers of shooting lightning and physically chewing the scenery, but at the cost of his hit points. Around this time, he and the Doctor confronted each other again. This time it involved lightning bolts, mindmelding to prove the drums really do exist, and nostalgia over their childhood. Oh, and getting captured by shady government dudes via helicopter at the end. Can’t forget that.

The shady government dudes turned out to be the Naismiths, who found an Immortality Gate and wanted the Master to help make it work. Somehow this also involved a straight jacket and a bondage chair. Don’t ask. To make a long story short (too late!), the Doctor shows up and the Master sabotages the entire thing. See, the Gate heals people across the planet by using a specific body as a template. And the Master, well, he hijacks the entire thing by using his. This turns the entire population of earth into a race of, well, himself. The Master Race he calls it. The only humans to escape are Wilf (behind a glass case of radiation shielding) and Donna (because she’s half time lord).

It doesn’t last very long, and they all shortly have much bigger problems. The Time Lords are returning. On the last day of the Time War, Rassilon retroactively implanted a signal into the Master’s head when he was young. No prize for guessing what that is. But by using that signal and sending white point star, Rassilon and the Time Lords are able to create a link between Gallifrey and Earth. The Master opens the door and the Time Lords walk right through it. On the plus side, they undo the Master’s plot with the wave of a hand. On the other hand, they’re threatening to unleash a whole host of eldritch abominations and destroy time itself just by returning.

The Master has no real problems with that and goes to join them, but Rassilon rejects him. And by rejects him, we mean actually moves to kill him then and there. Would’ve worked, too, if the Doctor didn’t intervene and hold Rassilon at gunpoint. The Master starts urging the Doctor to fire, which causes a back and forth over who he’s aiming at. In the end, the Doctor picks a third option and destroys the white star diamond, thereby removing the Time Lords’ link with Earth. Rassilon threatens to kill the Doctor, but unluckily for him, the Master was wearing his heroic sacrifice and revenge hoodie today. He tells the Doctor to get out of the way, and then electroshocks Rassilon until the time bubble fades from view and takes him all with it.

He’s being taken from that time bubble.

The Master | Doctor Who 2/2

[personal profile] losesbest 2012-04-01 11:47 pm (UTC)(link)
Personality:
The Master, for better or worse and usually worse, always makes an impression. If nothing else, he’s certainly got a flare for camp and drama. Every action he takes is magnified to the most over the top demonstration possible. It’s not enough to gloat about his evil plan, oh no, he has to do it to pop music. It’s not enough to murder his entire cabinet, he has to do it in the most entertaining way possible. Hell, there’s a better than even chance that he turns humanity into copies of him *solely* so he can call it The Master Race. He slouches and smugs and gloats with total commitment, which is part of what makes him so completely irritating and annoying to everyone around him. Well, as long as they’re around, anyway, which is seldom very long.

He has a lot of energy, too. Some might call it upbeat, even. But there’s a childish quality to him that’s almost impossible to ignore. He bounces around, there’s no other word for it, and to the untrained eye a lot of his actions come off as completely impulsive flights of crazy. It’s in the way he keeps peeking in through a closed door to watch the Toclafane murder a woman, the way he zips his lips shut when the president asks him to, and all the way down to his habit for teasing and insults. And let’s not forget his habit for watching children’s telly and listening to pop songs, either. Regardless of whatever else is going on, the Master is petulant, selfish, and childish. He acts as if he’s telling a joke and you’re the punchline. But it’s a very, very big mistake to think that just because he’s hell of a lot of fun to watch that he somehow also doesn’t have a penchant for raising hell.

The Master’s got an ego the size of an entire galaxy. He always, always sees people as having no place in said galaxy. He’s very condescending towards anyone he doesn’t care about, which luckily enough happens to be almost everyone. He’s also very, very cruel. He revels in the death and destruction he causes wherever he goes. He decimates (using the word properly to boot) the Earth’s population like it’s the same as swatting flies. Putting it simply, he’s a diabolical mastermind. He’s amoral and very, very cold and chilling despite his sunny surface attitude. The only reason he even has an issue with Rassilon’s plan to escape the Time Bubble is because Rassilon kicks *him* out of it and ruined *his* life. If it doesn’t immediately concern him, he doesn’t care, and because he doesn’t care, it’s very easy for those ignored variables to come back to bite him in the arse.

Contrary to what his surface attitude would suggest, the Master plans. No, really, he does. A lot, as a matter of fact, or almost constantly, if you prefer. His schemes seem to take the form of a surface plan, a vast number of plans under that plan, and a failsafe for when the first few rounds of plans fail. The best example of this is the Sound of Drums/Last of the Time Lords plot. The surface level plot, which we’ll call Plan A, is to become Prime Minister using the Archangel network and launch a new Time Lord Empire on Earth using the Toclafane. Plan B launches the second the Doctor shows up, and we must assume that his typical Plan B is the plan he’s shooting for in the first place. Plan B involves getting the Doctor on the Valiant, aging him, and making him watch the fun below. Also associated with Plan B is making sure that even if he gets shunted aside (say, by a President), the Toclafane still will only deal with him. When these plans fail due to Martha and belief restoring the Doctor, he launches into Plan C, which is blow up the Earth with rockets. That plan also fails, which leads him to failsafes A and B. Failsafe A is escape out the back door, which fails and leads into Failsafe B, which is dying. That failsafe, by the way, *also* has plans attached, and so the cycle of plans never really ends.

Neither do the drums. The Master hears a perpetual drumbeat in his head, and has ever since he looked into the Time Vortex. Most of the time, this appears as a sort of tic, but when his regeneration goes awry, it becomes physically painful. The drumbeat is a constant call to war, and that means wherever he goes, he’s going to try to destroy things. He can’t seem to trust his own perceptions of things because of them. For example, during Last of the Time Lords, he essentially demands the Doctor tell him he hears them too. In the End of Time, he even resorts to a mindlink to prove they’re really there. He also seems to have a very nihilistic attitude in general, which is probably related to the drumbeat, too. He considers the world ending tomorrow a reassuring statement at one point. As much as the drumbeat drives him to destruction and madness, he also doesn’t know what he’d be like without them.

The Master spells his relationship with control out in his name. Namely, he always has it, and if he doesn’t, he wants it. At bare minimum, the vast majority of his schemes involve rulership or controlling to some degree. This Time Lord picked a politician as his cover for a reason, and it wasn’t just to pick up on scandals ahead of time. He can’t just build a paradox machine and invite the Toclafane over for lunch, no, he’s going to rule the world first and then build an empire on top of that. On a more personal note, the Master also considers losing control to be a fate worse than death. Literally. Now, he can be captured by people, even put into a straight jacket, and he won’t even bat an eyelash. But the threat of his control being truly and completely taken away is something very, very cutting to him.

That goes double if the Doctor’s involved. He always has to be ‘on’ when the Doctor’s around. What ‘on’ means varies depending on the context, but it typically involves some of the following points. For one, any camp traits he’s already showing are going to get turned up to eleven. If he had a cape he’d twirl it in a heartsbeat. For two, he absolutely cannot be seen out of control. If he’s captured, he’s busting out. If he’s acting like he doesn’t care about his position at all, wait ten minutes and bring the Doctor around. For three, he’s usually going to change his mood in some way. How his mood changes depends very much on the context, but there are some examples. If he’s been trolling the politicians all day, he’ll be serious with the Doctor. If he’s just being smug, he’ll started actively looking amused. If he’s emotional, he’s going to try to either clamp down on it or magnify it, whichever suits better at the time.

One of the Master’s primary motivators is spite. Nowhere is this more clear than his dealings with the Doctor. He refused to regenerate out of it once, after all. He also seems to be predominantly concerned with screwing over Earth in particular, which also has a spite motive attached. He can come off as exceedingly jealous of the Doctor and his relationships with humans. More importantly, he acts as the Doctor’s foil. He’s cruel where the Doctor’s kind, calculating where the Doctor makes it up as he goes, seeks to rule where the Doctor seeks to explore. All of that is well and evil, but the truly scary thing is that they actually have a great deal in common. Key highlights include a tendency towards arrogance, childish behavior, and egotism. Make no mistake that if the Master picks up on one of these, he’s going to taunt the Doctor over it. For example, when the Doctor explains what he did during the Time War, the Master takes great glee in pointing out how he must have been like a god.

The Master’s motivated by emotion more than he cares to admit or acknowledge. But hints are there, if you know how to look. The biggest thing is that he’s surprisingly easy to wound if (and this is the largest if in the universe) he cares about that person’s opinion. He can goad the Doctor into trying to kill him all day long, but the second it looks like he actually might, he looks incredibly stricken. This isn’t a characteristic only the Doctor provokes, by the way, as Rassilon calling him ‘diseased’ also puts the hurt on him. He also puts a lot of weight on the approval of these people. For example, when Rassilon and the Time Lord crew show up, he spends some time trying to convince them how genius and awesome his plan was, and when they start disapproving, he actually seems to be at a loss for words. This probably also explains his tendency for capturing the Doctor and making him watch his evil plan unfold. It also stands to reason that if the Doctor has some bad qualities in common with the Master, the Master has some good qualities in common with the Doctor. He’s completely willing to sacrifice himself for the Doctor’s life. This might as well be written in neon lights for how important and huge this is. Both of them run from death, whether personal or the sort left behind when they go.

Surprisingly, for all that he is a proper villain, the Master doesn’t actually lie very often, if at all. He uses half-truths, omissions, and straight up concealment to hide his motives. He also has a knack for twisting words around in ways he likes. Key example: What this country needs right now is a doctor. If anything, he comes off as too blunt as opposed to too false. By the time his victims have worked out he’s really not kidding about killing them, the room’s already filling up with gas. He also has a knack for derailing a conversation so that it goes where he’d like it to go and away from trickier topics. He puts on a great show of joking, but above all else, the Master needs to be taken seriously, because he’s almost always serious. Just in a very hammy sort of way.

The Doctor describes the Master as both stone cold brilliant and rock stupid. He’s not wrong. The Master can be so busy planting his forest of destruction that he forgets to pay attention to those trees. He’s full of a lot of contradictions that somehow stack up together in a way that almost makes sense. He’s one of the most dangerous, deadly people you’ll never meet for long at the same time as he’s one of the most genius, clever thinkers you’ll ever be stuck listening to. He’s as calculating he’s emotion driven. He’s as tragic as he’s hilarious. But above all else, the Master is somebody who simply cannot be ignored.
Other:

The Master has been known to use networks like this to mass hypnotize people. It’s kind of his thing. His commands tend to be very, very simple, or else people would reject them out of hand. Therefore, it is reasonable to assume he can hypnotize people over the community, and quite a lot of them at once, if it came down to it. There’ll be a permissions post about this!

Yes, I am aware I’m playing the Master and The Doctor at the same time. However, since Five’s from Classic!Who and the Master’s from the New version, there’s enough differences and handwaves to keep them from threading solely with each other. At the very least, we can assume that before the time war, the Master does not have drums in his head.

First Person (entry type):

Tell me, is it fun just living your tiny, meaningless lives with your heads stuck under the sand, not even noticing the stars? Good news, though! You’re not going to be doing that for much longer!

Now! If I could have your attention, please? Oh, wait, that sounded too much like a request, didn’t it? Let’s rephrase that, shall we?

Listen. Right now! I know, I know, who does he think he is, I’m just going to keep scrolling through youtube. But this isn’t a ha-ha-ha moment, we aren’t going to laugh about this over drinks later -- Get the message? I’m not kidding, really, I’m not.

Listen. Can’t you hear them? [taptaptaptap. taptaptaptap.] Getting louder? Getting closer? They’re coming. And when they do, oh, it won’t matter what you heard.

Third Person:
When he becomes ruler of the universe (or the parts of it left when he’s done, anyway), the first thing he’s doing is banning radios. Oh, don’t get him wrong, fiddling with them is easy as hypnotizing a baby. Give him a week and well, you won’t be doing much of anything for so very much longer than that. And he doesn’t have a problem with them in very specific circumstances. If it’s a broadcast along the lines of from him to the destitute (oh that’s such a good word, isn’t it?) populace below, hey, that’s just fantastic. Oh, and let’s not forget distress signals! Those are also very helpful in maintaining his sort of image. Any sort of warning, really, that just sends people running to him like some proverb about moths and flames and like he really cares how it goes.

Point is, radios are good in a very narrow set of circumstances that very much benefit him. Outside of that, well, outside of that and the issues start popping up. Because the problem is that as he’s transforming this radio into a broadcast station worth listening to (you couldn’t change the channel even if you tried), he never quite knows who’s listening in. Telly’s much more useful in that regard, he has to admit. Start the video feed and nobody has any doubts as to who’s running the show. But the point is that radio runs on invisibility. Everything’s silent up until he starts speaking. The sort of silence pins are supposed to drop in. Something tense and on the edge about it, as if the world could end after the commercial break and wouldn’t that be lovely?

But what if, and this is the sort of thing that keeps you up at night clutching some hideous stuffed animal. But what if he’s not listening? What if the signal gets clicked off before the chorus even gets started? What if he broadcasts into the abyss, and the abyss shrugs its shoulders, rolls over, and goes back to bed? The tense silence stretched and stretched until it spans galaxies, empty signals bouncing off dead stars and speaking nothing in return. Until nothing remains but the space between heartsbeats that always comes too quickly and too strongly and too inescapably.

Video next time, that’s for sure. He’s not taking any chances.

Current Characters: None.

Character: The Master
Fandom: I have several sources: Gallifreyan Society, Exiled Time Lords: the Series, Large Hams in the Universe and Where to Find Them
Character Notes:
History: He was born on Gallifrey a long time ago. He went mad when he was young and going by the name Koschei, after he looked into the Time Vortex. He was one of ten former friends at Prydon Academy, but that doesn't matter.

He grew up to be overindulgent in his plans, constantly hunted down The Doctor (no matter how many ugly mugs the pair of them went through), and failed again and again. Since his departure from Gallifrey he has regenerated several times, even when he shouldn't have. Why can't he just stay dead???

Last I heard he had been hurtling through space with a furious Time Lady that wanted to rip him limb from limb, but tossed him off her superior TARDIS, who knows where or when.
Personality: He's a giant ham. Too often, he gets tied up in his grand schemes to stop The Doctor with no regard to anyone else's plans. Especially important plans that require absolute discretion and masking from The Doctor.

He has no respect for other peoples' property. One time he stole my a brilliant chemist's rare and important chemical, as well as an important tin full of a genius experiment that works flawlessly, of course.

On the other hand, he has no respect for his own well-being. He's conceited enough to consider himself immortal. To make things worse, he should have died several times already, but he's managed to come back every single time.

In short, he's a stupid, attention-seeking cockroach.
Other: He wears a velvet suit. Who wears a velvet suit? Or perhaps he doesn't.
Additional Links: I have nothing further to share.

First Person (entry type):
Today, I will find the Doctor and whoever he may be travelling with now. The companion, or companions, are no matter to me. I am after the Doctor. He will be mine, once and for all. I have an ingenious plan to defeat him! What that is, I shouldn't say. Not yet. The time isn't right.

Third Person:
Must I really describe this blithering idiot? First I have to pretend to talk like him, now I must describe his actions and thought processes? Just look at him, he's one step in the evolutionary chain from human and cockroach in either direction.

No, I refuse. If you truly require a "third person sample", use you imagination or study him as he goes about his daily business.

Character: Aya-chan Fujimiya
Fandom: Weiss Kreuz
Character Notes:
Aya-chan grew up in a happy, normal family: two parents, and a loving older brother (Ran.) On her sixteenth birthday, Ran takes her out to a fair. From the little we get to see of her, it's clear that she's very cheerful and upbeat. She knows what she wants and isn't afraid to ask for it. From the way Ran allows her to drag him through the fair until she's found exactly what she wants for her birthday, and the banter between them, it is evident that they are very close.

However, that night, they arrive home to find their parents murdered. To make matters worse, just as they think they're out of harm's way, Aya-chan is hit by Takatori Reiji's car and placed in a comatose state. Set on avenging her and their parents, Ran takes on her name -- so that the memory of her suffering will be kept alive -- and joins Weiss. Her state is a very unique one, since even though she spends two years in a coma, Aya-chan does not age physically at all. This places her in horrible danger when a trio of cultists kidnap her from her hospital room so they can use her as a sacrifice. She is not aware of any of this.

Thankfully, Weiss arrives in time to save her, and Aya-chan awakes from her coma shortly after. She is not, however, reunited with her brother; she awakes beside strangers -- Manx, a woman who works for Kritiker, the organization that gives Weiss their orders, and Sakura, a girl who looks an awful like Aya-chan and is in love with Ran.

Aya-chan is never told what exactly happened in those two years, nor does anyone ever tell her how exactly Ran obtained the large sum of money that was required to keep her in her hospital room. Her brother also never comes back. She deals with the lack of knowing where her brother is or what he's been up to fairly well, all things considered. While it is very evident that she misses him and wishes to see him, Aya-chan doesn't let this deter her from going about her daily life. She picks up work with Sakura at the flower shop (Koneko) that she's told Ran also worked at, and also takes part-time classes to catch up. Despite all the uncertainties and difficulties that are placed on her, Aya-chan remains strong.

As all human beings do, there are times that she falls into sadness, thinking that she'll never meet Ran again, but Aya-chan doesn't allow herself to stay in those moods for very long. She remains cheerful and optimistic, and she carries on with her life. She comes to care a great deal about her co-worker Sakura, who is also the only person that she knows who knew Ran during the missing two years of Aya-chan's life. While there is a certain reassurance in knowing someone who is also invested in seeing Ran again, Aya-chan worries a great deal for her friend's happiness, and tries her best to help Sakura move on with her life.

There is a small part of her that really does wonder if Ran is avoiding her, and also if he's a good person. She knows that the brother she remembers is not a bad person, but Sakura did not tell her many details about what happened in the two years she was comatose, and the sudden ability Ran gained to pay off all of her hospital bills does seem suspicious. However, she really does believe in him, and wishes that he's doing alright, even if he can't come back to her. A year after she woke up from her coma, Sakura manages to get into a school in France, leaving Aya-chan to run the Koneko by herself.

First Person (entry type):
[ Typed; private to Ran ]
Oniichan,

I've heard that it's possible to reach you through this, but that it may be the you of a different time period. That sounds kind of silly, doesn't it? But that's what many of the people I've met through this claim. And it really doesn't hurt to try it out, does it?

I've been taking care of Koneko. It's nice here, and very peaceful. Though, I'd never have thought of you as a florist! Sakura-chan helped out a great deal for a while. She was very fond of you, you know. A girl's heart is a fragile thing, you should treat it a bit more carefully. She's in Paris now; she sends letters once in a while, and pictures too. It seems really beautiful there! I hope to be able to visit her there one day.

I hope you're doing well, wherever and whenever you are.

Aya

Third Person:
The shop doesn't open for another few hours, but Aya likes to be up early in the morning. There's a really nice, refreshing feeling about being able to greet the sun as it rises.

There are many rooms in the house, but she's the only one left here. It's quiet, and just a little bit lonely, but Aya's grown used to it over the years. It's been four years since Sakura left for France, after all. She makes her way downstairs, and checks on the flowers first. Sunlight pours into the small shop as she goes to open the curtains. Next, comes moving some of the plotted flowers outside. And then watering, and making sure that all of the flowers are healthy and thriving. It's not exactly meant to be a one-person job, but she doesn't mind, and she's got the time to do it. In fact, she spends a little extra time with each flower.

As she waters the plants, Aya wonders if this was how Ran had started off his days as well. She doesn't know much about the situation, but she does know that he'd lived in that very same house, and that there were three co-workers. Did they wake up early and work together? Or did they trade off? It's funny, but imagining how her brother spent his time in this shop with his three faceless co-workers helps make her feel a little closer to him. He's probably walked this exact path at one point...

She's about to head toward the back to grab a light breakfast, when she hears the door to the shop open. It won't be opening time for another hour, but Aya doesn't particularly mind helping out an early customer.

She turns, flashing a warm smile. "Welcome to Koneko. Is there anything I can help you with?"

Current Characters: Buffy Summers, Harumi Fujiyoshi, Takashi Natsume, Yuri Nakamura

Character: Kobato Hasegawa
Fandom: Boku wa Tomodachi ga Sukunai
Character Notes:
History: Kobato lives with her brother Kodaka, who she calls "An-chan." Their mother is deceased and their father is abroad for his work, so they live on their own together. Most days, when Kobato isn't at her middle school, she will sit at home and watch reruns and new episodes of her favorite anime, Full Metal Necromancer. As her brother begins to pay less attention to her and more attention to the Neighbors Club at is school, she begins to slowly get jealous that her brother isn't paying as much attention to her as he used to. Eventually, Kobato heads to the high school to see what her brother keeps getting distracted with, then ends up trying to save her brother in a virtual reality game.

Upon arriving at the Neighbors' Club, she sees Maria is acting as though Kodaka is her older brother and declares war on Maria as a vampire against a denizen of the church and joins the club officially, despite being in middle school. Since she has no friends, Yozora allows it, since the Neighbors' Club is a Club solely dedicated to helping people who have no friends make some.

Kobato follows the club around, going with them on their "club activities" as a member, though when it's hotter out she will stay home. That is, until the air conditioning breaks and she decides to brave the heat to make it to club, where there is still air conditioning.

Personality: Kobato is the younger sister of Kodaka. Of course, her true name is Reysis Vi Felicity Sumeragi, a true ancestor of the children of the night!

Only not really, she's just a young girl who happens to love her favorite anime called Full Metal Necromancer. about that character, to the point that she imitates the main character to the point of cosplay and pretending that tomato juice is the blood of virgins.

Kobato loves her older brother dearly, though she intentionally treats him like a servant. Making her dinner is "offerings" and even if she hates part of her dinner, she will eat it as long as Kodaka feeds it to her, suggesting that if it's for her brother, she'll definitely do it. She's got a huge brother complex and gets pretty jealous over her brother. She trusts her brother completely and doesn't have a problem doing things like running out completely naked to hug him if something goes wrong and she needs to cry on him. She'll also crawl into bed with him sometimes if she doesn't feel good.

Most of the time, she'll speak in a frivolous, bombast manner in order to make herself seem like a fancy vampire, but if she gets embarrassed or upset she'll easily slip into yelling or getting extremely shy. She does get somewhat possessive of her brother, continually getting into fights with Maria because of it. Outside of her quirks and determination to pretend she's a 10,000 year old vampire, she's a pretty average girl. Homework procrastination, hating hot weather, and trying to show that she can totally do that math problem even if it takes her the entire trip somewhere to figure it out just because her brother asked her to are some average things for her. For the most part her hobbies include sitting around watching TV and bothering An-chan.

Kobato frequently adds on an "evil" laugh of "kukuku" at the end or beginning of her sentences when she acts "in character" for her vampire self. This doesn't, by any means, mean that she knows what half the words she says mean or that they're correct. Ashtaroth? Or was it Astarot? Maybe Asutoro... Decrepit? Descript? Same thing probably.

Other: -She has a stuffed rabbit as part of her cosplay of the main character of Fullmetal Necromancer.
-She frequently argues with Maria, but she even more frequently runs away terrified from Sena.

Enjoy this musical compilation of things Kobato says.
Kobato needs constant rescuing from Sena.
Wiki for Haganai. She is the 4th character listed.

First Person (entry type): Kukuku, it would appear as though a number of my brethren have already infiltrated the likes of your community! Ahh, the powers of darkness are already here but haven't moved as they were waiting for me, the ancient ancestor of the children of the night, Reysis Vi Felicity Sumeragi! Kukuku, prepare yourselves and offer me the blood of your virgins in order to sate my--

W-Wait, I didn't mean actual blood... An-chan usually just gives me tomato juice... --A-Ah, no, I mean..! [ She holds up her hand, two fingers in a sideways V shape before her red contact covered eye. ] Kukuku, I will accept your offering, mortal! May the portals to the dark abyss be merciful toward you in exchange for this noble sacrifice!

Third Person:
Her brother was late. Kobato had decided not to go to club with him today. The air conditioning had been fixed and the travel time between here and school was much less desireable than she would appreciate, but if Kodaka was going to start coming home later than normal she would have to start bearing the weather.

Kobato didn't really want to deal with it, but since there was air conditioning both at home and in the Neighbors' Club meeting room, the only downside for going was that travel time in the heat. Kobato slumped on the couch slightly, her skirt catching on the fabric just slightly. No one was here right now so it didn't really matter though. Still, Kobato couldn't help but pout at her dilemma. Be with An-chan or avoid the weather? If she didn't go, that idiot Maria was going to hog him all to herself...

Maybe she would start going every day now...

The blonde looked to the side, hugging her stuffed rabbit to her chest as the commercials on the television interrupted her show. Double downer. Kobato pulled her knees onto the couch, kneeling on the cushions as she placed her hands on the spine of the couch to stare at the door with an air of tumultous debate. Just then, the door cracked open and Kobato swung back to her sitting position on the couch, back straight, and looked over to the door as though she hadn't just been wishing her An-chan would come home.

"Kukuku, my kindred hath returned after much delay! What offerings do you bring me to compensate for such an admonishment of an ancient one such as myself?"

Oh good, he brought home takoyaki!

Character: The Once-ler
Fandom: The Lorax
Character Notes:

History:

Once-ler grew up in the countryside, in a small farm with an uncaring mother, a nasty aunt, his older brothers and an uncle who never really cared much for him or gave him any sort of emotional support. He decided to leave the farm so he could find the perfect material to produce his latest invention, The Thneed.

His journey ended when he found a valley filled with a particularly special sort of tree (that are softer than silk, smell butterfly milk and are very durable), the Truffula trees. He chopped down one of the trees, invoking the presence of a creature named The Lorax, the guardian of the forest who speaks for the trees. They didn’t get along at first and the Lorax nearly killed him by accident when he tried to force the Once-ler to leave the Valley, but they became friends eventually.

The Once-ler kept his promise to the Lorax and didn’t cut any more trees even when his Thneed business started to be successful, instead he just started harvesting the tufts at the top of the Truffula tree. He then decided to call his family both for help and to show them what he managed to accomplish and everything went downhill from there. His mother insisted that cutting off the tree will be faster than harvesting the tree and the Once-ler agreed to please her. He started making a lot of money really fast and ignored the advice of the Lorax about what his growing company was doing to the animals and the environment. The once-ler became a greedy, money-maker business man and didn’t care about anything or anybody else.

When the last Truffula tree was cut, his company was condemned and his family left. The Once-ler finally realized how wrong he was and how he destroyed all he had with his greediness. He became a bitter old man who regret his past decisions and locked himself in his house away from the world. It wasn’t until a young kid named Ted came to ask him about the trees that the Once-ler was able to share his story and made him understand the importance of what they lost. He gave Ted the last Truffula seed and told him that unless someone really cares about what’s happening nothing will change. Later on while the Once-ler is taking care of the growing new trees, the Lorax comes back to the valley and they finally make amends.

The Once-ler | The Lorax movie | 2/3

[personal profile] howbadcanibe 2012-04-09 11:48 pm (UTC)(link)
Personality:

Once-ler he starts off as someone who just wants some recognition for his hard work, especially from his family, but losses his path as the plot progresses. The lack of support from his family, their constants jabs at his inventions, the years of emotional abuse, and general absence of affection towards him turned the Once-ler into a nervous individual eager to change the world and be a successful business man. He grew up believing himself a failure and carried that stigma for most of his life. All of his conversations with his mother were hurtful, humiliating, or insincere. Despite all of his mother's actions towards him, he still tried to gain her appreciation and recognition.

Even if his family had no faith in him, he managed to stay positive and wanted to show the world his revolutionary invention: the Thneed. He had always been a creative and inventive individual that believes his creations could change the world. He's an optimistic guy with big dreams and a bit of a child at times. He does things that might seem careless but his heart is always in everything he does.

He does have morals and at first listened to Lorax when he told him cutting the trees was bad. His morals waver later on, however. At the very beginning his interests were purely more about recognition and appreciation rather than making money. He was young and naïve, rather clueless and uncaring, like most of the young people who try to be successful in business. His worse traits were that he was rather selfish and careless, probably due to his family behavior, and his tendency to be a deadpan snarker that increased as he got older.

The Once-ler character is really expressive when it comes to his body language and the way he carries himself. He gesticulates a lot when he talks, fidgets, especially when he's agitated. His voice gets high pitched when he’s excited and deeper and raspier when he’s becoming greedier. He also has a short temper on occasion. His negative personality traits come out more with his company's growth. As his fortune increased he become extremely greedy, uncaring and selfish. He went mad with power and slightly lost his grip on reality. He tries to rationalize his bad choices and pushed away those who really cared about him to the point that all of them left him.

The "How Bad Can I Be?" song sequence shows a change in perspective on the trees, during which the Once-ler still insists he isn't the bad guy of the story. He has all what he ever wanted, to be successful to be recognized. However, the other songs included in the Original Soundtrack that were cut from the final movie express his change of behavior better. The song ‘Biggering’ is about how he no longer is satisfied with less and shows that his actions are not about pleasing his family anymore but are for selfish satisfaction and pride.

Prior to switching to pure self-satisfaction and greed, he never stopped needing approval from others or needing to be in his mother's favor. His entire moral decay started because he took her advice about cutting the trees. It’s remarkable that all of Once-ler friends are actually animals (and The Lorax, whatever that is), and he doesn’t seem to have much of a relationship with any human being that is not part of his family.

It's not until the last tree is cut, his only real friends he ever had leave him, and his family rejects him (not like she ever really cared about him in the first place) that he realized how far the madness had gone. He locked himself in his home for decades, thinking about his mistakes and seeking redemption.

Other:
He plays guitar, enjoys knitting, drawing, inventing strange things, and loves marshmallows.

Current Characters: Cpt.Jack Sparrow, Steve Rogers, Haruhi Suzumiya, Light Yagami, TinkerBell, Jane Foster, Aang

Character: Babydoll
Fandom: Sucker Punch
Character Notes:
History: The movie is kind of a mindfuck so for this history I'm going to state it as the movie presents it/Baby imagines it.
0 = Reality.
1 = Illusion aka The Brothel
2 = Dream Sequences: Samurais/Nazi Zombies/Terminators on a Train.

0. Babydoll's mother passes away-- presumably from some illness. The abusive stepfather sneaks The Will open, finds out everything got left to the two daughters, and gets drunk in a fit. He goes after Babydoll first but thinks to go after her little sister instead, locking Baby in her room. The sister runs and locks herself in a closet. Baby climbs out the damn window in the rain, gets a gun out of the stepfather's desk, and aims it at the stepfather. He doesn't think she'll fire, so she does past his head. The shot accidentally bounces off a pipe and hits her sister, killing her. Stepfather calls the cops while Baby flees to her mother's grave. They sedate her, following the Stepfather's story that she's totally unstable and killed her sister. He takes her to The Lennox House, an all girls asylum.

0. Stepfather signs the paperwork all halfassed. He's paying off Blue, an orderly who I thought was head of security the way everyone fucking listens to him, to get her in there and give her a lobotomy so the police's investigation can't ask her the truth later and he gets away with everything. Blue's going to forge, Dr.Gorski's signature to get the lobotomy done. She has 5 days till she gets lobotomized.

0. Day One: She observes everything and is put on mostly cleaning duty. During therapy, she breaks down and---

1. Everything is now viewed as a brothel. Kinda like a Moulin Rouge-y place where they dance and then you buy to spend time with them. Babydoll, given her name now because of how tiny and fragile she looks, is brought in by The Priest (0: Stepfather) from the orphanage. Blue is in charge of the brothel and is going to save Babydoll for the High-Roller (The Doctor doing the lobotomy.) Sweet Pea, the star of the show, wants nothing to do with showing her around so it goes to Rocket, Sweet Pea's little sis. She shows her around and explains what a whore house does.

1. She gets introduced to the other girls -- Amber and Blondie, who is not blonde.

1. That night, she waits until everyone is asleep to cry by herself alone in the bathroom. Rocket hears her and comes to comfort her. NEXT DAY: Cleaning duty in the hall. Rocket is in the kitchen on ...potato...duty? Anyway, Rocket tries to steal some chocolate and the cook catchers her. He goes to rape her as punishment?? Um. Baby hears it, comes in there, grabs a knife, and puts it to the cook's throat to save her. The cook backs the fuck off and Rocket and her get out of there.

1. Dance lessons! Baby is called over by Gorski and told to dance. She's nervous/shy/doesn't want to. Gorski tells her not to be afraid and gives her a pretty motivating speech to get her to dance. She starts dancing and--

2. She's in the mountains in Ancient Japan at a temple in the mountains or something? This is like a dream sequence where a Wise Man tells her the items she needs to escape okay. He gives her a handgun and a katana. To get out, he tells her, she needs 5 items: Map, fire, knife, key, ....and some mystery thing she can only figure out later that's a deep-sacrifice.

2. She fights THREE GIANT STONE SAMURAIS.

1. Her dance was effin' amazing apparently. That night-- Baby tells the girls she's going to escape. Sweet Pea isn't so cool with the idea but Rocket is all over that and so is Blondie and Amber. But Sweet Pea tells her to STFU till the next day-- where Rocket tells her how Baby totally saved her from a rapist cook. WELP.

1. Baby shares her plan to get the map, fire, knife, and key. The map is in Blue's office, the security whatever dude has a lighter, the cook has the knife, and Blue has a master key around his neck. INITIATE PLAN! Sweet Pea goes to get the map from Blue's office (by photocopying it) while Baby distracts him and everyone else with her friggin' sweet dancing skills. Dancing dancing-

2. It's WWII! Only against Zombie Steampunk Nazi's. The girls are a special team or whatever. The Wise Man/Captain briefs them on the plan to get the map from Zombie Steampunk Nazi Field Commander's tent. SO THEY GET THIS USING TEAMWORK. Oh and Amber has a Mecha with a bunny on it. It looks like this.

1. Success! Blue thinks her dance was so pimp he wants her to dance for the Mayor (0: That old guy with the lighter). The girls go and tape the map under a drawer to hide it.

1. The Mayor is Amber's client. INITIATE PLAN! While Baby does the distraction dance, Amber's sitting on his lap and sneaks the lighter out of his breast pocket by pulling a kiss-the-neck-rub-the-cheek-trick.

2. MEDIEVAL FIGHT! They're storming a castle! The Wise Man tells them the plan. They jump out of the plan Amber's flying, steal magic fire stones out of the baby dragon's neck, and have to not wake the mother. Only they totally wake the mother and Baby stabs that ugly mother dragon in the head.

1. Success! Amber got the lighter and they tape it under the drawer with the map. They start to celebrate after but Blue interrupts and lets them know he's on to them. He also lets Baby know he'd totally have his way with her if he wasn't about to make a ton of money off her. YIKES.

1. Sweet Pea wants to cancel escape plans for everyone's safety but everyone else is going to do it still. ANYWAY Part Three of the Plan! The plan is that they lock themselves in the kitchen with the cook, Baby does her distraction dance, Rocket sits on his lap for double distraction, and Sweet Pea sneaks the knife off his belt. ...Blondie never shows up with Baby's music though so they have to use a radio with a strip in the cord. They knock a pot of water and potatoes on the floor -- and the water slowly creeps towards that cord.

2. IT'S THE FUTURE! Or something. Amber is flying a helicopter. The Wise Man briefs them that there's a bomb on a train filled with robots that's going to blow up the city unless they deactivate and steal it in time. They're given jetpacks. Baby, Rocket, and Sweet Pea drop to the drain and fight fight fight. They deactivate the bomb, but one robot was left semi-alive and breaks Rocket's jetpack and reactivates the bomb and---

1. The music got cut off from the water hitting the cord. The cook snaps out of the distraction and notices Sweet Pea stealing the knife off him. The first knife gets smacked away and lands near Amber's feet. The cook pulls out his second knife and goes to stab her. Rocket dives in the way and-- The music picks up again.

2. Rocket cuts Babydoll and the helicopter's attachment to the train off and then makes Sweet Pea's jetpack go off so she's off the train. The train reaches the city and the bomb goes off with Rocket inside.

1. Rocket got stabbed by the cook and dies in Sweet Pea's arms. Blue busts in and is very pissed with these girls and the cook. He sends Sweet Pea to be locked in a closet while having Baby and Amber go off to prepare for the show. Amber took the knife with her and taped it under the drawer.

1. The High Roller has arrived. Blue comes into the dressing room to lecture them about how he's in charge and escaping is stupid and how dare you bitches. It's revealed Blondie told Blue the girl's plan while the rest of the girls were in the kitchen. He shoots Amber in the head. He then shoots Blondie because he hates snitches. He gets everyone else out of the room to perform and keeps Baby behind and tries to have his way with her. She pulls the knife out from under the drawer and stabs him in the neck/shoulder -- it's like right where the neck meets the shoulder. She then kicks him down, steals the key off his neck, grabs the rest of the items, and starts making her escape.

0/1. She gets Sweet Pea out of the closet, lets her know it's just them now. They light the closet on fire then make their escape. The guards/customers are outside. Babydoll realizes they're not both going to make it out so she tells Sweet Pea to go. She distracts the guards/customers by kicking one of them in the nuts and Sweet Pea slips out the gate and escapes to freedom.

0. Babydoll is taken and given a lobotomy. She accepted the fate though and freaked the Doctor out by giving him a look like she wanted it right as he performed it. Dr.Gorski realizes the signature on the forms isn't her own. Blue tries to have his way with Baby again but is turned off by her vegetableness post-lobotomy. Dr.Gorski has him arrested and as the cops drag him off he screams that he'll tell them about The Stepfather's bribe in order to lower his sentence. THE END.

"That Was TL;DR" or "Jackie, I don't get it."
An Evil Stepfather is pissed off his dead wife didn't leave him shit so he goes to take it out on his step-daughters. One retaliates and accidentally kills the other by doing so. The Evil Stepfather sends that daughter to an corrupt asylum to get a lobotomy so she can't tell the cops shit about him being evil or that she was acting in self-defense.
She kind of loses it in there and views everything as a brothel because having sexuality on display scares her because of the Stepfather's abuse. She bases her escape plan on something an old guy told her in a dream she had where she fought giant stone samurais.
She makes some friends and plans to escape with them but one gets stabbed by a cook and the corrupt orderly gets rid of the other two to make examples of them and scare everyone from escaping. Babydoll stabs the corrupt guy in charge, starts a fire, and tries to escape with the only sane friend left but there are guards outside. She distracts them, the friend escapes, and she ends up getting that lobotomy and deciding that can be her escape from reality. A Doctor finds out about the situation and has the corrupt guy arrested, who then rats out the stepfather. Baby gets to live happily inside her own head. THE END.

It's a weird movie.

Personality:
"Everyone has an Angel. A Guardian who watches over us. We can't know what form they'll take One day, Old man, Next day, Little girl. But don't let appearances fool you, They can be as fierce as any dragon."

Babydoll is a protector. Don't let her tiny look, blonde pigtails, and sweet name fool you. In the very first scene, the narrator is Sweet Pea and she speaks of guardian angels coming in many forms (on the list: little girls) wither you want them to or not -- And that's her. In this same first scene that we're introduced to her, she's standing up to an abuser to save someone else (that being against her step-father to protect her little sister.) It doesn't end well but she tried anyway. She plans to escape and she lets anyone who wants out to come with her -- and acts as a leader and tries to protect all of them. When the plan looks like it's failing, she tells Rocket that she wouldn't want to do anything that puts them in danger even if not doing it meant she was going to have to accept her fate with the high-roller. At the end, only her and Sweet Pea are left and there's no way out-- so she sacrifices herself for Sweet Pea. She's telling this to girls she has only known for a week, which shows how serious she acts when it comes to protecting others and how willing she is to sacrifice.

"Did you lose your fight,huh?"
"No, I just found it."

As for herself, she does not need to be protected. She's a fighter. FIGHT FIGHT FIGHT. She's resilient, strong, and she will stab people in the neck and burn the place down if she has to. It's an impossible situation but this girl is determined as all hell once it's pointed out she has everything she needs to fight. She is not letting anyone get her. Anyone. She planned to escape before the other girls even chipped in and she had people to protect. Immediately on the way into the asylum, she's carefully observing everything and making notes of how she could get out. She's clever. Her moves are carefully calculated. Others come first though. To her, she lost everything so she fights for those who have something left.

"Just one week here and she stabbed an orderly, started a fire, and helped another patient to escape."

Moving on, her entire past before the horrible things that happen to her is a mystery. She's kind of an enigma. Perhaps she did happy funtime girly things and skipped through fields sniffing flowers or whatever--- but she doesn't share it. She's a quiet girl. Because as strong as she is and as much as she fights, she's a really shy person. Her eyes are downcast most of the time, she speaks softly and usually only when spoken to first, she gets uncomfortable in her own skin, and she's withdrawn. And for all the trauma she endures, she keeps it to herself. She doesn't want to show anyone how week she is and waits until everyone is asleep to cry alone in the bathroom.

"You have all the weapons you need. Now fight."

Her trauma is very subtle outwardly since she doesn't want to express it to others but boy oh boy is it there. She's in a deep depression. She has piles of guilt she carries for accidentally killing her sister and later for her escape plan getting others killed. She lost everything and is put into a place that's horrible and corrupt and going to lobotomize her all during the course of a week. She breaks down during a therapy session because really how could you not? To cope, she ends up with her own reality. Then she ends up with her own reality WITHIN her own reality because of how messed up the situation is -- but she's determined enough to manage to keep her goals even with how fragile her mind gets.

Other:
+ She gets signed in as "M. Reeas" by her stepdad, which is presumably her real name. Let's see how long in game she can not tell anyone her name so I don't have to figure out what the M stands for.

First Person (entry type): [ voice ]

[ The girl can be heard taking a deep breath before starting. She's carefully choosing her words. ] For everyone that offered an escape.... A worldhop away from here. I really appreciate it. Truely. It's the nicest anyone's ever offered. I'd go with you... [ She trails off a bit. Clearly there's a 'BUT' in there. ]

I have to stay. [ a pause ] For now. I just can't go now. The girls they- I can help get them out. I don't know if you can take people not on here and they can't leave my world altogether. Sweet Pea and Rocket still have family they could go to. So.

We'll keep with the plan. And then after, when I'm free from this place... [ She pauses again, like she's doubting how possible her next words are ] And if there's still an offer to escape...

I wouldn't have anywhere to go from here.

Third Person:
Turn off your mind, relax and float downstream...

They had this in the bag. Babydoll watched Rocket and Sweet Pea while waving Amber over with the helicopter to hook it up. They got the entire thing set up. It was deactivated, they were ready to lift it, and there was an enormous relief that after a couple of robots to fight this would be done so easily. Everything exactly as planned. Knife is a check. One step closer to completing the mission.

It is knowing, it is knowing...
But then the bomb didn't budge. Baby's heart stopped for a moment. Rocket forgot to unscrew one bolt. Baby's heart started racing since something was wrong. Just one. This is fine. Now they could get it. A robot wasn't dead, had shoved Rocket aside. Baby quickly shot it in the head but it had already reactivated the bomb and Rocket was sitting there with a broken jetpack. But. They can still work with this. If they could---

It is not dying, it is not dyyyyyyyyyyyyyy-
Nothing.

The music stopped. A horrible panic hit her and she couldn't move. But suddenly everything else did. She was plunged back into reality. Everything whisked away and turned into something she didn't want to see. The cook they were trying to sneak a knife off of had caught them. She doesn't want to be here. He pulled out a knife and was swinging it in Sweet Pea's direction. Things were going really slow the way she saw them and all she could hear was the music track lagging and the radio sparking and she wanted the music to just start back up so this wouldn't happen. Rocket was diving in front of her sister to save her from the knife. It can't be happening if they're not here. The music started up. This isn't the real part. If they're back there Rocket is safe. Baby clenched her eyes shut-

But listen to the color of your dream. It is not living, it is not living.

-and when she opened them she was back on the train. Only she couldn't even save her there. Couldn't escape. And reality hit.

Character: Yuri Lowell
Fandom: Tales of Vesperia
Character Notes:
History: Having lost both of his parents before he could even remember, Yuri Lowell was raised by the people of the Lower Quarter, the poorman's district of the Imperial Capital of Zaphias. He grew up knowing the way of the streets, and seeing the world through a dog eats dog view. He hated the state the Lower Quarter was in, and he and childhood friend Flynn Scifo decided to join the Imperial Knights, in hopes of changing the treatment the people receieved under the Empire's rule, and protecting that which they held dear.

He was 19 was he was first instated as a knight, joining a brigade under the command of Nylen Fedrock, whom with he had begun to look up to, almost sharing a father-son connection with, . They were assigned with the task of investigating a recent surge of monster attacks in the Imperial city of Shizontania. During his time in the brigade, he learned of how little the knights could do about the corruption among the higher powers, and after an incident that could have been avoided if the Commandant of the Imperial Knights had actually taken it seriously, that left his Captain Nylen dead, Yuri left the knights, disgusted by the power structure of the empire. He went back to live in the lower quarter, where he spent the next two years in a lazy slump, no longer knowing what to do with himself.

Personality: Many would describe Yuri as unsocial and generally rude. For the most part, he's exactly that. He doesn't like to filter his words to others, often times coming off as mean when he's just speaking his mind. Some may find this honesty nice, while others will find it slightly enraging. Despite all this "brutal" honesty, he actually has a hard time expressing is true feelings, and will rarely admit when he's actually sad or worried, or even grateful at times. He has no qualms letting his anger or sarcasm show, however, and that's partially why so many would quickly label him as a bit of a jerk. He also may come off as anti-social, again, due to his upbringing, he isn't the best around other people. He likes to make believe that he's just fine on his own. But past all his harsh words and facades, he really means well, and wouldn't honestly hurt someone if they hadn't done something to deserve it.

Having grown up as part of the lower class, he also has little regard for social heirarchy, and will speak to a king just as he would speak to a passerby on the street just as he would to higher, powerful force of nature. He doesn't care what or who you are, if he doesn't like you, he's going to show it. Likewise, if you're one of his friends, he'll go out of his way to protect you, even if he wouldn't like to admit it. He's more mature than most young men his age, due to the kind of harsh life he's lived, orphaned at a young age and raised in the lower, poorer parts of town, often opressed by the nobility and knights. He has a strong sense of justice, and believes the wrong should always be punished, and that weak should be protected. He absolutely hates the unfair treatment the empire gives to the average person, and goes so far as to even fight the knights and local law enforcement over such things as taxes (Yuri has also been thrown into jail so often that he treats it like a joke).

He does have an immature side to him though. He gets along great with children, and shows a lot of love for them. He also isn't above making jokes out of situations and pulling pranks. When he's confident that he can get out of a situation (which he almost always is), he'll easily treat it like a game.

Character: Ezio Auditore da Firenze
Fandom: Assassin's Creed
Character Notes:
History:

PRE-CANON:

❧ Born into a noble family in Florence in 1459 AD
❧ Second oldest of four children, and also the most mischievous
❧ Brothers were Federico and Petruccio, sister was Claudia
❧ Educated to read and write, and know his history, though he was more the type to play hooky out on the rooftops above
❧ Learned parkour from a very young age
❧ Capable of holding his own in a fist-fight. His father was probably responsible for teaching him how to defend himself from a young age
❧ Oftentimes was a delivery boy for his father's work
❧ Lived a normal life
❧ Had an outlet that consisted an interest in vaginas
❧ Caretaker of his famiglia and their pride when it came to serious business

START OF ASSASSIN'S CREED II:

❧ Ezio has a longtime opposition against another noble in Florence, Vieri di Pazzi, and he has challenged him more than once to stand and fight for what he thinks is right, and Ezio knows to be wrong
❧ Had noticed his father was definitely in the middle of something, and meant to tell him about it, but never bothered to confront him about it
❧ Has a girlfriend named Cristina Vespucci, whom he visits regularly through windows and often woos right into bed with him
❧ Currently he is coming up with a plan on confronting Vieri, and making him face Ezio and see the error of his ways

Personality: On first appearance, and for a lack of better words, Ezio Auditore is a complete jerk. And an asshole. At the bright and young age of seventeen, he is the epitome of immaturity when it comes to a young man. Sleeping with women (when he already has a girlfriend), running from trouble and causing his family to get gray hairs, standoffish and very confrontational to those he opposes- these are all things he does and he keeps doing, because despite being a noble, Ezio has his own method of doing things. And most of the time, they tend to get him into trouble. He doesn't seem to care what the repercussions are, or how it soils the name of the Auditore, but as long as it works for him, then it's good. That's not to say he purposely makes trouble, it just tends to find him because of his mouth and his rambunctious ways.

Along with the habit of being a troublemaker, he is a ladies man, and will flirt with just about any pretty girl he sees, sometimes even going to bed with them, despite being tied to Cristina. To him, love is all about sex, it isn't about commitment, and therefore it doesn't bother him if he sleeps around, as long as she doesn't know. Therefore if asked, he'll find excuses and other walkarounds to avoid answering the tough questions, as he really doesn't want to answer them or be put in a difficult spot. Avoidance and ignorance are something he plays on, acting like the dumb boyfriend if he screws up or does something wrong, and gets caught for it. Giving someone puppy eyes to make it up to them is one of his many ruses.

He is arrogant and highly opinionated, and very vocal in his words. If he wants you to know something, he'll literally stand in your way until you get it. If others don't want to listen, he'll find ways to make them listen, because he is Ezio Auditore, and HDU not listen to him. He's more than capable of being a leader, and his words always tend to stir people into action, regardless of whether or not they are on a side, or the sidelines. While he may not always say the smartest things, or the most... well, let's just call it "formal" for his time, he has the right idea.

Yet for all his arrogance and dumb teenage ways, Ezio has a bold yet gentle heart. He openly shows his emotions and how much he cares for others, oftentimes going out of his own way to make sure things are made better, usually casting aside his wants in the matter. Though still influenced by his young years, he is mostly selfless, taking on the burdens of friends and family to make sure they are fine. To put it simply, if you get on his good side, he is that derpy teenage brother who will fight for you no matter the cost. He is loyal to the point of where it hurts, and if you choose to double-cross him--

Well, let's just say it doesn't end pretty. Ever.

Other: He'll be coming in via very early ACII canon. Over time I'm planning to use different journals for each era he's in, so I'll be updating the taken list and the OOC comm when that happens.

First Person (entry type): [Well, someone sounds a little amused.]

Una domanda, comunità. What exactly would you define as an "acceptable outlet?" My mother is half convinced that I do not do anything except my father's tasks, and that I need to start taking interest in some. I have already told her that I have plenty, but for some reason, the ones I have she doesn't seem too open to accepting.

[Ezio, vaginas really aren't what people would call "acceptable" in any era.]

So tell me, as a noble, what do you think would fit the description? I have no interest in books, and unless I need to send something to someone, writing is not an interest either. That leaves me with few options, I think. Forse.

[He pauses, thinking, and running over ideas.]

Perhaps father would know. Or, at least, give me ideas. Mother is only going to suggest more studying, and Claudia is only going to echo her decisions. I doubt Federico or Petruccio would give much assistance either- at least the kind my mother is looking for.

[And whoop, there he goes, muttering in Italian about how can women not be considered "outlets," they are a perfectly good example of one, etc etc]

Third Person:

The streets of Firenze were busy today. Well, they were always busy nowadays, ever since there had been a revival of art and culture. Whether it was something new to see, something different to study, or even an ideal being brought to light, these days everything was changing. Not that he minded, of course. Ezio enjoyed having adventure in his life, after all. What good was it to settle down so early when he had so much life and living ahead of him to take? Places to go, people to see, women to love... it was all the same, yet in so many different colors and avenues he was sure it would keep him occupied for a long while.

Though things were busy, it often meant the vie were crowded. Which is why he chose to stay to the rooftops more than ever. It was a talent his father had taught him when he was young, and something both he and Federico enjoyed taking after, even if he had told them otherwise. There was something about the open sky, the way the tiles slid against his feet, how his heart pounded with each and every leap made and tumble ventured, that he could never replace by walking the cobblestone below.

Things were different, Ezio thought. Either by his mother choosing new paintings to display at home, or hiring a new artist to possibly do a new portrait of the famiglia, to his father meeting with a new man, someone called Uberti, to Petruccio asking for feathers. Claudia had a cheating boyfriend, Federico had challenged him to climb the cathedral as fast as possible, and Cristina still wanted to see him when the day was done. Yes, it was different, but not unwelcome. And for once, he wouldn't complain.

This was the life for him, the life of simplicity in being nobility, and he wouldn't have it any other way.

Akira Inugami | Wolf Guy - Part 2

[personal profile] not_so_big_and_bad 2012-04-14 01:40 am (UTC)(link)
Character Notes:
History:
Akira Inugami was born to a pure-blood werewolf mother, and a human father. In his youth, his father hid Akira and his mother away from the world at large, using his family's wealth and influence to provide for them and keep them safe. They moved around many times, always to more and more remote locales, the last of which was in the wilds of Alaska, when Akira was around six or seven years old. It was a well-isolated area, right next to a Timber Wolf sanctuary. Akira's mother was his entire world, and he left her side very rarely. The only friends he had were the wolves that roamed around their cabin. For a time, they were very happy.

One day, while Akira was out, humans he didn't recognize came. Humans in unmarked suits and attack vehicles, with a great cache of high-powered weapons. They destroyed Akira's home, setting it ablaze, then murdered his father and took his mother away. Akira never knew why. The men told him nothing but that he was a "useless half-breed" and filled him with bullet holes, leaving him for dead in the snowy tundra. He woke up just after they left, his regeneration kicking in for the first time and saving his life, much to his own surprise.

After being stranded in the Alaskan wilds for several months and living with the wolves, his extended family finally found him. They took him back to Japan, where his Aunt took responsibility for him. She was shocked several years later, when he changed right in front of her, transforming in front of the full moon. Still, he was family, so she kept his secret. He bounced around from school to school for the next few years, never finding his place in any town he went to. His travels were extensive, but no place offered peace.

At around age 15, Akira arrived at a brand new school. Hakutoku Academy. One of those troubled schools, that tries to pretend like everything is perfectly fine on the inside. The kind of place that just sweeps problems away, rather than deal with them head-on. Where the good kids desperately hope the bad ones don't notice them, as they just try to make it through the year. In other words, one of the many examples of poor school leadership that currently plague Japan. Full of adults who don't want to accept responsibility for anything. When Akira arrived, he immediately asserted himself, making fools of the local thugs, and an enemy of their leader, Dou Haguro. He also met Akiko Aoshika, his teacher, who turned out to be a woman he'd accidentally saved on the previous night. Several other people also entered his life. Kimura, the class president and honor student. Ryuuko, Haguro's crazed, violent girlfriend. Chiba, Haguro's second-in-command, and the only one amongst his ilk with a sense of honor.

The two had an immediate, unspoken connection, though Akira tried to deny it and play things off. He even went as far as to deny ever seeing her before. Later, she surprise-visited Akira, right on the night of the full moon. Caught in a moment of emotional instability, Akira lost control of his ability, exposing her to his transformed state. He barely managed to convince her it was a special mask he was wearing, and changed the subject by bringing up her invasion of his privacy. It was enough of a tirade to chase her away. Unfortunately, she was chased right into the path of a rapist. Oddly enough, he was stopped in the act by a runaway lion, who had escaped the nearby zoo. Half-mad and enraged, it butchered the man, and Akira arrived in time to stop it from doing the same to Aoshika. In a one-sided battle, Akira was finally forced to kill the beast by quickly snapping its neck.

Meanwhile, the escalation between Akira and Haguro's gang continued. The first major crux of it came when Haguro assigned one of his men to break up a school assembly. With WEAPONS. Already enraged over Akira crippling his brother, the lackey was all too happy to do so. The resulting frakas killed 82 people and destroyed the school gymnasium. The only reason it wasn't worse was due to Akira's intervention and subsequent killing of the perpetrator. Akira blamed himself for the incident, realizing that his own flippant behavior toward Haguro's crew exacerbated their already violent natures.

After the afore-mentioned school shooting, Akira had really had enough of Haguro. Conflicted and angry, he confronted him, only to be cut short by assassins after Haguro's life. He stayed out of sight, watching the battle from above, only stepping in when he lost patience. Akira transformed, taking out the last assassins and then turning his sights on Haguro. He showed Dou what he really was, transforming in front of him and terrorizing him to the point of insanity. Humiliating him into know just how weak he was, compared to Akira. Then, with a final taunt, he left Haguro and the entire town, choosing to settle elsewhere.

While walking around his new home range, he met Chiba by chance. He had left Haguro and school, choosing to live a different life than one in Haguro's service. For former enemies, the two had more in common than Akira had thought. They talked over lunch, with Chiba telling him of the changes that had occurred since he left school. Of course, Haguro didn't like this one bit, seeing as Chiba was a former su. He captured and tortured Chiba near to death out of sheer anger and jealousy. He left Chiba in front of the hospital Akira was at, beaten, raped, and missing his tongue. Frustrated by further guilt, Akira gave Chiba his blood to help him survive. Little did he know that it did save his life, but it also turned Chiba into a revenge-fueled monster. A human with super-human ability and a raging bloodlust. A monster thirsting for revenge on the one who brutalized him. After a confrontation that left a trail of collateral damage, Haguro barely managed to kill the transformed, monstrous Chiba. This only solidified his focus on destroying Akira, now convinced that it was his destiny to kill monsters, and that Akira was a threat to the superiority of mankind. To draw him back and into a final showdown, he kidnapped Aoshika, who had just realized her feelings for Akira, and had her raped on camera. He used the video to force Akira to come after him, putting him through a horrible gauntlet, and using Akira's weakness on the New Moon to his advantage.

Powerless, yet determined, Akira fought his way through dogs, traps, explosives, and crazed gunmen at Haguro's compound. He freed Aoshika, and the two of them made their way out, only for Haguro to confront them. Thus began the final duel of the two. After a series of trading strikes, Haguro had gained the upper hand. The combination of the New Moon, Akira's heavy blood-loss, and the fatigue of his muscles was too great a disadvantage. Haguro began to take his time, slicing off bits of Akira with his sword, deciding to kill him by inches. He cut off his left arm, and the fingers on his remaining hand, crippled his leg, and drove his sword through Akira's chest.

Just when all seemed lost, Akiko's desperation triggered something inside of Akira, forcing a transformation. He rose, driving Haguro into a fit of fear at seeing the boy he thought dead rise yet again, and in his monstrous state. Akira merely marched forward as Haguro came to him, embracing him and allowing the sword to pierce his own chest. Thus Haguro fell, having finally come to terms with his own fear and jealousy of Akira, his soul metaphorically dragged to Hell by all the lives he had destroyed.

Akira's power finally fizzled as he fell into Akiko's arms, with the cops and medics arriving just in time. They took the two away to separate hospital areas. Akiko, aching to see Akira again, begged his Aunt to be allowed to visit. She ended up flying her all the way to Alaska, to wait in the place Akira's memories were strongest. The wolf sanctuary. Akira, on the other hand, woke up in a completely alien facility. No mere hospital, but a high security research facility. His struggle was only just beginning.

Character: Eridan Ampora
Fandom: Homestuck
Character Notes:
History:As a forewarning, I wrote a lot of Eridan's history into his personality while writing his personality so, apologies for the shortness.

ONCE UPON A TIME, in the land of Alternia there lived little grey skinned children with candy-corn horns called trolls. Their culture is ruled by the hemospectrum caste system which divides the trolls worth in their society based on blood. Like a rainbow, you have red-orange-yellow-green as the peasants, the blue as the noblemen, the purple as the royal-nobles and then you have the one troll to rule them all who has the highest pigment of blood color to determine their right to the throne. But, a simpler divination among the trolls is the fact that some of them are land dwellers (peasantry up to the grandest high blood) and sea dwellers (any troll with fins and gills). Eridan is the later, with purple blood as well as the aforementioned gills and fins.

Because of Eridan's rank, he has always been better off than most trolls because he gets the privilege of terrorizing the other trolls and getting away with it. So a lot of what Eridan does throughout Homestuck is mostly influenced upon this one aspect of his life. The fact that he is a sea dwelling noble blood.

When the readers finally get to meet Eridan, we only get a glimpse of his shoes and thoughts. One could immediately assume he didn't appreciate land dwellers because of the faygo bottle littered upon his beach. But, it isn't until much later does he get a proper introduction along with the other sea troll, Feferi, do we get to learn anything about Eridan. Initially he comes off as a bit of a badass, shooting down a whale that's kazillion times larger than him before galloping away on his sky horse to his hive (a house).

Once in the Hive, it is discovered that Eridan has a fondness for FLARP, a game that is like dungeons and dragons but with the exciting real life experience of being shanked in the ribs or dying painfully. (How exicting!!) He is really good at what he does, having once had the ultimate alliance with Vriska (who turned out to be his kismesis at the time) possibly from her ruthlessness and his intellect on troll tactics from reading the many military history books and fanfics. Eridan is also interested in magic, though he calls it white science because he believes magic is fake.

As mentioned before, his rank in society really does influence a lot of what Eridan does, or the lack of action Eridan takes. For whatever reason, he can't get over the fact that Vriska is no longer in a hate-romance with him and pesters those around him, clinging onto them for advice and some sort of kinship between them. (Ultimately, no one really knows how to comfort Eridan because his emotional needs are kind of high up there.)

When the game starts, Feferi, Eridan's moirail, immediately breaks off their relationships as moirails because Eridan is a big bossy bully who is too much work. Quite frankly, Feferi's had enough of his shit with KILL ALL THE LANDDWELLERS, and absconds the fuck out of there once she realizes that Eridan is no longer a threat to troll kind. (Really, there's only 12 of them left.)

It's presumed Eridan stays mostly to himself throughout Scrub as he complained that no one ever visited him in his planet, the Land of Wrath and Angels. He wasted away the time by killing the 'angels' floating around on his planet but in doing so, pissed them off. (He probably wasn't supposed to go slaughtering the Angels...) But from there, he gained something from the angels- learning how to destroy Hope with their light. (His title, Prince of Hope, fits this because Princes are destroyer/destructive classes.)

Eventually he leaves the Land of Wrath and Angels to pursue Sollux, whom Feferi has been hanging out with. In Sollux's planet, he challenges him to a fight and promptly gets his ass handed to him on a silver platter. He doesn't soon forget this because when the trolls are later banished to the meteor he brings it up relentlessly.

But not before pestering Rose to teach him dark magic from his computer. Their conversation ends with Rose blowing up his computer and Eridan seeking out Kanaya to furnish him a wand to exact revenge on the lilac wench. Sometime after acquiring his wand, he gives Jade the code to the punchcard of his gigantic rifle so that she can use it.

With time, he brooded on the fact that "weh weh it's so hard being a kid, nobody understands him" and decided the best coure of action was to seek out Jack Noir and join his forces. Despite Jack, killing all their dreamselves and blowing up all their planets, Eridan is convinced that if he submits to Jack, he and Feferi will be able to live and win the game. When he comes up to Feferi to present this idea, he runs into Kanaya with the matriorb. He then promises her that he will help her with that but first, he has business to take care of.

Business in the form of revenge. He confronts Sollux and Feferi who are glubbing about feelings on Gamzee's horn pile and tells them his plan. Insults are thrown, egos are hurt, until Sollux decides to stop Eridan's bullshit because he believes Eridan is going to get them all killed by going to Jack. The two engage in a fight using optic blasts and magic wands. WHITE SCIENCE ultimately wins and Eridan blinds Sollux with science, leaving him unconscious. Feferi then attacks Eridan but, in a fit of anger, Eridan blasts a hole through her torso. Leaving one troll dead and one unconscious, he then turns to Kanaya who also tries to stop him with her chainsaw. But, alas, he also kills her too after destroying the matriorb, ensuing all Hope is destroyed.

He absconds to then confront Vriska and Gamzee, leaving Karkat stunned with the three bodies of his comrades. Between Eridan leaving and arriving at the threeway showdown with Vriska and Gamzee, Kanaya somehow revives and enters their fray. She turns to Eridan, grabs the wand and in a fit of vampire fury she snaps it into two, debunking the magic before chainsawing Eridan through the torso. As most chainsaws through the torso wounds will do, it killed Eridan.

Currently he is drifting among the dead dreamers and dreamers through dream bubbles.

Personality: Eridan. Where do I even begin with Eridan? I guess Eridan is like Lord Voldmort's need to be an asshat and Harry Potter’s teenage angst mixed together into the body of a hipster. That is to say he has “some serious feelins and problems here."

But lets spin that wheel of problems and feelings to begin.

Eridan has an overpowering genocide complex. That is he wants to kill all land dwellers to the point where he has made it his sworn duty to do so. It doesn’t help that he is the second-highest blood type in the caste system and due to this high rank, he is a sea dweller. Nor does his nerdgasm for military history and legendary Alternian conquerors help his genocide complex. Instead, they only help drive him to bring about doom everywhere he goes.

However, the reason he hasn’t wiped out all the land dwellers can be thanks to Feferi, his moiral. (Moirails are a type of troll romance.) She stops Eridan from his destructive impulses. Though he does orphan trolls to feed Feferi’s lusus. But it is a sacrifice that must be made to keep her lusus’ voice to a whisper. If it’s voice ever rose above a whisper, with a vast glub, it would destroy wee babby trolls AND their lusus. So at the expense of orphaning wee babby trolls, she and Eridan protect their race from the vast glub.

It may also help to know that Eridan holds matesprit (again a type of troll romance) feelings towards his fellow royalty. He was rejected by Feferi, however, and was left in a complete wreck of emotions and problems after Feferi left him. (She felt he was no longr a danger to their race after they entered the game and dropping the relationship would be the best because Eridan was just too much.) Despite this unrequited relationship, his matesprit feelings may be the reason why he yielded to Feferi from time to time due to wanting to impress her. After Eridan was deserted, he became bitter and jealous. Seeking the attention of other trolls to form some other quadrant relationship with them. (He even goes as far as trying to be Vriska’s kismesis again and tries hitting on Rose in the same attempts.) From Kanaya, we learn that Eridan is a bit of a tool and overbearing on every relationship he forms.

But lets move past Eridan’s sad, pitiable romance issues and move onto his exaggerated emotional theatrics. He is a very emotional kind of guy but sometimes overly exaggerates the situation because he is a bit pompous at times. Although he is able to get serious, going as far as dropping his accent for Feferi to show how serious he was about being committed to the relationship. Though his massive ego and arrogance gets him worked up, his tough façade does crumble when faced by, well, pretty much anything and will sometimes admit that he is a bit of an asshole (he is) or feels like one. This is best seen when he outright insulted Sollux and then felt bad five seconds later when he found out Sollux had died saving Feferi. When he realizes what a jackass he makes himself out to be, he tends to get very frustrated with himself or doesn’t know what to do. Sometimes he punches himself in the head, other times he holds his head in his hands lamenting about what a fuckass he is. And yet still, he actually seeks out help from the other trolls to fix his problems. He’s basically a handful to handle whether you’re his friend or not. All excuses to indulge in more emotional theatrics.

All that aside Eridan is pretty badass. When he is first introduced, he is shown being exactly that by taking down a large whale lusus with his gun (Ahab’s Crosshairs). He is also seen to be an unstoppable badass when he FLARPS (extreme roleplaying) because his respiteblock (equivalent of room) is full of treasure chests of rare prizes, treasure, and even deadly weapons that he has amassed in his many sweeps of EXTREME ROLEPLAYING. In fact, it has been hinted that his hive may actually be a spoil from his campaigns. Amongst his collection also includes statues (presumably of legendary conquerors) and a hidden wand collection in a refrigerator. (Because Faygo is nasty shit and doesn’t belong in your refrigerator, silly readers.) He is interested in magic and wizards but firmly insists he believes it to be FAKEY FAKE FAKE. However, despite this disbelief he is very fascinated with it and also pestered Rose to learn her secrets. (He also later pester Kanaya into making a wand to train him in the ways of white magic. I mean. Science.)

And no, Eri Ampora does not live under the steps like many of you may wish to believe all young wizards live. No, but he also does not live in a castle on a cliff like the noble blue bloods. Instead, Eridan lives in a giant land wrecked ship in the middle of the ocean. Which is presumably a spoil from one of his FLARP campaigns since his avatar, Orphaner Dualscar, is the greatest Petticoat Seagrift troll and conqueror of conquest. (And evidentially really skillful at making orphans out of young FLARPing trolls.) His avatar profile is based off stories of military conquerors and their stories which include their GLORY OF VICTORY, STING OF DEFEAT, POLITICAL MACHINATIONS, and ROMANTIC INTRIGUE.

Unexpected from someone like Eridan is his mythological title in the game which is “the Prince of Hope”. What it means, or what powers he gains from this role is unknown. However, it may not be too far off because despite his massive ego of arrogance, hating all life, and being a sea dweller, he spends most of his time out of water. (Though he claims it is to effectively wipe out all forms of life.)

To kind of match his attitude and everything he represents (read; Harry Potter, Hipsters, Villians, Royal Pain in the Ass, etc.), Eridan dresses very flamboyantly for a troll. His outfit, a mix of Harry Potter, villains, royalty and hipsters, which consists of a purple highlight in his hair, a wide assortment of rings, a high collared cape with a striped scarf and striped pants as well as trendy glasses.

Eridan is also said to have a bit of an accent, what kind of an accent is unknown. However ANDREW HUSSIE has said that he pronounces his double v’s as “w”s. His speech impediment for trollian goes a little like this; a vvery wweird and sort of wwavvy soundin accent. Doubling the vs and ws and dropping the "g" in "ing". He sometimes replaces "of" or "an" with "a". His trollian handle is caligulasAquarium and his font color is the color of his blood. He is also associated with Aquarius.

So let's conclude the wheel of feelins and problems, we've found out Eridan is;

♒ a bit of a tool

♒ is overbearing
♒ likes white science (aka fakey fakey fake magic)

Third Person: The thrill of conquest, when he besieges upon the weak citadels of land dwelling trolls, is to Eridan like candy is to a grubby child. Sweet and mindblowing. How he enjoys reaping the rare treasures and glorious prizes from the undeserving, crushing their pride, their dreams , goals, sometimes their guardians. (He does, however, leave their demise up to his partner in crime, Mindfang.)

The sting of defeat is something he has never felt, and never will because he is a beautiful animal with raw power that cannot be in abeyance within his person, no. He is a conqueror, a troll of militant and supremacy strength. His profile is like that of the idols of history which he closely studies to perfect his arabesque person. He is glorious like his victory.

Except not today.

Today is absolutely the worst day in Eridan’s young troll life. Never has he had a day as bad as this from the time he hatched as a grubby wriggler to this moment. No, today surely takes first place for being the most terrible moment of his life because he appears, from his perspectives, to be in a city that is ravaged by destruction. A city that has met its demise by doomsday measures and has since become a sad empty shell of it’s former days. But it is not the city that makes Eridan grind his ghastly teeth in frustration and scowl like the great people before him in a time of stress. No.

There is all this destruction around him staring him right in the husk. All this destruction in this one single city that he didn’t destroy! Blasphemy! No, bullshit blasphemy! That another troll could exist to wipe out another planet. (He’s pretty sure this isn’t Alternia because the buildings look nothing like the hives of his planet.) Eridan feels so angry at himself because of this. But he feels more angry at the poor sadsack of malarial spew who brought him here to rub their malarial spewin victory all over his face. He balls a fist, bopping himself in the head repeatedly albeit to his frustration. All while disregarding the nearby monsters that creep and lurk close by in the shadows that he’d been fighting up until the moment of realization of his evident failure.

But then, Eridan stops in another moment of apprehension. Perhaps this was a sign. A sign of blackdom. Had he at last finally founded his fated enemy, at last someone who would be linked to him with hatred, and at last the troll who would fulfill one of his quadrants needed during the brood.

At last dear readers, Eridan had found his kismesissitude in this desolated city which only infuriated Eridan (with excitement?) that they had made the first advancement upon him. He felt like saying ‘hurrah, dear readers, I am not a sad lonely glubber after all’ but that is completely absurd. And not to mention silly, after all, it is just him in this city. Him and his kismesis. But his black blush of thoughts was interrupted by a terrible yowel and in a moment, Eridan was back to shooting monsters. This time he shot monsters with all the rage that he could infinitely have in the divinities. It was a scene that was very dramatic like in a movie where the heroes girlfriend dies and he rides off into battle only to die in battle and discover that his girlfriend was a cheating hookie. Yes, this is exactly the kind of theatrical battle that Eridan ensues for with one final battle gurgle and a SHIT JUST GOT REAL pose he points his gun to the gloomy gray sky and shouts as lightning booms across the sky,

“I WWILL FEEL THEIR BLOOD ON MY HANDS! TONIGHT!
